37 Wheel problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

The tires wore very quickly on the back. I took the car to dealer where it was purchased. I only had the vehicle for 5-6 months when I first noticed how badly the tread had worn down. The front tires are worn very badly and I barely have 26000 miles. There is no reason the tires should have worn down this quickly. Within less than two years I will have had to replace all of the tires.

39 Wheel problem of the 2010 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/16/2013

I recently found out that the shock/strut assembly on my vehicle was faulty resulting in a major overhaul of the rear oe spectrum shock and front oe spectrum strut in the amount of $850. 00. This has caused my wheels to "cup" which is resulting in a need for a complete set of new tires.

40 Wheel problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

When I purchased my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder from a dealer in 2012. Vehicle was inspected and deemed safe to drive. I noticed my tire pressure sensor stayed on all the time. Even after filling to the recommended psi. Didn't think much of it. Went on to drive the vehicle with no issues until the next year when I would get this shaking and rumble at about 2500 rpm. Took it to a local mechanic and he couldn't find anything wrong except for needing new brake pads and engine tune up. Had that done but still my car continued to rumble when I would accelerate. It was intermittent on and off until it got so bad that I had to pull over and let my engine cool before it would do it again. Recently I took it to a different mechanic and had them look at it. She ran a test on the computer and the car gave codes that linked back to the transfer case. She then had it looked at by her transmission expert and he discovered coolant and fluid inside the transmission. Only then was it linked to all other occurrences that fall back on Nissan. I read online that there is a class action lawsuit against Nissan for failing radiators and transmissions. It was never brought to my attention when purchasing the vehicle even though this was during the height of the dispute. With it being out of date for any coverages under the lawsuit. I'm now left without a vehicle and a hefty $3,600 repair bill that should have never been there to begin with. I hope Nissan has a plan to fix this issue without the consumer paying out of pocket. If not I will be pursuing a case against the dealer for selling me a car that is unsafe to drive.

41 Wheel problem of the 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 05/05/2012

We were driving north bound on 395 about 30 miles south of ritzville, at 3:30 on Saturday, may 5th. Clear skies, clear road conditions. Sparse traffic, we were in the outer most lane. Kids were quietly watching dvd in backseat, wife and I were casually talking. No music on, no cellphones, no distractions. All of a sudden, we herd a thunk and the rear tires locked up. I immediately took my foot off the gas and dropped the clutch (manual transmission), however the car was unresponsive. Essentially it was as if I had slammed on the breaks. After a second of skidding, we started a slow spin to the left, crossing the 'fast' lane. We ended up doing a 360, then hit the shoulder and the car immediately rolled, finally landing driver side down. Something on the Pathfinder malfunctioned and caused this problem. I am hoping this is an isolated incident, but would like to report it in case this is a much bigger issue.

42 Wheel problem of the 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/02/2012

My car was part of a recal due to rust. 3 mechanics from Nissan deemed it unrepairable because the recall procedure. They said it was very unsafe to drive and it was supposed to be part of a buyback program. After waiting for 2 months they called me and told me my car was fixed. The dealer was very elusive when I asked him why they changed their mind, saying someone came and told them to just fix it from Nissan corporate. He would not confirm to me that it was not considered safe to drive. I took the car to an outside mechanic and was told it was absolutely not a proper fix.

43 Wheel problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/02/2011

Car began to make a knocking and "whoom, whoom" sound that got louder and louder. When I merged onto the highway (on my way to an unrelated Nissan service appt. ) all of a sudden it felt as though I had a flat tire. Then I lost control of the car. I lost the use of my brakes and could not stop the vehicle. I managed to pull the car over to the side of the highway (on the left in the grassy median) and my left front wheel flew off my car. I still could not stop the car as my brakes had become disengaged when the wheel came loose. Mercifully my rim digging into the dirt in the median finally caused the car to come to a stop. The entire front bumper was shoved back toward the back of the car and was damaged. The driver's side door was then damaged from the front bumper scraping against it when the door is opened and closed.

44 Wheel problem of the 2000 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/11/2011

The contact owns a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the front drivers side wheel detached due to failed bolts and the contact lost control of the vehicle. The was safely driven to the side of the road, where it was stopped. The contact also stated that the front drivers door would not unlock, so he had to exit through the front passenger door. The vehicle was then towed to an authorized dealer. The vehicle was included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 11v244000 (steering:column), but the dealer was yet to determine if the recall was related to the failure. The dealer was awaiting a representative from the manufacturer to examine the vehicle. The failure mileage was 180,000. Sm.

45 Wheel problem of the 1998 Nissan Pathfinder

46 Wheel problem of the 1997 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/11/2010

I moved to charleston SC in June of 2007 from richmond va. I began to hear a clicking sound whenever I would turn a corner or turn steering wheel to park or leave driveway about a year ago. Everytime I took vehicle in for oil change or maintenance, I would tell mechanic. It wasn't until may of 2011 someone actually checked front tires and axles and strut mounts. This is when I was informed of damage. I still have spent hundreds trying to repair numerous other problems because noone knew exactly what was wrong. I've had to pay for three front end alignments in two weeks because of this problem. Now I did not receive a recall letter until about 2 or 3 weeks ago and it does not list richmond va as one of the states, however, every year I lived in va we had lots of snow and salt was put down with sand. We also had flood gaston in August of 2005 so there were numerous state that experienced regular salt use in the winter. I would appreciate Nissan scheduling an appointment for inspection. 47 Wheel problem of the 1997 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/08/2010

Rust/corrosion in unibody at lower control arm/strut assembly on 97' Nissan Pathfinder passenger side. The problem/failure is equivalent in severity to the situation Nissan is recalling for the driver's side. (pe11004) also (NHTSA campaign id number: 11v244000). If the corrosion becomes severe enough, the stresses involved in the strut assembly operation loads, compounded by the lateral loads created by steering, and handling, may cause the lower control arm, lower ball joint/strut mount to separate from the unibody. This would invariably result in a loss of steering control, and quite probably, in a highway speed failure, throw the vehicle into a skid as the passenger side wheel stuffs itself into the wheel well area.

