Transmission failure due to radiator coolant mixing with transmission oil. I refuse to spend 4-5k on repair. This is something that is manufacturing design defect and Nissan company know about it. There should have been a recall instead of a class action lawsuit. These were not isolated issue. Nissan should pay for all the repairs. This is a scam because they know that the radiator has a defect. Nissan should be force to issue a recall or have them pay for the full repair of all affected vehicles.
Radiator coolant went into the transmission. Causing it to stop running and stuck in 4th gear. . . . . Almost making it off rte 22 so I won't get into an accident. . . . .
While in gear, traveling approx. 40mph, vehicle stopped moving without warning (no engine light, no overheating) and had to coast during heavy freeway traffic, which caused several other vehicles to suddenly slow or stop. Car was towed & code evaluation was performed. Radiator and transmission had to be replaced due to a defective radiator which leaked coolant into transmission for $5347. 52.
I have been without transportation for 2 months due to transmission problems. My truck transmission went out on me oct. 5, 2014 on my way taking my kids to school. I was very disappointed because I was late to work and had to find other means to get my kids to school. Please help¦. .
A faulty radiator caused fluid to leak into my transmission, causing major damage to the transmission and the computer inside of it. The issue was initially noticed on a drive up into the mountains (although at the time we did not what it was). As we were climbing uphill we noticed a shuddering and it felt as though the transmission was slipping a bit. We made it back home safely, but on two subsequent trips on the highway the same thing happened as well as it overheating on one occasion. I also noticed that while driving in town, the transmission would jump a bit upon putting it into gear and there was also another occasion of it overheating. Thank goodness we were never put in a dangerous situation due to this issue, although that probably has a lot to do with the fact that we limited driving on the freeway after first noticing the problem, as it was more noticeable when driving at a higher rate of speed.
Transmission went out all of sudden as I was driving on busy highway. Was unable to get speed, coolant is gone as well.
While driving my 06 niassan Pathfinder with 82000 miles on the car, it would began to shudder and shake as if running over rumble strips and temporarily lose power that nearly caused me to get in to an accident. As I was merging on to a highway when this shudder and power lose occurred. I later learned how many years of Nissans were having these same issues, from transmission fluid and radiator fluid mixing due to faulty lines causing transmission problems like mine. I am writing this complaint in hopes of making this issue aware so it can be corrected before someone loses their life. As I researched this matter I learned that if your coolant overflow appears to be a milky color than that's a sigh of contamination and of course after my near life experience mine too was contaminated. After reading so many stories of how this same experience happened to so many people, how is this issue being over looked? I got lucky I just have to replace my transmission and radiator, at least I still have my life , iam just fearful that if no action is taken the next person in a Nissan wont be as lucky.
On 08/15/14, I was pumping gas and as I was leaving I noticed that the Pathfinder's transmission would hesitate and shift hard. As I drove home, I noticed that it did the same thing after every stop. It wouldn't run as it usually did. Then I noticed that the "service engine soon" light came on. My boyfriend then went to aamco transmission total car care but was told to go at 9:30 a. M. The following day. We took it the next day, which was 08/16/14 and we received a diagnostic. The multi-point check revealed that the transmission fluid level was okay and the condition was contaminated. There is coolant contamination in the transmission. A computer scan revealed the following codes: p1710 trans oil temp, p1764 direct clutch solenoid valve circuit fault, p1731 first gear engine breaking logic error. The manager then told me that the 2005-2007 Nissan Pathfinders had this defect. When my mother called Nissan at the 1-800 number, she was told they couldn't do anything about this problem. The Pathfinder is paid off, as of this year, only to have it sit in the garage until I get it fixed. This is ridiculous! needless to say, we were never informed of any of the 5 recalls.
Coolant leak into transmission rendering vehicle useless. Out of pocket cost was 2500. 00 based off of class action suit. Nissan picked up rest. Found hundreds if not thousands of similial complaints in this regard.
Without warning the radiator leaked coolant into the transmission cooling part of the radiator and caused an almost instant burning of the transmission failure that was found to be ruined before I could even safely stop and have it towed. The car lost temporarily lost power to the rear wheels and stranded me in a dangerous intersection where I was almost t-boned. There was no prior symptoms until the transmission failed. . . . .
