A family trip from st augustine heading southbound on I-95 towards w. Palm beach 75 miles into journey the vehicle shuts down with no warning signs. Had this van towed to nearest repair shop 25 miles and had the throttle body replace. There was no check engine light on prior to this repair. Parts that was defective was the throttle body, ignition coil and and was told by repair shop a possible defective fuel injector.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

The alignment adjustment bolt, the bolt that goes through the unibody, broke and dropped the a-arm section that holds the back passenger tire, onto the highway. I had three tires going straight and the back passenger tire turned in at 65 mph on the highway with sparks and swerving into the oncoming lane. We were able to regain control of the van and get it to the shoulder. For a moment we thought the van might roll. Our mechanic stated he has never seen anything like this before. This is a 2005 Nissan Quest with 65,000 and I maintenance it regularly. A very serious safety concern. This could have been a fatality.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

Turned on the air conditioning unit and while driving noticed the car start to smoke. Two days later tried turning on again and no smoke but sounds like a belt was rubbing together. Took the vehicle into the Nissan dealership and part #92463-5z000 pipeeassy and 92471-ze60a pipeassy rear were coroided. Concern is that if this holds antifreeze shouldn't this part which is the hose be rust resiistant? this seems to be a big problem but I was told well it's corroded. . . .

Unknown Or Other problem #4

There is an awful ticking sound coming from the engine. My car has been serviced my Nissan repeatedly and it's still making the noises. Now I've been told it's the timing chain. After reading up on this issue it's apparent that there a widespread problem with this part in the Nissan Quests.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

At a regular dealer visit for an oil change, I was told that I have a broken timing chain guide on my 04 Nissan Quest. The cost of this repair is approximately $1800. Upon doing some research, I discovered that this is a fairly common issue with 04 Quests and it appears to happen between 60 -90,000 miles (mine is just over 80,000). . Read more...

Unknown Or Other problem #9

My Quest was purchased 12/06. Since then the odometer has malfunctioned. They would not fix it. The brake disc have malfunctioned twice, even after Nissan replaced them. The response from Nissan was "hotspots happen normally in discbrakes". The motor mounts went bad after 2. 5 years. Now I am faced, after a little more than 4 years with "power steering pump" replacement and "rack and pinion assembly.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

- the contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest with an odometer reading of 38,000 miles. The contact stated that the controls on the instrument panel were unsafe because they were hard to use while driving. When the contact would try to use the defroster it was difficult because of the location on the dashboard and caused a distraction while driving. She had to roll down the windows until she came to a stop to turn on the defroster. Also, the speedometer which was located on the center of the dashboard made it difficult to see. The driver stated that the only thing that was located in the dashboard with all the controls in the center was a storage compartment which was a dangerous design flaw. Nissan has since fixed the problem with the newer models. The contact felt that the recall solution for the middle seat latch was a bad solution because they only used four plastic pegs and a piece of cloth. The current mileage was 38,000. The consumer feels that the older designs she be recalled because it is too difficult to operate safely while driving. Update 4/25/tr.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

The model of the van is a Nissan Quest model year 2004. The only door with a key lock is the driver's side door. We have a remote lock/unlock which was provided when the car was new. This remote is not covered by warranty even though if defective would prevent someone from entering the vehicle if the driver's side lock is frozen, damaged or inaccessible.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

Persistent leaking from pull down coat hook area every time it rains. Dealer has tried 7 times to remedy with no success.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

When I turn a/c & heater button circling the air out, I hear an annoying noise from ventilator. I had same problem about 2-3 months ago, so I dropped off my car to all brand Nissan for a while. However, the noise became worse recently. The dealer said,"we don't know what caused the noise. It was just a multi function problem we believe. However, we changed a part what we had to do. " that was heard when I dropped off my car 2-3 months ago. I am wondering that if the problem affect to other function or if Nissan dealer doesn't fix it completely. If my wonder is right, I would like to trade my car to new one and or the dealer guarantees to fix it completely/ clearly.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

I brought this car and it has just gave me problems. The dealership also has caused me to many problems. I tried to make an arrangement with the dealership so that they could help me with the problems the car was giving me, but they didn't want to help me with anything they told me that now that I had it was my problem and I had to deal with it.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

Nissan quest 2004 buzzing/whining noise from timing chain area and cause van to stall.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

