1 Wheel problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/14/2026

I was driving the vehicle and it just stopped on the highway, no warning no kickback no precursor that something was wrong with the vehicle, and it stopped, the warning sign: not available system malfunction came on and then the entire electrical system shut down. I had to have the car towed home because it would not start. I went to the dealer on several attempts and no help was rendered. I was told to either come back or there are too many cars, just really getting the run around for a matter that is fatal. I was driving with my family in the car and it just stopped. I almost had an accident, it could have been fatal. This is unacceptable.

2 Wheel problem of the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/09/2026

I am writing to formally report a serious and ongoing safety concern regarding my Nissan Pathfinder. During the initial test drive, conducted on a particularly windy day, I noticed sharp and sudden pulling to both the left and right while traveling at freeway speeds. At the time, I attributed much of this instability to the wind conditions and proceeded with the purchase. However, since taking ownership of the vehicle, the problem has persisted under normal driving conditions. While traveling on the freeway, the vehicle will unpredictably and forcefully pull to either side without warning. This repeated and erratic movement creates a legitimate fear that the vehicle could sideswipe another car, resulting in a serious accident. This is not a minor steering issue — it is a dangerous driving condition that compromises the safety of myself, my passengers, and other motorists. I reported this unsafe driving behavior to the service department at kendall Nissan. The service manager acknowledged that similar complaints have been reported on several other vehicles they have serviced and attributed the issue to the tires. My vehicle is equipped with bridgestone alenza sport as 255/50r20 105h tires. In an effort to confirm or eliminate the tires as the cause, I requested that they be replaced. That request was denied, and I was directed to contact Nissan customer care. I contacted Nissan customer care on two separate occasions seeking resolution. My initial complaint was dismissed. After clearly stating that we felt highly unsafe operating the vehicle, I was informed that a buyback request would be submitted. Later, I was contacted and told the buyback request had been denied. Instead, I was offered reimbursement equivalent to one monthly payment — an offer that does not address or correct the underlying safety defect. Given that the dealership has acknowledged similar incidents with multiple vehicles, this appears to be a broader and potentially significant safety issue t.

3 Wheel problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/30/2025

Hello, my name is [xxx] . I need your help!! I bought a 2024 Nissan Pathfinder from carvana for $41,000. 00 at the end of November 2025 I reported some minor damage at the time we picked up the vehicle at caravan [xxx] . Never heard back. I've only owned this car for 4 months and now the brakes have been screaming and my dashboard is lit up like a christmas tree!!! all the tires are bald and the air conditioner does not work!!. Ughhh. I was on the phone with carvana this morning for almost 2 hours. . And ultimately there nothing they can do for me. One the 7 days of course is over the 100 day coverage is gone. I purchased xtra coverage but of course that doesn't cover anything that is wrong with the car. . . The car has been towed to a shop. . Waiting to hear what the bill is gonna be yikesss!! help!!! I feel I have been sold a lemon!! I'm not asking for anything just to repair this vehicle as it should have been before I bought. Selling a vehicle that is less than 2 years old in this condition is not good business practices. This is not right. Hope you can help sincerely, [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

4 Wheel problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/15/2025

For the past couple of months we noticed the car is swaying to one side when it accelerates. We took the car for an alignment and the problem persists. The car is now swaying aggressively to one side when driving at higher speeds. This occurs while driving in the highways. We have to be extra cautious because it can hit another car driving in the next lane. We took the car to the weston autonation dealer repairs and they informed the car needs to repair tie rods and control arms. The car has never been in an accident. The car has less than 35,000 miles.

6 Wheel problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/12/2024

The rear breaks wore off really fast at around 10,000 miles as well as all the tires. It was inspected and the mechanic said that it’s normal for the breaks in these cars to wear off quickly. I never recieved any warning lamps about the breaks needing to be changed.

7 Wheel problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/06/2024

At 24,000 miles my rear brakes already needs replacing but the front brakes pads are in great condition. All the tires on the outside almost smooth. The rest of the tires inside and center have plenty treads.

8 Wheel problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 12/28/2023

I have tried working with the dealer and Nissan on this issue, with no success. I don't know where else to turn because searching forums there are hundreds of posts from other Pathfinder owners reporting the same defects in their vehicles. I filed a complaint with Nissan consumer affairs and they insist my issue is simply wear and tear of the vehicle, which is not acceptable. My 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, as well as hundreds others report that their vehicle are requiring new brakes as well as new tires within 20,000 miles of purchasing the vehicle brand new. When my dealer notified me of the issue I questioned them, to which they also recognized it wasn't right and something has been wrong since the re-design of this vehicle. They also said they can't do anything except recommend replacement, it has to be up to Nissan to acknowledge they have something faulty in the design or mechanics that is causing these components to go bad well below manufacturer specs. When contacting Nissan consumer affairs I attempted to explain to them that this wasn't normal, these systems should not be replaced within 20,000 miles of a new purchase. They however discounted me and said it was simple wear and tear, that's how it is. I find it hard to believe myself and hundreds of others who have purchased these vehicles should have to pay for these replacements when it's clearly a design or mechanical flaw from Nissan. I know this may not be the right department to go to, but I'm not sure where else to turn for help in getting Nissan to publicly acknowledge this.

