1 Seat Belt problem of the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/22/2025

There seems to be an issue with the seatbelt sensors; we have noticed that when operators and passengers buckle-in before starting-up the vehicle, once the vehicle is started it does not register that seatbelts are on/in use and the dashboard displays the dashboard seatbelt warning light, requiring the occupants to remove and re-engage their seatbelts a couple times till the sensors register properly . Another concern we have observed is that at times we will be driving through short distances, then suddenly it will feel forced as one puts the foot on the gas, while on drive (d), and it will not go smoothly as it should (almost as if it became stuck on a different gear?). We have had to safely pull-over, then turn the vehicle off and back on for the issue to self-correct. Year: 2025 manufacturer: Nissan model: Pathfinder.

2 Seat Belt problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/20/2025

The seatbelt system, including the computerized imaging alerts on the dashboard, seatbelt warning tone notification, and possibly the seat sensors of the vehicle have been failing and continue to malfunction. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This malfunction alerts and states that passengers are not buckled in the backseats when nobody is in the vehicle but the driver. This malfunction also alerts and states that passengers are not buckled in the backseats when they are this malfunction occurs randomly while driving the vehicle. It was initially brought in for this concern the first week of August 2025 and the local Nissan service techs replaced the seatbelts in 2 of the back seats. Unfortunately, this did not resolve this issue and has been documented with video evidence on multiple occasions. My children are frequent passengers in the backseats of this vehicle and I have safety concerns that should an accident occur, the seatbelts malfunction and are not actually keeping my children safe as expected with a seatbelt. The most recent visit to Nissan services for this problem was on 08/18/2025 to 08/20/2025 where the techs stated the problem could not be reproduced and that all I can continue to do is keep driving the vehicle and take videos of the incidents. Using a phone while driving sounds like a safety concern to me, as well. The vehicle has only been seen, with multiple appointments, at the local halliday Nissan service department. Prior to the original problem the first week of August 2025, these issues first appeared around the end of June, early July 2025. There are warning lamps, signals, and notification noises associated with this issue. I have video documentation, service documentation, recordings, text messages, voicemails as proof of documentation.

Failure Date: 01/15/2025

The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the seat belt alert system failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that even though all the occupants in the vehicle were wearing their seat belts, the system indicated that the seat belts were not in use, causing an audible warning chime to sound throughout the driving trip. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was purchased; dimmitt Chevrolet (25485 us hwy 19 n, clearwater, FL 33763), and the contact was informed that the repair would not be covered under the warranty purchased by the contact through the dealer and was provided an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer; crown Nissan (5151 34th st n, st. Petersburg, FL 33714); where a diagnostic test was performed on the vehicle, and it was believed that the failure might have started after removing the third-row seat. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,400.

6 Seat Belt problem of the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/04/2024

The driver's seat belt chime randomly goes off even when the seat belt is buckled. This has happened more than 15 times already. Every time I take it to the car dealer, they inspect it and cannot find what is wrong with it because it is not happening at the moment of my arrival. Today it started to chime at me again, and I decided to bring the car to the dealer without turning it off so that the code, if any, would be available. They checked it again and drove it around, but it did not go off, so there was nothing they could do to fix the problem. However, the problem is still happening, and I have shown them videos I captured with my cell phone when it happens to prove that it is not just me saying so. I don't know what else to do to get this fixed because they tell me that if there is no code or part broken they cannot replace it.

Failure Date: 08/03/2022

I get regular maintenance on my car and have owned it for numerous years. I was driving on a major highway & with no warning the car shut off and locked up. The power steering was completely gone. If it hadn't been for going down hill I probably would of gotten hit as I tried to get off the road. My seat belt locked in place and I had to climb out of the seat belt to get out of the vehicle. The doors were also locked and had an issue opening them at first in 91degree heat it was a very scary experience.

10 Seat Belt problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/30/2021

Looking at the dashboard seatbelt display. I regularly have 5 occupants in the car. The display shows red x’s across the seats, indicating there are no bucked passengers in the vehicle. The visible display may only show the driver is in their seat intermittently buckled by showing a green light. If safety systems are tied to this display, I fear being in an accident. Please look into this system. This after 6 recalls so far.

16 Seat Belt problem of the 2011 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/02/2018

My airbag light and seatbelt light are on and the horn has stopped working. Frame and front suspension is making a horrible creaking sound and has been for months. Frame seems to be rotted … I’ve taken it to multiple places to have it looked at…. I’ve also seen other complaints on here of people having the same issue! this poses a huge safety risk! definitely needs a recall for both issues!.

