I got this vehicle from my parents which they bought brand new . So no other owners . When I got it was acting up and took to repair . They said my radiator was bad and had leaked radiator fluid . They thought could replace radiator and flush the system . I started looking at issues online . I found so many people with the same problems . I also found that Nissan was aware of a faulty crack in radiator. Which is the exact problem I had . I already spent 1000 $ in repairs with radiator and flushing system . I am now out that money and the transmission has been effected by this issue . Tried everything possible with flushing system . Unfortunately this crack was the problem that has now left me with a perfect car that needs a transmission. So disappointed that Nissan ignores all the issues that unfortunately happened after 100,000 miles . Especially when they claim to know the radiator crack is a faulty part . That crack destroyed a perfect vehicle . Nissan should be accountable of these issues especially when their faulty part not only needed a new radiator but leaked into transmission . I am still sitting with this car . Unsafe to drive and unsafe to sell .
Vehicle started to smoke, then caught on fire. Total loss 7/12/2020. Not an accident. Vehicle just caught on fire while driving.
Timing chain failed was at home in driveway and it failed.
I drive the car and park and then when I go to start the car again it doesn't start so I have to call a tow company to get a jump to start the car and starts right up. I have taken to Nissan many times and they said nothing is wrong with the car. I have been stranded many times in the middle of the night. I got stuck the last time and it was far so I had to leave it at a family members house. This has been an on going problem and Nissan does not honor their manufacture warranty and also the extended warranty I had. I would like Nissan to buy back my car because I can't even sell it like this and I need a car to get around I'm disabled also. I'm totally discussed with Nissan.
My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder started stalling while I was driving down the road. This often happened on busy streets and in busy intersections. I would have to put the car in neutral, turn the ignition, and then put the car back in drive. Sometimes I would have to repeat this process several times. I have a 4 year old child, and this was very dangerous for us. I took the car to heritage Nissan for a diagnosis and was charged $115 to be told that my antifreeze had mixed with my transmission fluid causing my transmission to fail. I then learned that this problem happened because of a faulty radiator used by Nissan in several of their vehicles, one being my Pathfinder. Nissan has refused to issue a safety recall, even though there is a very obvious safety concern at hand. Heritage Nissan quoted me a starting price of $5000 for the repairs needed. Repairs that are needed because of the faulty radiator used by Nissan. Of course, my car was out of warranty, and Nissan is aware that the radiator can fail out of mileage range of their warranty. I am now a single mom without a vehicle, partly to Nissan's negligence.
Without any warning and sporadically as I am driving the vehicle it will jerk and then shut off, leaving me with no control over the steering or brakes. Sometimes it will be hard to start but will eventually start and this is also a random occurance. My main concern is it shutting off while driving and leaving me with no control.
My vehicle shut off on me when I was driving on highway, after it started to smoke like burning plastic. I took to my mechanic and he checked it out and I was told my raidator brusted in my transmission. It's not drive able at all.
Will not go over 30mph. . . Runs and idles fine but cuts out and bucks around at 1500 rpm . . . Will not come out of limp mode.
The coolant leaked into the transmission, destroying my transmission. The leak was caused by a defect in the radiator. The vehicle started shifting hard and several times the vehicle stalled while I driving down the the highway.
I have problems with catalic converter.
While pulling onto a busy highway my transmission malfunctioned and gears wouldn't shift properly. I barely avoided an accident. We contacted our local dealership & transmission shops to find out that tons of other people are having the same problem. The radiator hose/connection gets leak & radiator fluid is sent into transmission which corroded gears making the transmission slip or not function. We have spoken to Nissan USA themselves and got no where. I'm disgusteded that this is not a recall and people aren't being notified of this issue in 2005-2010 Pathfinder, frontier, &xterra. I have also had the frontier. Never once was I told that after or before my warranty went out that this specific part would malfunction. I'm continually told it's my fault for not getting extended warranty. I did have an extended warranty, but the issue at hand is one specific malfunctioning part not the age or warranty of my vehicle. This is complete disregard for human life and they said "sorry for the inconvenience. " we also can't be included in the class action lawsuit because we are out of warranty. I really fail to see why this is not a recall instead of warranty. Do research and find that not only in my area but all over the USA people are having the same exact malfunction of the same exact part. . This should be a recall because I wouldn't have spent $5000 extra for an extended warranty if this would happen no matter what. .
