Vehicle experienced sudden engine stall/shutdown after warning indicators illuminated. While driving at low speed, the abs warning light, front collision warning light, and check engine light appeared. After placing the vehicle in park, the engine shut off unexpectedly. Vehicle would then restart but stall again within several seconds. This created a serious safety concern because the vehicle could lose power unexpectedly in traffic or while entering an intersection, reducing ability to accelerate, steer safely with traffic flow, or avoid a collision. Obd diagnostic codes retrieved were p0101, p0102, and p0113. Based on research into common 2018-2020 Nissan Kicks issues, these codes may be secondary/false airflow sensor warnings caused by a failing or sticking electronic throttle body rather than an actual mass air flow sensor failure. Sudden stalling and restart-then-stall behavior are consistent with throttle body malfunction. Problem appears intermittent. Vehicle/component is available for inspection upon request. No prior warning lamps were present before the incident.

Intermittently for the last year, car will show 3 dash lights: 1. Aeb light 2. Slip indicator light 3. Master warning light when this occurs, the car can be slow to accelerate. When the three lights are on, the problem will persist until the engine is shut off for a period of several minutes. It does not occur every time the car is driven. In the last 3 months, there have been 3-4 instances where the check engine light has come on as well. The code every time has been p1010 or no code displayed. We tried changing out the maf sensor with a third party part, and the issue occurred even more frequently. We then went back to the first sensor after cleaning it with maf sensor cleaner. This seemed to resolve the issue for a month, but then it started to reoccur. The last two occurrences of the check engine light have occurred after rapid acceleration. - yes original part is available for inspection. - safety is at risk for self and others as car can have issues accelerating, which makes it dangerous to enter freeways and highways (which are necessary for my commute). - dealer has not reproduced the error, however they have not seen it with a check engine code (taking the car in tomorrow). - no inspection by insurance, police, or manufacturer. - before the 3 error lights started to come on fairly regularly (several times a week) I had a few issues of intermittent sluggish acceleration over the course of 1-2 years when this issue first started, but no lights came on at first.
The p0101 code has been going on and off of this car since purchase (3 years) the maf sensor has been replaced twice and the check engine light comes back on after just a few days each time. This poses a safety risk because the car stops at stop lights and turns off, the car shakes at idle, the car refuses to accelerate risking pulling out in front of another car without being able to accelerate. The check engine light comes on and off and the traction control light as well, its so random and the only fix is to "change the sensor" which does not fix it because it happens again immediately after. Its dangerous and needs an actual fix.
Getting code p0101. When car first starts the throttle response is very low. Once the car warms up to seems to go away but it appears to be a consistent problem. Others are reporting as well for this vehicle.
The dash board lights up and the check engine light comes. It’s hard to accelerate or reverse and its idles high. I have replaced coils, spark plugs, censors and it’s costs me thousands of dollars and it’s still not fixed.

My car ocassionally comes with code p0101 and p0102 when the check engine light comes on. And when it does come on, the traction light and head collision warning lights show as well. These affect how the car drives and I have to stop and shut of the engine for a couple of minutes and then restart the engine. Changing the mass air flor sensor does not seem to have helped anything and it seems based on internet searches that several people who own similar cars are having the same issue.

