2026 Nissan Kicks sv intermittently fails to accelerate despite accelerator pedal application. Vehicle may remain at approximately 20 mph. Dealer has been unable to duplicate the failure despite extended testing. Owner considers the vehicle unsafe because sudden loss of acceleration could result in collision.
My family and I departed the dealership around 7:27 pm with our 2025 Nissan Kicks that only had 4,500 miles on it. My step son and I were driving the new car home. We got maybe a mile from our house and I heard a small pop and started smelling gas really bad. Once we pulled onto our road I heard another pop, all of the lights came on the dash and a bunch of white smoke came from the hood of the car. I put the car in park and turned the engine off and got me and my step son out to the car. We went into the field next to the car and as soon as we crossed the road, there were flames coming out of the hood.

This vehicle has an open recall; the dealership has stated that they cannot fix the recall because Nissan doesn’t have a solution for it. Consequently, I have had to take it in three times now to have the drive axles replaced. At first they told me they had it fixed and then tell me that it’s another drive axle that needs to be repaired. This car was purchased in January 2026 off the showroom floor and I’ve had nothing but trouble since then.
The issue involves defective malfunction of the dashboard (usb, audio, and sometimes warning lights are hidden then appear) and improperly unbalanced wheels. Which has significantly impacted the safety, reliability, and usability of my vehicle.
Check engine light appears on and throws code p0101, mass air flow sensor. Have changed mass air flow sensor twice, had code cleared at mechanic. Drive 5 miles and bam check engine light appears. As soon as my car hits 2000 rpm, the front and rear collision lights and traction light come on… my car almost doesn’t move when I press the gas to go after this happens and the rpm’s are up to 3000-4000 just going 30 mph.

I find driving my Nissan 2023 Nissan Kicks 2023 when I look to my right my rearview mirror obstruct my view. It do not allow me to see completely what I’m approaching while my car is moving. I have to lean to my right and look under my mirror to get a clear view of what beside me. Or or what I am approaching. Or what is approaching me. I have had two accident in his car due to my rearview mirror obstructing my view. I went back to the dealership and I told them about this situation and they said it was nothing they can do. I was injured in the last accident did not see the car approaching me at all. The Nissan car dealership did not give a height verification of people who should drive this car. I am five 9 1/2 and I am buying a Nissan Kicks 2023 and I tell you you have call me back pain I have to get shots in my back because of all the linking and ducking I have to do to see why this car is moving. This is a dangerous vehicle on the road. It should be taken off the road. It should be taken off the market. Should nobody buy this a Nissan Kicks. The word. Period.

The contact owns a 2025 Nissan kick. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v188000 (equipment) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer confirmed that the remedy parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.
2018 Nissan Kicks evap system has holes in it from freon that causes the freon to leak out. The required freon is contributing to the holes being made in the aluminum evap. It leaks out and the air blows hot. Is there any help with a recall or repair. I was quoted $4000 to fix. Possible lemon laws. If you research on google. The Kicks are notorious for this problem. The mechanics I talked to laughed or knew all about this problem before even looking at it.

Immediately after turning car on and putting it on drive gear, the collision light and traction light on dashboard came on and a message “malfunction see owner’s manual” came on too. As I tried to get out of my parking garage it was little hard to accelerate. I turned my car off for a few seconds, the collision/traction engine light turned off, but check engine light turned on. I had battery checked by aaa who confirmed battery is still in good condition. Took vehicle to auto zone to scan and was notified about got code “p0101” air filter is changed with every oil change, maintenance has been kept up as well.

My abs lights came on a couple of years ago and the nisan repair shop said it was just a sensor issue and replaced it. When it came on again this year, it was the entire system that needed to be replaced and the service manager acknowledged that it is a known issue with this make and model of this car. In addition, my freshly out of warranty vehicle now needs a complete replacement of the air conditioning cooling system for which I have been quoted over $4k, again with the service manager telling me it's a known issue. Both of these issues have a severe impact on passenger safety.