We bought this SUV back in 2005 from my local Nissan dealer. There have been other issues like a faulty pedal which back on that date when it failed, it almost made me crash. They did fix that problem at my expense since they stated I was not covered by the warranty. Now, my car is 10 years old with 90k miles and the transmission just died while driving to my relatives wedding. I did the regular trans fluid service and a few hours later the transmission failed. I took it back to Nissan to get it checked. They want me to pay over $5,000. 00 for a new transmission. I asked them why the transmission failed at only 90k miles. They did not give me any specific explanation as to why this happened. They only stated that "this type of Pathfinders have had a lot of problems" and that was it. I asked if there was any recall regarding this issue, the guy said no. I am left with no other choice than to pay the 5 grand to get my car fixed. They should not be selling faulty cars to consumers!!! I will never buy a Nissan vehicle ever again!.
While driving my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder off road on april30th 2016, the vehicle abruptly stalled and shut down on the highway, while I was driving with my young children in the vehicle. This was an extreme dangerous life threating scary situation for my children any myself. Consequently, I was forced to get he vehicle towed and was informed by the mechanic, the transmission has failed and no longer is operative, even though the transmission has and continued to be properly maintained prior to the transmission failing incident on April 30th, 2016.
The radiator cooling system leaked into my transmission and caused it to stop working so I need to replace it at a cost of $5400 for transmission and radiator is $1000. I was in motion when I first felt a trimmer every now and then for about 3 weeks then it got worst at any speed or surface and places. Nissan will not help me on this because it has 120497 miles on it. I explained to Nissan if they had sent out notice about this I would have gotten my car fixed before now. I can not get anyone to help me on this. I have read on the internet that I am not alone on this situation. Can anyone help. I have bought several new Nissans but I will buy no more and I really loved my Pathfinder.
After receiving a complimentary multi-point inspection from the local Nissan dealership, my wife told me that on the way home that the transmission seemed to not want to shift properly. Went to check transmission fluid and found that the dipstick is locked into place. Did some quick research to find out how to check fluid level and then found out about issue with Nissan Pathfinders radiators having a problem with leaking coolant into the transmission cooling system. Checked radiator and found frothing foam on the inside of the pressure cap indicating that the radiator had failed. Contacted dealership and asked them why the section of the inspection for the cooling system and transmission system were checked as "ok". Did not receive an answer. Also, we were never notified by Nissan about the issue with radiator in our Nissan. The vehicle is currently parked since the dealership said it would cost up to $3000 dollars in repairs under the agreement reached. I do not understand why this was not a recall. This situation could of caused a catastrophic failure of the transmission at speed while driving or catastrophic failure of the engine because of lack of cooling causing the engine to seize up at speed while driving.
2012 Nissan repaired radiator; 2005 Nissan Pathfinder just lost reverse. It has 115,000 miles. Nissan should help with replacing reverse. Is this under a recall?.
As I was driving and leaving the parking lot on to a busy intersection my car would not move as I stepped on the gas. Thankfully the cars behind me weren't going to fast so I was able to make it home finally at a speed of 20 mph. The car will not go into gear. We recently took our car into aamco and they told us it the engine coolant had been leaking into the transmission and there is damage to the transmission. I researched the problem and realized what happened to so many people has happened to me. Nissan wants me to take the car to their dealership and pay $125. 00 for an estimate. I explained aamco did the estimate for free but Nissan doesn't want to hear about that. Now the car is sitting in my garage since July. $3500. 00 for repairs is almost impossible at this time. Nissan needs to take care of this problem. I was never notified about any problems with this car. But I did receive my mail when they knew I was due for an oil change. My car is a 2005 and I have 100,055 miles. Payments were made on time always for this car and I paid it in off in full in 2010. The least Nissan can do is take care of this problem.
Transmission failure because of radiator blowing out and letting antifreeze mix with transmission fluid.
Timing chain noise. I'll stop by the mechanics shop and they said this is the problem Nissan has a lot of issues with the timing chain and it needs to be recalled by Nissan.