P0101 code keep coming back after so many repairs plus all lights are on like lane assist front collision prevention rear collision detection and slippery road it will reset after turning off and on.
The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle immediately hesitated while accelerating. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the mass air flow sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The sensor was replaced, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was later taken to the local Nissan dealer but was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 67,736.
I purchased a 2018 Nissan Kicks with under 6k miles from atlanta luxury motors (alm marietta) on April 29, 2022. The dealer failed to disclose the car was a canadian import, which voided the manufacturer’s warranty and left me responsible for unsafe defects. At under 30,000 miles, the suspension (struts) failed and had to be replaced, and by 60,000 miles the cvt transmission began showing fault codes, slipping, and jerking, creating serious safety risks while driving. The undercarriage also showed early rust. These problems were confirmed by independent mechanics and service centers, and I have paid over $3,000 in repairs and will inquire more if transmission has to be replaced costing between 6-8k. The vehicle’s defects put me and others at risk of loss of control, and I request NHTSA investigation to determine if this model or imported versions are unsafe for u. S. Consumers.
The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed and stalled. The vehicle was able to restart. The check engine and three other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic five times for unknown diagnoses and repairs; however, the failure persisted after the mechanic performed the repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The front crash warning will come on and then the car will just cut off. This has happened multiple times while driving. It’s dangerous because it happens without any warning and there is nothing going on with traffic to trigger the warning light.
The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the alternator and the mass air flow sensor circuit had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where the same diagnostic result was provided. The contact was informed that the alternator and the mass air flow sensor circuit had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000. The VIN was not available.
Code p0101 comes up which indicates an issue with the car’s maf system triggering a check engine light. This is widely known to be a software issue and is chronic in many Nissan kick’s manufactured around 2018-2020. This is a faulty error code and ends up visiting consumers hundreds of dollars to repair and almost always returns despite actions being taken to repair the issue.
I keep getting the p0101 code for the maf sensor and I’ve replaced it 2 times with oem ones and I still get that code later on. I’ve cleaned the throttle body and replaced the air filter with an oem one and that light with also the “wet road” and “forward collision” light keep popping up. Stalling has also occurred multiple times while in park or at a stop light and rough idle when ever not in movement.
Frequently we get error p0101 and the car loses power. It says "mass or volume air flow, a circuit range/poerformance error. For us that means the car loses power, limps along or jerks suddenly and the lights flash, this can happen at any time. Happens about one or twice a month at very random times, not dependant on the weather. We have changed the maf sensor as instructed but this still happens and it quite dangerous when driving or pulling away from a stop.
Vehicle will overheat and stall intermittently. Coolant and water are in the oil. Nissan failed to address the issue under warranty and I had to pay over $1400 for repairs.

It is hard to explain what specific component put my safety at risk. But my car is suffering from unintended acceleration and unintended deceleration, which I've been told is related to my engine/abs actuator, but Nissan is doing "further investigation" after holding my car for a month and clearing it for use. When I've been driving on the highway my car will decelerate at rapid speed, even with my entire gas pedal on the floor, and then rapidly accelerate when my foot is not on the gas. My inability to control my vehicle in those instances led to near collisions and instances of me getting my car towed. Nissan finally accepted there was an issue with my car and held it for over a month while they waited for a part to come in. They then returned it to me and said it cleared testing. Within an hour of operating the car the same thing happened again while I was on the highway, and I almost was hit from behind after going from 65 miles an hour to 40 and back up to 50+ without any warning. Then I pulled to the side and all my lights flashed including my engine and steering lights. This is a manufacturer issue that other drivers have experienced and without a recall I worry about other drivers on the road who are not as lucky as me and aren't able to pull to safety while their car is speeding and breaking without their control.
I was driving on the road like normal and suddenly I got a front collision warning on the dash, the car wouldn’t accelerate and lost all power. Check engine light also came on with code reading p0101. I’ve had this issue before and the dealer doesn’t know what to do or they want to charge me a lot of money to fix it. I’ve read online many many people having the same issue. Luckily this hasn’t happened on the highway but if it does happen it could be catastrophic.
I own a 2020 Nissan Kicks and have experienced recurring and unpredictable electrical and system malfunctions while driving. At times, a "malfunction, see owner's manual" warning appears on the dashboard, accompanied by multiple warning lights including: forward collision warning slippery road / traction control warning. Occasionally, the high beam headlights turn on by themselves, and I have noticed that the malfunction also leads to the engine stalling when I switch to reverse to park my car. These warnings appear randomly, about a few times a month, while driving under normal conditions. The issue usually resolves temporarily after restarting the vehicle, but this raises serious concerns about the reliability of key safety systems such as traction control, collision avoidance, and issues with the engine itself. On several occasions, the check engine light (cel) accompanied these other warning lights during the "malfunction" and the cel remained on even after a restart. A diagnostic scan revealed p0101 (mass air flow sensor performance issue). However, when I had the vehicle inspected at a Nissan dealership, the technicians stated that the maf sensor and related systems were operating correctly, and they could not identify a specific mechanical issue. Despite that, the cel and other malfunctions continue to occur intermittently. They were also not able to recreate the situation I explained with the malfunction since it occurs at random times. This issue has happened multiple times and creates uncertainty about whether the vehicle is safe to operate. I have found numerous reports online from other Nissan Kicks owners experiencing the same combination of issues (p0101, engine stalling, random warning lights, and vehicle malfunctions that reset upon restart). I have attached a repair invoice from the dealership. Just recently on 6/22, this happened again as I was driving at night. When I went to park my car, the engine stalled again. I attached a dashboard photo.
The mass air flow (maf) sensor malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to idle roughly, stall unexpectedly, and trigger continuous beeping. During the failure, the power steering locked, making it extremely difficult to steer and creating a serious safety hazard for myself and others on the road. The issue was reproduced and confirmed by a service center, and the sensor was replaced by a Nissan dealership with the system reset/rebooted. However, despite this repair, the vehicle has again begun experiencing the same symptoms, including rough idling, stalling, beeping, and loss of steering control. The recurrence of this problem after dealership repair indicates that the issue may extend beyond a single component and presents an ongoing safety concern. The vehicle and repair records remain available for inspection upon request.

