6 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2010

I purchased my 2004 Maxima 18 months ago. From the time I drove it off the lot it started shaking. I took it back to the dealer a total of 4 times each time they told me it was something different, from the rotors to a weight falling off the wheel(which they say I lost). I was driving on a interstate highway and the vehicle started shaking and pulling so bad I almost had an accident. When I took it back for the fifth time I was told I had to pay to have the vehicle fixed(I had not owned it but 2 months). Finally I took it to another dealer (same affiliate) who fixed it so the shaking was not as bad (after 3 visits). I have taken the vehicle back on several occasions since then, and now when the jerking has gotten worse, sometimes jerks so hard it hurts my neck. The gears jerk when changing. I thought I just had to deal with the fact that I brought a lemon, but after reading all these complaints (which are either the same or similar) I know Nissan needs to correct these issues before someone is seriously hurt or loose there lives(as well as others). And I do plan to continue emailing sending letters, and calling until someone listens. Now I don't feel alone in this issue just pissed off. That Nissan has allowed this to go on so long without addressing the safety issue of this vehicle.

11 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2008

I bought a 2004 Nissan Maxima about 6 months ago and the car has some defects that Nissan should be held responsible for. About a month after I bought the car I noticed a shaking in the steering when I stepped on the brakes or when I drive faster than 50mph. I took it into the dealership where I bought it from and they diagnosed that the rotors were slightly warped but that this wasn't necessarily a safety issue. Recently at 74,000 miles the cars transmission began to fail, slipping from first to second gear and from second to first gear. It jerks aggressively when it shifts and smells like burned rubber. I took it to be serviced for this and found that the transmission fluid was heavily contaminated and there was metallic residue in the transmission pan. The auto specialist determined that the inside of the transmission was burned and that eventually the car will stop working unless I get a new transmission installed. The dealership where I bought the car said that there isn't anything they can do for me and that it isn't there problem that the car I bought from them six months ago doesn't work. It is unfair that I am paying twice the amount of money of the car's worth. The retail value of the vehicle is $10,000 in good condition.

12 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2008

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Maxima. When the contact shifts from first into second gear, the vehicle shakes. When attempting to shift into third gear, the rpm's increase and never fully shifts into third gear. When shifting from drive into park, the vehicle makes a thud sound. The current mileage was 91,350 and failure mileage was 20,000.

13 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2008

I am experiencing issues with my transmission slipping between 1st and 2nd gears, as well as going between reverse and drive. When the transmission slips there is a loud pop and the entire car shakes.

14 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2008

I have on 3 occasions had my car shut off on me either while driving or while parked. I have had many parts replaced on my car. Just recently, my car slipped gears and would not go above 25 mph. I figured it was the transmission and I was right. Nissan replaced my transmission ( a few days before my extended warranty expired). Then I noticed my alarm system did not work after I got the car back. Less than a week later, my gears slipped, the car started to shake and it shut off on me in the middle of the road and it could not be restarted. Luckily, nobody got hurt. This problem needs to be looked at and a recall should be issued.

15 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

My car jerks when it changes gears. It has 87000 miles on it. I checked online to get a idea of what it can be and saw that many other people are experiencing the exact same thing. It seems a recall is in order. Also I noticed that the car shakes and this has happened around 40000 miles. Also people had similar postings. There seems to be no real solution that will fix the car longer than one month. Please investigate.
