My sunroof over driver and passenger seats literally exploded while driving on interstate- sunny 38 degree day, not under a bridge or near other cars . The noise was deafening, and glass came crashing on my (the driver) head and on the children in the back seat. The roof exploded upward like a volcano. Nothing hit the roof, as we were shaken but able to pull over and check the car for any evidence of something crashing into sunroof. But the roof exploded upward and outward as it became obvious that a large chunk of glass from roof was missing. The sunroof was closed, but the sun shade was open. Reported problem to Nissan, but they have yet to get back to me. This is a major problem and a huge safety concern. This problem seems to stem from a pressure problem within the Murano. This is extremely dangerous!! sunroof is being replaced, but I'm now terrified to drive my car, seeing as how this can happen again, and we may not be as fortunate to pull over safely and make it to side of road! Nissan must deal with this problem! this can potentially be a fatal flaw on the Murano.

I have less than 61,000 miles on my 09 Murano. I need to know why when I list my VIN, there are no recalls, yet if I search make, model, and yr. ,without VIN, three are listed. Three which I have had all happen air bags, air bags and electricial system, and tpms (tire pressure monitoring system), says tpms was in certain states. How can you specify this recall to thoses states? people move, travel to those states, and yes, we use road salt here. My tpms came on this past July and will not go off. But, seems your recall may not apply in the south. I also, in July 2014, had all 4 motor mounts replaced. Nissan said all 4 would need replacing soon after hearing a knocking when ever I started off (like at red light or stop sign). Motor could fall out. Nissan was going to charge me $800. 00 for one (all I could affford at one time). A friend took it to a well known reputable auto store and they replaced all 4 for $900. 00. Now Nissan would not be over charging that much, would they? yea, right. Affected parts? seems there are a lot of the 153 complaints filed refer to motor mounts. Have any motors fallen out to cause accident?.

None of my doors or the trunk unlock or lock with either the remote key or with the button on the inside of the vehicle. 20 mins later they lock after driving for a short while then, when I park they don't lock or unlock with the remote key, again. The remote key battery is not dead so that is not the issue. If that were the case, the door button would unlock and lock it easily. This is a wonderful problem to have as I work in the most crime ridden ghetto in the us and I have a 6 month old I want to get in and out of the car easily, but can't.

Car will start moving fine for a few feet then will continue. . . . Per auto repair part is called transfer case $3000+ repair according to a complaint web site this issue is common in Murano's.

New vehicle was bought September 2009. On 04/26/2011, east charlotte Nissan's mechanics changed transfer case because leaking. Vehicle had 29,505 miles. On March 24, 2014, ecn's assistant service manager said it is necessary to change transfer case and gasket because leaking. Vehicle had aprox 70,000 miles. After owner requested help to nc consumer protection, ecn's general manager replied neither of those leaks would be considered abnormal since repair was nearly three years and vehicle was driven 50,000 miles. Also, he states that owner because his financial situation wants to get vehicle fixed at no cost and that is dishonest and unethical. Owner never tried to get a free repair. He only would like to know: why transfer case and gasket should be changed every three years because leaking? however, the first time they were changed happened after one year and seven months and with less than 30,000 miles.

My dashboard is melting. Everything is sticky and starting to glare, which impedes visibility. Why can't there be a recall to make these auto makers stand behind their products? this is the same thing that happened to our 2004 Infiniti. The dashboard bubbled, and because there was no recall, they didn't notify owners. But they did replace them if you brought it to their attention. It was a secret that they didn't want to let owners know about, so they wouldn't have to repair, unless you insisted on it. Our infinit was serviced regularly at the dealership and they say they didn't notice the huge bubbling effect all over the dashboard! why isn't NHTSA doing something for the consumer? are they on the automakers payroll?.

I am the 'second' owner. The vehicle was gifted to me by my son. It passed the autocheck vehicle history report. I received the vehicle 5/11/13. Failure mileage is approximate. When starting engine huge amount of white smoke exits the 2 exhaust pipes engulfing entire vehicle. This happened continually every time I started engine. Contacted Nissan consumer affairs directly & was referred to dealership. My son spoke directly with dealership service department. The required 30,000 maintenance was performed. After 1 week dealership recommend new engine. I was 6 months past the warranty date, but Nissan refused to honor it as I was a second owner. Per my son's instructions dealership removed spark plugs to soak tops of pistons. Let soak over night. Performed a leak down test to find all the cylinders with 60% or more leakage from rings and valves, removed oil & performed 2 engine flushes, cleaned all oil out of intake maniford, reinstalled plugs, changed oil again, performed multiple road tests. Preceding service included replacing engine air filter. Performing idle learning procedure. Fuel system serviced, cleaned fuel injectors & throttle body. Removed all build up from throttle chamber & plate. Performed fuel system service and 6 cyl tune up/6 22401-ew61c plug-sparks. Serviced complete coolant system. Serviced automatic transmission, exchanging fluids in case up to 6 quarts. Performed front & rear differential fluid exchange. Dealership kept vehicle 3-4 weeks, however problem still exists although intermittently.

