1 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/10/2011

The rear axles on my 2007 Nissan Frontier began leaking grease at some point. The fluid leaked on the rear brakes, causing potential brake problems if and eventual failure if gone unnoticed. Upon further research, there is a TSB for the problem as well as several other models affected, including the titan, and xterra.

4 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2005 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 08/15/2010

05 nismo Frontier, I had a ticking noise while driving. My engine light was on with a catalytic converter code, gas gage was intermittent. Took it to the dealer. Had to replace the fuel sending unit, get a new catalytic converter and have my driveline replace because it was blown. The truck had 94k when I took it in for repairs. I am currently trying to find a possible coolant leak. I can smell it but can't find where it is coming from.

5 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 08/09/2010

Right rear axle of Nissan 2006 Frontier failure. Was caught by owner while rotating tires, every 8000 miles. Could have caused serious danger to all occupants and other motorists if there was a total failure of read axle.

6 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 11/19/2009

Purchased new 2007 Nissan Frontier-v-6, long wheel-base truck. Expierienced brake problem at 20k miles, replaced by dealer, had low speed whine and brake pedal drop to floor and 35 to 40 mph judder and vibration. Went back to dealer, they checked and noticed the drive shaft was comming apart, they replaced with new one, idicated it was defective from vendor. I have had this truck back into dealer four times since with the same re-occuring problems. They can't find the source or the problem. Zone mgr. For midwest drove the vehicle and indicated that they can't find the problem and they will not replace anything else. I was told to take it to the bbb if I wanted a solution under current lemon laws. He also indicated it will probably fall apart down the road-complete and utter dis-regard for my safety. They are in complete denial that they have a problem with this vehicle. Is it just now that Toyota had a recall for broken/cracked yokes on tacoma's and Nissan is exempt? don't they all buy parts from dana corp. ? Nissan has experienced a large sales surge and are expanding just like gm had in the 70's. They don't have time/talent to take care of their problems just more new vehicles, more engineering problems, push it out the door and let the dealers take care of problems. This somehow has a familiar ring to it like Toyota's problem with acceleration! keep relieing on electronic controls to run the vehicles and take away control fromthe driver. The auto companies need to be investigated further for safety compliance as madison avenue commercials alude to the fact that all of these safety features that are incorporated into vehicles work flawsley when they actually don't! how many more people have to be killed or seriously injured with these so-called safe vehicles, made in USA with cheap china made parts! I'm sure there are more vehicles out on the road with these same re-occuring problems not being replaced or repaired due to mfgr. Defects and problems!!!.

7 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2005 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 10/01/2009

Timing chain whine/rattle on 05 Nissan Frontier.

8 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2005 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/01/2009

2005 Nissan Frontier with m226 (dana 44, v6 engine) rear end. The axle seals on both the driver and passenger sides are leaking and oil is getting on the rear brakes causing them to not work properly. I have had Nissan fix this 2 times (5/09 and 8/09) and it started leaking again 12/09. That makes this 3 times in under a year. This axle is the same as used in Nissan titans which are also experiencing the problem. Each time the seals were replaced and each time it started leaking within a month of the repair, taking a few months to become dangerous and get on the brake rotors.

10 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 08/01/2008

11 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2004 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 03/16/2004

Brand new vehicle on way home after purchase started to shimmy and shake at speeds between 60-80 mph on open highway. This was distracting for driver and made the vehicle difficult to hold steady tracking down road. This was reported to dealer within 48 hours. Dealer re-balanced front tires. The same driving performance problem still occurred and unusually after driving vehicle 5-10 miles continual distance. I drive 47 miles to work daily on interstate 95 in north carolina, and after a few miles this shaking starts happening at varing speeds above 60 mph. The vehicle seems to occassionally dart from side to side while trying to track normally down the road. Dealer says the alinment is not out. I pionted out to the service manager that the back right tire was in fact feathering on the outside. The vehicle has been returned to dealer (lumberton Nissan) 3 times, and the last visit they removed news tires which they had replaced- wihtout results- and ran them on a machine at the chevy dealership. They did find that particular tire to be out and replaced it. The vehicle still shakes and has a high speed vibration. This adversely affects the vehicles safe operation on the open highway. The dealership doesn't want to continue trying to track down the problem of the vehicle, so I have contacted Nissan corp. , offices and filed a complaint on the vehicle and requested today to return the unit to the dealership. I feel that the characteristics of the performance of this vehicle is a safety hazard resulting from a defect in the drive train of the vehicle. To avoid a fourth visit the dealer (which n. C. Lemon law states) they would be obligated to refund or replace the the unit. I contend taht my v4 Frontier truck either hast a problem internally in the drive train, or because it is built on a lighter frame, it cannot perform safely as marketed due to dangerously miss-matched component suspension system, which is essentially a design defect on the part of Nissan.
