Driving on busy road at approximately 40mph when my truck started to shake, I slowed my truck to approximately 37 mph, when it sounded like my truck exploded. I could not stop and could barely turn the steering wheel enough to get out of traffic just to smash into the curb where I finally came to a stop. The drive shaft came apart, grabbing the emergency brake cable, winding it around one part of the drive shaft, leaving me stranded with minors on the side of the road waiting for a wrecker to tow my truck. Had I have been on the interstate, doing the speed limit (70mph) when this happened, my children and I would have flipped nose over tail, possibly be struck by traffic and seriously injured or killed.

On 4 to 5 times in a one month period, while turning right, my steering felt like it went completely out. It felt as if all power was gone and became very hard to turn. It has not done this in a while, but my steering wheel is very loose. While parked , I can shake my steering wheel side to side. I do not think this is normal. I called crown Nissan and they do not have any issues with steering in my year truck. I think they are wrong and will follow up with this issue.

There was no accident. I had my vehicle repaired by a dealer (power steering). Now I have a leak in the power steering. They say they did not cause the leak. I say they did.

Steering wheel has become very loose (1" play in all directions) resulting in difficulty at times controlling the vehicle (appears the internal bearings or similar mechanism has failed). I fear this may lead to a crash due to inability to control the vehicle.
The vehicle has steering issues that I have complained about to both the dealer and the corporate headquarters since I have owned it. Both have essentially told me that I was "imagining things". A call to their consumer complaints line came with the answer of "I have to believe what my technicians tell me". Recently I was contacted in a recall of the vehicle and had the 'supposedly' bad part replaced yesterday, but the vehicle is still in the same condition and still feels extremely unstable and unsafe on the road - particularly at highway speeds. I am afraid I am going to be killed and I cannot afford another vehicle at this time. A near miss just occured on 9a - at 65 miles per hour in which the vehicle was swept by wind which nearly sent me into the path of a semi truck (the man smoked his tires and blew his horn). The steering feels as though it is loose or rubbery and I have noticed that "play" in the steering wheel seems to be about 1-2" before the steering enguages. I am beginning to think the replacement part was no more than a legal "cya" since the steering is not fixed, and is indeed as bad as it ever was. I am begging for relief at this point, and I do not wish to die or be crippled over this company's cover-up of an engineering flaw that they are unwilling to correct. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Steering wheel feel loose, like it is going to fall off and sometimes sticks or has a ratchet feel.
My 2008 Nissan Frontier 4x4 crewcab is thrown all over the road by normal wind draft while driving down the road and on windy days it is a nightmare to keep on the road. You cannot relax while driving or you will find yourself on the shoulder of the road before you know it! I am afraid I am going end up in a wreck because of it or at the very least I believe I might be stop and accused of driving drunk. I have taken it back to the dealer and had it checked. Nothing mechanically wrong. They tell me it is wind draft. I am very disappointed I bought this truck as I can't do anything about it now and I don't think Nissan is going to do anything about it, even though the look on the shop forman's face told me he knows it is a design flaw that he can do nothing about and that he is uncomfortable being caught in this position. This is an unsafe vehicle to operate and there should be a recall to do whatever it takes to fix this before someone gets killed. In my opinion, it is just a matter of time before this is reality!!!!!!!!.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Frontier. While driving 5 mph or greater, the vehicle veered to the right. The dealer inspected the vehicle, but were unable to diagnose the cause of failure. The failure mileage was 5 and current mileage was 800.
The contact owns a 2002 Nissan Frontier. While test driving the vehicle at 40 mph, it began to pull to the right. The contract stated that the alignment would be serviced and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. By that time, the alignment failure became worse. The vehicle was returned to the dealer three additional times, but the failure continued to worsen. The current mileage was 84,000 and failure mileage was 70,412.
Steering must always be corrected when making any type of turn. Steering wheel does not return to straight line (center) after any turn.
Purchased a 05 Frontier cc 4x4 truck from a local dealership. 2 weeks I had the truck roughly the 15 of July, I had put a 30 to 40 pound stone in the back of my truck which has the rhino bed liner, rock dent in the ribs of the box and chipped the rhino bed lining. Took it to the dealership, explained in detail but nothing done as of yet. Yet another person had the same problem I was told by the service department and got a new box. Problems with the drivers side window rattling, the rear end squeaking, and the rear. I took the truck in again, they took it in said they fixed the problems with the window and the rear end squeaking. Took truck home and was doing the same thing. Took back again for same problem plus rear differential and engine brake. Said they fixed window (not true again), had to replace the bushings in the rear(were bad), and needed a new rear differential engine brake they said they had to contact someone else about to find out problem(not fixed to date) took truck in again had it 3 days said was fixed. I took the truck home rear differential was doing exact same thing but now rear was getting hot. Called Monday morning to tell them it was doing exact same thing and the rear was getting hot and service department manger got pissed off was yelling. Now having trouble with the steering in the front , not right. Tried to get problem worked out with dealership. Had to finally call Nissan complaint center. Waited a week for response and finally had call from consumer affairs with no resolution. Told me they could not do nothing except send to general manager plus file complaint with bbb auto which, cost $200, no guarantee. Dealership service department also did not give me copies of service work done and refuses to do so. Consumer affairs only told me they can get them and it will help their case. Called another dealership had them pull up work done on truck and none was filed. I was sold a lemon Nissan don't want to deal with. I smell a lawsuit!.
Purchased vehicle 02/05 took in for service-pulling to right 3/16/05 521 mi. Dealer found no problems. 2nd time 5/26/05 7061 looseness in front end (steering) dealer said they had checked and tightened all suspension fr to rear. 3rd time 6/23/05 9,644 mi. Looseness in front end (steering) dealer finally put on front end mach and checked. Minor adjustment on toe in. Could not find any problem with looseness in steering. Requested Nissan to drive on country roads where I drive. They would not. They say they have all they are going to do. Nissan case # 4954626.
Since purchase in 2004 the tilt steering does lock into place. The steering wheel moves up and down during driving which could result in an crash. The tilt mechanism has been repaired and replaced by the dealer with the same failure to lock and hold after a short period of time. This must be a design error since after repair/replacement there is no positive lock for the tilt control.
The outer edges of the two front tires continues to feather (wear off unevenly) and the vehicle continues to pull to the right after three attempts to repair the defect by the Nissan dealer. This is a serious safety hazard according to two certified mechanics. As a result, we have not been able to fully utilize the vehicle as indicated by the low odometer reading (less the 7,000 miles after a year).