The driver's side door began making a loud noise when the door was unlocked or locked. I went to the Nissan dealership and was told it was be $575 to fix. I chose not to fix it at that time. Now, a couple of months later, the door will not always lock when the button on the doorhandle is pushed or when the key fob is used. The door will continue to make the loud noise, but sometimes you have to try to lock the door 10-15 times before the door will lock. This is a concern as I need my doors to lock to protect items in the vehicle. Also, I am afraid the door will not unlock or lock in the event of an emergency.

Takata recall . . . . My passenger airbag light has been on for about 3 yrs. Now and when it has been hooked up to a computer results always come back the same. . . Error in airbag. Now I've contacted Nissan and they are telling me that even though I may have a takata airbag my VIN # is not on the recall list so therefore they cannot do anything about the problem. I would have to pay out of my own pocket to have it fixed. Now they did tell me that according to their records and with the VIN # that was given to them in oct 2008 my Murano already had been serviced for passenger side airbag light staying on. So basically what they were saying was that my Murano had already used the one free service check in oct 2008 for airbag. First of all, my vehicle is an 09, so Nissan already admitted that according to their records and my VIN # that I was already having airbag issues before the vehicle was released to be sold. I purchased it at beginning of 2012 and 2013 is when my airbag light came on. Now I have had it cleared and seems like if it is cold cause I do live in ohio, but if I clear it today and it's not really cold it may not come on, but as soon as it gets cold it comes right back on. Now there has been times where it has been cleared and as soon as you turn off the engine and start it back up it comes right back on. I also am having issues with tpms, no matter what tires I buy I am constantly battling the low tire pressure light. It's been taking to tire shops and been checked for slow leaks and leaks around the valve stem, nothing. I have also had to replace the motors in mt steering wheel because both of those went out on me. Now my new issue is my air vents. When the defrost is on certain air vents do not shut off, air still comes through them. And in the winter I feel like there is cold air blowing up through the floor. No issues with 04 Murano.

The car was taken to the Nissan dealership approximately 4 months ago and I was notified of the transfer case leaking and was quoted at least $3,000 to fix it. I was told it will eventually go and will affect my transmission but to stay on top of my oil changes and fluids to help prevent the system from failing. At my next oil change I asked if the system was checked and I was told "everything lookes good. " about a week ago (was not due yet for a oil change) my car would jolt into reverse and would be hesitant to go and same thing with driving forward. The car is stuck in awd, transmission clicks when driving, and jolting occurs driving forward and reversing. Apparently this is a common problem with the transfer case failing in this type of car.

I was driving home and heard a noise with my Murano. I noticed I had a loss in power (moving forward). It felt like it I had put it in neutral - no power at all. I was in the middle of a 7 lane highway in rush hour. I managed to get it into the turning lane. I powered off the vehicle. I waited a little while and powered it back on and was able to go a little farther and then once again had no power. I continued this process until I was able to get off the main road. I have heard from a mechanie that it is my transmission. I am so disappointed to see so many people having the exact same problem. If there is action we can take, please let me know.

The keyless remote appears to lock the doors and set the security system. The door handle was pulled allowing entry into the car while it was thought to be locked. The alarm sounds but the car can be accessed when it appears and sounds as if it is properly locked. Only the drivers door locks. The door can be opened while in motion from the inside.

I recently had the opportunity to drive a 2009 Nissan Murano equipped with their "Smart key". Similarly, I also drove a 2007 Lexus GS with a "Smart key". I have found that both vehicles can be shut off and exited with while it is inadvertently left in the "park" transmission position. Although a barely audible chime rings, a driver can exit the vehicle and if the vehicle is on an incline, it can roll freely!! I am astounded that there are no "neutral safety" controls on these new vehicles. Standard key ignitions prevent the driver from releasing the key in any position except "park" . . . Not so with these new "Smart key" cars! I foresee many accidents occurring unless some correction is made in this "option". I don't understand how a government vehicle safety check would overlook this flaw.
