Blinking airbag sign in my Nissan Murano since week. Reset did not work by mechanic. .
Passenger seat sensor light for air bag stays lit, flashing 1 steady and 5 bursts. Shows airbag off even with adult sitting in passenger seat.
Nissan has a voluntary recall for faulty air bag sensors on 2009 Nissan Murano but when you take it in they say your VIN is not included. This is fraud because they know that all Muranos from 2009 and other years have a faulty sensor in the passenger seat and the air bags will not deploy. They lie because the fix is a new seat cushion which is expensive. They try to charge owners $5000 to repair a safety issue that is their responsibility. There are many, many complaints for this issue and many people are driving around without airbags because of Nissan’s dereliction. How many people will die??.
In reference to my 2009 Murano, I like to bring my concern/complaint into your attention that since Jan 07, 2023, my Murano's airbag light is blinking. On Jan. 16, 2023, I took my SUV to acme Nissan dealer situated at 2050 highway 130, south brunswick, NJ. 08852 for checkup and repair. Dealer diagnosed airbag issue code b1018 and advised "in control unit k8820-1al0a and 873a2-3z53a seat sensor are bad and need to be replaced. Dealer mentioned that they cannot replace these part/sensors, because they are not available thru Nissan anymore. Dealer also tried to get these parts from the aftermarket dealer. But these parts are also not available in aftermarket. Not functioning of airbags is a big-time safety issue. I contacted Nissan customer service support and opened the case (48254432). But some reason they are not helping me at all in resolving this safety issue. Their answer is, they cannot do anything for this issue. While going through the Nissan forum, I noticed that this safety issue is common in Nissan Murano. This wonders that why Nissan have not issued any recall on this airbag safety issues. Are they going to issue the recall after someone die in the accident because of this airbag issues. Now I cannot even trade my SUV because of this safety issue. Now I am too afraid to drive my 2009 Murano. I love my Murano so much it runs like a new and I am not in the position to buy a new Murano at this time. I would really appreciate if you can request Nissan to rectify this issue as soon as possible.
The icon for the passenger airbags are flashing on my vehicle dashboard about two months ago (11/2022). Back in 2013 my vehicle was in a crash with substantial front end damage…no other vehicle was involved. Also the airbags in front row seats did not deploy. I’m planning on taking in my vehicle to get it checked out and tuned. Any guidance from NHTSA is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that a diagnostic test was performed on the vehicle by the dealer and it was determined that a sensor in the front driver’s side seat was defective, causing the failure. The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an unknown speed, the passenger’s side air bag light flashed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the battery was reset, and the warning light disappeared. A few weeks later, the warning light returned, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the failure with a defective sensor inside the passenger’s side seat. Upon investigation, the contact linked that failure to NHTSA campaign number: 08v521000 (air bags, electrical system). The manufacturer was notified and informed that contact that there were no open recalls on the vehicle. The contact was also provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
Passenger seat airbag code keeps flashing on with b1018 code present. Read that this is a common issue with Nissan vehicles and that’s it’s possible there is a recall.

Took in my vehicle this morning to get 4 recalls fixed, and dealership stated they could only fix one of the 4 issues. Spoke to a representative and she stated the issues for the model of the SUV were not included in the VIN number, therefore the dealership couldn't assist with all 4 issues. The lights on the dashboard of the SUV are on and all pertain to the 4 issues not included in the VIN. How can I get these included in the VIN number so the dealership can fix the issues? the issues are as follow: NHTSA campaign number: 18v916000 NHTSA campaign number: 09v393000 NHTSA campaign number: 08v521000 NHTSA campaign number: 08v066000.
Front and passenger bags just went out. Was never involved in a wreck. Very strange. Worried sick now about the safety of driving it. Please help.
The passenger seat air bag control quit working. The red light is on in the dash. I have been told that this VIN number is not included in the recall. Nissan has a recall nvtsa # 08v-521 and the campaign id for the 2009 Murano number is z51. The problem with my car is the same as the recall. I only get the runaround from Nissan about my problem. I can not use the car if I have a passenger. I need help for this problem.

The airs bags its off ,didnt work.
Air bag control unit/OCS system failure. According to recall #08v521000, there is a history with problems with my make & model of vehicle. I have been to the dealership to try to resolve this issue repeatedly and while they turn off the dashboard light illuminating the problem, it simply illuminates again in a few days. Now they tell me I need to purchase a new seat cushion at a cost of almost $5,000. My VIN is not showing up in the recall notice but this is exactly the problem that I am having with my car. I can provide a picture of the airbag malfunction light on the dashboard, if you need it.