17 Seat Belt problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/25/2018

My airbag didnt not deploy until my truck stop moving. And my seat belt did not lock me in place. I was slung around my front seat. I had to try to hold myself in my seat with my legs (pushing up on my steering wheel) I hit my head on my steering wheel, my window and my roof. I have a cracked femur from my steering wheel. And 2 compressed disks in my back. . When I realized my truck wasnt turning into the curve I hit my brakes but it didnt do anything bc my tires came off the ground and when it stopped I was on the creek bank.

18 Seat Belt problem of the 2004 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 12/15/2017

Takata recall for airbags on 2004 Nissan Pathfinder. I purchased my vehicle in November of 2017 and was not advised of the recall issued may 14, 2015 at time of purchase. In December of 2017 I was waiting to pull out onto long pond rd and as I started to pull out my airbags deployed causing me to swerve and slam my driver tail light side into a mound causing tail light to bust and dent in side panel at tail light. I have contacted Nissan dealership and no one will return my calls or assist me in this matter. All I want is my air bags replaced and the tail light fixed. There was no impact to set the air bags off as I was clearly stopped and had just pulled onto street. I feel that because of my young age no one wants to take this seriously. I was 20 when this happened and it is my first vehicle purchase ever.

19 Seat Belt problem of the 2004 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

Vehicle light for air back going on in the seatbelt doesn't work well.

20 Seat Belt problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/25/2016

I've been trying to get local Nissan dealer to address several recalls on my vehicle since June 2016. I was told by my local and surrounding Nissan dealerships that they do not have the parts and do not know when Nissan would ship the parts to local dealership for the recall. I've called local Nissan every month since June 2016 to ask if the parts are in but to no avail.

21 Seat Belt problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/05/2016

While the vehicle was in motion on a highway (39, beach blvd in buena park, CA. ) proceeding straight down the road the third row left seat belt anchor became unattached from the seat/vehicle frame while in use by an adult that was occupying the left side of the third row seat. The anchor of the belt where the belt buckle latches into came completely loose from the car, endangering the adult occupant. There did not appear to be any break but likely defect as there were no broken, cracked or damaged parts visibly seen. Nissan u. S. A. Was contacted regarding the situation and they were not able to communicate with us due to the individual being unfamiliar with the english language enough to comprehend normal and relevant conversation and details about their product. A call back to the same number provided by Nissan u. S. A. Encountered the same difficulty and an overall disregard of the problem. Our local dealership instructed us that since there was no recall, we would have to pay for repairs out of pocket. Our third row is only utilized rarely when we have more than 4 occupants, and has only been used 3 times. No abuse of the buckle by any individual has occurred. The passenger in this case could have been ejected fatally in a collision.

22 Seat Belt problem of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/30/2016

I purchased the vehicle in July, 2015. The passenger side airbag light came on several times while a passenger was in the front seat shortly after I got the car. During my first routine service appointment on Feb. 1, 2016 I mentioned it to the service tech and they checked but couldn't replicate the problem. However, they performed a zero reset at that time. The airbag light came on again on 3/11, 4/9, and 4/30 while a passenger of proper weight and height was seating in the seat. Additionally, on 4/20 the seat belt indicator light was lit in the instrument panel even though there was no passenger in the car and the driver was buckled up. I took it back to the service station today, 5/7, for these problems. They stated that there are no open recalls on my vehicle and they couldn't duplicate the problem. This is now the second time my car has been in for service for the same problem and nothing was found to be wrong. I now drive with my cellphone next to me and take pictures every time this occurs.

24 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/06/2015

The seat belts do not retract back in. They do not pull out when trying to latch on. The front seats are fine they are all the back seat seat belts. There has not been any accidents yet but the seat belts in the back seats may be a problem if there is an accident.

25 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

The car has been through all the recalls that were recommended till date. Front passenger seat seatbelt warning not working even when a person(200 lb) person was sitting on it. The person forgot to wear the seatbelt. But no warning was provided for seatbelt. The passenger airbag light showed it was off too.

26 Seat Belt problem of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/15/2014

The passenger side "airbag check" and seat belt warning light is on on my vehicle several months ago. They are on whenever the engine is on, whether there is a passenger on that seat or not. My car failed to pass inspection because of it. I noticed from the nhtas website that certain Nissan Pathfinder sold in massachusetts in 2008 are included in the takata airbag recall. However, my car is not yet included in the recalling list. By the way, this vehicle has never been involved in any collision or other accident. Thank you so much for your attention to this matter.