Transmission is failing especially in reverse, it shakes and slips. I took my truck to a transmission expert who informed me that these trucks have this manufacture issue and my truck should be under warrantee by the dealer, I did my research and I am now aware of the radiator issue and the extended warrantee will cover vehicles under 80k miles my truck just reach 60k miles which is when these issues start according to the internet. I took my truck to the dealer for repairs. They told me that my radiator was fine and I do have a transmission problem but not related to the radiator and wanted to bill me for a service fee. I called the expert I had been talking to and he advised me that this was bs and to ask if they did a glyco test which they did not and ask how they knew it was not mixing. The service manager stated to me that it will look slushy and mine was simply black or dark. Now I am no expert but antifreeze is green and trans fluid is red. Even a child knows that if you mix red and green you will get blue or a dark color, which to me explain why it is dark. The dealer just does not want to fix my truck for the price that the manufacturer will pay them which is approximately 2k so they rather tell me that it is not covered and try to bill me for 5k+ taxes so they can make a profit of 3k of which the service manager probably will get a 1k commission. I don't know what check they did but whatever it was my truck now leak antifreeze which was not an issue before I took it to them.
Have a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder le and noticed the transmission was starting to make a rumle strip noise around 45 mph. Did some reshearch and discovered that Nissan had a defective radiator which caused anti-freeeze to leak into the transmission through coolant line. Knowing that the radiators were defective why wasn't Nissan ordered to recall them. It is a safety hazard if you are traveling on the highway and your transmission fails!!! I now have to pay $2500 to pay for a known defect to have radiator and transmission replace.
Nissan Pathfinder just got to 100,000 miles when started experiencing transmission issues, turns out there was a factory warranty that I was never informed of that would have covered the radiator/transmission issue. However because I was not having an issue until the extended warranty ended Nissan is refusing to cover the cost of repairs despite knowing about this engineering fault. It is extremely frustrating that a large company such as Nissan is able to send a vehicle out into the public with known engineering flaws and put a mileage limit on repairing the issue. It is something that will inevitably fail but it is only a matter of time so it might have occurred withing the limit for some and outside the limit for others. It is my hope that you will expose this shady and unsafe practice that Nissan has going and help get people the repairs they deserve.
Driving down the road, vehicle becomes sluggish. Notice that the temperature begins to rise rapidly. In afternoon work traffic and have difficulty negotiating traffic trying not to break down in the middle of a busy road/intersection at 5:20pm. Vehicle was take to a repair shop where I was informed that the radiator had ruptured, thus sending coolant into the transmission and transmission fluid into the engine. Current estimate is approx $3000.
Service engine light is staying on. Took to dealer and ses code read catalytic converter needs to be replace. Did some research online and looks like this is a common problem 02 sensor does not report airflow. $1200 dealer repair. Not sure why there hasn't been a recall.
I was driving yesterday night when my car started jerking and stopped suddenly on the highway, thankfully the cars behind me were able to stop avoiding a crash because there was lots of traffic, but otherwise, this would have been a fatal crash. The car would not move for several minutes, people had to help push it off the highway. Then after a while it started moving again. I was able to drive the car, jerking all the way back to my house. I had previously noticed a jerking whenever I am accelerating or decelerating, I took it to the dealership and they informed me that it was an issue with the transmission of Pathfinders owing to a defect in manufacture that causes radiator fluid to mix with coolant affecting the transmission. They flushed the transmission but the jerking continued. I was searching the internet on this and saw many complaint on this. This issue need to be resolved. I am glad I was spared but life's are being put in danger.
My truck was shifting really hard for approximately two or three days and I took it to a service shop to have them take a look at it and they found radiator fluid had leaked into the transmission on my truck. I had no idea this was something that was a known issue by Nissan, after doing some research I found that because I didn't meet the strict requirements for them to cover any cost or out of pocket expenses for the repair I had the service center replace the defective radiator only to find that there was damage done to the transmission too, looking at a cost of over $4,500. 00 I was very disappointed with Nissan's lack of commitment to taking care of their customers who were experiencing this issue namely me.
