Intermittently for the last year, car will show 3 dash lights: 1. Aeb light 2. Slip indicator light 3. Master warning light when this occurs, the car can be slow to accelerate. When the three lights are on, the problem will persist until the engine is shut off for a period of several minutes. It does not occur every time the car is driven. In the last 3 months, there have been 3-4 instances where the check engine light has come on as well. The code every time has been p1010 or no code displayed. We tried changing out the maf sensor with a third party part, and the issue occurred even more frequently. We then went back to the first sensor after cleaning it with maf sensor cleaner. This seemed to resolve the issue for a month, but then it started to reoccur. The last two occurrences of the check engine light have occurred after rapid acceleration. - yes original part is available for inspection. - safety is at risk for self and others as car can have issues accelerating, which makes it dangerous to enter freeways and highways (which are necessary for my commute). - dealer has not reproduced the error, however they have not seen it with a check engine code (taking the car in tomorrow). - no inspection by insurance, police, or manufacturer. - before the 3 error lights started to come on fairly regularly (several times a week) I had a few issues of intermittent sluggish acceleration over the course of 1-2 years when this issue first started, but no lights came on at first.

All brake failure warning lights remain on while driving and abs no longer works. It is a very common safety failure that Nissan is making a small fortune on. It is a definate safety item.
While I was driving, I pressed the brake pedal. As soon as I applied the brakes, the vehicle abruptly screeched to a halt in a manner that felt abnormal and uncontrollable. Immediately after this sudden stop, the vehicle lost stability. It slid sideways, causing it to rotate and end up facing in a different direction than the one I had been traveling.

My vehicle has a serious safety defect involving the braking system and related electronic controls. The vehicle is available for inspection at any time. The main failure is sudden, unintended braking without me pressing the pedal. On November 5, 2025, around 6:20 p. M. , the vehicle brake-checked in traffic and almost caused a rear-end collision. This continues to put my safety and the safety of others at risk every time I drive, but I have no other transportation for work. Along with the sudden braking, the car has loud crunching and dragging noises when braking or beginning to move, difficulty shifting between drive, reverse, and park, and intermittent warning lights. Warning lights have appeared several times, and on one occasion stayed on long enough for me to bring the vehicle in. These symptoms first began in July 2025 and have continued ever since. The problems have been repeatedly reproduced by me and reported to the dealer. Although the dealership has sometimes claimed they could not find a problem, they later acknowledged noises and even suggested “better brakes,” which they said I would have to pay for despite my warranty and extended warranty. I have recordings of the noises and a voicemail from a service advisor. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership four times on July 15–16, August 6–9, August 19–22, and September 26, 2025, and also reviewed by Nissan north America consumer affairs. No police or insurance inspections have been done. Even after repeated attempts, the manufacturer and dealer have not resolved the safety issues. The sudden braking, shifting problems, noises, and warning lights make the vehicle unreliable and dangerous. I am afraid to drive it, and I am requesting an NHTSA investigation because these defects create a clear risk of a crash and have not been properly addressed by Nissan.

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that the abs, forward facing camera, advanced driver-assistance systems (adas), lane variation, and other safety feature lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the abs and forward-facing camera. The dealer diagnosed that the adas needed to be replaced; however, the part was on back order. While awaiting parts for the repair, the battery started to lose power and needed to be jump-started several times. The manufacturer was informed of the issue. The manufacturer opened a case for the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

