The power on the dashboard goes out and I have no way of knowing my speed, the milage, or any other information on how the vehicle is operating. The radio and other dashboard instruments are off the screens are black and I can't receive any information on how the vehicle is operating. Our safety is at risk since when this happens, we don't know if it would stop abruptly and cause an accident. We have not taken it to a dealer yet but are scheduling an appointment. No other parties have inspected the vehicle yet. The warning that came across the radio screen was this: check the map sd memory card please see the owner's manual in detail set: qy8100na application: 102 sno: 00010697 application: 107 e-code: nk-sd-11 this first happened in the later part of March on the 28th of this year. The dash does this off and on thing randomly and sometimes it runs fine. The owner's manual didn't help.

Low beam headlights are extremely/dangerously low even if the lights are brand new. In my opinion it's extremely dangerous to drive with only my high beams on but thats the only way I can see at night theres no confidence in relying on my low beams.
The airbag light does not go out once the vehicle has been started and while driving.

The dim lights on the vehicle are very dim, the fog lights are brighter than the dim lights. I’ve replaced the bulbs and headlights and neither fixed the issue. You can barely see in front of the car with the dim lights. It’s very unsafe to drive at night.
1. Both headlights on dim are so dim that you cannot drive safely, they do not project in front of the car far enough to see at night, dawn or dusk. I am concerned if other cars I meet can even see me approaching. My flashlight shines brighter and farther. I have replaced the bulbs for the dim lights and it did no good. 2. Drove to California and was in west texas after dark, could not see the road after dark. 3. My relative is a mechanic and he has confirmed the defective illumination with my dim lights. 4. It has not been confirmed by any officials such as insurance or police. 5. I noticed this problem about 1 year ago. I have been having to run bright lights if I must drive after dark. This is dangerous, illegal if meeting another car, etc. This is a seriously dangerous problem. I have researched on the internet for several weeks looking for a solution. I finally ran across your website. I did see that the Nissan altima had a recall for their defective headlights. This should also be a recall for the Maxima. I have driven Nissan's for many years and never had this defect. I don't know how recalls are initiated but if it is through the NHTSA it should be investigated promptly as this issue could cost someone's life. If this is the agency that initiates a recall this should happen now. All of us Maxima drivers who are having this issue of which according to my research are many, would appreciate any help. I'm sure many Maxima drivers are not aware there is a complaint procedure, I didn't. I am going to have to go to an auto parts retailer, buy two headlight assemblies and use a body shop to install and this will be very expensive. Thank you for your help.

The headlights are dim. I have replaced them with brighter h11 bulbs but I still cannot see. Others who have driven my car have indicated that the headlights are noticeably dimmer than normal. I literally cannot see the roadway. Also, I started having problems with the cvt shortly before 60,000miles. The problem was diagnosed as rudder codes. I was not financially able to replace the cvt at the time although I did ultimately replace it. The headliner inside the car has been falling down for years and I keep re gluing it around the rear view window. The panoramic sunroof has a seal that is melting away on the two side panels at the rear of the car. I keep trying to seal them, but they keep getting sticky and melting towards total deterioration.
I’ve been getting pulled over by the state trooper because of my headlights they’re stating they aren’t bright enough. The bulb was changed and still same problem. My Nissan was slow to accelerate while driving, then looses power, turns off.
Low beam headlights are dangerously low. No matter the quality of bulbs or the clarity of the lights the low beam headlights offer extremely limited visibility. Requires high beams when driving at night. I have had numerous mechanics look at the issue and it stems from a failure of the projector in the headlamp.
My headlights are clouded on the inside from condensation getting inside the light. Nissan says the lights are vented and the water should drain. Water drains but condensation from water has clouded my headlights.
The dim lights appear not to be on when driving at night or early morning. I have to drive with my bright lights on. I thought the bulb case was cloudy but that is not the situation. The dim lights simply do not shine as they should. This is very dangerous to myself and other drivers that I approach. I thought I was the only owner of a Nissan Maxima with this problem but, I am not. My friend is having the exact same problem.
It has the check engine light on, it takes time to start and when it is driving it turns off (but it turns on). It goes off on flat surfaces, and when you are on a rise that's where it takes to catch on.

Car wreck airbags didn't deploy and car is totaled.
Drivin with your lights on dim you can't hardly see the road. The lighting does not extend far out in from of the car. It only show a few lil feet out in front of the car. I have tried usin other bulb type to see if it works better. And no it doesn't. Someone said Nissan told them the cars aren't grounded that good. I drive with my on bright to someone blinks and tell me to dim my lights.

