I've had my car for a little over a year and only one owner before me, it has been maintained well. My car has been making a noise for months now so I finally took it to a dealership (on August 3, 2019) and was told nothing was wrong. Not even a week later it broke down almost 2 hours from my house. Other than the knocking noise (which including a popping noise), uneven tire wear (had a blow out on 65 3 hours from home), it started not accelerating when I was at a stop sign or light. It still runs, but I've spent over $500 within a months time trying to receive answers and haven't yet. I see recalls for other years as in the suspension/strut insulator cracking. Also, I've seen other complaints about transmissions slipping and Nissan not wanting to fix them. I am now expecting my first child and have no form of transportation due to Nissan and their dealerships not knowing basic car knowledge nor wanting their customers safe and satisfied.

The local dealer downtown nashville Nissan (25 vantage way, nashville TN. ) was notified and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA recall campaign number 09v358000(suspension). The contact indicated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recalls. . The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000. Jft.
Takata inflators. I've noticed that the rear driver side suspension does not suspend correcly. I feel the rear tire slipping under normal weather conditions. So much so that one can feel the tire slip. Please keep in mind that my tires are still new. I'm also hearing a weird sound that comes from the same area. I'm not sure what's happening. This happens when the car is in motion.

Purchased car new with 9 miles. Day two owing car, sway bar had to be replace but was fixed. The issue is the rear end of the car sags when there is either back seat passengers or weight in the trunk now. After the first month of owing the car, there has been and still is a clinging/clanging noise from the rear suspension area. While the car had the original factory warranty, multiple Nissan dealerships could not find any issues that were visible. In September of 2019, Nissan state's I need new rear shocks to fix the issue. After purchasing the new shocks from the dealership and getting them installed, issue still exist and it's worse now than before.

Rattling, cracking, vibration and road noise coming from the front while driving on the road at any speed. Noise was very noticeable if road was bumpy. In my emails with Nissan they only would refer me to a local dealership, which is 1 hour away. I forward Nissan documents found on the internet stating the this year model had strut and suspension problems. Nissan could only tell me to see a local dealer.

I was at a red light, when it turned green I pushed the gas petal and it would go. I had to use extreme force for the car to go. Ever since February 2014, its been happening every day. I'm scared the gas petal's going to get stuck and ill crash. When I turn I hear a knocking noise coming from the tire/suspension.

Our vehicle began making loud squeaking/rattling sounds under our hood on the front passenger side. We noticed the sounds were getting louder, so my husband decided to take our vehicle into a Nissan dealership for observation on December 24, 2013. While at the dealership, he was told very quickly that the sounds we had been hearing were the result of the cracking of our suspension/strut insulator. He was also told that the same cracking suspension/strut insulator problem that we are experiencing had affected mostly all of the 2009-2010 Maxima model vehicles that had been manufactured, launching a recall (NHTSA campaign number 09v358000), effective September 16, 2009. After finding out this information, we contacted Nissan motor acceptance corporation on December 24, 2013, but nmac was closed. On December 27, 2013, I contacted a representative at nmac and explained the issues that we are having with our 2009 Nissan Maxima, and stated the issues we are experiencing are the exact issues that were documented as a vehicle hazard under the NHTSA campaign number 09v358000. I was told by the representative that my VIN # was not affected by this recall; however, I asked the representative to please extend the recall campaign to include my VIN #, since obviously, my Nissan Maxima was one of the first 2009 models manufactured, and it is clear that whatever problems the rest of the 2009 models are experiencing, unless the formula regarding how the suspension/strut insulators had been manufactured when I purchased my vehicle had changed, then there is no way my vehicle could not have been affected. After several days of communication back and forth with the Nissan representative, we were told today that Nissan will not extend the recall to included my VIN # but will only offer to pay 1/2 the cost of the parts only, no labor costs.
Clicking noise in front suspension at initial back up or forward moving after car has settled for over several hours. It only clicks one time. Front end shakes at speeds over 60 miles and hour on smooth highway surfaces. Nissan states if the issue can not be duplicated when they test it then it can not be addressed. Penske Nissan turnersville NJ.
The contact owns 2001 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that there was a knocking and grounding sound in the steering column. The dealer stated that the vehicle was not a part of NHTSA recall campaign number 02v146000, suspension although the failure was identical to the recall. The failure and current mileages were 59000.
I purchased a 2009 Nissan Maxima on November 12th 2009, unknowingly that Nissan issued a recall for the front suspension (recall summary Nissan is recalling certain model year 2009 and 2010 altima and Maxima passenger cars. The upper front strut insulators may have been manufactured out of specification resulting in a potential for the strut insulator to crack) I heard noises from the front area of the car and took it into the dealership, where the service department said they could not find a problem, I took the car back and the noise got worse, I took the car back to the dealer and was told they recalled the vehicle for a sound dampener, and was replaced. I took my family on a 2 hour road trip when my vehicle began to make serious noises, the car began to jerk and shake. I looked online and noticed a recall that was never brought to my attention, the recall states that "if the strut insulator is cracked, there is a potential for the strut rod to come out of its mounting position, which could affect vehicle stability and increase the risk of a crash", I returned to the dealership and spoke with the sales manager and was told that "if I felt that the car is unsafe then don't drive it!". I am paying for a car that is extremely dangerous and was sold this car after the recall and still has not been fixed. I believe that my family and I have been severely been put in harms way and have been lied to about a recall! I feel that the dealership had the duty to repair a crucial safety issue on a vehicle that was present on their lot. I have made three attempts to have the vehicle repaired and now fear for the safety of my family.
The contact owns a 2001 Nissan Maxima. While driving approximately 45 mph, the contact heard a squeaking sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle then began veering to the right. A month later, the vehicle was towed to a local repair shop due to a flat tire on the driver's side. The tire was replaced. Within the same month, the vehicle was returned to the repair shop due to the tire and alignment. The mechanic stated that the transverse link was defective in the front suspension, which caused the vehicle to lean to the right. The mechanic further stated that there was a recall relating to this failure. The dealer and manufacturer were notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The current mileage was 137,000 and failure mileage was 127,000. Updated 01/06/09. Updated 01/06/09.
Rattling noise comes from suspension assy. Over small bump over low speed.