28 Seat Belt problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/10/2014

A) at 9+ miles shifter mechanism not recognizing I was in drive mode or started with I-key error, graduated to obd code p0850 over the next few miles. I was told the fob needed to be programmed. Cruise control not working, turned out the shifter mechanism was at fault - does not recognize vehicle is in drive more or parked or neutral. B) passenger side air bag indicator not working noticed at approx. 120 miles. Was instructed the seat needed calibration. Seat calibrated. C) told the airbag: was told the issue was possibly the weight of the passenger, how the passenger sat in the seat etc. Later told the dtc code needed to be cleared. 3 hrs later was told the air bag control module needs to be replaced. D) passenger side airbag still not working at approx. 2500 miles. Intermittent after the airbag control module is replaced. E) airbag control module replaced - airbag indicator still not working correctly, Nissan consumer affairs told me the car is not going to be recalled. I should get the vehicle fixed at a dealer. Still Nissan does not think there is any major issue with the vehicle and it is not a lemon and should not be replaced. F) read all documents related to the recall notice on NHTSA's website. None of the documents mention the passenger side seat belt indicator (audio or visual indicator). Issue is when the passenger occupancy module fails, I believe the seat belt indicator is also not working correctly either. I wrote to Nissan consumer affairs they do not seem to care, NHTSA ms. Schuler instructed me to file a complaint. I just want Nissan to acknowledge and fix the seat belt issue along with the airbag so consumers are safe. I am not sure if the shifter is related or not but it is odd several electronic components failed. Dealer wants to replace all sensors, I do not think it will fix it. Nissan insists my vehicle is not involved in any campaign.

29 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/24/2013

We noticed early after purchase of our 2013 Nissan Pathfinder that the passenger side air bag disable light would come on whether or not there was someone sitting in that seat. Brought to dealership and not much help. Reprogram and the same issue appeared in just a few days. Months later Nissan issued a recall for programming. This still did not change the problem. Dealership replaced the entire seat at no cost to myself. Light still comes on when someone is sitting in seat at random times or no one is the seat. Someone is going to get hurt without the airbag deploying correctly. And how do we know it is actually going to work?.

30 Seat Belt problem of the 2011 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/06/2013

I have taken my 2011 Nissan Pathfinder to the dealer over the past 4 month’s because of brake issues. Was given the run around but finally resolved the main issue. However, now I noticed that my seat belts never lock when riding in the car. I feel this is a major safety issue that needs to be looked into. While riding in the car you can always lean forward even if the car is stopped especially when the brake is engaged, there is never any tension in the seatbelt like my other cars. Pleas have someone look into this!.

31 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/23/2013

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag indicator light illuminated intermittently while an adult was is in the seat. The contact received recall notification related to NHTSA campaign id number 14v138000 (air bags, electrical system). The vehicle was taken to dealer who could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 21,800.

32 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/05/2013

I have been having ongoing issues with my Pathfinder since purchase with the passenger airbag not functioning properly. Initially it would not detect anybody was in the passenger seat and the dealer try to reset the sensor several times with no success. Now all airbag warning lights are on and per the owners manual the vehicle should not be driven. I was told in Jan parts were ordered to fix this issue and they are still not in. Needless to say I am very very upset and will be looking into legal actions.

33 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/14/2013

2013 Pathfinder; noticed a few days after purchase that the passenger seatbelt light would always stay on. Took it to the dealer and they looked it over for an hour or so and could not figure it out. When I got home, I connected the passenger seatbelt (with an empty seat) and it went out. Took it back and they corrected the problem stating that it was a "loose seatbelt connection" issue. Now I am very concerned that the underlying problem may be a bad airbag sensor and that the mechanic simply may have disconnected or reset the warning light to resolve the problem. I have not yet experienced the other major issues other owners have reported, but I expect these gremlins to start surfacing at any time. I hate to say this, but my wife's built in japan prius is wonderful, anything american assembled or built not so wonderful in my experience.

34 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/13/2013

The airbag and vehicle occupancy sensor failure. The passenger side seat belt sign would remain on despite an empty passenger seat. The light has remained on since the 1st day of purchase. The vehicle has been in service department for 10 days without complete resolution. Nissan USA has been contacted as well.

35 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/02/2013

My Pathfinder has been at the dealership 4 times to correct the NHTSA recall 14v-138 this problem has not been resolved in spite of two recalls. When sitting in the passenger seat (an adult weighing 140lbs) the off indicator still is activated indicating that the air bag is shut off. I can remain off for over an hour while driving. I feel that this is a safety issue inspite of being told by the service department that the air bag will deploy even if it is off. This makes me more worried because what if there was a person too light and it should be off?????.
