2006 Nissan Pathfinder. Consumer writes in regards to fuel sending unit recall notice. The consumer was informed his VIN was not included in the recall.
I own a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder, first my fuel sensor failed, and now at approx 92,000 miles my vehicle has this horrible vibration at 45mph and 60 mph. After thinking it was my tires off balance and having them serviced and an alignment done, I decided to do some research online and called my Nissan service dept. To my surprise this is a very common problem with this vehicle and it is a problem with the transmission and radiator fluids mixing, causing the tranny to fail. If this is not a major safety concern I am not sure what is. Please review, it will cost the consumer approx $8,000 to fix and not to mention the inconvenience. If this were an isolated incident I would not complain, but there are a massive amount of complaints. I even contacted Nissan corp. And after 3 weeks I am still waiting on a return call. I do highway driving and have 3 children in my vehicle daily. This is a major concern.
On Tuesday Feb 14, 2012 I took my car in cause it had a recall for the gas gauge not reading gas level. My car was reading check engine soon, car was working perfect they put the computer on and nothing came up as the car having anything wrong with it. Even the check engine light had turned off. On Friday Feb 17, 2012 while driving in the middle of the highway my car completely turned off and would not start at all I had someone help me push the car to the side of the road, where then I finally got it to start again. Called Nissan and they told me they can send a tow truck to bring it into the dealer but if has nothing to do with the work that was done I have to be responsible for the tow. The person at the dealer that I spoke to said that according to the information I was giving him of the problem it may have something to do with the work but he couldn't be sure. On sat Feb 18, 2012 I took my car into the dealer, now they tell me that all of a sudden the cracker system of the car was bad because when they changed the fuel gauge there's more electricity is going in and that was the problem I had to pay 300. 46 for something that I was not told could happen if I fixed something that wasn't given me any real problems before. Now the car is saying check engine soon again and the truth is I'm afraid to take it back to the dealer. I've had that car for 6 years never, ever had a problem with the car I take it to the dealer and now different things are coming up.
Fuel sending unit was replaced. Gauge was not reading fuel level before replacement. Work has been performed outside of dealer. Requesting reimbursement.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled. The dealer was notified and stated that the electronic fuel sender unit needed to be replaced. The manufacturer had been contacted, but advised contact that her vehicle was not included in the previous recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The current mileage was approximately 90,000. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
I purchased a pre-owned 2006 Pathfinder le from Honda, during the test drive the car was ok, but as soon as we sign sales contract got the keys and they gave us a $20 gas re-imburstent, vehicle's fuel gauge went wacky and said that we were on empty and light came on. Took it back to the dealership and they sent me to their 3rd party mechanic who are wonderful and changed out the fuel sender. Car ran find afterwards, not even 2 months later and only put about 1200 miles on the vehicle, problem re-occurred. Called Honda and the sales man that sold us the car said to bring it back to their 3rd party but did not guarantee that they will help pay for the issue. Did some research and found that their has been a recall on the same make and model of car that I purchased, but when I called Nissan to ask if vehicle is under warranty they said no it is not and they cannot do anything or will assist me in anyway, but would like me to take it to Nissan dealer to get it diagnosed at my cost, and to call them back to give them feed back. I said no thanks, and now I have been trying to contact the pre-owned sales manager by phone but he will not return my calls, I will go tomorrow to their office to see again if they will help me with the cost and find a permanent fix since this is my family vehicle which I told the sales man.
The fuel level sending unit of my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder failed at approximately 45k miles in July 2010. This is apparently a significant issue for some Nissan vehicles as the internet has hundreds of similar complaints. In addition, Nissan released bulletin ntb07-069a regarding faulty fuel level sensors. I am currently working with Nissan to have them resolve their faulty unit in my vehicle, however initially they indicate this is not a covered repair despite the hundreds of active complaints I can find all over the internet. My concern is that the vehicle may run out of fuel while on the road, a major issue for my familys safety.
Fuel gauge does not register or erratic. This is a known issue with Nissan. Nhtsa campaign #10v-075 to include Nissan/pathfinder/2006 for this specific problem. Yet, Nissan dealer continue to refuse to make repair on a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder with this specific problem because "VIN number not part of recall".
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated the fuel gauge failed. In addition, the driver side mirror failed while the contact attempted to adjust the mirror. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failures. The dealer replaced the fuel gauge sensor. The contact stated that most recently, the transmission would exhibit failures and was slow to respond to acceleration attempts when in reverse. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. The driver side mirror and the transmission were not repaired. The failure mileage was 36,500 and the current mileage was 92,000. Kmj.
I have a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. It has been diagnosed by a Nissan dealer with a defective fuel level sensor. This same issue has triggered a recall for 2005 and 2006 vehicles manufactured within three months of my manufacturer date yet has not been expanded to include all of the 2006 model year. This is an existing issue that should be included in the current recall. This could result in accidents and injuries as vehicles can unexpectedly run out of gas and become uncontrollable on highways or other dangerous scenarios. I contacted Nissan and asked them to review this issue and include the entire 2006 model year but was told that it would not be at this time.