I was driving and needed to come to a stop because there was a four-way stop sign, and the brakes didn’t work. The pedal went all the way to the floor and even though I pumped the brakes, it wouldn’t stop. This is the second incident where this happens. I checked the brake pads and fluid everything is good. No warning lights come on when this happens. So the mechanic says they cannot check and see what’s wrong with it because no lights come on.
The abs and forward collision system failed. This caused the car not to respond during a hard brake when it was raining. I almost had an accident. The car was inspected on September 4, 2025, by universal Nissan (12785 s orange blossom trail, orlando, florida). Universal Nissan found a malfunction in the abs control (actuator & ecu assy antiskid) with a repair cost of $2,448. The car has 18,689 miles. The warning lamps appear as soon as the malfunction starts. The Nissan Kicks owner forum reports this abs problem as recurrent. There are multiple reports on the website. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs (case #5576215). They did not take responsibility for the abs problem.
The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the abs warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the dealer determined that the abs module needed to be replaced; however, the part was on a national backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the abs warning light illuminated and the message “see owner’s manual" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact believed that the VIN was included in an undisclosed recall related to the abs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,600.
The vehicle has a sensor in the front that will auto brake if it thinks I will crash into something . However many times it’s braked there’s been nothing in front of the car. I’ll have great distance between my car and the one in front of me. There have been at least 4 incidents since I’ve owned the car (1 year). There’s no active recalls, and the light will flash that I’m going to hit something until I shut off the car. Once I turn it back on the warning collision light is gone.
The dealer checked my car and changed some transmission parts but I feel the revs drop when I drive. The dealer cannot find anything. I must use the emergency brakes because the car moves in parking even in a flat place. The dealer said it was normal.
The abs control module is working intermittently. Nissan states that they have a problem with this so much that there is a backorder on the item. The replacement cost from the manufacturer is between $1500 and $2000.
12/10/2024 brake warning light was on. Took to dealership and they found the left rear c1bda-13 actuator malfunction, caliper parking brake motor to have open connection internally. Replaced on 12/13/24 along with gasket brake hose. 1/31/25 brake warning light on again. Dealership found the right rear c1bdb-13 actuator malfunction open. Unable to get code to reset. Replaced on 2/14/25 along with gasket brake hose. 2/19/26 brake warning light on again. Dealership found both rear actuators malfunction open and cracked (technician stated they were cracked in the video sent to me as an update), believe moisture getting inside parking brake calipers and freezing. Replaced both on 3/5/26 along with all 4 gasket brake hoses.

Abs system warning light turns on and off, and abs fails after 50,000 miles on vehicle. System requires abs actuator replacement, but replacement isn't reliable. Nissan has been contacted and refused to acknowledge issue or offer assistance with issue. This has been an issue in all Nissan Kicks and leaf models dating back to 2018 and through current models. I believe a recall should be instated for this problem because multiple cars could potentially be driving without their abs systems active. This could lead to poor ability to stop in inclement weather and could lead to more accidents on highways. The lights randomly turning off could mislead drivers into thinking that nothing is wrong with their vehicles. Upon first inspection at local Nissan dealership they reported no problem but loose battery terminal.
It all started when the electrical system just shut down. Then I had issues with the door locks not working and that electrical system not working. Then the car just stopping - shut off while driving. That was the worst. It just shut off and I could not get it to start again until I let it sit for a few minutes. Spent thousands of dollars on what the Nissan dealers said was wrong, but the issues just kept happening. Now all the lights on the dashboard are lit up, abs, sensor, tracking, warning. I am attaching a picture for review. After spending so much money on this, I did some research and it seems that this is a continuing issue for Nissan Kicks 2019. Please help, I am tired of spending so much money and not fixing the issue.
We were simply backing out of our driveway and the system began to beep as if something was behind the vehicle. I got out and walked behind the car and there was nothing there. I began backing up again and the vehicle suddenly stopped in a grinding halt. No matter what I did I could not make the car back up. This is a 2023 car with 2000 miles on it. It took about 10 minutes to back out of the driveway with no explanation or reason. We traveled to a store and tried to back out of a parking stall and this happened again with no obstruction behind us. I took it to the dealer and they said the car was performing within parameters. The said they are not permitted to do anything with the aeb sensors. The impact of the sudden braking was alarming. Later the collision alert light came on while traveling at 50 mph but the car did not automatically brake. We are afraid to drive this car because of this and if we ever had to move the car quickly out of danger it would be dangerous.

Over a period of 3 days leading up to the braking incident the collison warning came on periodically when there was no need, the sensor on the dash on the left, right and front of the vehicle image went yellow, the malfunction light came on and the collison warning with no cars around. On the November 9th, 2023 I got the collison warning (looks like 2 cars)and it went away. However that day I was pulling forward from a green light and as I was through the intersection the car suddenly braked stopping the car and a red square appeared on the dash with a letter in it - not sure what it was as I was trying to ensure I was not going to be rear-ended. I was the first car from the light so there was no car ahead of me and no reason for the car to brake and stop. The car behind reacted and went around me avoiding a rear-end collison- lucky for us. I cautiously continued home and parked and did not drive the car except to the dealer for them to check. Their initial response was bad battery and I'm still waiting. I am afraid to drive this car. What if that was at higher speeds on a highway and a larger behind us. Would we have survived. I don't think so.
While inflating the tires up to the recommended pressure, due to the low temperatures overnight, I noticed that the right front rotor had multiple cracks running on the bridges between the holes on the brake rotors. There where no indications other than the low tire pressure warning indicator. I have a picture of this on the vehicle. Knowing this could lead to a brake failure and or crash!.

