1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2025

I was going 35 mph, normal operation speed and there was no extreme weather or road conditions. I slowed down to get into the center turn lane ended up coming to a complete stop due to on coming traffic. I was stopped for about 30 seconds to maybe a minute when I finally had enough clearance to make my turn. When I pressed the accelerator it began to accelerate but stalled out almost immediately. So I pressed and depressed the accelerator rapidly several times then it finally accelerated. When it did finally accelerate it accelerated much to quickly like it just took off. I’d like to say that this excessive acceleration was terrible but it saved my passenger from getting slammed by the now on coming traffic due to the lack of power. This is not the first time it has happened it does it allot when the weather gets warmer as well as when exiting the highway coming to a complete stop and then when trying to accelerate it stalls I’d say 25% of the time. I’ve taken it to multiple repair shops and they all say they can’t find the problem. I know their is a problem and I’ve read of this happening to many other owners so why is there no recall on it yet I’m surprised no one has been seriously injured or worse. In my opinion I feel like the manufacturer has complete disregard to the consumers safety. It’s unsettling.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2025

My battery went dead, and I was trapped inside my car, there is not way to get out of the vehicle with out someone having the hidden key inside the fob, or lock smith, or break the window, this is a huge safety issue especially in extreme weather or hazardous situations. I parked my vehicle to get gas in a small town, and was stuck inside my car for over 30 mins, until I finally got someone to assist me,.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2023

This has happened on two different occasions. While driving the vehicle the alternator has gone out and there is no warning that there is any problem but you lose your throttle control and the car loses power and is unable to accelerate. The 1st time this happened I was in the middle of an intersection trying to make a left turn and lost all power to be able to move the car. Luckly no one was coming in the other direction, or I could have been involved in a serious accident!!! I had the alternator check and it was bad, so we replaced it. The second time this happened was two days ago I was doing 65 mph on a four-lane highway and without any warning I lost power and could not accelerate I was able to pull to the side of the road, but m emergency flashers were of no use due to the battery was low because the entire car was using it for power. The car has no gauge or light of any type to warn you that the alternator has failed till you lose power and are unable to accelerate.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2023

Passenger seat sensor light for air bag stays lit, flashing 1 steady and 5 bursts. Shows airbag off even with adult sitting in passenger seat.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2021

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an unknown speed, the passenger’s side air bag light flashed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the battery was reset, and the warning light disappeared. A few weeks later, the warning light returned, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the failure with a defective sensor inside the passenger’s side seat. Upon investigation, the contact linked that failure to NHTSA campaign number: 08v521000 (air bags, electrical system). The manufacturer was notified and informed that contact that there were no open recalls on the vehicle. The contact was also provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2021

As with the current Nissan recall the car just shutoff. On two separate occasions, one at highway speed on a high speed heavy traffic road and once of a neighborhood road. Both times spontaneously and without any warning or trouble lights or indications of a problem. Vehicles was towed and serviced at a Nissan dealership. . Both incidents were extremely dangerous one to get to shoulder in high speed traffic and to exit vehicle next to traffic and the other at night in a dark neighborhood. Dealer was without explanation on cause so we dont know if the problem is fixed or not. Prior request #602941.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2020

I was driving the car and stopped at a red light. When I hit the gas to go when the light turned green the car would not go. It took about 20 seconds before it would go and when it did it acted like I had my foot on the gas pedal which I did not. It has done this numerous times. I replaced the fuel pump and took it to a mechanic twice. Nothing that has been done has fixed the problem. I have almost been rear ended several times due the fact that the car stalls.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2019

On a main road parked off of a highway, car battery and brake light started flickering, suddenly as I tried to pull onto main road and car randomly forcefully stopped as if went to neutral wouldn't accelerate in any gear. I had to roll the car back into a parking spot quick as possible as there was oncoming traffic. I then turned car off then on and more lights on the dash illuminated, abs, brake, battery, and trackion control as well. I turned the car off to then try restarting again and wouldn't do anything as, completely dead. Had to leave the car overnight parked til the following day for a tow since it never started back up. Waiting on what caused this problem, definitely unsafe, could have caused a accident due to going into a neutral like mode as driving onto a main road and near a highway.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

Two major problems I've had with my Murano are the brakes loosing pressure causing me not to be able to brake in time, caused an accident on a roundabout. The second is the steering wheel lock column going out, causing my not to be able to start the vehicle.

The failure mileage was not available.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2017

Even though my car is not registered in the current "campaign" (Nissan's euphemism for a recall) nonetheless, my airbag light on the dash is flashing, indicating that the airbag system may be faulty. Nissan refuses to fix it without a full diagnostic going over (about $100 fee) and does not seem to care that a passenger in my car could get killed if the airbag fails to deploy. My car is a 2009 Murano with only 59,000 miles on it.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2017

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated continuously. 20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

Within a period of less than a month, all 4 of the electronic door locks on all 4 doors of my Nissan Murano s have failed. Initially, the problem was isolated to just 1 or 2 doors, and sometimes it would vary as to whether the door would lock or unlock when either pressing the remote entry key fob or using the interior door unlock button. Now, no door will lock/unlock at all. They can only be manually unlocked by pressing the rocker switch at the door. While driving the car, I am unable to securely lock all 4 doors. When I exit the vehicle, and manually lock the doors, upon returning, I am unable to unlock the doors without first using the key in the drivers door (the only 1 with a key lock), and then entering the vehicle, and manually unlocking the other 3 doors. This is a safety hazard with small children, as I can not leave them in the parking lot by themselves for me to enter the vehicle to get their door unlocked.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2016