Nissan 2006 Pathfinder models come with defects that Nissan will not take responsibility for. The fuel sending unit on this vehicles are defected and can cause people to run out of gas and put themselves in danger. Also the radiator can cause a leek and send fluid into the transmission causing possible accident. Nissan refuses to admit this is a recall problem.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated after filling the vehicle with gasoline fuel, the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The dealer was contacted and advised the vehicle was not included in any recalls pertaining to the fuel system. The vehicle did not receive any repairs. The failure mileage was 83,000 and the current mileage was 84,000.
My 2006 Nissan Pathfinder recently began displaying the "service engine soon" light in response to both the fuel gauge and the electronic dte fuel gauge which have failed. As a result, it is difficult to determine how much fuel is currently in the vehicle at any given time.
I have a Nissan Pathfinder with a fuel sensor problem. However, since the Nissan Pathfinder was built in April 2006 it is not included in the Nissan fuel sensor recall (even know it is the same issue as Pathfinders built in March 2006 that are included in the recall. Nissan won't do anything for me. I have called and complained but to no avail. Can the recall be expanded, this is the vehicle for my wife and kids. . Read more...
The driver seat belt will not unlock and sometime the fuel gauge do not work.
Fuel sending sensor unit on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder is shot. It appears to be an ongoing issue with this make/model as well as other Nissan products and should be a recall no questions asked.
Starting in Dec. 2009, gas gauge on 2006 Nissan Pathfinder works intermittently/ erratically. Check engine light came on soon after. Autozone checked obd ii, and found fuel sensor error (p0463). There are multiple complaints on Nissan Pathfinder forum, all with similar/identical problem. Just adding my name to the list requesting Nissan address this potential safety problem unless you keep track of mileage, and know mpg, you run risk of running out of gas. Also noted that error code on obd ii may cause failure of emissions/safety check. Can't license car!.
Fuel sending sensor fails to register properly. Appears to be a known problem having done a google search. Gas gauge reads full then empty. Never sure how much fuel is in the vehicle. Not sure if there's a possibility the vehicle will think it's out of fuel at any given time. What if I'm driving down the road and the vehicle thinks there's no fuel? Nissan dealer says OH well. They want any where from $500 to a $1000 to fix, then there's not guarantee it will fix the problem? this is not right.
The fuel gauge in my 06 Nissan Pathfinder is failing. It has been doing so since last November. Sometimes the gauge drops to "e" no matter how much gas is in it and sometimes it reads there is more gas than there actually is. The service engine light remains lit since the first occurrence. According to the web, the 06 Pathfinders built from Jan through March have already been recalled. Mine was built in may and the service manager at harrisonburg, va Nissan advises I am not eligible for the recall. It is more than obvious to me that my Pathfinder, built two months later than the current recalled ones, is having the same exact issue and should also be recalled. I have 3 small children and am very concerned about being on the highway and possibly running out of gas. I carry a full gas can with me, however I do not think this is a safe practice. This is the sixth Nissan I have owned since becoming a driver. I have always been more than satisfied with the product. This experience has been quite a disappointment. I am re-evaluating my thoughts on Nissan. Please help me.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) I own a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. The fuel-sending unit went out in October of 2009. I took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that it was not covered under the warranty. In March of 2010 my wife heard about the recall campaign regarding faulty fuel-sending units in 2006 Pathfinders. When I took the vehicle to the dealer again I was told my vehicle was not part of the recall. I called Nissan consumer affairs in October and again in April and no assistance was offered. I was told however that another recall campaign could take place, but at this time there was nothing they would do to cover the repair. The service manager at the dealer informed me that the unit on my vehicle was caused by the same problem the other units involved in the recall had suffered from. I explained this to Nissan but to no avail. I am writing this in hopes that there is any information you can offer me to encourage Nissan to fix this problem. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter. [xxx].
The fuel level indicator does not work on my car. I have no way of knowing when my car is low on fuel other than to keep a running tab on how many miles I have driven since the last fill up of fuel. Recently I was driving and my car totally shut off in the middle of the street. I lost my power steering and could not pull over. Several cars almost ran directly into my rear as it happened so suddenly. I came to find out that the reason my car stopped was that I was out of gas and had no idea that my fuel was low (due to the fact that the fuel level indicator does not work). My husband has the exact same model vehicle as I do and the same thing happened to him. He had no idea that he was low on fuel and his car cut off in the middle of an extremely busy major atlanta expressway. He had to manually steer his vehicle off of the road and avoid being smashed into by other vehicles traveling at well over 65 mph. Since discovering this we both try to keep track of how many miles we've driven since filling up but we never know accurately how many miles we can get per fill up. I've been doing research and have found dozens upon dozens of people with the same problem with their Nissan Pathfinders. Even the repair facility we tried to take it to was aware of this problem as they have people with the same problem almost weekly. I fear that I could get into a serious accident due to the fact that I have no idea that I am low on fuel. I truly believe that a manufacturer recall is in order and the Nissan corp is putting it's consumers in harms way by refusing to have this repaired free of charge.