While driving straight and I have a green light if the traffic in the left turn lane stops for on coming traffic to clear my vehicle brakes as if the car in the other lane is in front of me not to the side of me. I am afraid I will get rear ended one of these times from my vehicle slamming on the brakes when there is no reason to do so. This has been happening since I bought the vehicle, since my previous vehicle didn't have these new features being 20 years old I didn't know what to think at first. But it has been a year now and it's not me, there is something wrong that could end up being deadly. I have only noticed it happening when the vehicle in the left turn lane stops and I am in the next lane going straight. I have an appointment at the dealership next week but the service advisor acted like he had never heard of this issue when I see it has been well documented on other Nissan models and model years.
While I was driving, my vehicle’s intelligent cruise control (icc) suddenly stopped working. At the same time, the automatic emergency braking / forward emergency braking (aeb/Feb) warning light turned on. While the vehicle was in motion, warning messages appeared on the dashboard, including: “unavailable: front radar obstruction,” and/or “forward driving aids temporarily disabled – front sensor blocked. See owner’s manual. ” these warnings appeared even though there was no visible obstruction to the front radar sensor. The sudden loss of intelligent cruise control and forward safety features while I was driving reduced my ability to rely on these systems to help maintain a safe following distance. The unexpected warning lights and messages were distracting and created a potential safety risk. This issue occurred during normal driving conditions. I had to take the vehicle in for inspection to determine whether there was a malfunction with the front radar sensor or related safety systems.
On July 5,2023, I was parking the Nissan Kicks in a street parking spot with my family on board. As I attempted to apply the brakes, I inadvertently pressed both the brake and gas pedals simultaneously due to the insufficient clearance between them. This unexpected response caused the vehicle to surge forward abruptly, nearly colliding with the car parked in front of me. The incident left my family and me shaken, as we narrowly escaped what could have been a disastrous accident. The design flaw of the brake and gas pedal clearance in the Nissan Kicks 2023 poses a significant safety hazard, putting the lives of drivers, passengers, and pedestrians at risk.
When I am driving my car the collision brake come on and my car will reduce speed and the not accurate. The car would still be started but will not move upon me pushing the acceleration. When I start my car and I’m reversing it will not move upon me accelerating, when I put the car in drive it will jerk and take off really fast. At a red light after coming to a complete stop my car will not accelerate after me pushing the gas, leaving me stuck in traffic in the middle of the street. This is completely unsafe to myself as well as my baby. I am scared to drive my car. I have taken my car in numerous times to the Nissan dealership and it still does the same thing, costing me money.
The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while making sharp left and right turns, she heard a grinding sound near the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air flow sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65-70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle however, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that she used an obd scanner and performed a diagnostic test on the vehicle that produced code: p101 (indicating that the mass air flow sensor was faulty). Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, while depressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that she had to apply added pressure and pump the brake pedal several times to coast the vehicle to a stop. The contact stated that the mitigation braking system failed. The abs warning light and the forward collision avoidance warning light were intermittently illuminated. Additionally, the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed to take the vehicle back to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 88,873.
The vehicle constantly shuts off when idle or at times when in motion. The automatic emergency braking (aeb) system warning light turns on as well as the slip indicator. When it finally turns back on after placing it in park and stepping on the brake, the engine barely accelerates. The rpms drop and then surges to compensate about every 30 seconds. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer on several occasions and Nissan has yet to figure out what the issue is.
During times of weather rain or ice, the aeb system malfunctions. First the slip indicator light comes on. Then a message says that there is a malfunction and to see manual. Next the aeb light will come on. Once both lights are on, the car shudders. Steering is difficult at this point. Next the battery light and oil lights will turn on then the car shuts off while driving. You can no longer hear the engine and acts as if the car was not started. When this occurs I often have to find safety or attempt to “jump start” by shutting the car off completely then turning it back on. The incident repeats itself but will go away after weather is clear. This is a major safety risk specifically while driving and the car shudders then cuts off completely while in drive.
