Check engine light went on and fuel registered empty on the dash. Since that time fuel gauge has not registered correctly going from full to empty at sporadic time but will never register less than 1/2 a tank causing issues as you never now how much fuel you have until you run out which is a safety hazard. Took to Nissan they said it was a fuel gauge issue and it would be over 500 to fix as they had to drop the tank to get at the fuel sensor. I was told there was a recall don't know why it didn't register as other Pathfinders have this issue . Also don't know why a mileage warranty is put on this they should fix the issue with the fuel tank regardless as it seems as soon as the vehicle hits 70k in mileage this breaks on the vehicle. Also don't believe they included all Pathfinders in this warranty as I am sure the dealer would have replaced it if it was a recall.
Fuel sending unit . . . . . Tank reads 1/4 to 1/3 to empty on panel and runs out of gas . . . . While driving gauge fluctuates to full half and none after filing up and continues to do so no matter how much fuel . . . . . . Digital reading says 0 to 30 to 120 to 300 miles after filling up . . . Check engine light is on giving a error code for fuel sender. . . . There was a recall on the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder for this issue but Nissan states that my vehicle does not fall in the recall . . . . . . Vehicle was manu 05/06. . . And has the same issue as the recall for 80,000 other Nissan vehicles made the same year. . . Nissan wants me to pay 98. 00 for a diagnostic when I've had one done by a auto shop and the code matches the fuel sending unit. . . . Nissan states they are unsure if they will cover the fuel sender or assist in repairdue to the fact my 06 Pathfinder wasn't included in the recall.
Within a year of having the fuel level sending unit replaced as part of a recall, the same symptom appeareared as described in the recall and as was happening before the initial recall work was done. The root cause of the problem was a deformation of the fuel tank that would cause the sending unit to "hang up". When I returned to the Nissan dealership to repair the problem again, they then told me that the problem was a bulging fuel tank and wanted to replace the fuel tank. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs, they reviewed my claim and decided thay would not cover the repairs. In my mind the root cause was never truly addressed and now I am paying to repair what should have been initially repaired in the first place.
2006 Nissan Pathfinder v-6 le the fuel gauge sending unit (25060-r51003) has failed. Constantly says tank is empty. Received warranty notification from manufacturer stating there is an issue with the part, but will not replace it.
The gas gauge on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder read 1/4 of tank of gas remaining and suddenly engine stopped running and I had to pull over to the shoulder. After my husband exhausted all efforts trying to detect the problem, he put gas in it to see if that was it (because gauge was reading 1/4 of tank remaining. ) after putting gas in, car started and we drove it home. Went to gas station to fill up with gas and service engine soon light came on and gas gauge no longer works properly. I usually get 330 miles to tank of gas and now the gas light comes on and stays on after going 200 miles on a tank. Nissan dealership wants $500 to repair and as it turns out, thousands of people are having the same problem. It is very dangerous to drive down the highway and not know if your vehicle is going to shut off because you don't have gas in it (when you do have gas in it. . . Just not enough for some sensor in your gas tank to recognize. ) I have held off on paying for this repair because I want Nissan to recall this fuel issue and repair it. I have been a loyal Nissan customer (2 maximas before this Pathfinder) but this is starting to change my mind.
Service engine soon light came on. Fuel gauge is not registering properly. Filled tank, gauge does not register full tank. Will run out of gas if gauge not registering properly. It occurs every time gas is put in car ses light comes on and gauge doesn't register full. Dealer was going to replace fuel level sending unit but we elected not to replace because of cost. Called Nissan - other 2006 Pathfinders qualify for replacement under recall but they say my VIN does not fall under current recall.
Fuel system sensor/gas gauge not working properly all the time (tank can be full or empty) you would not know had to purchase the sensor from Nissan and Nissan had to repair for $700. 00.
2006 Nissan Pathfinder. Fuel gauge fluctuates dramatically and intermittently after filling tank up with gas and check engine light comes on and off intermittently when fuel gauge acts up. This happens every time the tank is filled with gas. The gauge will move anywhere between empty, with the gas light coming on, to full. Wife and daughter thought they had a fuel leak and pulled onto emergency shoulder on busy interstate at rush hour because the fuel gauge dropped to 1/4 tank within a few miles of filling up. I called Nissan and they said the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder was recalled for this reason, but I was told my VIN did not qualify so they will not fix the problem and the vehicle is out of warranty due to mileage.
When we filled fuel tank on our 2006 Nissan Pathfinder, the fuel gauge would not reflect the tank being full but stayed at 1/8th and service engine soon light came on and stayed on. Fuel gauge still does not reflect accurate level in tank.
2006 Nissan Pathfinder with fuel sending unit failure. When tank is filled up, gauge will indicate empty until the vehicle is turned off and on for appx 8 times. If you are driving cross country, you will run out of gas as I did if you don't calculate mpg. Nissan has not recalled this part even though it is occuring often (noticed through online forums) and even though know it is faulty.