I am writing regarding a recent incident with Nissan that had an active recall. It is for recall number 08v521000 for the 2009 Nissan Murano. I contacted Nissan because my vehicle was having this exact issue in that the OCS control unit had an interruption in signal between the OCS and the air bag control unit. I contacted Nissan letting them know my make and model was listed in this recall and that I was having this exact issue. They told me my VIN number was not included and they would not pay for it to be fixed. I am pregnant and have a toddler so had I got into an accident, that is 3 lives that would have been at risk since my airbags would not have been deployed. After requesting it to be reviewed, Nissan said they would pay half of the bill, leaving me to still pay $912. 00 out of pocket. This is a safety issue, not a maintenance issue and is the exact problem and vehicle make & model that is explained in the recall. Obviously there are other models that they missed when evaluating VIN numbers and others are most likely having this same issue. Nissan is refusing to pay the full amount. The Nissan dealership fixing my vehicle was even fighting for me and said this should not randomly happen and agreed that Nissan should pay the full amount as it was a safety issue not regular maintenance that should occur. I am extremely frustrated with Nissan. If there is an active recall and you are having that exact problem with the exact make & model in the recall, it should be covered. And airbags should not just stop working for no reason without being in an accident. I have been told to reach out to you since you regulate these things. How can I submit a complaint against Nissan and is there anything you can do to get involved in order to get the full amount paid?.
Takata recall, airbag on passager side indcator light on, tire light and tire slow leak.
Hit a deer going 35 mph and deployed both front airbags. I was the passenger when my airbag went off it hit my face and fractured my maxilla, broke off one tooth and made another loose enough it had to be pulled out also. Split upper and lower lip both needing stitches. Do to the damage sustained and the airbags being deployed my insurance company found the car unrepairable and a total loss.
Dec 2014 took 2009 Nissan Murano to dealership. Cracks started opening up on front panel of dash and on side where passenger airbag is. Dealership told me I would have to contact Nissan n. A. Due to vehicle past it's warranty. Called Nissan n. A. , they said they would contact dealership and call me back. Dec 29th Nissan called back, response " sorry can't do anything vehicle out of warranty" and the asst. Service mgr. Gave her the impression normal wear or sun damage caused the cracks. This was not a warranty issue nor did the service mgr. Gave me the impression he thought it was sun damage. I asked her for a email address so I could send some photo's. She told me there was not an email available for consumers," the dealership was their eyes " no pictures were even taken by the dealership. Nissan did not want to help or acnowlege the problem. On Feb 10th wfla consumer investigator did a segment on Toyota replacing cracking and sticky dashboards on various models. When they showed the video it showed a cut in the dashboard over the steering wheel exactly like mine. Almost a photo copy. You could tell the dash is made out of the same material as mine. The segment went on to say Nissan and Ford have had the same complaints. Nissan is aware of this! these cracks in my dash are getting worse. Along with the cracks there is a protruding square where the passenger airbag is. What's next is my air bag going to deploy or my dash going to start getting sticky. ***refer to NHTSA complaint # 10650129 dated 10-26-2014. ** Nissan should be held accountable for fixing these dashboards. There is no reason a consumer was denied an email address to send photos so they could see for themselves. Nissan needs to see these pictures if any thing to show who ever manufactured these dashboards the defect. If anyone else is having the same dashboard issues, please post!!.
I have less than 61,000 miles on my 09 Murano. I need to know why when I list my VIN, there are no recalls, yet if I search make, model, and yr. ,without VIN, three are listed. Three which I have had all happen air bags, air bags and electricial system, and tpms (tire pressure monitoring system), says tpms was in certain states. How can you specify this recall to thoses states? people move, travel to those states, and yes, we use road salt here. My tpms came on this past July and will not go off. But, seems your recall may not apply in the south. I also, in July 2014, had all 4 motor mounts replaced. Nissan said all 4 would need replacing soon after hearing a knocking when ever I started off (like at red light or stop sign). Motor could fall out. Nissan was going to charge me $800. 00 for one (all I could affford at one time). A friend took it to a well known reputable auto store and they replaced all 4 for $900. 00. Now Nissan would not be over charging that much, would they? yea, right. Affected parts? seems there are a lot of the 153 complaints filed refer to motor mounts. Have any motors fallen out to cause accident?.
2009 Nissan Murano with airbag malfunction. The consumer found 2 recalls related to the problem she experienced. Recall 08v066000 and 08v521000.
