1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2019

When driving the car would loose power and not accelerate. Driving onto on ramp to highway and car would not accelerate and started to loose speed while merging. No lights came on dash or anything. Seems like the car went into limp mode or something.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2015

While driving on the interstate I felt an explosion and nearly lost control of my blood pressure, and I suffer from hyper-tension. The moon roof exploded and I had no idea what had happened. I looked around to see if a gun had been pointed at me because the sound was similar and the impact to the car felt as though it had been hit by an object. The cover over the moon roof was closed so that prevented any glass from entering and cutting me. I pulled off at the next exit to find a gapping hole, shattered glass on the roof and my heart beating rapidly. Once I got home I taped the roof and by the time I got to the repair shop the next day the pressure caused the roof to reopen and continue to break. I contacted Nissan to see if this vehicle was under recall and they said no. The cost was my expense. Now I do not open the shade at all for fear of this happening again resulting in injury. I live in a very hot and humid and rainy climate and when this occured the temperature was in the 70's, and the time of day was approx 6:45pm. I asked the glass company had they had any customers in with this problem and they affirmed. The moon roof glass was ordered and shipped directly to the glass company and my car was out of commission for a few days. The moon roof does not open at all, it was designed that way. If a safety notice had been attached I more than likely would not have purchased this type of vehicle.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2014

I was driving my car on an average day. As I made a right turn, ahead of oncoming traffic, I tried to accelerate and my car would not accelerate above 20-30mph. With traffic swiftly approaching at speeds near 40-50mph, luckily, I was able to pull into a nearby gas station. None of my check engine/warning lights were on. I turned the car off and started it back up but the issue remained. When I tried to accelerate the car wouldnt o over 30mph and was making a heaving vibration noise every time I stopped. I was able to get the car to a Nissan dealership who ultimately recommended the repairs outlined in the service bulletin. My warranty company denied the claim "citing water damage", but the bulletin lists the pfp (primary failed part) as the "housing assy- rear axle,rh" (which should have been covered). I bought the vehicle used (from a Nissan dealer) and becasue the manufacturers warranty had expired I was forced to pay for the repairs ($1,000+) on a vehicle that I barley had for 1 year. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs (as recomended by the dealership) to try and get some type of assistance with this issue. They basically told me its not their problem since the Nissan warranty had expired on the vehicle. Nissan is very well aware of this defect that is a severe safety concern due to the obvious design. I luckily had time and space to move my vehicle safely off the road; the next person may not be as lucky. Nissan should and needs to be held responsible for the overall safety of their all vehicles and this ongoing defect. A recall should be mandated to correct this potential hazard while driving. A life is far more valuable than recall expenses. . Read more...

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2014

My abs/traction control system failed. Due to the system failing the vehicle transmission malfunctions. This happened while I was driving on the highway traveling at the recommended speed. Due to the abs/traction control system failing my vehicle decelerated quickly causing a unsafe environment for me, my passenger and the vehicles behind me. Fortunately the vehicles behind me was at a safe distance and no accident was caused. I had to have the vehicle towed to safe location because this malfunction causes the transmission to not shift from a low gear. This problem with my vehicle is unsafe and I have just found that it is a common problem. Yet there has been no responsible action taken by Nissan. Please investigate this issue.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Maxima. The contact was driving 25 mph when the vehicle decreased acceleration to 20 mph without warning and despite that the accelerator pedal was being depressed. The vehicle has no power between 20-45 mph. Abs, slip, tcs off and brake lights are now on. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer confirmed that the rr and lr abs sensor failed, hub assemblies needed to be replace and the abs actuator now needs replacement at a near total cost of $3300.
