1 Door problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2002

Consumer states that while driving the sliding door will pop open even if door had been locked.

2 Door problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2001

My kids were trapped in the car we had to bust out a window to get them out. The doors would not unlock even eith a key in the door or using the remote for keyless entry. This is not the first time this has happened, just the first time with my kids in the car. My kids are in car seats. Ages 2 and 5 months.

3 Door problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2001

The power door locks on my 96 Nissan Quest have a mind of their own. The family calls them "crazy" and we have to make sure that we do not ever leave the vehicle without the keys in hand. I am retired and my wife and I baby sit some of our grandchildren, we pray that we don't forget about them "crazy" door locks while transporting the grand kids. I mentioned the problem to a local service rep. And he was well aware of the problem with the Quest van power door locks. He indicated that they had been unable to fix the problem even after replacing all the power door locks. This left me with the feeling that a root cause had not been found and perhaps I would be notified in the near future of a "recall" or service bulletin to help with my "crazy" power door locks. After just seeing the cbs report tonight, it is apparent that many other have this same problem, but have not let NHTSA know. I just spent over $500 to fix the air bag light from coming on, to replace the control module, now I am wondering if the power door locks problem may be another bad control module. Control modules that involve safety issues should be very reliable.

4 Door problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2001

Doors will lock on their own without warning including when engine is running and no driver and/or passengers are inside. Dealer has replaced parts, but problem still exists and seems to be getting worse.

5 Door problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2000

Lock mechanism works improperly. For instance, when door is opened all of the doors would automatically lock. Consumer states while driving, locking mechanism will automatically lock on its own or, if out of the vehicle, or perhaps getting something, doors will automatically lock.

6 Door problem

Failure Date: 08/02/1999

On two occasions the power door locks failed resulting in two small children to be trapped in the vehicle outdoors in 100 degree temperature. Vehicle was taken to dealer six times, problem still exist.

7 Door problem

Failure Date: 06/30/1999

Automatic locks are locking by themselves, trapping an infant in the vehicle while consumer went around vehicle to front driver's door. Locks were cleaned in 1998, but defect reoccurred.

8 Door problem

Failure Date: 06/01/1999

No summarylisted for above vehicle.

9 Door problem

Failure Date: 02/01/1997

When ignition switch was still on and/or engine running consumer stepped out of vehicle to open house gate, all vehicle doors locked up unexpectedly, keys and remote control had been replaced before for same reason. Dealer and manufacturer were contacted.

10 Door problem

Failure Date: 12/01/1996

Door locks activate/deactivate autonomously. Dealer indicates failed actuator and charges $160 to replace.

11 Door problem

The door locks intermittently lock by themselves for no reason. The last time this happened, my two children were left locked in the car, in 110 degree weather while my wife frantically called the police to help get them out. This is a dangerous situation and Nissan needs to issue a recall to fix this before someone gets killed.

12 Door problem

The power door locks continually lock by themselves. Once, locking my 2 year old daughter in the van without it running. We live in texas, and it makes me sick to think what would have happened if I had not had an extra set of keys. I know from a cbs news report that my van is not the only one like we thought that this is happening to. Is it going to take a child's death for a recall to be issued? Nissan told me to have it fixed myself. I cannot afford to do that. It happens too many times to count.

13 Door problem

The electric door locks lock and unlock themselves, on one occasion the doors locked a small child within the vehicle for a short period of time.

14 Door problem

The power locks locked on their own once the door was shut. Also, at times the key will not unlock the locks. This has caused consumer to lock the keys in the vehicle numerous times. Dealer has been contacted.