I have a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder that just out of the blue, the service engine just came on. I have read in the internet, and there are a lot of complaints about this subject. We are talking about gasoline, a very flammable and explosive liquid, combine that with a defective electrical fuel sensor and we are talking fire or worst. Nissan is not doing anything about this, except telling people to replace the sensor. My Nissan just went over 39, 000 miles, how convenient, out of warranty. I just hope nobody is waiting for something bad happens before this issue is resolved. Thanks.
2006 Nissan Pathfinder has stopped 3 times in the middle of the road while driving down the street, car will not re-start, had to be towed to a dealership all 3 times. Fuel sensor replaced, in the shop now for the same problem the third time.
I have a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder with 51,000 miles that has just encountered an bad fuel sending unit. Error code p0463. Since it has passed the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty, I am going to be paying about $500 to get it fixed. In researching this problem on the internet, I have found out that this is happening to many later Nissan models with the same fuel sending unit. Thank you for looking into this matter.
I am having a problem with the gas gauge on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. It just started about 3 weeks ago. I have a constant "check engine light" on and it was checked out by the mechanic at a Nissan dealership and he said it is a sensor problem with the gas gauge. I have not had it repaired yet because I feel that this is should be a recall issue for this vehicle. My vehicle is only 3 years old and has about 46,000 miles on it. I have done some research online and this seems to be a frequent complaint about 2005/2006 Nissan Pathfinders. This is a safely issue because it makes it nearly impossible to detect when the car is running out of gas. I have been trying to track it manually for the time being.
Fuel gauge messing up. . . Causing check engine light to come on. Huge reading low when full.
I have a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. I stopped at the gas station to put gas and when I started the engine the fuel level was still reading empty and my dte was reading ----. Then my service engine light came on. Now the only way I can tell if I have gas or not is by estimating the mileage I have driven. My Pathfinder has about 60k miles. I have read many similar complaints about the same problem.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact noticed the fuel level indicator was reading inaccurate fuel levels. In addition, the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The dealer advised the fuel sensor was defective and would need to be replaced. The manufacture advised there were no recalls and would not provide any assistance. The fuel sensor was not replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000 and the current mileage was 75,000.
After filling up, fuel gauge reads 1/4 full and dte gives reading of ----. Happens every time refill for the last month. Vehicle has 46k miles. Friend has a 2006 xterra that had same problem and they were told to replace sending unit module.
I am writing about my recent experience with Nissan regarding a recall on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder, which I purchased in may of 2008 as a pre-owned vehicle. The recall with the NHTSA campaign id number of 10v075000 involves a flaw with the fuel sending unit. I never received a notice from Nissan regarding this recall, which Nissan states is an extended warranty. I noticed that there was a problem with the fuel gauge sometime ago. Three weeks ago I was doing research online to try and find a solution to the problem. That is when I discovered the recall. I immediately contacted orr Nissan in bossier city 318-752-3000, since that is the dealer that I purchased the Pathfinder from. I spoke to mike in the service department who told me that I would have to pay to have the problem fixed, because the mileage was over 72,000 miles and that it would cost me around $600 had I known about the recall, it would have been within the mileage specified when I contacted them. I took the next step and called Nissan USA at 1-800-647-7261 and spoke to [xxx] at ext#[xxx]. [xxx] told me that the reason I was never notified was due to an error on Nissan's part, since they never entered my information into their computer system designating me as the new owner of the vehicle. So, the notice was sent out to the prior owners whom live in another state. At that point she opened a case for me with the case #[xxx]. I was contacted by [xxx] from 1-800-343-6913 ext#[xxx], who told me that they were not going to honor the recall and make the repair, because I did not have my Pathfinder serviced at Nissan. He then said that I would have to pay for it myself. Well, I have taken it in on numerous occasions for an oil change and regular maintenance, they did not spot it on either occasion. But, even if I had never taken it to them for maintenance, I should not be punished for servicing my own vehicle. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
2006 Nissan Pathfinder. The gas gauge works intermittently. It has been this way for over a year. I've noticed multiple other complaints with the same problem I've read that there is a problem with the sending unit. There should be a recall.
Starting in January 2008, the gas gauge 0f my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder works erratically. Check engine light came on soon after. Westernauto checked the failure, and found fuel sensor error. There are a lot of complaints on Nissan Pathfinder forum, all with similar/identical problem. Just adding my name to the list requesting Nissan address this potential safety problem because the risk of run out of gas.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the fuel level gauge was inoperable. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but denied any assistance with repairs to the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 26,000 and the current mileage was 115,000.