10 Wheel problem of the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/27/2023

Nissan uses bi-metal lug nuts, as does a number of other manufacturers, including Jeep. For Nissan, these are a steel lug nut covered with a shiny metal, likely chrome. Over time, there apparently has been corrosion, either galvanic or because the thermal cycling the wheel experiences allow moisture to get between the two metals and rust occurs. The end result is the lug nut swells and the manufacturer provided lug wrench no longer fits, preventing the owner from changing a flat tire. While not a major saftety issue, it does increase the risk of an owner being injured as they attempt to force the lug wrench onto the lug nut. The owner is also at a slightly elevated risk as they repeatedly attempt to remove the tire on the side of the road, increasing the time exposed to traffic. Even roadside assistance likely does not have the specialty tool (21. 5mm or 22. 5mm socket) needed to remove the tire. These bimetal lug nuts should be banned.

12 Wheel problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/01/2022

I was driving down a newly built road at 48 mph and all of a sudden it sounded like something was coming apart at the front right end of my vehicle. Everything sloped that way and then I was jerked to the right straight into a curb and then I hear a big boom. My psi went to 0 in my right front tire and I tried to steer left but I couldn't. My back end went into the air about 2-3 feet. I finally came to a stop on the side of the road about . 3 miles from where the issue started. I was lucky I did not veer into traffic because I could not control my vehicle. After gathering myself and calling the police I got out of my vehicle to find that my front right wheel assembly fell apart. The officer and I searched thoroughly to find that I did not hit anything. The bolt was missing from one of my control arms. My wheel was turned sideways going east and west instead of north and south. I had the vehicle towed to a Nissan dealer and it has been a nightmare. The tech that is not certified or does not have the devices to make the call if it was a technical failure says that he has been told by the regional corp rep to let him no if he can locate a part that seems to be the issue. The dealer tech couldn't see anything so the regional corp tech will not come and take a look at my vehicle. My insurance has deemed it a mechanical failure and they are waiting for the results of Nissans diagnostic test which is not happening because the regional rep won't come and take a look at the car. There is no body damage except for where the front right wheel was pushed into the front right quarter panel.

13 Wheel problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/27/2022

My vehicle has a cvt transmission problem, it would shake when driving the car, when I made turns or went down hills. On the interstate it shook so bad a had to pull over. I got stuck in the parking a lot one day, the gears were stuck. I tried to go in reverse and the vehicle was moving forward. Then I tried to put the car back into park and try to put it in drive it was still stuck. So I cut my vehicle off and cut it back on just to move. My vehicle would stall out in traffic, there would be no acceleration of the vehicle and the vehicle would jerk, shudder and pull. It felt like its going to cut off. The shaking of the vehicle terrified me the most because it felt like my tires would fly off on the interstate or any road I was driving on.

14 Wheel problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 12/01/2021

Driver's side tps failed and did not hold air causing tire to deflate to 13 pounds of pressure making steering and braking difficult. Car was purchased new in September 2021 with 12 miles. Purchased from dealer with wheels powder coated. Since new up to 3700 miles there was zero issues until the tire kept losing pressure. The dealer I took it to claims they will not cover it because the wheels are powder coated and that caused the malfunction. This is ridiculous and having a failed tps and low tire pressure, the dealer sansone Nissan told me to drive it to the dealer I purchased it from because he did not want to cover it.

15 Wheel problem of the 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

17 Wheel problem of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/17/2019

Lugnuts completely fell off, stem broke, and wheel flew up into wheel well causing a potentially dangerous accident at 60 mph on a major interstate with no pull off due to not being able to move car and major damage to car. Second time in car history has had lugnuts fall off and break stems.

