1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2022

This is known problem you refused to force Nissan to recall. At a minimum Nissan should have been required to notify owners of the problem. They did not. My radiator has failed allowing coolant to mix with the transmission fluid destroying the transmission. I have 96,000 miles on my vehicle. I would have gladly paid out of pocket to replace the defective radiator to save the transmission, but since I was not notified of the problem, now I have to potentially replace the transmission.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2021

Symptoms began as random hard shifts, then progressed to a sudden loss of power and high rpms. If the vehicle was turned off and on, the transmission would engage and you could drive a couple hundred feet before it began slipping again. I used this tactic of turning it off and on again to get the vehicle off of the highway. Vehicle has not been sent to shop as of yet. Taking a turn, my Nissan Frontier 2007 suddenly stops right in the middle of the street causing traffic jam, I was lucky enough not to be t-boned with my kids seating on the back. Nissan knew about is but never advised costumers about it to open a recall campaign. Need help with this. Truck was bought brand new at the dealer.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2018

In January 2018 my Nissan was running great . . . . Drove to work and when I came out to go home the truck wouldn't start. . My truck has been sitting since then. . Cant afford a new transmission but I was told it is the main board to the transmission. . I have power but it will not start. The vehicle remains in my garage. . . I had no warning before the this happened. Had to pay a tow fee straight to Nissan dealer for diagnostic and they told me it was my battery and starter. . We \replaced both and still nothing. I sure hope someone can help me because the cost to fix the problem as I was told was gonna be around $4500 they wanna replace the tranmission.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Frontier. While the vehicle was parked, it failed to start. An unknown independent mechanic diagnosed that antifreeze leaked into the transmission. The dealer (Nissan gadsden in gadsden, alabama) was contacted by phone, but the vehicle was not taken in for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2016

I had to have the timing chain replaced on my vehicle at a cost of $1550. Nissan put plastic guides for the time chain knowing they would wear down causing the consumer an additional cost to replace this way earlier than most vehicles. After the repair work the Nissan mechanic showed me the plastic guides and there was almost nothing left of it. Very scary to think what would of happened if I was driving the vehicle when the plastic guide wore out. This could of cause serious harm to someone if it had completely warn down while driving. Nissan knew this and has done nothing to fix the problem as all owners of their vehicles are forces to pay the deliberate cost to have the very expensive out of pocket replacement work done.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2016

Took my Nissan Frontier to pacific Nissan in san diego for a consistent jerk/knock with sound of liquid gurgling. Notified that I was lucky that the truck made it to the shop. Notified that there is a fluid intermix between my coolant and transmission fluids. How can that be when they are two totally different systems? Nissan is offering that I pay the deductible of 3000$ to get it fixed. I just found out that this is a known issue for all Frontiers, xterras and pathfinders and Nissan is not being pro-active in issuing repairs prior to this problem happening and sticking the consumers with the cost to repair the vehicle. How can this be allowed to happen?.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2015

2007 Nissan Frontier with 140,000 miles started vibrating and seemed sluggish when accelerating. I took to firestone thinking maybe it needed tune up. Come to find out transmission is the issue. I have previously had to replace fuel sensor when Nissan refused to pay. I was over the mileage by 2000 miles for recall. Now I have read about issues with transmission and once again Nissan refusing to fix problems. Nissan should be taking care of these issues. I will not own another Nissan!!! my brother also had a 2009 Frontier with the fuel sensor issue and Nissan would not pay to fix. Nissan knows this issues is occurring over the 100,000 miles and know they have defective parts on vehicles.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2015

Transmission failure. Driving on freeway vehicle wouldn't shift into gear. I was stuck and on my way home in heavy traffic. Truck started shaking. Took it to aamco on 5/2/15. Cost me over $3770. 00. On 9/6/15 took first trip to the mountains, again my transmission goes out. This time we're in the mountains going up hill when my truck won't shift into gear. Once again I have to have my truck fixed. I don't own a bank and I need my truck to work. What the hell am I going to do to make a living? what is Nissan waiting for someone or a family getting killed???.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2015