Blind spot warning does not come on until the vehicle is past you, and the display screen that has your speed and everything else on it is fading again, this is the second screen they have had to put in my car. And the steering wheel moves when it is in the locked position you will be driving down the road and then out of know where the steering wheel will just start moving without being unlocked.
Vehicle will not go forward when accelerating, the vehicle does go in reverse. It is available for inspection at Nissan vacaville. It is a safety risk as I was driving, it stalled in turning lane on street and wouldn't go. I had to have it put in neutral so I could get it to a safe location so I could have it towed to my residence. I have a service report saying that there's a faulty piece in the transmission by Nissan in vacaville. No indication that there were any issues to the vehicle when I took it for service on Saturday 2/28/26. No lights came on the car or anything that would warrant an issue.

My vehicle has experienced transmission-related issues that have affected its safety, reliability, and overall performance. The symptoms include hesitation during acceleration, delayed response when pressing the accelerator, jerking, loss of power, and unpredictable driving behavior. These issues have made it difficult to safely merge into traffic, cross intersections, and maintain normal driving speeds. The transmission problems occurred despite routine maintenance and normal vehicle operation. These symptoms raise serious concerns about the safety and durability of the cvt transmission installed in this vehicle. I am concerned that these issues may represent a broader defect affecting 2019 Nissan Kicks vehicles equipped with cvt transmissions. Drivers should be able to rely on their vehicles to accelerate and operate safely without fear of sudden loss of power or transmission failure. I respectfully request that this matter be thoroughly investigated and that Nissan be held accountable for any manufacturing defects associated with the cvt transmission. I also request consideration for appropriate repairs, reimbursement for related expenses, or any other remedy available if this issue is determined to be a known defect.
To whom it may concern: I am writing to express my concern regarding the recurring issues with the safety cameras on my 2026 Nissan Kicks, which were purchased on [xxx]. Despite multiple visits to the dealership for repairs and replacements, the problem persists. Initially, the cameras were not functioning properly on [xxx], and subsequent visits to the dealership on February 21st, February 28th, and March 3rd did not resolve the issue. The dealership's attempts to reset the camera, replace the camera, and change the module, respectively, have been unsuccessful. On March 3rd, I spoke with service manager mac regarding the ongoing issue, and he informed me that there is no solution to fix the problem. Mac advised me to contact Nissan's manufacturing department for assistance. I subsequently contacted Nissan's compliance department and opened a case with case number #[xxx]. They indicated that someone would contact me within 10 days to discuss a potential solution. Given that we have only had the vehicle for three weeks, I am disappointed that we are still experiencing this issue and that no resolution has been found. I would appreciate any further assistance or guidance from the dealership or Nissan's manufacturing department to ensure that the safety cameras are functioning properly. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My back windshield shattered by itself.
Back glass was shattered with no visible impact. Back glass was replaced by safelite.
On Friday, January 23, 2026, at approximately 6:41am, I was going to starbucks located at 5378 w. Rosecrans Ave hawthorne, CA 90250. My partner and I were talking, I was just about to exit to get my coffee then we heard a loud “pop” like a gun shot, and then the sound of shattering glass. We jumped, frighted, startled by the sound, immediately looking over at the back seat of my car window. We both exited the car, a man who was outside of the front of my car (just walking by coming out of starbucks) heard the same sound, he exclaimed “what was that a gun shot?”, we both thought it was an active shooter! I ducked and took cover. I was scared for my life. I noticed a women exiting her car across from mine, assumed it was safe. I asked her if she saw anything. She seen I was shaking up, and my window was shattered. She did not see anything. She asked if we needed assistance to contact the police department. Starbucks employees and witnesses assisted as we were unsure as to what was going on, and worried. I suffer from epilepsy and asthma and I have health problems. It was a lot to take in at that moment; my partner was concerned for me as I was for him. The thoughts of being killed kept running through our minds, and so thankful to be alive, we were completely traumatized! we had to get.
I was driving to work around 3:15 am on 1/20/26 when my back windshield exploded! there was no warning. I did have my defrost on. I thought someone had shot or thrown something at my car. I called the service department at my dealership and even spoke the service manager. He recommended that I speak with consumer affairs, which I did. I was told to file and insurance claim. Not only that, my window cannot be replaced with an identical window. Mine was tinted from the factory and they do not sell that window. I'll have to pay even more to have my window tinted to match the rest of the car. I did google this subject and I see that many Nissan vehicle owners have had the same thing happen to their cars. Also I see where a class action lawsuit has been opened. I want Nissan to take responsibility. I was driving on a bridge in the dark - the noise it made was loud.
