One problem related to automatic transmission park/neutral start switch has been reported for the 1996 Nissan Maxima. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Interlock cable between ignition switch and shifter broke making it possible for the key to be take out of the ignition while vehicle was not in park. As a result, the vehicle rolled backward down the driveway.
