1 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

I started hearing a rattle when under acceleration and could never find the culprit. It started jingling like change in someone pocket so I looked again and notice a piece of the idler pulley bracket going in circles around the adjustment screw. I looked up online only to yet another under designed part by Nissan. This part failing can cause serious damage and even wrecks if not fixed immediately.

My car just stopped working in the middle of the traffic and would not go forward or backward. I got it towed to good year - my car had catastrophic transmission failure. Was diagnosed at goodyear and they called Nissan to see about the parts and found out that it was covered by manufacture warranty - so I had it towed on a flat bed truck to Nissan in denver. Goodyear had drained the fluids to take it apart during diagnosis and sent the parts and the car on the tow truck to the go Nissan shop. They found a number of other problems with the car at the Nissan shop which they said were not covered - such as- cam shaft sensors, drive belts, head gasket. I agreed to pay for those items and to get my transmission replaced for free under the warranty. They said it would take three to five days to get the transmission from the factory. I get a call today from go Nissan on June 19th about a week after they agreed to fix it and they now say that there seems to have been some purple fluid in the transmission and now they wont replace it or cover it in any way. That makes no sense to me because it was delivered there with no fluid in the transmission at all. They said, ya, well. . We saw some purple substance in the cup with the parts that were delivered and we will not cover it because of that contamination. . . Im at my witts end here, they want $4000. 00 for the transmission and another $2,500. 00 for the rest of the work. I don't know what to do. I feel like they took advantage of me and are now trying to get out of the warranty. Thanks for your help.

3 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2012

My Nissan Murano 2005 SUV has been stopping in motion while driving agian, and this has happened more then 7 times in the past 2 months. But this time it happened on the 405 fwy with my children. The vehicle slowed down on the freeway and I had to find the right shoulder lane in call aaa. I checked the recalls on the internet for this car and there was recalls back in 2005 when I bought the vehicle and I didn't recieve a notices in the mail. I've called the Nissan hotline with no replies and emailed the company too; I was emailed back that there was a recall on the second row seat belts. This car is totally unsafe; plus vehicle has five recalls such as gas tank, set belt, engine and engine cooling, transmission, and alternator. I looked at the forum for the Nissan Murano in it seems like the same problem with the 2003-2005 models.

4 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2011

Coolant was leaking on driveway, found that the tensioner bracket is cracked and is rubbing up against a coolant hose, causing a breach in hose and leakage. The dealership is quoting me over $500 to replace the tensioner bracket and associated pulley and "screw". I called Nissan corporate asking them to either fix for free or discount the service. They said its not their responsibility. I see alot of this exact component failure reported online, I hope Nissan ponies up someday.

5 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2009

2005 Nissan Murano - 66k miles. Alternator tension arm snapped off while driving, also causing a crack in the timing cover. There had been a squeaking noise in the days leading up the failure. Once the arm broke there was a very loud clunking noise. I was forced to pull over on the side of the road and wait for a tow. The tension arm, bracket, belts and timing cover need to be replaced. Because the timing covers placement, it will require pulling the engine out.

6 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2008

2005 Nissan Murano with 56,735 miles began making a noise at acceleration. Brought car to the Nissan dealer and was told that a new pulley asm and bracket-id was needed. I was told that the bracket failed causing the pulley asm to go bad. While replacing the pulley and bracket, I requested the fan belt be changed. I was very surprised that the bracket and pulley failed so soon on this vehicle. This was not covered under warranty or recall.

7 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2006

While on a major road with for our family vacation, our Murano experienced a component failure. Specifically, our road trip originated from central new jersey with several destinations scheduled for several central and southern florida locations. All was normal until our journey from miami to debary, FL where slight indicators of a malfunction began to manifest itself. While cruising on interstate 95 between west palm beach and titusville, the cruise control spontaneously disengaged. After several attempts to re-engage the system yielded the same results, I initially determined that there may be an inherent difference in the Murano's cruise control system versus other cars I've driven/owned and decided that I would look into it at a later time. Later in this same trip (specifically between titusville and sanford florida), I was on a desolate road (route 46) when the Murano's 'service engine' light illuminated and it seem to be stuck in 2nd gear. Note: the Murano has a belt driven cvt and not a conventional gear box; nevertheless, this was the manner in which the problem can be characterized. Making matters worst was the fact that it was 12:30am and route 46 is sparsely traveled, with no signs of "civilization". (not meant to melodramatic. ) fortunately, I was still able to drive the Murano (at no greater than 40mph @ 4,000rpm) to our intended destination. On the following morning, I brought my Murano to deland Nissan where the service department promptly determined that the throttle body malfunctioned and needed to be replaced accordingly. Fortunately, the part was in stock and replaced under warranty in less than 2 hours. (note: the service department at deland Nissan was simply the best service department I've ever encountered, in terms of response time, professionalism and customer communication; I wish my home dealer service department was likewise. ) the remainder of our vacation and return trip occurred without further incident.