Purchased used 06 Maxima in Aug-Sep time frame. Vehicle had problems with noise coming from suspension either front or back(unknown at the time). Noise never went away. Recent oil change revealed rear suspension replacement by goodyear service rep. Check with NHTSA and found out recall for power seats and rear suspension. Recall repairs was not done to car. Does dealership require knowledge of all recalls for used vehicles.

My 2004 Nissan Maxima has been experiencing loud rattling noise when driving and severe shaking of the steering when applying the brakes. In April 2006 I took the car to the dealership. They stated the struts and suspension needed to be placed and insisted I pay for it. The struts had been replaced in the car previously in April of 2005 along with defective rotors. They also suggested the belts be replaced because they were cracking. I have not had the car two years yet, but parts on this vehicle continue to malfunction exhibiting all signs of defective manufacturing. Additionally I replaced two of the originally tires (goodyear rsa 18") at 12k and 20k miles for tears in the sidewalls. I have reviewed the other complaints on file for this vehicle from other owners and unfortunately I share the same problems with my Maxima.
: the contact stated during sudden acceleration the vehicle veers to the left or right. The problem usually occurs while driving 40 to 50mph. Previously, the dealership replaced the strut due to a knocking sound coming from the front suspension. The veering problem did not occur until the strut was replaced. When the vehicle was returned to the dealer, it was determined the vehicle is designed to veer during sudden acceleration.
Continuous problem. Suspension not properly functional on the right side of vehicle. Feels like loss of control may occur. Loud noise on right side when outside temperature above 75 degrees. Repeated trips for inspection at dealer. On one occasion the rear shocks were replaced.

2002 Nissan Maxima se when making sharp left turns, accelerating from stopped position, loud grinding noise from front suspension is present more than 50% of the time. Have returned car to dealer 6 times over 18 months with no resolution. Dealer has performed only one actual repair - which did not addres problem. Dealer has become uncooperative stating they have done "all they can".

I purchased a used 2000 Nissan Maxima that had 28,000 miles on it almost 3 years ago. I have only put 6,000 miles on the car, but have had problems with the check engine light being on almost continuously since I purchased the vehicle. I took it to my regular mechanic when it had to pass smog inspection. He temporarily fixed the engine light problem, but soon as I accelerated over 50 miles per hour, the light came on again. I have also had problems with the brakes, which had to be completely replaced twice, the ignition (car wouldn't start), and, a problem with the car when downshifting (engine seizes up violently). There is also a suspension problem, as car makes loud noise every time I have to go over speed bumps. My son is ready to get his driver's license, and I will have to get rid of this car at a loss, as I do not feel the car is safe for him to drive.

Transmission failure: bought vehicle in April of '99. Transmission began to slip at 15k. Reman trans under warranty. 2nd slip occurred at 30k under warranty. Denied vehicle trade. Reman trans. 3rd occurrence at 45k, replaced trans w/ oem under warranty. Denied trade. Transmission failure at high temp for long drives (2 hr incline) and had to wait for the trans to cool before it drove again, one occurrence at 55k, oil ok. Still intermittent power loss/slippage. Dealership unable to recreate problem. Denied trade. Ignition coils: knocking, bad gas mileage, and power loss due to ignition coil failure at 70k. Was told I needed to replace all coils rather than the one that was damaged and all spark plugs. Alternator went out after repair. Replaced all coils, plugs and alternator ($1500). Still have power loss & occasional knocking. No help from Nissan. Denied trade. Suspension: constant knocking of tire area at 60k. All 4 hubs damaged and replaced at 65k. All 4 struts leaking and had to be replaced also at 65k. No help from Nissan. Nissan quote $3000. Opted outside repair for $1000, no more problems. Emissions: more loss of power (3000rpm+) and bad gas mileage. Probably linked to ignition coil problem. Problem has been diagnosed to 1 of 4 catalytic converter sensor failures. 130k. No help from Nissan. $3000+. Fan: loud noise when a/c is on. One fan defective at 80k. Fan blade rubbing on metal frame. Replaced fan $200. No help from Nissan. Conclusion: I wanted to have my vehicle considered a lemon and traded. I had no complaint with Nissan or the Maxima line. I only had a problem with just my car. Just wanted a new Maxima. 5 lemon attempts with Nissan, rejected each time. Dismissed under strict lemon law stipulation regarding repair statute of limitations and guidelines of repair. Vehicle has been nothing but trouble. Properly maintained and have maintenance receipts and dates of each occurrence listed above.
The check engine light was illuminated, and there was a noise coming from the suspension. Ph.