Recently had brake sytem replaced and it was done incorrectly. Almost had a wreck and issue has drained my battery and cauing issues to alternator too. Constantly having issues with heat and now my ac. Have to constantly pay diagnostic charges. Request drive belt be replaced.
While I’m driving, usually while I’m on the freeway, my 2021 Nissan Kicks will think I’m about to get into a head on collision and try to brake for me. I get warnings that come onto my dash and my emergency brake light will come on. This happens about 2-3 times a week and seems to be happening more frequently. My car is still under warranty and I’ve taken it into the dealership three times now and they can’t seem to find an issue.
When driving 50mph - 70 mph the forward collision warning will engage and the emergency brakes will engage. The car will come to a stop. This has happened while on the highway and crashes were barely avoided. It has injured my back with the sudden stop. Today 12/8 it happened again and both the forward collision warning and rear collision warning engaged, the car stopped from going 68 mph on the highway, and the car disabled my traction control.
I was driving my car on the freeway approximately going 55mph, then I wanted to break slightly, but I was unable too, because my car kept accelerating. It didnt want to stop. Luckily there wasnt cars next me. I managed to pull my emergency break up and slam on my breaks again. Car got towed to dealership they said they couldnt find an issue. This happened 10/21/22. And it happened to me again 10/29 except I was off the freeway. Same problem my car kept accelerating, its almost as it was stuck. I got my car towed again to dealership. I am currently waiting to see what they tell me. This has never happened to me. I am not a new driver and I bought my car new in 2019. It happen twice within a short period of time. I am very concerned and do not feel safe with my vehicle.
I bought the Nissan Kicks in April 2019, with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. At 34,710 miles the abs system comes on. I took the car to the technician authorized by the manufacturer. He detects a code, c1110-04, and recommends that I replace the abs controller and actuator. That's over a $4,000 repair for a car that only has 34,710 miles on it. I think the problem is a safety issue since the abs works with the car's brakes. The technician told me that if it is not fixed, the brake system may not be working properly. Since I bought the car, there has been no sign of the problem. The first time I saw the problem was on sept 29, 2022.
The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated while driving at 55 mph the brake warning light illuminated on the instrument panel, making a sudden stop. The vehicle continued to operate normally. An appointment was scheduled to have the vehicle diagnosed. The manufacture was contacted and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 38,000.
Car malfunctioned cut off while driving no speed braking barely works consistently malfunctions atleast 5 times a week can’t go over 60 without it malfunctioning.
For over a year now the forward collision warning light just flashes at random times as I am going down the road (I've taken numerous photos). I've taken it to downtown nashville Nissan to have it fixed (under warranty) and they say it has to be flashing when I bring it in. But they have shown me computer read-outs on when it has activated (gone off). They refuse to change the sensor. Now - twice (04/21/22 and 04/23/22) as I'm driving 70mph down the center lane of the interstate - the sensor activates, this big red triangle flashes up, an alarm goes of and it slams on the brakes. Thank goodness no one has been behind me either time and it only last for a moment (it thinks a pedestrian is crossing in front of me). Cannot get a reply from Nissan.
The automatic emergency braking (aeb) and radar system is faulty which makes the vehicle suddenly brakes on it's own. My daughter reported that the alert light began coming on about a week ago. Then the yesterday (9/26/2021) the vehicle suddenly braked on its own while she was driving. She added that there was no vehicle or object in front of the vehicle at the time of the self-braking. This is a serious safety concern. After research into this matter, I have learned that both Nissan and the national highway traffic safety administration are aware of the situation but have yet to issue a recall for the faulty aeb in a number of their models. On March 14, 2022, my daughter was stationary at a stop light (warner & jewel street). Once the light turned green, she released the brakes and started to accelerate. However, the warning lights came on and the vehicle immediately braked on it's own. The vehicle behind her (Jeep wangler) did not stop in time and struck her Nissan Kicks causing heavy damage to the rear. Like the other incidents, there were no vehicle or obstacles in front of her to warrant the vehicle to immediately brake. The issue is a serious problem. We have read other reviews with other people having this problem with their Nissan vehicles. I have absolutely no faith in this vehicle and will no longer allow my daughter to operate it. My hope is that Nissan will be forced to research and address the issue. As consumers we deserve safety and to be compensated for this incident.