I have found numerous reports online from other Nissan Kicks owners experiencing the same combination of issues (p0101, random warning lights, and vehicle malfunctions that reset upon restart). This suggests it may be a systemic electrical or ecu problem, not isolated to my car. I urge the NHTSA to investigate whether this issue warrants a recall, software update, or mandatory fix. It undermines the safe and reliable operation of the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle decelerated while the accelerator pedal was being depressed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer; where it was diagnosed; however, the failure was not replicated. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed by the same local dealer and remained with the dealer for further diagnostic tests. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000. The VIN was not available.

The car acceleration issues, taking a long time to go from 0-50 with the tachometer going up to 5 to do so. My mpg has gone from 33 to 28 mpg. There are times when I press on the gas but my car doesn’t move. It also makes loud “rumbling” or “whining” sounds at times.
The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle occasionally experienced reduction in automotive power with the "system malfunction" message displayed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the battery had been replaced twice however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
For months the front/rear collision sensors warning lights are on. The abs and traction control warning lights are also on. The check engine light will come on for weeks at a time then go away.
Vehicle dies during operation becase of mas airflow sensor. Replaced sensor now it needs nossan diagnostic tool to relearn and I'm being required to pay a minimum of 300 for this service on top of the 250 I paid for the part. This car is shutting off in the middle of intersections.
I took my 2024 Nissan Kicks sv to the dealership with approximately 2000 miles on it. The vehicle as an increased concerning issue where, while idling in park with no one in the vehicle, the engine will have a continuous revving then loud click/clunk noise, return to normal, then start again. It’s been getting progressively louder. Dealership stated they were unable to replicate the issue and there were no codes/issues showing on the computer. It started happening around 1500 miles occasionally and quieter, but now at nearly 2500 miles it’s increasing in frequency and noise level. I’ve noticed it happens multiple times a week if not every time I drive the vehicle. This is very concerning for a new vehicle.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the headlights became extremely dim before the failure was self-corrected. The failure was intermittent. Occasionally, the contact had to restart the vehicle for the headlights to illuminate properly. The contact stated that after the initial start-up, the vehicle hesitated, and there was an extensive amount of time before the transmission shifted into 2nd gear. There was also an extended amount of time before the vehicle shifted into 1st gear while the vehicle was idling. While driving uphill and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle decelerated and lost motive power. The failure became a persistent failure. The contact stated that on one occasion, while driving at an undisclosed speed, while the transmission was shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, a loud boom came from the vehicle, and the vehicle lost power. The contact was able to push the vehicle, with assistance, to a nearby parking lot. There was a mechanic shop nearby, and a certified mechanic inspected the vehicle. The mechanic determined that the transmission fluid was leaking from the driver's side cv axle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was made aware that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign numbers: 25v437000 (engine and engine cooling) and 25v508000 (exterior lighting, engine and engine cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. The VIN was not available.

My 2018 Nissan Kicks stalled several times, twice while at a stop light and once while driving. There was no warning or any indicators letting me know that the vehicle stalled. The two times at the light I was only able to notice because I couldn’t get the car to go while pressing the gas. The time I was driving the car suddenly stalled and slowed down and the steering wheel became stiff. I had to place it in neutral and pull over. I took my car to the manufacturer where I bought the car and explained it to them. It stalled in them as well but they couldn’t find a reason for it and told me that it could be my key fob cover and the battery. We changed the battery on 08/07/24 and it just stalled again today at a stop light on 08/08/24. This rules out the key and fob and cover so it must be the something with the transmission or engine. Either way, it becomes unsafe especially while it stalls while driving.
Limp mode defect occured while on highway in the middle of the country of USA.
At 54,000 miles on my car my car was shaking and not wanting to go past 20miles an hour. My check engine light came on. Safety was at risk, there was no warning that my car was having trouble. It was driving fine one minute and ttem all of a sudden check engine light came on. Feel that the cvt engines in Nissan are not safe.