18 Wheel problem of the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/03/2019

I was driving on the highway when my car started vibrating (much like the feeling of when a car needs to get the wheels aligned). I got off of the highway to take it to a nearby Nissan dealership service parts shop to have it looked at. About a block away from the dealership, when I was driving, my front right wheel flew off of my vehicle. My car was then lying on the end of the axle and was not drivable and stuck in the road. I was at the very left side of the street and luckily the wheel did not hit another vehicle or person and cause any injuries. This Pathfinder is a 2016 and I have had it for 2 years. It has 17,000 miles on it and I have not had any issues with the car since I have had it until now. I have not needed to have the tires rotated yet because the tread on the tires look good and not worn down. I have not needed to have the wheels aligned either. So, the tires have never been taken off of this vehicle. Nissan claims that they think this issue is related to loose lug nuts. I claim that this issue did not start until I was on the highway halfway home. I claim that this issue was from defective lug nuts. Just 2 years before, in 2014, there was a recall Nissan had related to lug nuts for Pathfinders and that was resolved, however, it is reasonable to think that this could be another potential recall issue. My advice for any one having a 2016 Pathfinder is to check and make sure their lug nuts are not defective. I have much more details regarding this issue that I can provide that supports my case. I fear that if this happens to someone else, there is a strong chance this could end up causing a crash and/or getting other people killed. The past recall in 05/02/2014 that I mentioned is recall number 14v229000, component: wheels:lugs/nuts/bolts. Also, I contacted Nissan consumer affairs and they were not helpful.

19 Wheel problem of the 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/03/2019

There is an excessive amount of rust on the vehicle including the wheel well, door jams, floor board, and frame. I was almost unable to receive a replacement windshield because the frame is rusting out. I purchased the vehicle in the north then moved south and the problem has grown worse. The compartment that is holding the spare tire under the vehicle is rusting out as well. This could potentially become a safety problem if the spare tire separates from its supports while operating on a roadway. Rust has been an ongoing problem with this vehicle with no specific start date nor end date.

20 Wheel problem of the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/29/2018

Steering wheel got stuck and caused an accident.

21 Wheel problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

The battery would not stay locked in place and this seemed to impact the mileage starting over and did not keep accurate amount of gas in vehicle. My transmission was going out; felt as if something was being dragged while driving. I have had to purchase tires twice since buying the vehicle even with getting rotations every other oil change.

22 Wheel problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/06/2017

Transmission had a recall they change it replace it then the car started making weird noises they said it was the wheel bearings & the deferential that the dealership mechanic broke or left loose.

23 Wheel problem of the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/21/2017

While driving our 2016 Nissan Pathfinder vehicle, we felt a sudden vibration and then the next thing we knew, the right front wheel (tire and rim) fell off the car. The vehicle came down on what remained of the right front wheel assembly. I managed to keep the vehicle on the road until we had bled off enough speed to then coast to a complete stop on the right shoulder of the road. The wheel that came off continued through an open field and collided with a private property fence, damaging the fence in the process. There were a total of 6 of us in the vehicle and thankfully, everyone was wearing their seat belts. Once I confirmed that there were no injuries, I contacted a nearby towing company which then towed the vehicle to the dealership from which we purchased the vehicle. The vehicle has not had any work done that involves the tires since it was purchased. There have been no accidents and no damage has been done to the wheels or the vehicle as a whole since the time of purchase which was August of 2016. We have dropped off the vehicle with the local Nissan dealership from where we purchased it and as of this report, are waiting to hear back from the company as to how they plan to address this problem. Damage to the vehicle as a result of this mishap is not fully known at this point. At a minimum, the fender and fender well, entire wheel assembly, right front suspension, brake system, right front tire all appear to have sustained damage. It is unknown if there has been any compromise to the drive train or frame/chassis components as a result of this incident. This has caused us great concern given that this could have resulted in a loss of life or serious injury depending on the location and type of road that it may have occurred on. We were fortunate that the incident occurred on a straight and level portion of the road with very little traffic in the vicinity.

24 Wheel problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/03/2016

Brakes are prematurely worn and makes noise. At times the vehicle shudders unexpectedly which leads to pulling off the road to inspect the vehicle.

25 Wheel problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

While traveling on rt 75 in florida the left rear tire blew out without any warning. I thought I hit something big in the road as there was a loud noise & the car acted as if it were wounded. I changed the tire myself as the service people we called weren't able to locate us with the limited information we had. I discovered a 3 inch square part of the sidewall still attached to the tire. We checked the tire pressures before we started out on our trip from laurel, delaware. The car has sensors on the tires & gives a warning if the tire pressure is low. We purchased the car new (leftover) with about 8 miles on the odometer. I understand they inflate the tires with nitrogen if that has any bearing on what happened. We had the tire fixed at a Nissan dealer in fort myers. I took many pictures of the tire that blew-out before I had them replace it.