Engine coolant hose ruptured into the transmission fluid. First noticed it when the engine was running hot. Found out this is a factory defect.
Corrosion in radiator parts allowed coolant to contaminate transmission fluid resulting in failure of transmission.
Fluid from radiator leaked into transmission which destroyed both.
Took my car in for brand new tires. . Mechanic attempted to start my car, but failed. Had to get my car towed to a Nissan dealership and they stated 24 hours later after receiving my car I will need a new transmission and radiator although my car was maintained and always serviced. They stated I will need to pay $6,000 for repairs to drive my car. Right now I am paying a car note and can't drive my car.
I'm currently financing a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder which I purchased June 2012 at 78000 mi. In February of 2014 I went to get an oil change and the mechanic informed me that there is oil in the antifreeze compartment. A few days later I noticed that my car "shuttered"every time I shift gear to reverse or to drive. I noticed my vehicle "losing power" when I accelerated. At one instance I was driving up a hill and the vehicle basically lost power and it started to reverse backwards without the gear being shifted into reverse. I immediately stopped the car with the emergency brakes and turned the car off. Scariest experience of my life. I immediately called a tow truck and I sent it to a Nissan dealership. They informed me that there was a manufactured defect with the make and model of my car. The engine coolant is leaking into the transmission causing the transmission to become damaged. After months of calling Nissan north America they basically told me there's nothing they can do. I found that absurd seeing there was a settlement for this issue my car was experience. I ended up paying $4000 to repair the transmission/radiator and other issues causes by this manufactured defect through a Nissan dealership in April 2014. A year goes by and I'm now I'm experiencing the same "shuterring" issue when shifting gears and I noticed that my transmission is slipping once again. This is my first ever vehicle. It's absurd what Nissan has done. There has to be justice for Nissan owners. Never again will I buy a Nissan modeled car. Never!!!!!.
2006 Nissan Pathfinder - took in for tune-up and was notified about broken seam on radiator. Coolant was leaking into the transmission. Ended up spending over $1,000 on a new radiator and repairs and may need a new transmission. Researched the defected parts and discovered that this is a common problem with Nissan Pathfinders. Nissan needs to issue a recall for this problem. They know it exists, and it is irresponsible of them to do nothing about it. It is a safety concern.
I have heard that several people are having problems with their transmission fluid getting radiator fluid in it. The classic signs and symptoms that have started with my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder are: 1. Horrendous shuddering when pressing on the gas to increase my speed, 2. Occasional banging when my automatic car shifts into gear, 3. Delay in speed when I attempt to pass. Since all of this had started right after 100,000 miles a new transmission is not covered. I am a single mom who is a hospice nurse, I drive all day, having a reliable car puts food on the table for my kids. I don't have $3,000 to fix this problem. I could cry, I don't know what I am going to do. Right now I just keep driving it knowing it is going to break down any day. I was informed by so many people that Nissan was a great company and manufactured a great vehicle when I decided to by this Pathfinder. I am soooo disappointed!!! I will never buy another Nissan vehicle, I'm sorry, for the amount that I originally paid for this vehicle, it should not start falling apart at 108,000 miles.
Transmission failed with no notice only 110000 miles upset and not safe! now I hve no car and Nissan wants to charge me 8,500 to fix seems so unjust I'm a widow with children and struggled to pay for my car and this shouldn't happen at just over 100 thousand miles!.
2006 Nissan Pathfinder se the radiator seems to have a bad leak and bad smell, motor keeps over heating causing it not to be driven until motor has cooled off, I need to keep putting water in radiator. The transmission seems to jerk and makes a loud sound when changing shifts and driving. The motor also has a squicky sound when driving. I have taken the car for repair and the same thing happen again only this time even worse I can not afford the high Nissan service and part prices. I am still paying on this car, Nissan should fix the problem at no charge if there is a defect that caused so much trouble to my car not to mentioned the safety of my three children and I. Nissan needs to recall 2006 Nissan Pathfinder radiator and transmission cross contamination.