I started having issues with my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder at approximately 100,000 miles. I first noticed the problem with the heater. When I was parked the truck would not heat up only cold air with come out. Next problem was when I would step on the gas pedal the truck would jerk alot and it would vibrate when I would speed up. It was very scary, it actually felt like it was going to cause me to get into an accident, that's how terrible it felt. I took it to the Nissan dealer where I bought the truck for them to check it and they immediately knew that the problem was coming from the transmission. The coolant mixed into the radiator causing for that to go bad too. I called the Nissan headquarters after finding out that this issue was experienced by so many other owners of 2005 Nissan Pathfinders. This job cost me over $4000.
Nissan 112 report (dated 4/20/15) customer claims tranmission is not shifting correctly at 40 and 60 mph it is chugging and holding back diagnosis: car needs a trans and rad. There is coolant inside of the trans and there is trans fluid in the rad. They need to repl. Rad and transmission and flush out system - est. On repairs would be about $5500 to $6000.
Nissan needs to formally recall several vehicles with radiator/ transmission problems. In my case while I was driving my vehicle suddenly came to a stop while I was on the road driving at a speed of 55 mph. My vehicle shut down and I tried to turn on luckily it turned on and began to run again. I pressed on the accelerator it did not run more than 20 mph. I decided to tow my vehicle to a local mechanic to have it diagnosed since I was terrified of it shutting down once again in the middle of the road. My mechanic diagnosed my vehicle and concluded that fluid from the radiator had leaked into the transmission. Nonetheless, he expressed to me that this was nothing new he had seen with these vehicles. He told me that he had fixed a couple in just this last year. According to his past clients Nissan failed to do anything to correct the problem regardless of the potential hazard. I visited the dealer in which I have purchased the vehicle and explain the service man my concern. He clearly told me that my warranty was over and that the lawsuit against Nissan to be reimbursed had ended in 2013. I told him that my vehicle frequently comes to their service center for maintenance and if they were aware of the failure in theses vehicles once they reach their 100,000 miles why did they fail to correct the problem before it occurred. It surprises me that Nissan failed to inform any of its consumers of the problem when it was going through a lawsuit. He then proceeded to tell me that he could not help me and referred me to corporate office. I was told I would be called within two days. I received the call back from Nissan simply telling me my case was reviewed and they could not do anything due to the fact that my warranty is over. Nissan is putting the lives of their consumers in danger and is hiding behind their warranty guidelines to avoid correcting their engineering errors.
On 03/5/15 I took my truck in to the dealer for an oil change. Was told that the radiator coolant was getting into transmission which was causing a leak in my truck. I was asked if I saw any leaks in my driveway which I did not. I was shown the radiator cover which had white foam on it. I did not have $6000. 00 to fix my truck. I was told in about a month the transmission would cause problem. I was also told their was a recall which I had passed the mileage point. I was given the number to contact corporate which I did. They told me they would investigate. Now my truck is dealer kept. They saw were I was at the dealer up north and did a full diagnostic and numerous repairs on 03/3/14, 3/4/14, 3/10/14, 4/22/14 & 5/5/14. I received a call back from corporate within two day informing me that their was nothinhg they could do for me. I did not drive the truck from that day. I decided to take it for a second opinion so on 03/10/15 on my way to a service station my truck started to over heat on the highway and smoking. I had to have it towed to the mechanic and that is were the truck is to this day. If Nissan knew of this problem why did they not notify consumers so that we could have a mechanic do a bypass before this occur. It seems to be happening to alot of consumers after the cut off of the causing the short circuit, transmission computer is inside 100,000 mileage. The lawsuit only covered up to 100,000? what about the consumers that this affect after that mileages marker. This is so unfair to the consumer? my truck was at the dealer on a regular basis. I see online were consumers that were not affected had took it into their own hands to have the wiring re-routed to avoid this problem. I live in a state were I need a vehicle to get around. This is a major default of Nissan and a major problem with more complaints than they themselves can count.
Me and my 6 month old daughter were going down the road when my car lost all power and was like it had been shifted into neutral. My brakes weren't working properly but I got us off the road and had the car towed. After our repair guy checked all the wiring and ran test and pulled the transmission pan off the radiator coolant had leaked into the transmission full resulting in the gears messing up and the entire car undriveable. We knew about this problem and had contacted Nissan 6 months prior to check the recall and was told this vehicle had been fixed. . . . Obviously not. If it had been fixed it wasn't fixed properly or it would not have failed again many trips have been taken since then and now we are over 100,000 miles and it's a $3800 fix because Nissan either lied and it was never fixed to start with or didn't correctly fix it the first time.
