20 problems related to service brakes have been reported for the 2011 Nissan Murano. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2011 Nissan Murano based on all problems reported for the 2011 Murano.
2011 Nissan Murano, while pulling into a parking area the left rear (drivers side) wheel collapsed. Fortunately this happened at a very low speed, (under 10 mph). Upon inspection it was discovered that the lower control strut had rotted out and separated from the frame causing the wheel to collapse. If this had occurred on a main road at speed it could have caused a very serious accident due to loss of control. In this case it did not happen, as stated it was at low speed and in a parking lot. The deterioration of this strut was never called out by dealer inspite of numerous multi-point safety inspections during normal periodic vehicle servicing. There was no warning of impending failure, it just occurred! neither Nissan or the dealer claim any responsibility for the failure of this part(s) both sides were replaced as both sides had rotted out.
The contact's husband owns a 2011 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving up an incline at approximately 35 degrees and making a sharp left turn, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact then stated that he attempted to apply more pressure but the vehicle failed to accelerate and moved at slow pace. The contact then stated that after he was in the driveway, he placed the shifter in park then back in drive position but the vehicle hesitated then failed to accelerate. No warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The dealer nor the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 131,000.
The brake pedal has suddenly become very unpredictable. Sometimes when depressing it they start engaging where they normally would & sometimes you have to depress it all the way to the floor to get it to stop. My daughter informed me of the problem so I drove it to pick up pizza. When parking at the pizza place it happened to me. . . . . I jumped a sidewalk curb almost hit people walking on the other side because the brakes didn't engauge in time. My problem has not been confirmed by a dealer service center but the exact same problem is listed with the 2009 Murano & has been recalled because of a reaction with a metal plating turning the brake fluid to a gelatin solution after 10 years. This 2009 Murano recall was in 2019. My Murano is 10 years old now. & has under 80,000 miles & had new brake pads put on 15,000 miles ago even though they didn't show much wear. I live in a rural area & the closest Nissan dealer over 50 miles away so I can't just drop by a Nissan dealership. No warning lights have come on with this vehicle as of yet. This Murano is my 16 year old daughters & she is not very tall so she is not able to depress the brakes far enough to stop when this happens. I have had to park the Murano until we get this problem resolved. Please respond with how I can resolve this braking problem. Thanks.
For the second time my anti-lock brakes have gone out and the paddle for the break goes all the way to the floor. It barely stops and I'm afraid it's going to happen where it doesn't allow me time to stop. This should be a recall. From other complaints found on the internet many people are having the same problem.
Car started running rough, sluggish on going from still at stop to not wanting to go when acceleration should happen. Then abs light came on, followed by all the trouble lights on other side of panel. Car would only go about 5 mph. I turned car around and headed home, but it wasn't a smooth ride. I got up to about 45, but it still seemed sluggish and braking was stiff. This happened 2 years ago. Dealer said no recall for 2011, but previous and following years did have recall for this. About 2 weeks after we went to dealer and started a conversation with Nissan corporate, the car stopped having the problem and was fine fir 2vyears until now.
Brake peddle went to the bottom. There was no braking at all. Brakes did not work on 2/12/21. Pumped it a number of times, but still no brakes.
My car is working perfectly fine and with oil change at Nissan dealer (30 days back), I found no issues. Today, while driving at 30-35 mph, the brakes pedal went all the way to the floor and car did not stop easily on the turn. I was almost going to hit another car but survived. There was no pressure in the break pedal at all. The same thing happened year or so ago but did not report the issue thinking this might be due to break pad etc. But it happened again and now I don't even want to take out car on the road. I called Nissan north America after reading same issues on internet and their response was plain - "there is no recall on this vehicle" and you have to check with dealer and fix at your own cost. My question is - if there are so many complaints on the same issue and have recall with same model for 2009, how come 2011 model is not on the recall? are there any #of complaints/accidents need to be reported before Nissan takes any action?.
The abs actuator has been under recall by Nissan for certain models. After contacting Nissan customer service they have determined due to the mileage of the vehicle this safety defect is not covered under the recall.