A couple of months ago, I began to notice a loud vibrating or shuddering sound at speeds around 35-40 mph. It seemed to happen as I stopped accelerating as if it were trying to up-shift for cruising. The sound began to get louder over the next few weeks before I could get it checked out. It now has a very difficult time shifting at those speeds and when it does shift, it's hard and makes a loud knock sound. It then began to run hot one day so after it cooled I check the coolant level and found that it had a light brown, milky looking substance which felt oily. I've recently discovered a lot of information from people with the same problem explaining that it is cause by the coolant and transmission fluid mixing and damaging each component.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2015

2012 class action suit extends warranty for leakage of antifreeze into transmission which causes engine to stop running properly and break down. Apparently this is a common feature on Nissan vehicles. This truck was driven to florida by a college student on spring break. At 79,000 mark trouble started. He drove it home to virginia and bingo the odometer went over 80,000 miles. At 80,300 miles he takes it to the dealership and because odometer is over 80,000 miles the manufacturer requires $2500 owner CO-pay to repair what could have been a preventable repair before the transmission tanked. Had he taken it to a dealer in florida at 79,000 the whole thing would have been covered. They require written proof of mechanical failure. These vehicles need to come with a warning label.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2014

I was driving and noticed that when I slowed down or stopped, then tried to go again the car hesitated, then took off fast all at once. At times even when the gas pedal was floored the car wouldn't go, then would take off. I tried changing gas, an additive, nothing helped. I had a neighbor drive the car and he said get it in before you kill someone. I called a couple of shops, but eventually went to the dealership and told them what was happening. They diagnosed a major engine problem that there was a class action lawsuit that was ruled against Nissan. They said I needed a 5000 dollar repair, but they would only charge me 2500 because of the lawsuit. It seems they only cover full price up to 80000 miles. I was 600 miles past there repair line. I explained that I had tried many things, and the problem was going on long before the 80000 mile mark. I offered proof by calling the shops and trying to put them on the phone with Nissan, they would not take the phone. I called the neighbor to talk to them as proof that he drove the truck more than a month earlier and the problems were severe. They would not take the phone. They eventually gave me the Nissan consumer affairs number, and consumer affairs gave me a case number and have not returned a call since. Whenever I call they say someone will return your call by the end of the day, of course nobody does. Meanwhile, the problem is getting worse, and I am getting scared to even drive the truck anymore. Then I came across you guys and it seems that you are aware of the problem, and have had other people like me. Please help.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2014

Truck suddenly running rough. Plugs replaced. Took in for relearn idle. Told me also 3 of 4 cats clogged and coolant in the transmission. Knew nothing of this issue with these trucks until I looked online to try and figure what was happening with my truck. I am so angry right now. There should be a recall as it truly is a safety hazard. To imagine the thought of driving on the freeway and have your trannie lock up. . . ? hello! this has caught me unaware and I didn't know about this until now and at 127k miles, I am sol on any kind of refund, repair, or anything? they should be liable as I should not be in this position with no recourse for a known safety issue that is now going to cost me more money that I can afford. This is their issue and they should fix it, not me. They knew and they should fix. Regardless, who knows how much actual damage this has caused my engine now? I am so angry right now. . . . Don't know what I am going to do now. But if I buy another truck, I don't think it will be a Nissan. . . Too many cover ups. . . No responses or fixes. . .

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2013

Catalytic converters needed to be replaced. We have three trucks that are identical, this is second of the three that the converters went bad (approx same mileage). First truck engine went bad 5 months later. We'll see if the engine holds up in this truck also. Third truck of the set luckily no issues but we read that a lot of converters on Nissans are failing and causing serious engine damage. Nissan told us they could not help, but to file complaint with your agency. So here we are. Thanks.