I was shocked to find out that my transmission and radiator needed replaced after such low mileage. Dealer said it was a design defect and it would be covered by Nissan who extended the warranties on vehicles with this problem because of a class action lawsuit. What disturbs me is that I was told I could have had a catastrophic failure in my Pathfinder. I literally could have pulled out onto a highway and my transmission might have failed. With 3 small children who ride in the backseat, this might have resulted in serious injury or death. How can this admitted defect not result in a recall so all affected vehicles could be inspected for safety??? and my "new" remanufactured transmission has a very limited warranty now , not the 60,000. On my original transmission so I'm afraid of future repair costs. So unfair!!!.
I, along with my daughter and friend was traveling back from florida, my Nissan Pathfinder started to jerk and wouldn't pull, we by the grace of god made it home and when I got here I turned my truck off. My husband asked me to pull the hood and he check all the fluids in the vehicle. I switch the car on and it would say anything. We check everything and nothing help. I did got my vehicle towed to fivestar Nissan after finding out that there was a recall on the ecm relay,. They replace it and after then found out that it still did not work. The dealer called and stated that it was the radiator and the coolant. They said we were out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. I just purchased this vehicle 2 1/2 years ago and still got to pay for it. This is not good business. I need help. I need justice for all the ones like myself who go to work, make a living, and expect that when I make a purchase that people will stand behind what is right.
Vehicle overheated and radiator fluid contaminated the transmission. I spoke with Nissan and asserted that this is a known factory defect. Nissan refuses to honor or warrantee repair costs.
Coolant leaked in to transmission causing damage to both radiator and transmission.
Driving at a substantial speed of 40mph car just stopped even though car was still running. Radiator and transmission went all of a sudden. Was almost rear ended. Had towed to Nissan dealer in turnersville NJ. They stated that it was 12,000 of extended warranty that was issued a year or so ago. I was never notified of a class action suit and that this problem would occur all of a sudden as I was driving. Apparently a faulty radiator caused fluid to go into transmission and destroy it making car just stop running in the middle of a highway. The regional office told me I did not get a notice because I was the second owner. I was willing to pay a $3,000. 00 copay but they would not even approve that. Now they want 5,900 to replace the transmission and radiator. The car is only worth 8 or 9 thousand. I am 67 years old and do not have that kind of money. I am in a hopeless situation. Please assist.
There was a jerk in my car and the check engine light came on. I pressed the gas and it wouldn't go anywhere. The radiator fluid leaked into the transmission and caused the my car to stop.
My wife reported her Pathfinder hesitating, noticable lack in power, and a decrease in mpg. Before our family was about to travel to another state (new mexico to colorado) I decided to do my own little pre trip inspection. I pulled the air filter and blew it out with air, checked the oil dipstick and it read in operating range, when I pulled the transmission dipstick it was covered with contaminated oil. The engine coolant is mixing with the transmission fluid in the heat exchanger cooler. If this vehicle is driven any longer transmission failure is imminent.
My Nissan came to a stop while driving home. I was going no more than 30 mph and my car started to shake and then it stopped and would not move anymore. I took it to a shop and they said it was the transmission and would have to rebuilt it. The shop kept my car for a month and was unable to fix it, even after rebuilding the transmision. I finally took it to a Nissan dealership and they stated that the problem was the radiator and transmission. They would fix it, but it would cost me $6,700. Because my car is over mileage in the extended warranty that Nissan had offered, I would get no financial assistance to fix my car--even though this is a manufacturing defect. This is just outrageous and irresponsible that Nissan will not recall the transmission and radiator problem. Luckily I was not traveling on the expressway at the time the transmission failed or there would have been fatalities. I will never purchase a Nissan ever again!!.
Radiator failed allowing coolant to contaminate transmission causing it to fail as well. I really like this vehicle and I feel Nissan should pay to fix all of these affected since it is a known equipment failure and has happened at such a wide range of mileage. I had this one checked at 60,000 miles and had no problem with niether part and I have been watching it regularly but didnt catch it in time when it finally went. I am an ase certified mechanic for the last 20+ years and once a transmission is contaminated with coolant there is only on fix and that is to replace or rebuild. . . . . Not just a flush and send on your way!.
