38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2012

Whenever I first crank my 2004 Nissan Maxima se up and shift the gearshift from park to reverse there would be a really hard kick and then when I shift it from reverse to drive it would kick really hard again. And then when I start moving forward it would be slow by picking up speed because it would be stuck in 5th gear instead of being in 1st gear like it suppose to be in. So other words it would take the Maxima 45 seconds to a minute to get to 55 to 60 mph. And I already have taken it to the Nissan dealership where I brought it from a total of three times before they finally told me its the transmission and that could cost me anywhere from $3500 up to $4000 just to get it rebuild. And I definitely don't have that kind of money to be spending on getting the transmission rebuilt. I have had this Maxima every since March 12, 2008 and its been good to me until this happen. So please could you help me? it would be much appreciated thanks.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2010

Car started slipping and jerking. The transmission was failing at 84,000 miles. When changing geras from reverse to drive the car jerk very hard and sounded like an explosion everytime I shift gears. Also when driving on the highway the gears felt like it it didn't wont to change and when its finally changed gears then it jerk forward while driving. That was a harzard. Had the transmission replace and now it starting to have the same issues.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2010

I bought a brand new Nissan Maxima 2004. After driving for 5 years, it has given nothing but headache and stress. It would not accelerate or would be jerking/shaking after stepping on the accelerator. While driving in the freeway, my car would slow down and couldn't drive pass 20 mile per hour, then engine died. I had replaced catalytic converter ,sensors, mufflers, brakes. And the problems still haven't resolved. As of today, I don't have a car, it is at the dealer for diagnostic.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2010

Transmission jerks/slips between the 1st and 2nd gear shifts when accelerating and decelerating.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2010

I am the first and only owner of this car. There were no accidents or physical damage to my vehicle. Whenever I shift to reverse the car pauses and then jerks. Same jerk behavior happens whenever I shift from reverse to drive. I took it to the shop and had new motor mounts put in to solve the problem. For a few days you could barely feel the jerking when switching to reverse. Literally by the next week it was bad all over again and the jerking returned. Also, sometimes when I am driving I can feel the car "hesitating" when switching gears. For example, this morning I was driving to work and going only around 25mph and as I started to accelerate the car jerked and slowed down for about 5 seconds before it returned to my normal speed. This can be very frustrating and scary. All regular scheduled services (including oil and fluid changes) were performed by local professional shops. I would like to get my transmission replaced by Nissan at their expense.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2008

Transmission jerks on 2nd and 3rd gear. Common problem with 2004 Nissan Maxima se, and Nissan refuses to do anything.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2003

Last April 25, 2003 I took my car for a yearly inspection and it failed due to the rust in the passenger floor panel and side rail. From then I took it to a body shop and they gave me a price of $800 to $1,000 dollars to fix it. Being disabled and a former marine on a fixed income. I could not pay for it. So I covered it and placed it in storage. For how much I paid for this vehicle you think they would give you a break, hell no. I need to get to appointments and need a car, so we're do I go to get help????? when I find some one to take pictures I will write again. I can not get under the car because I have had 3/3 major back fusion sergury's that all failed.