While coming from the grocery store to my apartment I heard a loud pop and I saw thru my mirror that my rear window was shattered. I. Stop on the next block and park to see if someone or something hit my window but nothing. . . I noticed on the side of the sorroundi window the window was separated from the window frame. . . I did some researched and found out it has happen to other Nissan owners . . . . I will be contacting my Nissan dealer to see if they will repair it for free. . . I can't drive it because the window can fall to the street. . . I can't put no plastic around it because its been raining all this weeknd. . . . This happen on Friday the 16, 2026 around 430pm.
Back glass shattered while sitting under the carport. It was around 30 degrees outside when it happened. No rock or bullet hole.
The rear body vent seal failed, allowing water to enter the vehicle interior. This component is available for inspection. I noticed a sloshing water sound, and over time there was excess interior moisture, including repeated interior window frosting that required scraping for visibility. A Nissan dealership later confirmed water intrusion and interior mold contamination affecting the driver-side floor, rear seating area, and trunk. The presence of mold inside the cabin poses a health risk to occupants, and ongoing water intrusion creates a potential risk to vehicle electrical systems and other components. The issue was confirmed by a Nissan dealership through inspection and diagnosis. The vehicle has been inspected by Nissan service personnel. No police or insurance inspection was related to this issue. There were no warning lamps, messages, or alerts indicating water intrusion prior to discovery. The only symptom was the sloshing water sound, which prompted inspection.
I was trapped inside my car because the driver side door lock actuator was broken. I had the door lock actuator replaced at a Nissan dealership who verified the problem. There was an issue where the driver side door would not lock properly with the key fob. When I tried to unlock the door with the fob, the car horn would go off until I pressed the fob again.
Apple play/radio do not turn on once the car is started. I brought it to the dealer and was told that there were no updates available at this time and I would have to replace the unit.
My 2019 Nissan Kicks experienced a sudden and dangerous cvt transmission failure. The vehicle began jerking, struggled to accelerate, and at times would not move forward when pressing the gas. The check engine light came on during these incidents. The car also revs without engaging properly and loses power unexpectedly, creating a serious hazard when merging into traffic or crossing intersections. This appears to be a widespread issue affecting Nissan cvt units. The sudden loss of acceleration and unpredictable behavior create a significant safety risk for myself and other drivers. Nissan has denied goodwill assistance for the repair, even though this failure occurred under normal driving conditions. I am submitting this complaint for safety review due to the potential risk of collision.
While driving the car seems to be stalling, slowing down while I’m driving. The car feels like it doesn’t want to go up to a fast speed on the highway. I feel uncomfortable and unsafe that the car will stop instantly on the highway and cause me to crash. So that is why I’m reporting this because it’s unsafe. Secondly the left driver side window goes up in down while I’m driving. This also makes me feel uncomfortable while driving.
It' makes noise spoke to Nissan dealer did oil change and did not get fixed have the car uber driver I don't fell safe traveling or picking up passengers.
I own a 2020 Nissan Kicks and have experienced recurring and unpredictable electrical and system malfunctions while driving. At times, a "malfunction, see owner's manual" warning appears on the dashboard, accompanied by multiple warning lights including: forward collision warning slippery road / traction control warning. Occasionally, the high beam headlights turn on by themselves, and I have noticed that the malfunction also leads to the engine stalling when I switch to reverse to park my car. These warnings appear randomly, about a few times a month, while driving under normal conditions. The issue usually resolves temporarily after restarting the vehicle, but this raises serious concerns about the reliability of key safety systems such as traction control, collision avoidance, and issues with the engine itself. On several occasions, the check engine light (cel) accompanied these other warning lights during the "malfunction" and the cel remained on even after a restart. A diagnostic scan revealed p0101 (mass air flow sensor performance issue). However, when I had the vehicle inspected at a Nissan dealership, the technicians stated that the maf sensor and related systems were operating correctly, and they could not identify a specific mechanical issue. Despite that, the cel and other malfunctions continue to occur intermittently. They were also not able to recreate the situation I explained with the malfunction since it occurs at random times. This issue has happened multiple times and creates uncertainty about whether the vehicle is safe to operate. I have found numerous reports online from other Nissan Kicks owners experiencing the same combination of issues (p0101, engine stalling, random warning lights, and vehicle malfunctions that reset upon restart). I have attached a repair invoice from the dealership. Just recently on 6/22, this happened again as I was driving at night. When I went to park my car, the engine stalled again. I attached a dashboard photo.

