I request that the dot NHTSA investigate manufacturer defects in 2007 Nissan Pathfinders cooling system and transmission as unexpected failure relates to driver safety. My 2007 Pathfinder with 90,000 miles caused a major collision with a deer as the transmission began to fail. Driving home, at around 40mph, up a hill (engine under load @ 2,200-2,500 rpm) the whole car began suddenly to "shudder"- similar to the feeling/ sound of riding over highway rumble strips. This resulted in a loss of control over the speed of the vehicle and a noticeable distraction leaving me unprepared as a large buck ran out from the tree line attempting to cross the road- the buck did not make it across. As I have found in my research afterwards, there is a widely known manufacturer defect in which engine coolant mixes with transmission fluid. The resulting "goop" shreds the internal parts of the transmission rendering it (along with the radiator and components) completely useless. These vehicles are unsafe for the roadways as this problem occurs suddenly and unexpectedly without warning. I consider myself lucky for being alive- now, but since Nissan nor any other organization is willing to recall or replace this vehicle/ affected parts, I am stuck, forced to drive on the road being a hazard to others and myself.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed and was not providing the correct fuel level readings. The service engine light was also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the failure was located at the fuel sending unit. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer took a complaint from the contact and denied any assistance with the repair. The failure mileage was 74,000 and current mileage was 74,250.
The engine light of my 2007 Nissan Pathfinder came on and also the fuel gauge on the panel stopped working.
The check engine light stays on the car. Also, the fuel delivery system has become a significant hazard in the car. The Pathfinder's gasoline gauge indicates that it is half full, but suddenly the yellow light comes on to indicate the car is empty. This is a significant hazard while on the highway and there are times where a gas station may not be easily accessible.
The service engine light stays on and fuel gauge marks empty after I fill up vehicle with gas. 2007 Nissan Pathfinder.
2007 nissaan Pathfinder. Fuel gauge inaccuracy and "service engine light" remains on. Dealers quoted us $500 problem not fixed.
My 2007 Pathfinder has service engine soon light on from a failure with the fuel sending unit. . Read more...
2007 Nissan Pathfinder 68,000 miles fuel gauge reads empty when full and it only works periodically. The car ran out of gas with my wife the other night because of it. Has not been fixed yet. Seems as if we are not the only ones who are having this problem.
Fuel gauge does not operate normally, with the risk of running out of fuel in the middle of the highway.
2007 Nissan Pathfinder, less than 45,000 - service engine soon light came on. It appears to be a faulty fuel sensor, which many owners of 2007 Pathfinder have complained about. Nissan has not issued recall for faulty sensor on car that is 3 years old. Estimated cost to fix Nissan's defective part is $500 - $600.
Fuel sensor.
The fuel sending unit will give false readings or no reading at all. This results in the vehicle running out of gas in traffic. The digital display will not read distance to empty.
When you fuel up the fuel gauge drops to empty. It will later go to full put the engine service light comes on. To get the light to go off you have to have someone clear the code or disconnect the battery cable. I found a large number of people who have had the same problems with their Nissan vehicles.
Fuel gauge problem was advised by Nissan that fuel gauge problem recall is only for 2006 and 2008 vehicles. ????.
The fuel gauge stopped reading correctly. After filling up the vehicle, the gauge reads empty. After driving for awhile, the fuel gauge may begin to register again, but not always. We have chosen not to repair yet due to cost.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact went to start the vehicle and discovered that the check engine warning light was illuminated and the fuel level gauge was inaccurately displaying an empty reading. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the fuel indicator sending unit would need replacing. The vehicle was repaired. The failure did not recur. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 32,000 and the current mileage was 35,400.
Fuel gauge level sending unit.
2007 Nissan Pathfinder has the same problem as the 2006 and 2008 Pathfinder NHTSA campaign number: 10v-075 we had to replace this and wonder why 2007 model year is not included since the same issue is occurring.
Fuel gauge/ destination until empty total/ check engine soon light.
About 6 months ago I was driving down a major interstate and suddenly my truck cut off. Luckily I was already in the far right lane which allowed me to merge onto the shoulder before stopping completely. When the truck cut off, the power steering also went out making it very difficult to steer the truck out of the road. Being that this portion of the intersection was under construction, my truck was not able to clear the adjacent lane with on coming traffic. Traffic backed up until someone jumped out of their car to help push the truck further onto the shoulder. I later found out that the truck ran out of gas and the fuel level indicator stop working on my car. I had no way of knowing when my car was low on fuel other than to keep a running tab on how many miles I have driven since the last fill up of fuel. The same exact thing happen to my wife while driving down a major road. (she has the 2006 Pathfinder and mine is the 2007 Pathfinder) she suddenly lost her power steering and could not pull over into a near by gas station almost causing a few cars to crash into her truck. After taking my truck to the dealer to determine the problem, their reply was that the problem could not be repaired under the warranty and to repair the problem would cost me a substantial amount of money. They were well aware of the problem due to many of their trucks having the exact same problem. Our local mechanic called the dealer also to inquire about the issue and was told that it is very common for all of the Nissan Pathfinders to have this issue at approximately 30k miles. He stated that they have been repairing them very often. Both me and my wife fear that we could get into a serious accident or cause a serious accident due to this manufacturer flaw. We both feel that a manufacturer recall is in order and that Nissan corp is putting it's buyers in danger by refusing to have this repaired by the dealer free of charge to the buyer. We do not plan to ever purchase another Nissan.
At approx 56,000 miles the gas gauge on my 2007 Nissan Pathfinder quit working and the check engine light came on . It is a sensor in the fuel system I was told. This could cause the vehicle to run out of fuel in traffic which could result in an accident.
Problem with 2007 Nissan Pathfinder: fuel gauge went haywire and check engine light comes on.
Fuel gauge reads zero most of the time, even after fill up. Distance to empty reads ---. I hear it is a fairly common problem.
I live in oklahoma and drive dirt roads daily. I purchased a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder in 2007 and have two canisters replaced. I was not told when I purchased the car that it should not be driven on dirt roads because the canister clogs. I was told by the dealer this is a design defect. My concern: I have 82,000 miles on the car, my extended warranty runs out at 100,000 miles. I will drive dirt roads for the rest of my life, I want some sort of guarantee that the next time this canister fails (which causes the service engine light to come on), that the cost of repair will not be on me. I don't feel this is fair. It seems to be an ongoing problem. Is there actually a design flaw and can I have some sort of guarantee that Nissan will stand behind this. I don't think it would be fair to sell the car and pass this problem onto them. It is very costly to repair. Updated ivoq 10/04/10.
Nissan Pathfinder has a problem with the fuel gauge unit giving inaccurate readings due to the fuel sending unit needing to be replaced. The check engine light also illuminated. The consumer felt the possibility of running out of gas on a major highway was a safety issue.