1)my instrument panel went out some years ago that displays warning or problems with the car. It flashes off and on periodically after driving for a while. I have taken this to Nissan several times, but due to it being out of warranty they want do anyting about it. Several certified Nissan dealers service dept. Stated that should not be going out. 2) I have had battery issues within the first year of purchasing the car back in Nov. 2011, since it was under warranty all they did was replace the battery. Since then every year or two years I have to keep replacing the battery until hear recently July 2018. This will be the 4 or 5 time replacing this battery within the 6 years of ownig this car. Everytime I tatke it to one of Nissan service center there explanation is the texas heat drains the battery. That excuse does not make any since to me.

Passenger headlamp fail, took to Nissan, they claim they have never seen one fail. I feel like my families life is now at stake.
Passenger running light quit working, headlamp itself works. Took to local Nissan dealer. They told me they have never seen one just fail. Definitely a safety hazard if they are just failing.
Vehicle headlamp failed according to the Nissan dealer we took it to. They claimed they have never seen one fail. Now I'm freaked out to drive car thinking about what if the other fails completely. They will do nothing to fix it. Its a major safety issue. I don't want to get into a wreck if the headlamps fail on both sides. They are putting myself and daughter at risk.
My mechanic tells me Maxima 2011 has a common problem that needs to reprogram the ecm. "service engine light soon keeps appearing" this should be a free service because my car does not need a new mass air flow sensor. Please factory recall this issue. My car is actually in great shape at 49,000 miles. Here are the list of cars affected. . Read more...

My 2006 Nissan Maxima is shifting gears on its on as if there is a transmission problem. The steering wheel keeps shifting to one side the guys at the wheel alignment place told me it's the rack and pinion. They also informed me that the rack and pinion goes out very fast and the part is about 400$. The gas light and the light that tells you that you need coolant has been on and stays on. The car is not running hot and my car has a full tank of gas.

First after buying this Nissan Maxima 2006, I noticed that my head light lamps needed to be changed every 14 months. I never had a car where I had to replace the head light lamps so often. Both of my other cars (Toyota and Honda) have over 100k miles and we never had to change the lamps on those cars. Next, the abs brakes are not working properly, really? after 70k miles? wow! later I found out that this is a common problem with this car. The abs appear to be running while the car is moving and on dry roads. Finally, the transmission. Why do I have a slipping transmission on a car with only 64k miles. After research, I found out that the problems that I'm having with this Nissan Maxima, hundreds of other owns are having the same problems. I always had Honda and Toyota cars and I decided to try something new in this Maxima. I will never buy Nissan again, I'm running back to Honda and Toyota!!!.
Vehicle headlamps and and taillight
if in the direct sun they fog in about 2-3 years, visibility drops more than 50% it certainly effects safety and no long meet strict dot requirements. The glass type was perfectly suitable before. If you notice there is now a big business polishing lenses. Pls start a class action against the mfgs. Ask anyone. Check any vehicle over 5 years old and you see.

2006 Nissan Maxima transmition keeps sliping and jerking in-between gears. There is a growling noise coming from the engine. There is a squeeking coming from the front driverside shock. Took to Nissan dealership to have it inspected and ended up having to have the transmission rebuilt and they couldnt "reconstruct the noises from the shock" and they couldnt identify the what was causing the noise from the engine.

Exhaust/emission - catalytic converter failed and makes terrible noise - not fixed yet. Dealer says, car will work without any problems at 103,000 miles (8th year) body frame - under carriage on driver side rusted, with a bulge. Dealer said, rusting it not enough, you should be able to put the screw driver or finger through the rusted portion. 35000 miles ( after 5years and 2 days) transmission - it jerks and is very dangerous on the road. Repair estimation is around $3500 from the dealer. When the car comes to a stop in the traffic light, then sometimes, it does not move. After accelerating a bit, it just jumps. It is very very hard to go in a stop and go traffic. So I maintain a certain distance keeping this in mind. Nissan motor corporation does not care for any of the issues. Dealer comes up with one or the other reason. Until now they have never worked conducively with the customers. 103,000 (9th year. ) engine - the timing chain failed, engine was making the sound of a railroad. Costed a lot to get it fixed, and after that, sound is not completely gone. After multiple compliants, they are not bothered. They say, use only 93 octance. 103,000(9th year).