Issues with the transmission. Began with radiator issues. Come to find out, there has been many issues with coolant mixing into places it shouldn't. Then the torque converter went out, and now the safety neutral switch and valve body. Very short engineering and problem after problem obviously known to Nissan but no recalls reported.
Cooling leaks into transmission causing vehicles to stall which can cause crash. Nissan America advise they all are aware of problem. Had no resolution advised the would repair for $3000. The vehicle hesitate when pressing the gas.
The vehiccle has transmission and radiator problem as diagnoised by the Nissan dealer technicia. Nissan knows about this issue with this models and they have to fix this issue as it is originated at the time of manufacturing process. Its a production defect and Nissan has to fix this.
Transmission fluid mixed with radiator fluid causing transmission to fail. Had to rebuild transmission. I received no notice of the class action lawsuit Nissan transmission/ radiator leak issues. In September of 2014 my transmission started to fail. I had it looked at by two different shops and they advised a radiator and transmission replacement. This cost $5400 out of pocket. I now read that Nissan had a class action lawsuit and would cover some cars. My car however, is over 100,000 miles and Nissan is not offering any compensation. This is totally unacceptable and I am beyond frustrated with Nissan.
The transmission in my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder has failed. My son was in a very dangerous situation on a busy street and this problem jeopardized his life. The vehicle basically stopped in the middle of a turn onto a busy street. The defective transmission/radiator breakdown is a serious situation and a known issue with these vehicles. My radiator fluid leaked into the transmission and failed. The amount to repair this vehicle and make this a safe vehicle is more than we can afford. . . . Approximately $5300 because the fuel sending unit also failed!! I feel this faulty product should be recalled and necessary repairs made or a reimbursement made by Nissan.
My 2005 Pathfinder started to have this heavy vibration sound while accelerating and a shuddering sound so on June 30th I took it to the dealer who said they didn't hear the sound so he took is and run a check on it and told me that the coolant is leaking into the transmission he then gave me back the truck and said he was going to get in touch with the warranty and called me I as still waiting for that call until my husband research it on the internet and told me to stop driving the vehicle I then took it back to the dealer on July 8th and was told the cost will be $6000 but Nissan was giving me a goodwill program of $3000 so I would have to come up with that other $3000 which I don't have right now so am out of a vehicle they know of the problem since 2012 and did not recall the vehicle , that is a rip off to consumers.
The torque convertor in the transmission failed. I noticed the vehicle stuttering at different speeds during my time on the road. I had an independent mechanic check it and a Nissan dealer confirm the diagnosis. I was told the radiator and the entire transmission had to be replaced. I found numerous complaints on-line similar to mine; the 2005 model showed the most problems with the transmission. I don't have the $5,000 to repair the vehicle. The company extended some warranties due to this problem, but all had expired or I had too many miles (131,000), and a copay of $3000 was required. Not much of an offer from a large thriving company.
Have problem with cooling system leaking into transmission.
Radiator leaked into transmission. Causing transmission failure. Also something went wrong and now they say there is something wrong with the seat that causes the passenger airbag not to work.
Had a problem with the radiator leaking a couple of years ago. My mechanic told me to put in some fluid that seals up the leak. Worked well for a while. Then this may the transmission started making noises and vibrations. Took it to my mechanic and he tells me that the radiator has leaked into the transmission. About $1,000 to fix it. I say go ahead as what choice do I have. They replace the radiator and flush the transmission about 4 times. About a month later the transmission starts shifting into 4wd by itself and the car won't go anywhere while giving it gas. Turn it off then on and that fixes it. I take it to Nissan because my mechanic shop was closed. I explain my previous repairs and my problem. They tell me about the extended warranty. Ask me if I have a factory or after market radiator installed. I don't know. So I wait until Monday to talk to my original mechanic and they say it was an aftermarket. Nissan says this is a problem and after talking to the dealership and Nissan consumer affairs they tell me they can't honor the warranty. I ask them to maybe take a statement from my mechanic that he took out the original factory radiator and replaced it, but they say they need the original which was taken to the scrap yard. Nissan had to replace the accelarator pedal and now I think I will have to replace the transmission. Lesson learned that Nissan does not make good cars. And won't back them up either.
Driving on the highway and transmission starts having a bump feel to it then car goes into limp mode and almost gets hit by another car then coast to the side of the highway and stopped on side of highway.
