Automatic Transmission problems of the 1998 Nissan Pathfinder

1 Automatic Transmission problem

Rpm's jump from 2. 5k to 4k randomly and repeatedly when driving on a level and smooth road at 65 mph. Sometimes rpm's stay at 4k at 50 mph when it should be 2k.

2 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2005

I was on my way to work mileage at 88000 on the Pathfinder when the vehicle started to jerk and took it to my mechanic and he told me the planetarium on the transmission was shot now I need to rebuild or get a new one and this is not the only 1998 vehicle I been hearing a lot of complaints about this year Pathfinder transmission.

3 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2005

The contact owns 1998, Nissan Pathfinder. Transmission malfunctioned at 114,000 miles on vehicle. The filter had been changed three times, and she also changed the transmission fluid. A ring gear and a bunch of metal shavings was found in the pan.

4 Automatic Transmission problem

Rolls backwards freely while in drive, has loud banging like someone crashed into back end when starting or stopping and while driving.

Transmission design allows for movement/rolling backward when vehicle is in gear.

6 Automatic Transmission problem

Securing pin inside of transmission came loose. Damaged gears on vehicle,and would not go into reverse. Please add VIN.

7 Automatic Transmission problem

The consumer stated that dearlership changed her vehicle from four- wheel drive to two- wheel drive without her permission. The problems is the vehicle cannot pull on hills, and the anti-lock brake system doesn't kick in on dry or wet pavement.