This suggests it may be a systemic electrical or ecu problem, not isolated to my car. I urge the NHTSA to investigate whether this issue warrants a recall, software update, or mandatory fix. It undermines the safe and reliable operation of the vehicle.
I was driving at a speed of 32 no other cars around. All of a sudden I hear some buzzing and feel vibration, and I see a hazard icon in the dash flashing. It was a white triangle outlined in red with a red exclamation mark inside of the triangle. The car slowed dramatically almost stopping as the alarm or buzzing sounded. Then all at once the alarm stopped and the car resumed speed.
P0101 mass air flow sensor code keeping appearing after repairing it. It causes the car to stall and shut off frequently on its own.
Replaced the mass air flow sensor bought from Nissan dealership due to code p0101. After replacement the warning light went off for one day. Now back on. Dealership said it’s an after market part and that they don’t sell after market parts. The part in question was bought from the dealer. Researching online revealed that this is a common problem. That dealerships are aware of this yet won’t fix. They try to sell the customer unneeded additional services.
My car has repeatedly stalled while in motion. •no warning lights appear on the dashboard before or after stalling. •the most recent incident occurred in front of a moving car, putting you and your family at risk. •luckily, no one was injured, but this continues to be a serious safety hazard. •this problem has happened before, meaning it is a recurring mechanical defect. I’ve reported this issue to Nissan, but they are refusing to acknowledge it. •you have not received any recall notices despite this being a major safety concern. •Nissan has not provided a fix or meaningful response regarding the stalling issue. There have been no dashboard warning lights to indicate when something is wrong. •the car has had multiple mechanical issues, but you haven’t received proper support from Nissan. •Nissan has been unresponsive or dismissive about the recurring defects.
Drivers door won't open from inside or outside I can climb out passenger seat when this happens and use the key to manually unlock door this happens quite often.
Dear mr / madam I purchased a brand-new Nissan SUV on January 13, 2025, but I have encountered serious quality issues since the day I took delivery of the vehicle. The specific problems are as follows: wiper washer malfunction: on the day of delivery, I discovered that the vehicle's wiper washer system was faulty. The washer fluid was frozen, making it unusable. Front windshield crack: on January 28, 2025, I noticed a curved crack approximately 7 to 8 inches long on the inside of the front windshield, directly in the driver's field of vision. This crack is clearly visible in sunlight, and when touching the interior side of the glass, it can be distinctly felt. At that time, the vehicle's mileage was 364 miles. After inspection, it was confirmed that the vehicle had not been involved in any collisions. I reported this issue to Nissan sales on February 1, 2025. Nissan company conducted an inspection, confirmed the presence of the crack, and stated that the vehicle had not experienced any impact. However, nearly a month has passed, and Nissan has yet to provide a clear resolution. I am deeply concerned about whether this crack poses a safety risk while driving, particularly whether the windshield might shatter unexpectedly during operation. I do not know if this constitutes a serious safety hazard, nor can I determine whether the glass will suddenly break in the future. This uncertainty is causing me significant anxiety. Since Nissan has not yet provided a timely solution, I feel compelled to formally lodge this complaint with NHTSA. I sincerely hope that Nissan will promptly address this issue and provide an appropriate resolution. Thank you! sincerely,.
