36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2012

First the passenger side electric door locks were failing to lock or unlock, within weeks both rear locks started failing! this is a very major safety concern for my wife and daughter. Plus in the drive the other night it didn't lock and someone got in and vandalized the interior and took personal items.

37 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2012

We have a 2005 Nissan Murano that has had the door lock actuators fail repeatedly since we've owned the car. When the locks fail, the doors and rear hatch can not be opened or locked with either the remote fob or the electric controls on the doors. They need to be opened manually by releasing the locking lever by hand. Often when they fail the rear hatch can not be opened because there is not a manual release this is extremely dangerous and is a known problem with this style of door lock actuator. Nissan is aware of this issue and has deemed the repair out of warrantee even though this problem has occurred while under warrantee and ever since. The individual actuator for each door approaches $500 in cost. They've advised to not have this problem, buy a new vehicle which is not acceptable. There are numerous instances of internet complaints on this issue. General motors ignored their problems for years and Nissan is effectively ignoring this problem. The design of the lock actuator itself is defective and needs to be replaced with a better designed component.

38 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2011

I started to notice that when I'd use my keyless entry that the doors wouldn't unlock so I replaced my keyless entry only to discover that wasn't it using the panel on the drivers side if I unlock/lock the doors only 1 door aside from the drivers will unlock. . . My trunk will unlock selectively and with this model there is no other way to get in our out the trunk aside from the tail gate I took it to the dealer to get it fixed and when his response immediately was "it's your actuators, we get these all the time with your kind of car" it struck a nerve with me and I didn't get it done when I found out the cost is $400 per door that's including labor I then started to do research on line and I see forums of over a thousand 05/06 Murano owners with the same issue that im having some have replaced them some have complained there was petitions and nothing has been done god forbid someone who doesn't realize this gets in and like most of us locks there doors behind them only to realize it didn't with something awful like a burglary or something. . . What if there is an accident and they cant get to the victim because the doors don't unlock these are worst case scenarios but this should not be common.

39 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2011

Has faulty electronic locks. Viewed as a safety issue as it prevents the ability to get in and/or out in a quick and efficient manner should there be an emergency. The door will not unlock/lock using the electronic devices or buttons and in order to unlock the door you have to open another door and reach over and manually unlock. I have significant concerns related to my and my family's safety in the vehicle. After research it appears that this problem is common and Nissan is not taking any responsibility to replace or repair causing significant (up to $1600) financial cost to the owner.

40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2011

Began having issues with the locks to the point the rear hatch locks and won't unlock, not all doors lock or unlock anymore. Took to our mechanic and when he replaced the switch it still didn't work. He did some research and said this is an issue from Nissan directly with the actuators.

41 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2011

Electronic door lock on the driver side would sporadically unlock or lock door. . . Now is all the time and must be locked manually. This is a safety hazard when trying enter the vehicle in an un secure environment or can result in stolen merchandise or parts left in the vehicle. Driver side sun visor also well not stay in upright position and drops suddenly blocking the view of the driver.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

Front door locks don't work with remote or proximity fob.

43 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2011

The door locks on my vehicle will not lock or unlock with the keyless remote and the passengers front door lock will not lock or unlock unless manually locked and also the backseat behind the passenger that door will not lock or unlock with the keyless remote this is a safety hazard for my young children riding in my car. The manufacturer of the these vehicles should be held responsible for the cost to correct these problems apparently this has been an on going issue with these door locks as to what I have seen with the complaints posted. What is it going to take to get these locks fixed before young children get killed.

44 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2011

The power locks do not work all the time when using the fob or the switch inside the door. The doors and lift gate do not always lock or unlock. My wife has been locked out of the car in the meijer’s parking lot with our two small children unable to get in car. This is a major safety issue and I find it unacceptable. I am concerned that if there was an accident, fire, severe weather that my family would not be able to get in or out (depending on the situation) of the car in a timely manner causing injury or death. Doing some research I have found that there are many other Nissan Murano and other Nissan vehicle owners that have been having the same problem. It all appears that Nissan issued a recall for the frontier pickup for this same issue. We now have to leave the vehicle unlocked at all times so we can get in and out without incident. Please call me if you have any further questions. Thanks.

45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2011

Door locks not functioning properly. Will not lock/unlock from fob or interior switch on the interior of the vehicle. This is a safety concern because in the event of a crash you may not be able to unlock the doors to exit the vehicle or it may prevent emergency medical personnel to easily gain access to the vehicle. It is also a concern because it can potentially leave the vehicle vulnerable to potential theft of items in the interior of the vehicle since they don't reliably lock.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2011

It seems that I have all of the well known problems with the Nissan Murano. I got the air bag light that won't turn off which to me is a major safety and very dangerous issue. I heard that in case of an accident the air bags and seat belts won't work. Nissan needs to address this problem ASAP before someone or multiple people lose their life because of their lack of responsibility. Another problem I have is none of door actuators work including the rear hatch door except for the driver's side door that door is the only door that unlocks and locks which I also think it's another safety issue. I also have the bad power steering rack which I mentioned a lot is a safety issue. The steering has so much play that its difficult to drive I wish Nissan would step up to the plate and admit that these should be repaired because of their bad engineering with these trucks.

