1 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2015 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 09/17/2024

Engine light came on, and vehicle accelerated, then lost acceleration while revolutions increased. Diagnosis indicates bad tcm. I went to 3 shops, and all said that the tcm are going bad, especially infinity. Nissan wants to charge $500 just to try to reset it. The dealership is the only ones that can perform this task.

4 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

Vehicle will not change gears and is sluggish. The display on the speedometer does not show the position of the transmission. I have spent over 600 dollars to find out that the transmission control module is bad and that there was a recall to fix coolent leaking into the transmission fluid. My vehicle is still broken because of the part cost 1100 usd and the repair. Total bill is 1600 usd. This was a known problem and should be fixed without me paying a dime. My vehicle was in motion. Now it won't even get up to speed the transmission sounds as if it is stuck in a gear. Very erratic. My cruise control also just blinks and when the mechanic tested the codes it gave a network failure code.

5 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 04/20/2019

In April 2019 I was driving my 2006 Nissan Frontier truck 4x4 v6 . Suddenly I notice a lack of power and then it did not move any where. I call a tow truck services to take it to the mechanics. The was the transmission control module failure , do to the radiator coil leaking. We put a new radiator and bought a transmission control module that cost $964. 00 dollars. Th3 mechanic installed it and recommended to take it to Nissan for programming. After 3 times trying Nissan sad that the control module was defective. This issue has cost me almost $2,500. 00 in towing and labor back and forward and still my transmission is not working. I am now in the process of buying a transmission. This is not fair how a company that knows that product is defective wait until the warranty is over and don't fix the problem prior. They are know for their ctv problems with transmission and with the radiator coil being defective. This companies operating in our country are abusing the consumers with no body doing justice. I hope this hope someone or at least bring awareness to our government agencies that protect consumers. Thanks.

6 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 01/20/2018

Transmission went into limp mode leaving driveway. Cleared by shutting off & restart. Did this twice then would not reset. Took to shop & diagnosed contaminated tranny fluid & ruined transmission. One part replaced was Nissan oem tcm. Three months after rebuild same thing happened on highway but could not clear limp mode. $400 tow to shop but they said all tested and passed, reset codes. Happened again on highway and drove to Nissan dealer in flagstaff. They diagnosed lack of communication with tcm and said it would happen again, and to get to shop for diagnosis without turning off the engine. The third time this happened on highway drove slow in limp mode back to orignial shop that rebuilt transmission. Transmission shop after diagnostic said oem tcm failed. Avondale Nissan supplied shop with new tcm but only after failed tcm was returned. Total expenses over $7000 and loss of vehicle use for 10 days when transmission was rebuilt and 26 calendar days second time due to difficulty in shop determining exactly what failed because Nissan said tcm not prone to failure history.

Failure Date: 09/29/2017

Transmission tcm fried by coolant.

8 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2005 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 04/02/2016

Transmission started to shudder at around 45 miles an hour. Drove the vehicle home and parked it in the driveway. Went out to start vehicle next day and it would not crank. Had vehicle towed to dealership and had it diagnosed and found out that the radiator had an internal rupture which caused antifreeze to contaminate the transmission fluid causing the tcm module to fail along with damage to internal parts. The repair is estimated at about $5300. 00. Since the problem was diagnosed, I learned that Nissan has known about the problem for years but no notification was sent to me warning me of the problem. Despite Nissans knowledge of the problem, the company has recently refused to cover the cost of the repair.