2006 Nissan Pathfinder fuel level sensor has been diagnosed as having failed. Nissan has a recall on some 2006 Pathfinders' fuel level sensor, but my VIN is not on the list. Having a vehicle with a faulty fuel level sensor is a safety hazard in that one could run out of fuel and cause an accident if the fuel gauge is reading that there is fuel in the tank. Every Nissan Pathfinder with this problem should be fixed by Nissan no matter the VIN. There are many other Pathfinder owners who have experienced this same issue according to edmund's town talk and autoforums classifieds 1000.
06 Pathfinder, when the gas tank gets below 1/2 tank, service engine light comes on. Problem is sensor.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) Nissan has issued a recall for these vehicles, but my VIN number was not included ([xxx]) 2006 Pathfinder. The recall began March 22, 2010 for fuel sending units. Vehicle shows 1/4 tank when vehicle is actually empty. This is a safety issue and should be fixed by Nissan as well.
My check engine light was repaired by ted russel Nissan on 9/24/2010. They installed 25060-zz00a : gauge assy tank installed 17342-ea" packing fuel gauge total cost with labor 466. 08 on 1/6/2012 I went to ricks service center because my check engine light was on again for a month repairs were pcm diagnostic test & data vapor canister valve replaced r&r canister vent control valve replaced total cost 215. 17.
Fuel gauge on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder with 59,000 miles shows empty when the tank is full. Check engine light stays on. Dealer blames a faulty fuel sensor but it appears that a wealth of other Pathfinder owners have experienced the same issue. Appears to be an issue with the design of the truck.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact was driving approximately 65 mph with a half a tank of gasoline in the fuel tank. Suddenly, the fuel gauge displayed empty. The check engine and the fuel tank warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The failures occurred after the fuel tank was consumed to the half tank capacity level; however, after a few days the fuel gauge adjusted to the correct reading. The warning indicators remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle had not been repaired when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 65,000. The current mileage was 71,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the fuel level indicator would provide inaccurate fuel levels. The indicator would display an empty reading after the contact had completely refueled the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was advised that the fuel system sending unit had failed. The dealer also informed the contact that there was a recall for the failure under NHTSA campaign id number: 10v075000 (fuel system: gasoline: storage: auxiliary tank) however, the contacts vehicle was not included in the recall. The contact confirmed with the manufacturer that the vehicle was not included in there call. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.
Nissan Pathfinder 2006 problem with the gas tank it marks like is a quarter when really the tank is full, and when the tank is half, the needle marks empty.
2006 Nissan Pathfinder, reading posts it seems as though my fuel sensor is bad in my vehicle. Fill tank and it still registers a half a tank, this seems to be an ongoing issue with Nissans and believe they have installed a faulty part that keeps on failing in all the vehicles they are installed in. From what I understand this does not effect the operation of the car. I believe Nissan needs to provide a recall on these Nissans that this part was installed and forgo any cost to the consumer.
I own a 2006 Pathfinder that I purchased new from the dealership. My issue began with a fill up when I had 1/3 of a tank of gas and found that the needle did not move until the following day. When it did finally register, the service engine light came on. The following week I had 1/4 of a tank of gas and went to fill up. After filling up my gas tank, I turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. After driving a couple miles, the needle dropped to empty and the check engine light came on. I had a diagnostic done and it read that there is an issue with the fuel level sensor. I called the dealer and was told that the fuel sensor was not covered under warranty and there are no recalls for this problem. I was amazed there is no action from Nissan considering the multitude of entries I discovered on the internet with the exact problem. It appears that this is an ongoing issue with models ranging from 2005-2007. This repair is estimated to cost upwards of $700 from the dealer. This safety issue makes me very uncomfortable to drive any distance and is due to a faulty part that Nissan should remedy at no cost to the vehicle owner. The consumer affairs department also informed me there are no recalls for this problem and I will have to let an authorized Nissan center diagnose and correct the problem and only gave me a case number to refer to if I was not satisfied.
2006 Nissan Pathfinder le gas gauge read 1/4 tank on my way to work with baby in car, ran out of gas when I thought I had 1/4 tank. Brought it to dealership they said they replaced the fuel level sensor. At a red light last night with 1/2 tank (according to gauge) all of the sudden gas low level light flashes and dte reads---- apparently dealership did not do what they said they did or problem lies elsewhere. There are thousands of other Nissan owners with this same problem. There needs to be a recall issued plain and simple!.
Fuel level sending unit. Inconsistent. Faulty part appears others are experiencing same problem sometimes works properly and other times reports empty tank although gas tank full.
Instrument fuel gauge show that the vehicle has one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty.
Fuel gauge inaccurate. Shows empty tank even after I fill up. Works later that day until fuel falls to 1/2 full.
