We purchased car from Nissan dealer); all maintenance is properly performed. In March 2012, we took car to Nissan dealer. Customer request: I am an engineer; when it comes to safety & quality, I know what I am talking about. Anyone can file a lawsuit – just to be ready for time and money (I wish for that open check book). My request are there any regulation that can regulate safety & quality of the car; or manufacturer to be accountable for such issue and ethically fix this for customer? we (customer) paid approx. $36000 for such car quality? wow. . . . . I have all the evidence of engine fix maid with Nissan mcgrath - elgin, IL dealer. . . All evidence are there. . . When I say evidence, it is legal evidence. I mean this. No talk. . . All official evidence. Let me see what national car safety - dot can do. . . . . Hope for the best.
While driving the car in town the car started jerking erratically, launching forward, hard jerks, car shaking like crazy, smell burning smell in the car, I almost hit other cars due to my car jerking forward. I was frightened. . . The car is very unsafe to drive to say the very least. It doesn't matter what speed you are driving, it jerks and launches forward at will. My children could have got seriously hurt riding in this car. I paid close to $800 toget this car fixed in may of 2013, only to have it all happen all over again as the Nissan corporation knew of defective transmissions in the Nissan maxiamas. Yet, they continue to sell these "death traps", to citizens. . This is an atrocity, whatthe Nissan corporation has to done it's consumers.
I am the original owner of a 2005 Nissan Maxima. Car only has 56,000 miles on it. At 50,000 miles I started experiencing problems when I put the car in reverse it would jerk really bad, then put into drive and again a very bad jerk. It is very scary and I know that it is a transmission problem with the gears. When I drive between 20-30 miles it just starts jerking again and the gears on the transmission change. I need 2 motor mounts due to this problem. I would hope with all of these complaints, there will be a safety recall on this issue.
While decelarating car under 20miles,the car will jerk when gas pedal is pressed for acceleration(I. E. ,slowing down for red light or changes in traffic speed.
I have been feeling a jerking in my car, which sounds like the motor is moving around. I had the motor mounts replaced, but still was having the same problems. I have now found out it is the transmission, which will cost me $3200. 00, I have been told by the shop that a lot of 2005 Maxima are having the same problems, if this is true why is there not a recall?.
For about the last 5-6 months I have been noticing a new problem with my vehicle. When shifting from r to d with my automatic transmission, the car will hesitate and then jerk into drive. Sometimes the jerk is very hard and loud, and sometimes not so much. It does not always happen, but at least 1 time a day or if I am driving more, then perhaps up to 5-10 times a day. I have also noticed it when driving at certain speeds. Sometimes around 25-30 mph, the car will slow down, then jerk back into the correct speed/gear. I had some work done probably late last year which was $800+ and other times before that as well which were quite pricey. As of yesterday, now my ac will not turn off, it is stuck on full blast. Have also had problems with the doors not locking/unlocking with the remote which has been repaired. Now I notice the driver side door at times does not lock with the remote. I am mostly concerned with the shifting problem from r to d as that seems like the most costly repair that will need to be done and have noticed that there are many complaints online about other owners with the same problem. I am hoping to have this paid for by Nissan as I would not be able to afford this after the other repairs that have had to be done with the car and this seems to be faulty with the car in general.
I had the transmission flushed/serviced at a local Nissan dealership. The transmission started slipping and jerking between speeds of 20 to 30 mph. Sometime it also slips and jerks when I engage the reverse gear. I also started smelling a faint burning smell since then. At a 130000 I had the transmission fluid drained and filled again as the color of the fluid had changed to dark red. I had hoped that the slipping and jerking would go away, but that has not happened. In fact it has grown worse. I have gone online and have found out that mine is not an isolated problem. There are thousands of complaints from 2004-06 Maxima owners who are having similar problems with their transmissions. I think it is about time that Nissan owns up to this transmission problem with these 2004-06 Maximas and issues a recall, replacement and a fix of these defective transmissions. There are posts on numerous Nissan forums about owners who have figured out that all these problems are solenoid and valve related, within the bad transmissions. I did approach a Nissan dealership, explained this problem in detail, but got nowhere with them. They refuse to acknowledge that such a problem exists. I however got estimate of $4500 from one dealership for replacing the transmission in my car. I also understand there has been a class action lawsuit by some Nissan Maxima owners since 2011. I am currently researching joining them in this lawsuit. I am on my third Maxima since 1999. If Nissan does not come through with a recall/replacement/fix of this problem, this is surely my last one.
Transmission slipping, jerking and needs to be replaced. I am filing a complaint to document this early transmission failure, hoping for Nissan to issue a recall or assist with the repair.
I have a 2005 Nissan Maxima which has transmission problems. About 2 years ago I began experiencing jerking. I took car the dealer no codes came up at time and when they drove it at that time it drove fine. Continue to have issues and went back now to find out I need a new valve body. Unfortunately the valve body has cause extensive damage to the transmission so I now need to have transmission replaced. Per parts specialist and service advisor at Nissan they are aware of the issue with the valve body with the 2005 Nissan Maxima however Nissan corporate has not yet recalled it yet. Shame on you Nissan 3,800 to replace the transmission, I don't think so. No more Nissan for me. Nissan really need to own up to this issue. Its all over the internet. Please recall issue. Signed dissatisfied Nissan owner.
2005 Nissan Maxima purchased new in 2004. The car keeps making sudden violent jerking movements while driving creating a potential hazard for a car accident. When this happens I have to pull over and restart the car. I can not drive the car on major highways and can not go more that 35mph. The car feels like it is slipping when attempting to drive after being at a stop. There is a long hesitation before the car begins to drive after being put in gear to drive. It also jerks forward suddenly when it does decide to move. Sometimes the car won't move when attempting to accelerate. At stop lights I have to shift gears at times to get it to move. Another incident included the car not stopping. I had to move it into first gear to get it to stop. The car jerks backwards when reversing. When these problems started the car was taken to Nissan because we suspected a transmission problem. They told us it was not the transmission but instead motor mounts, rods, and bolts. I spent almost $3,000 to repair it and the problem still continued. Now, I am being told that it is the transmission and given an estimate of $3100. Nissan has diagnosed this problem. We discovered that there are thousands of other consumers with the same complaint for the 2004-2005 Maxima. This indicates that this is a common problem that Nissan is actually aware of. The battery has also had to be replaced 3times. The power doors no longer work neither does the sun roof. I have to drive to get to work and to get the kids to school. I do not like to drive with my kids in the car for fear that the car will not stop again or that there will be a collision because of the jerky movements and the the cars hesitation. Nissan has been contacted. No resolution has been offered at this time. Car is still at the dealership.
The tranny is shifting wrong in 1st and 2nd gear.
2005 Nissan Maxima sl transmission problems, the car has a real problem going into gear from 1st to 2nd gear.
I have a 2005 Maxima and I am having very bad transmission issues. When I take off it jerks real bad between 1st and 2nd gear and then when I am slowing down about to come to a stop it also kicks and jerks real bad when it gears down to 1st and 2nd. And sometimes it just wont go at all. . And then when I sit there a min and put my car from park to drive it hesitates for at least 7 to 10 secs. And then jumps real bad and then goes into drive. It usually does all this when the car is hot.