On March 31 2004, my wife and I purchased a 2004 Nissan Quest se. (VIN 5n1bv2u44n352872). The reason for the purchase was due to the size and ages of our family members. We have 4 children. They are aged as follows: 14 years, 11 years, 20 months, 6 weeks. Since we have purchased this vehicle we have had the same problem over and over. With about 350 miles on it, the air conditioner locked up and the compressor was replaced. Around may we noticed the ac was not cooling the van off at all. Keep in mind we are in texas and this is one of the milder months. We took the van in sometime in early June to have them look at it. Shortly there after they returned the vehicle stating it was performing to manufacturer's specifications. I then went and purchased a ac vent thermometer. On low the temperature blowing out of the vents is cold around 50 degrees fahrenheit. However when you turn it to medium or high speed the temperature that blows out at the vents is around 70-75 degrees. This temperature is consistent even after the car has been running at highway speeds for approximately 30-35 minutes with an outside temperature of around 90. (which again is mild for a texas summer). With the air on high for 30-35 minutes the temperature in the cabin at the middle row of seats is 87 degrees. This is also with the rear air on high as well. My child's pediatrician advised me to not let my infant ride in these temperatures for extended periods of time due to the possibility of dehydration. So, basically I am in a $35,000 (msrp) automobile that I can not let my child ride in on any trips for fear that he may get sick. This is not right and I should not have to suffer nor should my child. The vehicle is simply not performing as it should.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

A/c problems, rattles, sliding doors raking paint off of sides of vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

I have a Nissan Quest 2004 that I am having trouble with the sliding doors. The deal has tried to fix them a number of times but the problem continues. When the doors are opened for someone to go into the back they close on people. This does not happen everytime but they are extremely heavy doors and hurt when they hit you. I do not understand why there is not a sensor in the door frame to prevent this from closing if someone is in the doorway. It seems extremely unsafe.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

After engine is running for over 500 miles,(ie road trip)the van starts to buck and buck, engines hesitakes,no power is this a engine vapor lock problem. Dealer could find no problem with engine test machine.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

I purchased a 1997 Nissan Quest from bell Honda August 30,2003 at 9:30 pm. By 1:30 pm the next day (16 hours later) the check engine light was on and the back suspension sounded like it was 100 years old. The windshield washers did not function properly and it was monsoon season. The switch for power windows was not working, I had a brake light out, no sun visor, and no dash lights to illuminate my gauge cluster at night. All within 16 hours and 15. 5 of those hours it was sitting in my driveway not even being used. I drove it 5 minutes down the road when I bought it and then 8 minutes to the church the following morning, and then 15 minutes back to the dealership to report the problems. I asked for my trade in back and they refused. They placed my Quest in the shop and left it there for 10 days. Of which 2 of those days they did not even give me a loaner car knowing that the Quest was my only vehicle for me and my husband to go to and from work and take my daughter to school everyday 20 miles away. They contacted me and let me know the car was ready and had no problems and within 5 seconds of turning on the car and driving just a few feet I knew the car had not been fixed it was malfunctioning the same way. I asked them to refix and they told me they could not duplicate the problem. I then demanded to see the owner and asked yet again for my trade in back this was now the third time asking for it or my money. I met the owner some days later. He told me I could keep the Quest or he would put me in a new car. He never gave me a choice just threw another vehicle at me and even charged me more money to do it. I hate the new vehicle and will not drive it not to mention I am fearful of my safety as I do not trust this dealership nor their vehicles anymore. I just want my old car back or my money and never see this dealership again. I hope you post this loud and clear.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

Since April 7, 2003, I have taken my car in for a noise in the drive system. It was supposedly fixed at that time however, I have since been back 6 additional times to fix the same problem but they created new problems. I called Nissan consumer they order that the car get a new tune up although I had one in November at no charge to me. I have had my fuel injection work done 3 times since November. The car is starting to act up again with the noise in the drive system and again acting like it wants to shut off. I have had it. Please send guidance as to what I could do to get rid of this lemon.

Unknown Or Other problem #23

My Quest would take a long time to get heat into the interior. Recently it started overheating as well. I replaced the thermostat, but all the instructions say to install the thermostat so the spring is facing to the inside of the engine. However, the t'stat listed for this vehicle will not fit with the spring to the inside of the engine; and the original t'stat (I don't think it has ever been replaced - it had Nissan on it) was installed with the spring end facing the hose end. So I installed a shorter t'stat so the spring would fit toward the engine. Now the interior gets heat quickly, but the engine still overheats. The radiator cap has been replaced, and the cooling system flushed. The problem eprsists.

Unknown Or Other problem #24

Weird electrical problems,I have taken to 2 different people, 1 of which specializes in transmissions, the problem is that when the vehicle is warmed up the transmission doesn't know what gear it is in, on initial investigation the problem appears to be the trottle position sensor but that was replaced and still no fix. They hooked up computers to the car while driving and say the computer doesn't read the tps being operative during driving but no problems can be found with the wiring and computer board. When the engine transmission starts to mess up the locks start to lock and unlock by themselves while driving, the check engine light is on and the overdrive light blinks off and on. At one time the air bag light come on for no reason it was checked and problem found. The sliding door latch broke within a couple of months of buying. The back windshield wiper motor would also come on by itself, we ended up taking the fuse out for that.

Unknown Or Other problem #25

Battery blew up when car started, steering grinds on turns (won't pass inspection!), two middle windows the closing devices each fell apart at separate times, check engine light is on and won't go off, mechanics can not find source of problem.