My 2006 Pathfinder with 49k miles, the gas gauge went to completely empty. The dte read ------ after I filled the gas tank completly. Then my service engine light came on. The gas gauge after about 10 miles moved up to 1/2 tank, but service light is still on. Did some research and found service bulletin ntb07-069a , which seems to indicate this is a real problem with several models, including xterra's. I went to autozone and pulled the code po463 which confirmed the fuel sending unit is the issue. Now trying to find out why they apparently won't cover it.
"I had 1/4 of a tank of gas on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder and went to fill up. After filling up my gas tank, I turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. After driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. I went directly to the dealer and was told that it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was no longer covered after 30k miles. After returning home and doing research, I went online to x. Nissanhelp. Com after performing a search, I came across many others who have experienced the same problem. Apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. A similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger(I have to young kids). It seems that something in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. There is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 3 yrs and with around 57k. If this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, frontiers, and Pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer!! why wait for accidents and possible deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. Paid $300 for the repairs. ".
About a month ago my wife went to fill up our 2006 Pathfinder and when she finished the gas gauge showed only half fill. She went to another gas station tried to fill it up but it only took another dollar. The next day I called up Nissan who said it was the sending unit in the gas tank and would be apx $600 to fix. I saw other logs of xterras having this problem and there was a recall. Our car was just past the 3 year warranty. If this were the only problem with this car I'd pay to get it fixed. But I've had another but problems with this vehicle. I've gone through 3 sets of rotors and I'm on my 3rd set of tires. The drivers side door lock broke and to be brought in twice, and the bose system has a cd stuck which I can't get out. This happened only after we owned it a few months.
Fuel gauge on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder with 62,000 miles shows empty when the tank is full. Dte reads -----, and check engine light stays on.
Fuel gage indication went from 1/2 tank to empty indication and the check engine indication went on.
I had 1/2 of a tank of gas and went to fill up. After filling up my gas tank, I turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. It continued to register as empty(------) after driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. After several days the gas did register in the tank. I went to auto zone and had computer tested I was told it was a fuel sending unit/sensor. I have over 60,000 miles on my vehicle and it is not covered under warranty for any problems. After returning home and doing research, I went online to x. Nissanhelp. Com after performing a search, I came across many others who have experienced the same problem. Apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. A similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger. It seems that something in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. There is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 2 yrs and with around 39k-49k. If this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, frontiers, and Pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer!! why wait for accidents and possible deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. Cost of repair ranges from $300-600.
I have a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. While driving, I apparently ran out of gas, even though my gas gauge showed I had over a 1/4 tank, and my dte showed 61 miles to go. Several times, my gauge would be down to a 1/4 tank, and suddenly jump up to a 1/2, and my dte would increase by about 20-30 miles. It's a good thing I have aaa. They brought me some fuel, and it started right up, and I was able to get to a gas station and fill up. This is equipment failure on Nissan's part, and needs to be a recall, as it seems to be a common problem with other owners of both Pathfinders, and xterra's.
The service engine soon light came on and upon taking it to the dealer to have them look into I noticed that the fuel gauge and the dte were reading improperly. I had just filled the tank full and the gauge was reading empty and the dte had all -------. The dealer stated that the fuel sending unit needed to be replaced. Upon further searching have noticed that there has been many complaints to the same issue with this vehicle.
My fuel tank was about 1/2 full and noticed that my dte read ---- from that point on it either reads 0 or ---. At times it even fluctuates the miles left on the dte. A few weeks later the ses light came on and now remains on. Ugh. My care only has 60k miles on it. I own a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder.
My wife [xxx] purchased our Nissan Pathfinder 2006, her father [xxx] cosigned for her. We had a 36,000 mile warranty on this vehicle. At 40k the fuel gauge stopped working in late 2008, I took it back to benson Nissan in easley SC where we purchased the vehicle from new, they told us that it was the fuel sensor inside the tank and would cost us $700 to fix, and would not take care of it, as the warranty had expired and there was no recall on it. I talked to the consumer affairs dept at Nissan and they said they could do nothing to fix the problem. When I heard that there was a recall on this, I quickly called them again several weeks ago, after giving my VIN # to them they got back with me and told me that the recall did not cover my vehicle!. . . I argued to no avail. . . . I have ran out of gas numerous times on the highway, and I keep the milage written down over my visor to try and keep up with it. Sometimes it will show I have gas when I don't, and it has become to dangerous for my wife to drive it so I am forced to drive it all the time. It is a concern and an inconvienience. I hope that you can do something. There are so many complaints about this on the internet that I am shocked Nissan is not recalling these vehicles back to 2005 at least. . . . . . . Thanks for any help that you can give. . . . . . . Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Fuel sensor gauge not working, incorrect readings will show empty when tank is full. 2006 Pathfinder, this is a problem that Nissan has had for years and have not corrected the problem. Their should be a recall.
