3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2017

This vehicle is severely defective. This vehicle is not safe to be on the road. This vehicle has had several repairs for the same repair issue but the problem still exists. I have spent thousands on this vehicle and this vehicle is still inoperative and not drivable. This vehicle is a hazard for the road. Vehicle is unsafe! vehicle has still not been repaired. Please I like to be compensated and reimbursed for the loss I have suffered. Please compensate and/or reimbursed me for the $10,000. 00 I lost in a defective, inoperable, and unsafe vehicle. Thank god my child and I did not get seriously hurt while I was driving this vehicle. I remember one incident while I was driving this vehicle: right in the middle of me driving this vehicle I was going about 40-45 mph on the highway, the vehicle just shut down all of a sudden. The entire electrical system just shutdown. That was very frightening! so, yes I like to be fully compensated for all my troubles with this vehicle.

The contact's brother then diagnosed that the motor mount failed because the transmission was not shifting properly. The vehicle was not repaired again. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2016

The 2006 Nissan Maxima has a major issue of violently jerking after 100k miles, I have seen reports that it does this even before it reaches such mileage. I have a 2006 Nissan Maxima worst car I have ever bought I will never ever buy another Nissan product. The car violently jerks into gear when coming to a stop or driving off, this problem has been identified by many owners and Nissan has done nothing. I have spent 1800 hundred dollars replacing the engine mounts and the car still jerks. The car is paid for and I will not spend anymore replacing the transmission because that would cost more than what the car is worth.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2016

I own a 2006 Nissan Maxima worst car I ever owned and will never again buy another Nissan product. I think Nissan knows about the issue of the car jerking and suddenly revs for no apparent reason after about 90k or so miles the car is fairly useless I can't even drive mines anymore until I shell out 4k to get it fixed. Whenever I put it in drive it just jerks real hard to the point where I feel afraid to drive it. My wife actually got into an accident because just suddenly revs forward. I don't know why it does this but all owners that I have spoken to said the same thing.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2015

When going to accelerate or change gears (park to reverse) the car jerks. When driving in city and I break then take off, the car engine rev's like the gear has slipped . .

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

Although the car looks beautiful, it's quickly becoming one of my least favorite vehicles I've owned. When I start going forward, I have to wait and be very patient on the gas pedal to make sure it shifts properly or it will jerk myself and small children in the back forward. I park in a ramp at work and on more than one occassion the car was downshifting as I turned a corner going up the ramp and I was slowing for a pedestrian and the car jerked forward and the pedestrian jumped and gave me a scared look. Not only is that entirely embarassing as an executive but it is a huge safety hazard on multiple levels. The car seems to jerk the most from 1-2 and 2-3 and visa versa. I noted electrical as an affected part because no matter how many times I set the mirror and seats, every time I use reverse, the mirrors move and click until I adjust them to where I need them.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2015

My Maxima has been jerking and hesitating at low speeds. It is only when the car has been running for a bit and is warmed up. A few times it has slammed into gear so hard I thought I had been rear ended. It is so bad that I have to drive with my hazard light on. I'm afraid for my life and other drivers on the road. This problem shouldn't be taken lightly and I believe nissian should be held accountable.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2015

I have a 2006 Nissan Maxima. I was going 30 mph, I hit a truck that was stopped at a red light. My airbags did not deploy. $4870 in damage but my insurance company said there was not enough damage to be considered a total loss ($170 away from being considered a total loss).

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2014

Pulling away from a stoplight, the transmission jerked violently from 1st to 2nd gear of the automatic transmission. The vehicle went into "limp mode" only going to 20 miles per hour on a very busy street with no turn off. Car was towed, and new transmission needed. Nissan will not take responsibility for the repair.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2014

I took my vehicle in for some service and was told my timing chain needed to be replaced. It is going to cost over $2000. 00 for the work. I have investigated this and found numerous other complaints about this. Nissan has issued as technical service bulletin on this problem. It appears a plastic part was used on the timing chain and it wears prematurely. I spoke to an independent mechanic and learned the timing chain should be good for at least 100000 miles. I was told by Nissan that if the problem was not corrected, it could result in major damage to the vehicle. In addition, if the timing chain fails, the vehicle could be rear-ended since the failure makes the vehicle inoperable.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2014

In neighbor driving 30, car jumps and motor idles. Has jumped into reverse when trying to shift to drive. While putting the car in reverse trying park, the car jumps instead of driving. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 108,000.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

After car has been driven for about 30 minutes the transmission slips and hesitates when shifting, especially into and out of 3rd gear. Took it to the dealership and I didn't even have to tell them what was wrong, he asked me if my transmission was acting up. When I said yes he rattled off about 5 things people have been experiencing (hard shifting in reverse, hesitation in upshifting, etc) and I said yes to each one. Without even looking at it he said it would be $4,000 for a new transmission because all of them have that problem. I contacted Nissan about paying for it and they refused, twice. I've almost gotten into a handful of accidents because of this. Switching lanes to pass someone on the highway and the transmission hesitates and sends the rpm's to 7000 and I almost get rear-ended, then when it does shift it jerks so hard the car swerves all over the road. It shifts so hard my engine mounts are broken and need replaced too.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2013

After my car warms up if I go from neutral to drive it does not change immediately. It takes about 3 to 5 seconds then it slams into gear.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

I recently purchased a 2006 Nissan Maxima automatic transmission with roughly 47. 5k miles on it. When I am in traffic and accelerating and breaking constantly, my car jams into gear. When I go from drive to reverse and back again (parallel parking, 3-point turn) my car has trouble getting into gear and then finally slams into gear. Mostly happens in first 3 gears. I have researched online and noticed that this is a reoccurring problem with the valve body in Nissan Maximas, specifically 2006 models.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, there was a sudden reduction in engine power. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who informed the contact that the catalytic converter would need to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The failure mileage and VIN was unavailable.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2012

Hard shift in low gears when engine is warm/hot. Will rev up to higher rpm when driving slowly then shifts to higher gear.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2012

My car was under 90k miles when it experienced transmission slippage, premature clutch wear, overheating, and other problems that ultimately resulted in serious and expensive damage to my vehicles transmission.