48 Wheel problem of the 2000 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/07/2010

I have had 2001 Nissan Pathfinder for 18months . My 18 yr old daughter complained of a problem with front drivers side wheel feeling very funny and abs light on. I took car to service stating and was told chassis was completely rotted away leaving shock to go up into motor and pulling away the abs cord. Nothing was on the bottom of car. You could see clearly into the motor from the wheel well. I immediately called Nissan consumer affairs as truck only has 62,000 miles and chassis should not have rotted off making it dangerous to drive. Service station said do not drive unless a chassis can be welded. Brought truck to siny Nissan srv. Center as directed by Nissan consumer affairs and Nissan themselves said do not drive this vehicle for safety. Ie wheel could lock up as frame pulled away and pulled abs and shock was going up toward motor as frame rotted away and nothing to hold shock. I reported findings to Nissan customer srv and they needed some time to research. I emailed Nissan pictures of the frame that no longer was there and they were in touch with Nissan in siny to see what the finding were. I had the car welded as Nissan does not do welding and sent the bill along with the pictures to nadia claims specialist file no 6834802. I was told that since vehicle was past warranty they were no longer responsible for repair. My daughter could have been killed on a highway as there was no frame to a vehicle with 62,000 miles on it. I was told by Nissan themselves not to drive as it was dangerous. Who would purchase a vehicle with 52000 miles for 6800 and after 10,000 pose a risk to theirselves or family members if they knew this could happen. Not only are they responsible for the repairs but I no longer want this vehicle. I should have been reimbursed as this was a manufacturers defect and the abs and shock repaired (which was not. Nissan and their group feels this is not warranted. I feel they are very responsible as does their own specialists in siny.

49 Wheel problem of the 1996 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/20/2009

The problem started about a month after we bought the vehicle back in 2009, at first it would only start to wobble at 60 mph so we took it in for inspection they told us it needed alignment so we had it done. It worked for a while but then it started all over again and now at just 30 mph so we took in again, this time they did tires and balancing but it is just getting worse. I feel like the steering wheel is loose when it starts to wobble and like my tires are going to fall off. I try not to drive that car so much any more specially when I have my granddaughters with me. I would really appreciate any feedback you may have concerning the problem I'm having with my 1996 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 thank you.

50 Wheel problem of the 1997 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/01/2007

(noticed problem end of 2007/ beginning 2008 and again in 2011) I have low mileage on Pathfinder and it is only driven on the freeway and in town. First noticed when driving speeds over 50 and during shifting on highway. Very sloppy steering control, Pathfinders rear swaying, skipping and jerking sometimes violently from side to side. Very dangerous driving conditions;very good chance of flipping over. Took to different auto mechanics and most could not figure out issue. It turned out that the problem was all defective - failed, broken, cracked, or /and worn bushings links both front and rear. I recently completely replaced the bushings and components and after 6500 miles they are broken/defective and the Pathfinder is unsafe to drive again. I researched the bushing issues with the 1996 -2001 Nissan Pathfinder and most all Pathfinders of this years are having this serious suspension-defective bushing issues. Their have been many unanswered consumer complaints. This should have been and is a definite recall issue. Protect the consumer. Report this. Please ck into this ASAP.

51 Wheel problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 12/24/2004

While driving below 25 mph, the consumer heard a loud knocking noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection twice. The mechanic was not able to duplicate the problem. A week later while driving approximately 25-30 mph, the consumer heard the same loud knocking noise coming from the front of the vehicle. Suddenly the right front wheel came off causing the consumer to have difficulty maintaining control of the vehicle. The consumer managed to pull over. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. The cause has not been determined at this time. Please provide further details. The consumer stated that a since the first day an intermittent noise like a scrapping noise was heard when the vehicle was driven at idle speed. The noise disappeared by applying gentle pressure to the brake and would reappear aain when releasing the brake. After 500 miles the problem still existed. The consumer stated that the invoice labeled the problem as a baffle plate rubbing against the rotor. The consumer stated that he still has temporary tags on his vehicle because the dealership lost the original paperwork. When the vehicle tire came off 4 of the 6 wheel mounting studs were missing and the two that were present were loose. The brake drum was moving and the fender was dented.

52 Wheel problem of the 1996 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/20/2004

My problem is that I have a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder and when riding over 60 mph I start to lose control of my car because it feels as my car wants to tilt over. I don't know if there has been other complains about this but this has been happening to me for the past 4 months here and there. . Not all the time. I have taken control on the car by slowly pressing on the break and starting up again. I will be taking my car next week to the Nissan dealership since it's starting to get worse. My father is a mechanic and has been trying to figure out what is wrong with my car for the past few months and he finally told me to just take it to the dealer and they should be know.