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2011

Airbag light flashing, both front door locks quit working at the same time along with the hatch lock that gets stuck, now the sun visor on drivers side is falling down.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2011

Power failure, inability to accelerate and possibility to being rear-ended as a result.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

All of my locks no longer work. I have seen countless complaints about this very issue and nothing is getting done about it. I thought Nissan was suppose to be one of the best out there. I'll never buy another Nissan again if they continue not to assist their customers. I also have the air intake issue, thankfully that was recalled and will be fixed. I had to replace the front struts, oil cooler gasket, front sway bar links and the battery has been changed 3 times now. Very disappointed with Nissan and so embarrassed to even talk about the issues with this car. :(.

50 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2011

2005 Nissan Murano door lock actuators have gone bad. I have googled this on line and have found nearly every owner has had electrical problems with this vehicle - this being one of the number one issues. However, Nissan refuses to issue a recall and fix this problem. What is it going to take? how many people have to have this problem before they realize that it is something they did wrong in the manufacturing of this vehicle? am I really going to have to pay $1600 to repair this on a 6 year old car? not good customer service Nissan!!!.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

The front drivers door failed. . More specifically, when the lock system is activated electronically, the doors typically fail to completely lock or unlock completely. Visually, the inside lock 'button' only moves partway. There is reason to believe this affects many owners of Nissan and infinity vehicles. Some suspect actuator problems and others suspect relay problems. There is an investigation into a class action law suit and there's petitions. The manufacturer doesn't want to claim responsibility and this problem is affecting thousands of owners. This problem has safety implication and can create potentially life threatening situations. I advice that this problem be taken seriously and make the manufacturers accountable for these defects. Thank you.

52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2010

The front drivers door is failing to lock or unlock from key fob or from lock/unlock switch on driver's door.

53 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2010

The front passenger door and lift gate locks are failing to lock or unlock from key fob or from lock/unlock switch on driver's door.

54 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

Tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) warning light stays on after driving about 10 miles. Light does not return after restarting vehicle until driven another 10 miles. Tire pressure checked and rechecked, but no problem with pressure, around 35 psi.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2010

Driver's door and rear passenger door locks will not lock when actuated from the door power lock or the remote power lock. This is a danger because it means door locks can not be relied to power lock or unlock in the event of an emergency.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2010

Power lock on passenger door on 2005 Nissan Murano would not lock or unlock it.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2010

Door locks starting with drivers side passenger and now the driver door will not lock or unlock unless manually changed with lever or key. This is a huge safety issue and should be addressed passenger doors are random however are starting to show similar signs thanks in advance.

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2010

Door locks problem. When I lock the doors with my control or from the inside, they don't lock or unlock. Same with the trunk, I cannot open my trunk because the system doesn't work. I contacted dealer and they told me I have to replace locks (all 5) for more than $1500. 00 I also see this issue is common in all Nissan in different years. A recalled should be called since this is a security issue with the car. Thanks.

59 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2009

Driver's side door actuator does not work to open/lock the door anymore. Safety issue for my wife's car. Online search showed 1000's of Nissan owners with the same problem. How this is not a recall I do not know.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

I have had intermittent problems opening the front driver side door with the keyless remote for 2 1/2 years and recently it has become a problem 99% of the time. About a month ago I discovered one of my rear doors was unlocked when it should not have been. Yesterday when a passenger tried to get in the back door on the opposite side it would not unlock even when using the interior button. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the only properly functioning door stops working and the gas cap will no longer open. How do you open the gas cap with a faulty locking mechanism?? is there a way to open it manually?? there is also a question of safety if doors cannot be locked and unlocked with the interior lock button. . . . Risk of car jacking, theft. Emergency personnel could not gain quick access in the event of an accident or fire or submersion when every second counts, especially involving infants and small children in car seats (or elderly) who can't or don't know how to manually unlock the door. Lives are at risk! the cost to repair one door is astronomical let alone having to repair three or all four. This is a widespread Nissan defect that they refuse to acknowledge and repair. I have always been a big Nissan fan and this is the third Nissan I have owned. I will not buy another one if they don't step up and fix this problem. We owners of these vehicles are reminded daily of the safety issues every single time we enter and exit our cars and have to manually check each door to make sure they are all locked. A recall needs to be issued. This is a safety concern.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2007

The problem with my car was the involuntary locking of all doors without my involvement whenever I parked the car somewhere. This proved very inconvenient at times when I didn't have my car keys with me. The dealer kept the car for a few days only to tell me they could not solve the problem. They didn't even offer to contact Nissan with the problem.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2006

Exiting parking lot onto roadway, engine hesitation with little acceleration, awd lock comes on, service engine soon comes on. Turn off roadway, shut off vehicle and restart, no acceleration power, malfunction indicator lights still on - cannot drive vehicle. Next morning towed to dealership; report is a code u1000 - electrical and ground wire problem. TSB procedure followed based on the code. However, TSB says it applies to the code only when no malfunction indicators lights are on. Therefore, I do not believe problem is fixed. Also, since then a vibration is detected through the gas pedal when accelerating. Service manager and tech test drove and stated there was something detected but no fix since there is no TSB for this kind of problem.

63 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2006

Both failures 4/8/06 and 5/1/06 - pause in starting, engine hesitations when running, awd lock comes on, service engine soon comes on, no acceleration power - cannot drive vehicle. Both times same code u1000 - electrical and ground wire problem. I have been left stranded twice in this vehicle and feel very unsafe!.
