The contact owns a 2003 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. Additionally, while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was later towed to the residence. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 225,000.
When driving down the street it just turned off. Said it was crank/ cam position sensors well changed them and put new throttle body. And now to find there is a recall however my VIN is not part of it. Well it should be. And be fixed. I have been trying to fix for 9 months. Been sitting longer. First had to figure out where to start.
Camshaft position sensor failed.
Please fix your auto fill --- it just erased everything! anyway, the engine cuts out while driving in traffic. The engine cuts out while waiting at a red light. The engine cuts out while turning. It's all random! the engine code shows p0340, bank 1 and bank2, and sometimes p0345. I have replaced the camshaft position sensors five times!!!!! I have tried both auto zone and hitachi, and neither of them solves the problem. I also paid to have the crankshaft sensor below replaced, and that didn't help. I am told that this problem has been posted online and it was recommended to only use oem parts. This is very dangerous to lose power while in traffic, and then having to wait until the engine will restart, which eventually it does. This is an ongoing problem. Please help!!!.
Car won't start. It turns on and it cranks but it doesn't start.
Tl the contact owns a 2003 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the failure occurred every day for the past six months. The dealer (ingram park Nissan, 6990 northwest loop 410, san antonio, TX 78238) was contacted by phone, but the vehicle was not taken in for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 124,432.
Car "service engine soon" is on. The car randomly cuts off in traffic and as driving. Won't start up immediately. Very dangerous problem. The engine to stopped running without warning during vehicle operation, which could result in a crash.
While driving on highway at about 55 mph car loses power without any warning, there was not much traffic so I was able pull off the road. The car regained power without having to start engine and I was able to drive a little further and it happened several times again. The "check engine" light comes on as this is happening but doesn't stay on. (I cannot run test to find out what is going on as "check engine" light only comes on as this happening). The engine is still on/running but there is no power/acceleration to the vehicle.
Was driving on 4 lane divided road at approx. 50 mph. When depressed gas pedal to accelerate, car acted like it wasn't getting gas. After a few seconds, it acted normal again. Came upon stop light. As I was waiting for light to change, engine suddenly cut off without any warning, all dash lights flashed. I immediately cut the a/c, radio and lights thinking it was my battery going bad. I put the car in park and restarted it with no problem. I immediately drove approx. 15 miles to nearest aaa shop to get battery checked. Battery checked out fine and mechanic looked under hood and could not see anything obvious. I got home and found out that this year Nissan had been recalled for camshaft problems. The description of camshaft problems (engine suddenly turning off) made me suspicious especially since it had been recalled. Took to Nissan dealership next morning and they confirmed that the camshaft was weak so they replaced ($552. 00 expense). Don't understand why all the Nissan 2003 Maximas were not recalled for this problem. I am asking that Nissan considering recalling all the 2003 Maximas for this problem. I was very frightened when engine cut out and could have be stuck in the middle of the road and rear-ended. I am grateful I was stopped when it happened and not traveling at a high speed.
As verified by an independent mechanic, the camshaft sensor shut the car down during operation on the highway. I was advised that this specific problem was the subject of a recall in 2003 (notice of which was never given to me) and I found two independent internet references to a recall for this specific problem (recall #33403), one of which contained a range of affected VIN's that included my car. I sent the information to Nissan with the supporting documentation but was summarily rejected on the basis that my VIN simply did not appear on their computer. I asked if it was because the recall was in 2003, but did not receive a reply. Nissan refused to replace the defective part(s); consequently, I had the work performed by an independent mechanic. Hence, the question: is this 10-year old (apparently voluntary) recall enforceable by the nhtsb? Nissan could obviously not care less.
While driving, car suddenly stops responding, the steering wheel locks into position, the engine looses power, and stops running. It happened four times over the past two years. The speed of the vehicle during the incidents was between 20 - 35 mph.
While driving the vehicle stopped running. After researching the trouble code, we attempted to replace the part. Replacement was unsuccessful and found safety recall on this same issue. Called local dealership and they stated their was no recall on this vehicle. There should be a recall on this vehicle if it dies while driving. This problem is very dangerous.
The engine would not start during lunch. It started after a couple of attempts after work and the "service engine soon" warning light came on. As I left my job and drove 1/2 mile, the engine stopped running on a three lane road in traffic as I was going 35-40 mph. I managed to coast past an intersection and quickly turn without power steering into a parking lot.
Vehicle dies while in operation and traveling to work. It happens three to four time when driving it.
2003 Maxima shuts off when starting it, back to back. Car has less than 80k miles. Mechanic said it is the cam shaft sensor position & this car is horrible. This is a life threatening issue and must be fixed by Nissan only. It was their error. I have filed a complaint against Nissan as well.
- the contact owns a 2003 Nissan Maxima. On several occasion his vehicle lost power, however he was able to pull over and the vehicle to restart. After a few minutes the vehicle lose power again. The manufacture took a report, nevertheless, the contact was notified that the vehicle was not included in recall 03v455000. The vehicle will be taken to the dealer for diagnose. The dealer information wasn't available. The current mileage was 80,000 the failure mileage was 70,000.
Cam sensor failure. How do I determine VIN numbers affected by NHTSA recall 03v455000.
The first incident occurred when my car, 2003 altima was less than a year old. During the summer of 2004, the car would not start. It had a full tank of gas, the battery was fine and it was early in the morning around 8am. I attempted to turn the car on and I got nothing. It finally started after about an hour of trying to pump the gas without trying to flood the engine. I chalked it up to a hopefully one time event. It has happened 4 more times since then. Again in the fall of 2004 and I did take it to the dealer in arlington, va and they found nothing wrong. It happened twice in 2005 and most recently around memorial day and just this past week. I keep the maintenance up on the vehicle every, put "good" gas in the car but I still have these issues. The vehicle information section of this complaint only had Maxima gle and frontier listed as vehicle type, not the altima. I submitted Maxima just to get through the complaint. My car is again a 2003 nissian altima.
On 9-2-2008 I was driving my 2003 Nissan Maxima it just stopped running, towed to the dealer they replaced crank position sensor. Called Nissan north America inc. And told them of the problem and ask about the recall of Maxima"s that had this problem that said my car was not under the recall . The only response was sorry! good thing I'm an experienced drive or I might have not been able to tell this- sorry no more Nissan cars!.
The contact owns a 2003 Nissan Maxima. Nhtsa recall 03v455000 was issued. And the consumer took vehicle to Nissan for recall repairs. However, Nissan refused to do the recall repairs. The recall went out in December 2003, but the consumer purchased vehicle in January 2003. She never received a recall notice, and the manufacturer stated that the recall work must have been done. They did not have the documentation to prove that it was done. The vehicle was currently in the repair shop because rear brakes failed, and the dealership refused s to repair the brakes. There were several other problems with the vehicle, such as the stereo, suspension, and other things that they will not repair. The vehicle was still under warranty.
