1 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2021

Airbag warning light on dash began flashing spontaneously at approximately 92,925 miles. Other 2009 Nissan Muranos with a different v. I. N. Have been recalled for same issue but not mine.

2 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2020

Airbag warning light on dashboard started blinking and will not stop. Took 2009 Murano to dealership and was told the airbag sensors was malfunctioning and I would have to replace my entire passenger seat to fix it, at a cost of over $5,000. The make, model and year of my vehicle is included in the NHTSA campaign 08v521000, which highlights this identical problem yet my VIN is not included in the recall. How can this be? Nissan should cover this severe safety failure that is happening to a lot of 2009 Muranos. Vehicle has never been in an accident and has about 80,000 miles. Vehicle no longer feels safe to drive and repair cost is prohibitively high.

3 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2019

Air bag warning light started flashing and does not go off. Dealer (lancaster Nissan) tested the vehicle and stated that sensor or seat sensor could be bad. They were able to turn off warning light, but it started again the next time I drove the car. Estimates to replace sensor ($1,500) and seat sensor ($4,500) seem extremely high. Vehicle has only 39,000 miles and was purchased new. Dealer stated there is no open recall despite research showing 100's of 2009 Muranos with the same issue and a prior recall on earlier Muranos and Infiniti's - clearly the same manufacturing defect. Have not taken an action to repair at this point,.

4 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2019

Airbag warning light suddenly stayed on flashing. There has never been any accident. Low miles and rarely a passenger in the car. Nissan dealer checked and determined it was the passenger sensor. They replaced the sensor and light remained. They then said they had to replace the entire passenger seat bottom to fix the issue. ~$3,700 later and it is fixed.

5 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2018

1) airbag light alarm for passenger seat goes on suddently after 80,000 miles. After dealer inspection, seems to be related to the occupant classification system (OCS) varistor located in the front passenger seat cushion, as mentioned in your ntb08-095 November 4, 2008 recall campaign. Found it strange my vehicule VIN is not associated to this complaint, but I have the problem. 2) alternator suddently died after 80,000 miles without warning, while driving on the highway. Had time to pull on the side, but situation could have been dramatic. Suddently vehicule reduced speed and went from 60mph to 10mph, then no more battery, so could not light the warning lights. Very dangerous situation. Problem have been reported for many Murano different years, recalls were done for 2005 or 2008 Murano but none for 2009. A $1300 bill at the Nissan dealership. 3) got airbag light alarm for passenger seat right after alternator problem.

Passenger side air bag "off" light is on. Air bag warning light is blinking on and off. Dealer says the passenger seat cushion has failed. 10 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

The air bag warning light came on and has been blinking since. I have researched the issue and find that this is common with the 2009 Nissan Murano. Nissan refuses to fix the issue under recall. This is not covered with the warranty on the vehicle. Most are caused by a sensor under the passenger seat and the entire seat must be replaced. The cost is between 2500 and 3000 dollars. This warning light blinking indicates the system will not work correctly should I get into an accident. Please help Murano owners get this fixed with out having to pay such outrageous prices.

12 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2013

The steering column is stuck and the motor and gears failed. This has been listed more than 100 times on the internet in various blogs. Turns out the automatic adjustment each time you get in and out of the car kills the motor and gears and is actually addressed in a service bulletin ntb-09-073 having this happen also affected the air bag and the warning light is now on.

13 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2013

The vehicle has shown problems that were previously recalled including tire monitoring system, passenger air bag warning light remains lit, and rear hatch fails to function. More recently the vehicle fails to start and has strong smell of gas. The fuel pump was replace by a certified mechanic but the problem persists, failure to start or run. In addition, the battery has drained even after being checked and recharged, clearly an electrical problem. The VIN number search shows no recall notices,.

14 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2012

Supplemental air bag warning light will not turn off, also passenger air bag status light remains lit even with adult riding in passenger seat. Air bag safety should not fail on a car ever. Tpms light will not turn off with tires inflated at proper pressure.

16 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2012

Dashboard air bag warning light began flashing. Subsequent trip to the dealer diagnosed a defective passenger seat sensor, which is built in to the seat bottom, so the entire unit must be replaced. Although I had purchased an extended warranty, that part was not covered and the seat bottom must be replaced as it is a safety issue. Forwarded a request for assistance to Nissan USA, and the jury is still out on that move. There have been very few passengers in that automobile, with the great majority of the miles on the car being driver only miles.