Consumer was traveling on highway and heard a noise. Then, warning light would come on dashboard indicating passenger sliding door would open while driving vehicle. Dealership was aware of problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #28

When vehicle gets up to speed of 58 to 63 there is a very bad vibration in the front end. Vehicle has been aligned, bearing has been replaced, rims and tires have been changed. Consumer states when pressing the gas pedal there is a major delay in acceleration. Consumer states car will suddenly lurch forward. Nlm consumer also states brake pedal squeaks, the steering wheel whines and the front drink cup holder would not work.

Unknown Or Other problem #30

Not a safety defect that I am complaining about, but a cosmetic I guess you would say. We purchased the minivan in Nov 99, by Aug of 2000 we noticed cracks on the roof - the paint of the vehicle's roof is now totally peeled off and rusty the hood is cracking too. Since Aug 2000 we have been trying to find out how to go about having the paint repaired. We have gotten the run around from then until now. The vehicle is now out of warranty range so that is now the reason Nissan claims that they cannot re-paint it. Several body shops have stated and written that the van does not have primer under the paint which is why it is peeling the way it is. It is certainly not fair to any consumer regardless of what the mileage on a vehicle is that a vehicle bought new and is less than 4 yrs old needs to be repainted because of a manufacturer's defect!.

Unknown Or Other problem #32

I have had many problems with this ouest. I have replaced the heater control, both side exhaust manifolds, replace acc c/v boot, replace antenna motor, replace air bag control unit, replace back windshield wiper motor, replace both front lower ball joints and the vent hose. This are just the major things. I have spend around 7000. 00 on this Quest for repairs and up keep. I brought it new in may of 1996. Never again.

Unknown Or Other problem #33

Check engine light is on and won't go off, and there is some type of knocking noise coming from the vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #34

Filled fuel tank & drove approximately 230 miles when engine check light came on. Drove 30 more miles & engine check light went out. Took to dealer & mechanic placed vehicle on diagnostic machine. The paint on the roof is peeling on the passenger side no indication of paint peeling on the rest of the rood or the vehicle anywhere else . It shoule be repainted to prevent further damage to the area in Question the company is refusing to comply because it is not covered by their warranty.

Unknown Or Other problem #38

( dot number: tire size: 205/75/r15 ).

Unknown Or Other problem #39

Cost was approximately $400-$500 dollars to replace, should not have failed, as no accident was involved. Dealer said we were out of warranty due to mileage. But this was not a moving part and should not have failed or should be covered for mor than standard warranty on vehicle. No component (safety defect indicated).

Unknown Or Other problem #40

The brake problem was diagnose as failure of the hydraulic piston located in brake calipers that enagages the brake to disengage and caused the pads to wear out to the metal damaging the disk brake. The dealer did all repairs under warranty.

Unknown Or Other problem #41

When ignition switch was still on and/or engine running consumer stepped out of vehicle to open house gate, all vehicle doors locked up unexpectedly, keys and remote control had been replaced before for same reason. Dealer and manufacturer were contacted.

Unknown Or Other problem #42

Problems with 2004 Nissan Quest. The consumer was not able to use the fresh air setting in the vehicle. The cool air from the outside became heated by the engine thus causing warm air to enter the cabin of the vehicle instead of cool air.

Unknown Or Other problem #43

Service engine came on @37,000 mi. , warranty expired at 36,000? dealer cannot solve the problem, I have returned to shop 3 times and now left the van at the shop to see if it can be repaired. I am without a vehicle and do not know if the van is safe or not to drive. Dealership does not tell me anything. I find it strange that this engine check soon" indicator came on 1,000 mi les after warranty expired. Dealership has replaced an oxygen sensor but problem continued. I am afraid to drive the van until this is resolved.

Unknown Or Other problem #45

This vehicle has numerous problems beginning with the brakes having to be changed multiple times; one occasion while driving on the expressway my passenger sliding door opened up resulting in me having to pull to the side of the road and close the door. When I first purchased the vehicle I would get in and start the car, the windshield wipers would go, the horn would blow and and the doors would lock; there was a terrible banging sound coming from what appeared to be the rear of the vehicle, but after 3 stops in the shop was identified as a bolt being loose in the stearing column, my gas pedal sticks and will all of a sudden release causing the vehicle to lunge forward; the rear bulbs all blew out in the rear of the van and melted the encasing surrounding the bulbs; during a rain storm the windows where in the down position and would not go up; the vehicle had to go into the dealer for them to pull them up; when you attempt to lock the doors the locks make a sound as if they are attempting to lock or unlock but do not, it takes several attempts to unlock the door whether inside or outside of the vehicle. . . Ultimately this vehicle has been a sincere disappointment that needs to be returned to the dealer, however my dealer has gone out of business and the new dealer will not take the vehicle back because it is not their responsibility. I have contacted Nissan about the vehicle but Nissan's response is to return the vehicle to the dealer for service. Nissan is not paying for a loaner car and I can't continue to take time from work to babysit a vehicle more than my children. . . This will be the last Nissan I own. I almost don't want to get rid of it because I don't want another unsuspected individual to purchase this nightmare on wheels.
