Air Bag problem #1

The passenger side airbag deployed when I shut the door. My son was sitting in the seat. This incident could have been very harmful to my son. We had just had the airbag sensor repaired after waiting 6 months for it to arrive on back order. It was also replaced in 2021 under warranty, and in 2017 under a recall. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection.

Air Bag problem #2

We have a fleet of eighteen Nv200s. The one that was listed was just repaired on 11/20/23. It had issues with the occupant air bag system. The issues with the air bag system are happening in other Nv200s that we own. I believe there is a defect in these vans that could lead to them not operate as designed, causing injury or death. The other air bag issues we have had in the Nv200s, not including the one in this report, happened on 5/18/23, 5/19/23, 9/28/23, and in 10/20/21. I have the invoices for all repairs of each of these vans if needed.

Air Bag problem #3

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Nv200. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light was illuminated, and a message was displayed indicating that the passenger's side air bag was off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the occupant classification sensor. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 60,000.