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2012

I was going through a stop sign, and after I stopped, I pressed the gas only to see the rpms shoot up without the vehicle moving for five seconds, then the car finally kicked into gear. This is very unsafe and this is not the first incident.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2012

Every time I put car in gear it jumps and feels like car falling apart. As I am driving and get up to 50 miles per hour the car will jerk. The entire body of car feels like it's coming apart.

The vehicle is violently jerking and switching between gears while slowing down or going down hill.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2012

Issues with the transmission surging and then a hard jerk or gear shift. Took it to the shop, and before checking, the shop owner was familiar with the issue because mine was the 4th '06 Maxima that had been brought in that week with the same problems. I have a black car thats 6 years old and the paint has faded almost to white on the roof of my car.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2012

I am having a problem with my car jerking profusely when switching gears. It will do this as well when I come to a stop and then take off. There is something definitely wrong with this make/model/year vehicle. I love my car but after seeing throughout the internet alot of people having the exact same problem, I do not believe my next purchase will be a Nissan. The manufacturer should be recalling and fixing this issue. Maybe families that have lost loved ones while driving this vehicle should investigate the cause of accident a little further.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2012

I drove to work which is about 10 miles from my residence, parked to retrieve some paprework then returned to my vehicle. I started my vehicle and placed the transmission in drive, with my foot on the brakes as required while changing gears. There was a big time delay before the transmission engaged into the drive position. There also was a loud and very hard "bang" causing me to be forced rearward in the seat and the vehicle jumped forward, as if there was not a foot on the brakes. At this point the vehicle is engaged in the drive position. I spoke to a representative at the dealership where I bought the vehicle new in April of 2006,all they had to say is I must pay $109 for a diagnosis of the problem and hopefully they could duplicate it. I also spoke to Nissan America consumer hotline and they also said that I must have it dealt with through the dealer, and they will see what they could do . At the time of this entry, the vehicle has 55000 mile exact. I have been on numerous site online and saw compliants about the same problem, with the transmission as a known fault. Transmissions from Nissan between the years of 2004 to 2007. All the complainants states they have not gotten any solution from Nissan America.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2012

My car was bought at a Nissan dealership in 2011 of December, in January I noticed the car jerking and shifting while driving 20 to 30 miles. So I took the car back at the dealership and they said that they will only give me another car only if the problem is in the transmission, they told me that the problem is my motor mount is broken, and they don't cover anything outside the transmission or engine only the inside. . The total amount to fix was 500 but I had no money to do it. They gave me an option of taking an extended warranty which it was expensive for me so I shopped for a warranty and I got a full bumper to bumper for a cheaper price than what they gave me. It took me 3months to go back to the dealer with a new warranty they fixed the motor mount but the issue is still their. A Nissan technician took it for a test drive they suggested that I need a new transmission and there's no way I'm willing to give them my car again to fix because it took them along time to realize the problem telling me to fix your car we need to get it out of idle and emission needs to be checked that's what they were saying before they realize its a transmission. . I love Nissan Maxima but in order to keep a customer like me to stay loyal please fix the issue and do the right thing by recalling the vehicles.

I was first told that the cataylic converter was gone, had that replaced, then was told 2 motor mounts were gone, had them replaced and still have the same problem, with the car jerking with a hard knock into 1 and 2nd gear and now it is accelerating while driving and jerking into gear. Nissan needs to recall the transmission on these 2006 Maximas there are so people having the same problem.

32 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2011

I was driving 45mph and came to a red light which I stopped and when the light turned green I placed my foot on the gas and my Nissan would not get past 3rd gear and jerked really bad before it would accelerate. This happens now all the time and I even had transmission fluid replaced in my car which has not prevented the issue that I am still having faulty transmission.

33 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2011

The transmission is failing and Nissan customer services is rude! you can't get Nissan to admit there are faulty transmissions on some of there Nissan cars/trucks/SUV's. I will never purchase a Nissan again. It's the sensors I was told that are causing the problems. So, then you have to purchase a entire transmission because it cannot be bought alone. Thank you, too mad!.

34 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

The transmission slips, jumps out of gear between gears. Often it will go to shift then it revs up not in gear instead of shifting then after a few seconds it slams hard into gear. This is not a daily constant issue it is random and sometimes will go weeks between having the issue pop up. When it pops up it will happen during that entire drive. The next time it is driven even that same day even just 15 minutes later it will not have shifting issues sometimes it does. There are many many many customers complaining about this issue with Nissan transmissions.

35 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2011

My 2006 Maxima's transmission gave out at 74,000 miles of normal use. There are 1,000's of others with this same problem and most have had to pay around $3,000 out of pocket to have the transmission replaced. There are some that were fortunate to have all or most of the costs paid by Nissan, even when the warranty was expired. Nissan refuses to assist with my repair stating that I didn't take it to the dealership for it's regular maintenance. Bbb auto line states that the vehicle is too old for them to assist in my repair cost recovery. This is a huge issue with this generation of Maxima and there should be a forced recall, no matter the cost to the manufacturer. We paid a lot of money for their flagship model and we should not have to pay even more for their faulty transmissions. Also, broken engine mounts seem to be high on the list of problems with this vehicle, which my Maxima also has. Very frustrating. Need to find help in filing a class action suit against Nissan.