Over the last year, for some reason the brakes pedal will go almost all the way to the floor when attempting to stop the vehicle. This happens from time to time and will cease after a few hours or a day or so and the brakes will return to operating normally. We have had the car (SUV) checked and inspected multiple times, and each time the mechanics cannot find anything wrong. I have read of other owners of the same make and year vehicle who have the same problem and have not been able to resolve it. In our case, we have not rear ended someone (yet), but it appears that others have come very close. We just took the car to the dealership two days ago and the issue reappeared again. While they had it, the brakes were working fine, after we got it home, it started happening again where the brake pedal went all the way to the floor, making it difficult to stop the vehicle. A few hours later, the issue disappeared and the brakes were working fine. Help please, before a family gets seriously injured or a family gets killed.
When braking hard the brake pedal softens and doesn't brake well it's dangerous and I was informed it was a manufacturing error. It happens all the time city highway pulling out of my drive way the vehicle can be moving or stationary this problem still occurs I was told it's the actuator and ecu antiskid. Part number 47660-1swoc supersession 01225-1aa6c;47660-1aa6b;47660-1aa6c;476601swoc.
When I press the brakes the brake pedal goes all the way down to the floor. It feels horrible unsafe because you must push the pedal as far down as it can go to get it to begin to brake. I was pulling into a walmart parking lot when the problem first happened.
Several months ago, we drove over a big dip in the road. As we came upon a stop sign just past the dip, the brakes went all the way to the floor before coming to a stop. The brakes continued to push to the floor for several days afterwards before finally going back to normal. A couple of months later, the same problem happened after going over a bump. This has happened several times over the past several months. However, the last time it happened, the brakes never got better. I took my Murano to a brake mechanic. They did diagnostic testing which showed the left front and right rear are not compressing. They believe the problem is a faulty hydraulic control unit. The 2009 Murano was recalled for this same issue. The 2011's should be also.
When coming to a stop at light, when I pushed on the break to stop, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and car will not stop. After pumping the break several times the car will eventually stop. This has happened numerous times in the last 3 weeks. I have taken my car to the dealer and other car shops and they see no visible evidence of any problems at all. I'm at a loss and my wife and myself are terrified to drive the car anymore.
Intermittent problem while driving when depressing the brake pedal it will go all the way to the floor and produce very little braking ability. On several occasions evasive action had to be taken to avoid collision. Has occurred while driving in stop and go traffic as well as on a highway. The problem appears to correct its self after vehicle is parked for a period of time. No warning lights or service indicator lights/ codes present. This problem has occurred sporadically absent of any fore warning and presents the possibility of accidental collision. This same condition has been reported in the same model over several manufacture years and although indications are the the same abs control module has been found to be at issue only the 2009 year was issued a service recall.
Vehicle is in motion on a city street. When braking over a bump, brake pedal drops to the floor, vehicle does not stop. Brake malfunction - unsafe condition. It happened twice in a month. Independent shop stated to replace anti-lock brake's hydraulic control unit. Nissan will not sell the part. Brought to Nissan dealer to check and stated it is normal. Nissan found everything operating normally and charged $ 210. 00 for the inspection.
The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Murano. While driving approximately 30 mph over a speed bump, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer who stated that the abs actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000. The VIN was not available.
While driving my Murano and applying pressure to the brakes to stop the vehicle, the brakes are spongy and will go all the way to the floor. This is a random thing that has happened, we have had the brakes checked was told there was no problem, there are no warning indicators, I have had this happen several times in the last couple of months, once while raining, all other times the roads were perfectly fine, luckily I do not drive fast or to close to people as this is a random thing that seems to happen. This has happened to me on city streets and while turning or pressing the brakes to come to a stop, usually when it happens I will pump the brake and it will come to a stop. I see that there are several complaints on this problem, I think it needs to be looked into before serious accidents happen.
While driving on a city street toward an intersection to make a right turn, I ran over a bump (manhole cover/pot hole) and my brakes "went soft". When I tried to apply the brakes, there was no pressure (resistance) and the pedal went to the floor. Fortunately, I was driving at a low rate of speed and was eventually able to stop after a much longer distance than usual or safe. (it was like a rolling stop. ) I was informed by a service technician that I should replace the abs control module (very expensive). Fortunately, I did not collide with another vehicle or object.
The pedal loses pressure when braking the car and reaches the floor. The SUV have aprox. 72,000 miles.
Took Murano to mechanic because was having problems with braking, mechanic had brake serviced and made new. Now car is not wanting to stop even when pumpin brakes. Took back and was told by mechanic at shamrock that I need new abs hydrolic break system.