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. While the vehicle was being inspected, the air bag warning light illuminated. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08v521000 (air bags, electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. While driving approximately 60 mph, the battery charging warning sensor indicator suddenly illuminated and the vehicle later shut off. In addition, while operating the vehicle, the pressure monitoring system sensor indicator illuminated although the air pressure in the tires was as recommended. The cause of the failures was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 100,000.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2015

While driving the automobile made a low buzzing sound and immediately stopped moving. All power was lost. I was not able to steer the automobile, the dashboard lights and radio still on and working. I engaged the accelerator once and the auto accelerated and all power was lost again, this time completely. I had it towed to my regular Nissan dealership for diagnosis and repair. Diagnosis: battery needs to be replaced. The battery was replaced and I drove the car home and to work the next day. While on my way from work, the exact problem occurred again. I had it towed to autonation Nissan again and as I type this complaint the dealership is trying to arrive at the proper diagnosis. I am all of a sudden in fear for my life, had I been on the expressway (I-95, sr-826, FL turnpike, etc. I could have been killed with these two sudden stops if I had been rear-ended. I am the only driver of this automobile. It is in otherwise excellent condition. I have never had this problem before. Only constant issues with "tire sensors" even though I have had them replaced.

Failure Date: 05/13/2015

The front passenger door locks intermittently. When this happens, the lock does not respond to the lock buttons (either driver side or passenger), key fob, or manual lever creating a dangerous situation in the event of accident. This could create a situation of death by burning.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2015

The driver side door will not lock manually or with the remote. The passenger side door on the driver side does not lock 75% of the times.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2015

Passenger door locked shut. Cannot open from the outside or the inside. Pregnant passenger had to climb over center counsel to get out of the vehicle. Once I googled the issue, the 2008-2009 Nissan rogue & Muranos have this issue, a service order was created for the rogue, but not the Murano.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2015

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. While driving at unknown speeds, the rear seat warmers were activated. As a result, a hole was burned through the seats and all the warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that a three year old child was seated in a safety seat at the time of the failure, but there were no injuries reported. A police and a fire report were not filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2014

Dear sir or madam, in 2009 I bought new Nissan Murano sl 2009 from mossy Nissan dealership in houston, texas. To finance my purchase, I also bought extended car warranty for 6 years total (to cover another 3 years beyond 3 years of factory warranty). This extended warranty (Nissan security+ plus gold preferred package with >2,000 parts being protected) was advertised as a best available option on the market. All these years since my purchase I took very good care of my car, records are available at mossy Nissan. On 06nov2014 mossy Nissan service center diagnosed internal device failure responsible for airbags deploy and informed me that, to their surprise, this module is not covered by my current warranty. This part is listed as a cushion & adjuster module, part # 873a2-1av2a. Reading from the Nissan tool scanner: ******* b1018 OCS sensor unit failure******** estimated costs for replacement were approximated at 3,500$ out of pocket. I have contacted north America Nissan (1-800-nissan1) and case # 16484480 was filed for investigations. North America Nissan has contacted me back on 17nov2014 and informed me that they cannot offer any help or assistance regarding replacement. Na Nissan also refused to finance amount of 3,500$ over 6-12 months which I agreed to pay in monthly payments. Nissan security+ plus gold preferred package has >2,000 parts being protected including those for fun and entertainment (like radio, cd player, even antenna etc. ) but not for the module responsible for life-saving airbags deployment. I have found this unacceptable. The false advertisement of the package is deceptive stating “ultimate in peace of mind protection”…not for essential safety parts though… can you help? can you advise on next reasonable steps? thank you in advance, dmitri davydov davydov_fam@yahoo. 31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2014

All four door lock actuators have failed twice on my 2009 Nissan Murano. The first time it happened Nissan recognized that it was a factory issue, but now that it has happened again they do not want to fix it even though it is clearly a serious safety issue. I have researched this and it is happening at a high frequency for other Nissan owners. This should be a recall issue.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

The issue with my Nissan Murano is the lock actuator beginning to go out. It started in may when the key fod began not working. We started having to unlock the vehicle with the key and then unlock the other doors with the button on the door. This was fine until the lock on the door began to fail. It works occasionally but not all the time. This is my wife's car and we have one child and another on the way, and she will be using this vehicle to transport two kids while I'm at work. It's a safety issue because during inclement weather my wife can't put our baby on the ground to unlock all the doors after the actuator completely fails. Not only for that reason is it a safety hazard but just because a fire hasn't occurred yet because of this electrical issue doesn't mean that one will not happen. As a father this is something I have to be concerned with.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

Radio volume and tuning controls malfunction not allowing accurate control of volume. Trying to adjust the volume sometimes results in the volume level going to maximum volume on its own, startling the driver and causing a distraction while trying to readjust the volume to normal. This causes distracted driving and possible hearing damage. This happens any time the radio is on. It has happened while driving on suburban streets, on the highway and on city streets. It has happened multiple times over the past 2-3 years.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2013

Unable to open driver's and passengers front door. Was finally able to open passenger front door still unable to open driver's. If you want to drive car at this point must climb over seat.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

Automatic door locks on all four doors malfunctioned, not autolocking or unlocking with Smart key, or door handle button. Passenger side is intermittant, so it is uncertain when door is locked or not and I cannot get my child out of the car from the outside without someone else being inside to manually unlock the back doors. This is an emergency safety issue and requires recall.
