One problem related to brake antilock wheel speed sensor has been reported for the 1997 Nissan Maxima. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1997 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that the abs activates on its own sporadically. The dealer speculated that dirt or mud enters through the wheel speed sensor and causes the failure. The dealer cleaned the component, but the failure recurred shortly after the remedy.