27 Wheel problem of the 2000 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 12/22/2015

I heard a rubbing sound and the passenger side front brake was acting unusual so I took my truck to my mechanic assuming it needed brakes. When the driver front wheel was taken off it was ovious that my brake pad was fine. It was noted that my tires were wearing unevenly and it was also very very ovious that the entire wheel wheel area was corroded, rusted and missing. There was a extremely large hole being the wheel area. Looking further it was noted that the steering column was rubbing against a part of the engine area. That explains the rubbing sound and diffuculty turning the wheel. It was also noted that the suspension was rotted and that the engine measured around 2 inches lower as it was leaning on the drivers side. I was told by my mechanic that the damage was so extensive that it could not be repaired. There wasn't any metal available under the truck to even weld any reinforcement to. The truck was unsafe to drive and to take it to Nissan. We never went any further with an inspection of the passenger side ect. I did take it to Nissan in the afternoon and was called the following morning and told my truck was fixed. I was told they replaced the strut on the drivers side and put some fiberglass underneath the truck. They did say that it passed their 100 and something point safety check. They never addressed anything else. I have been without transportation for a week now.

29 Wheel problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/15/2015

My new 2013 Pathfinder came with the tire toyo proxes a20. This option is not available on the drop-down selections. Excessive tire wear on toyo proxes a20 tires. . At 23,000 miles tires are in need of replacing. ( I only use this vechile to take my son to school and around town, I am under 1,000 miles a month) I have expressed my concern with Nissan abeloff dealership, Nissan consumer affair and toyo the tire company. I had a case opened with Nissan conumer which they told me that the dealership would have to measure the tire depth and then they could help me with replacement cost. (of course this was all verbal on the phone). Unfortunately the dealership had a different reading vs my readings. Luckily I kept my multi inspection paperworks as backup and told them that there gadget is broken beacause it kinda weird for theards to be like a roller coaster. My latest reading on the treads is 2/32 and 3/32 which a brand new gadget was used. After the dealership confirmed this corrected reading. They informed Nissan and now they come back to me, they can not do anything even though previous case they said they will be glad to help out. This is considered a safety hazard and I do not thing a tire should be weared out so early when others last from any where 40,000 to 50,000 miles. These toyo proxes a20 are defected and I searched online on and have found similar stories for this tire on the Nissan SUV's and other SUV brands. These tires need to be recalled as defected wear and tear before and accident happens and life's lost.

33 Wheel problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/09/2015

There is a violent shudder/judder that occurs during turns, uneven roads, up hills, slower speeds during traffic. Gears do not seem to change and operate smoothly. Judders into next gear losing power and control of the vehicle that scares everyone in the car. As consumers we all purchase new vehicles for reliability and safely. You stick to a brand you know and trust because of prior experiences or word of mouth referrals. Nissan has tried to give me a harder time fixing these issues by asking to replicate the issue or record while driving, which is also extremely dangerous and illegal. These issues are surprisingly are all over the internet, yet I have not seen a fix to date, ownership from the manufacture of the problem or recall. People's lives are at risk in these faulty auto's every day and yet nothing seems to be done. After having my second transmission installed, wheel barring replaced, rubber strips from roof replaced as well as driver visor I will soon file for a lemon claim. Please take my issues serious and help save people that could possibly lose their lives because of these faulty transmissions.

34 Wheel problem of the 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/08/2015

I purchased this vehicle used. We did not go over 40 on the the test drive. The next day once we approached 55 mph the rear of the vehicle began to violently wobble back and forth. We decided to research the issue and tons of complaints were cited about the same"death wobble" issue. We had done and alignment, rotated and balanced the tires and it helped slightly but the wobble is still there. It seems there is a problem with the rear bushings and /or control arms. From what I have read. Why has this not been recalled with the hundreds of complaints? we have not priced it out but seems to be a costly fix.

35 Wheel problem of the 2011 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/16/2014

The vehicle handles smoothly on a smooth surface, but when I hit a small bump in the road, the steering wheel shimmies giving you the feeling that you might lose control. Big bumps in the road at higher speeds (60-70 mph) are decidedly uncomfortable. I took the vehicle to a Nissan dealer and a very knowledgeable tecnician drove the vehicle with me but could find no structural problem. The dealer I purchased the vehicle from machine balanced and aligned the vehicle but the behavior of the vehicle remains the same. The maintenance manager went on line in the internet to search for any common complaints and concluded that what I feel and see is the result of the way the vehicle frame is made which causes the movement when you hit a bump or divot in the road. I have to hold onto the wheel when I hit a bump, as if I was flying a small airplane in rough weather. Surely a vehicle without accident, with 26,000 miles should not behave like that. Furthermore, I don't believe that a manufacturer could put a product on the road with a built in handling problem like that. Please tell me what to do. I am very unhappy with this one aspect of the vehicle. This 2011 Pathfinder meets my needs but the steering movement that takes place when I hit a little patch of rough road make me fare of losing control when it happens without a warning.
