2004 Nissan Quest. Consumer states safety problem with the power windows and power doors
the consumer stated the passenger side window would not stay closed. When the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, he was informed to fix the problem it would require replacing the motor, which would be very expensive. The consumer declined the repair. Later on, the window reverted back to its proper closing procedure and operated as it was designed. However, the driver's window would not close automatically and the consumer was forced to hold down the button manually. The door on the passenger side would not close completely. It would stop about half way. The consumer had to physically push the door closed which lasted for weeks. Then, suddenly the door began closing correctly without any attempt at repair. The sliding door on the driver's side didn't function as it should. It all started when the consumer's grandson was exiting the vehicle by pushing the open button from the inside. As he was getting out, the door reversed itself before it opened completely and began closing, hitting him and wouldn't stop as it was supposed to when meeting an object. Fortunately, he was only frightened, but not injured. The door continued to malfunction, so the consumer no longer used it anymore. The consumer referenced recall # 04v186000. However, his VIN was not included in the recall.

I've been ignoring this problem since I bought the vehicle. Now it is completely dead. The problem was, everytime I tried to close the driver's side window, it automatically reopened about 6inches down by itself. In order to close it completely, I have hold up the switch for about 30sec. To 1min. I wonder if anybody else has this issue. If it is, is it still covers under manufacturing warranty.

The windows in my 2006 Nissan Quest roll down after the car is turn off and we lock and walk away from it. It can happen at anytime and even after a few hours. When we come back our van is unlocked and windows are down. This has happened over a dozen time the first month we have had it.

I have had the van in the shop at least 4 times(~15 days) with ongoing problems which include: the windows failing to roll up when button is pushed, the gas gauge failing to register gas after filling it up, the gas meter after a half a tank never registers correctly (when light indicates no gas and tank is filled the van will only take 16 gallons and owners manual indicates a 20 gallon tank), the transmission slips, the sliding doors squeak and rattle, rear interior clamps on floor of car are rusting, idiot lights come on intermittently, the gaskets on the doors are coming off, the heated seats haven't worked in high and low, the entertainment system doesn't respond to rear av, and the air conditioner is not cool enough and it stinks. The automatic slide doors will not stop for small objects but this product was designed for families. These doors will remove a child's finger and the switch to initiate the auto slide is low, where one child can push it while another is getting in, or has their hand in the way and didn't realize their brother pushed the button. I did my own little research test, I got pencils and everywhere I placed a pencil the door closed with the pencil being snapped into many pieces and crunched up in the door. Then I tried the same thing on my friend's Honda, but the Honda's auto slide doors bounced off every time. Nissan only designed their doors to respond to large extremities. I have an attorney and I am going through a process for lemon law. I didn't realize the issues with the van in a few days so I don't think Nissan service will resolve all these issues in 2 days with a special Nissan engineer sent out from the company as part of my lemon law process. And in regards to the sliding door concerns all anyone will say is that the doors are performing the way they were designed to. So Nissan designed a product for families that will remove a small hand or finger.

The driver's side automatic window slowed and eventually stopped working. Because of the failure we had to leave our vehicle in a public parking lot at one point with the window fully open. This is a safety issue and invites theft among other things. One month later the passenger's side window was making the same sounds and also failed. When I took off the inside of both doors, the exact same failure had occurred. A plastic piece holding a metal cable on the window regulator had broken in half in the same spot on both windows. The driver's side failure was so bad that it also caused the window's motor to burn out. I caught the passenger's side window's symptoms in time before it had a chance to destroy that motor. The failure on that side caused the cable to tangle around the regulator's wheel assembly. This is obviously a design flaw and should also be considered a safety recall for the manufacturer.

The contact owned a 2005 Nissan Questand had several problems with this vehicle, such as air conditioner compressor went out/the vehicle pulled to the left/two sliding doors vibrated while in motion/right passenger door was very hard to open and close, and dashboard made a funny noise. Also, when reaching 30 mph the vehicle made a noise and stopped. Also, did this when reaching 60 mph. The back windows while open and in motion vibrated. She was afriad the windows will break. Contact checked into the lemon law.
Driver and passenger windows will not stop once consumer raises them. Dealer found no defects, however the mechanic's finger was caught.
Caller said both front axles broke. Car made a noise and when she took it in to have it looked at the dealer said that the right one rusted and the left one broke. Both windows will not go up or down. The dealer repaired the windows 4 times. A mechanic was fixing the axles. The manufacturer has been contacted, and caller is waiting for them to call her back. The date was when the windows started going bad. The axle problem started on July 6, 2005.
My Nissan Quest has been plagued with electrical problems from day one. The windows go down completely on their own with vehicle turned off. The passenger sliding door opens randomly on its own. The tire alarm goes off when tire pressure is fine. Air vents fly off and lights fall out of the ceiling. Most troubling is the automatic side sliding door. Owner's manual stated on page 3-8 the door will reverse direction immediately during power open or close, a warning chime will sound and the door will reverse direction and return to the full open or full close position. The door does not operate this way, the door will not stop when it encounters an object it will continue to push the object in its way. My husband and I have both been caught by the door. It has knocked small children to the ground. I have complained to Nissan , and they insisted that this was the way the door were supposed to operate. The automatic close button is right at the level a small child would put his hand to enter the vehicle and could be easily activated. Nissan says the door is designed to reverse within the last couple inches even though this is contradictory to its manual. Please help before a child is seriously injured.
I bought the vehicle in new March 2001. That November the drivers window stopped moving. I had to have my drivers window regulator replaced, it was done under warranty. A little more than a year later the passenger regulator needed replaced. In the fall of 2003 the drivers window stopped moving again and two months later the passenger window stopped. I have searched junk yards for one but they don't have that new of a vehicle. And when I do find one the regulator is already broke. I have since then replaced the passanger window but I still can't find a drivers side. The warranty on the replacement parts was only one year. My vehicle now is 3 years old and out of its warranty. I sent Nissan a certified letter and they declined to help. I can buy a new part but afraid it will go bad too.
We have problems with the doors locking and unlocking for no reason while driving. Windows on driver and passenger side where lowered while driving; then when raised on the drivers side it would move. With engine turned off tried to raise window, no success. Found recall 98v-012. 002 turned engine on, then off, opened only passenger door and then window would go up.

Nissan Quest 2004 service engine soon light on and problems with steering. The service engine soon light had come on 3 times, creaking was felt in the steering wheel and or the front end, sounds were heard coming from the engine compartment, computer tire monitor indicated a flat tire and or low tire pressure during cold weather, the vehicle would run for five minutes then go up to 4 degrees higher (over inflated), when the weather was warm, the setting would then be above 40 psi which was dangerous to drive if not adjusted (incorrect results on the display), srs light had come on after recall campaign #04v103000 was performed, driver's side power window was intermittent, sliding doors made loud bump noise when opened all the way, especially on inclines, heat outlets located on the floor behind the first row seat can't be controlled by the passenger rear controls, the dome lights were not working, the door rattled, the drivers side front window would not move, the window switch has an open circuit, the vehicle was jerking upon acceleration at 30 mph, rear heater was blowing cold air, there was a heavy grinding noise when the vehicle was first started after sitting for more than one hour along with the power steering, transmission fluid leaked a reddish/purple fluid on the garage floor, the interior lights were inoperative and there was an evaporation leak.
Rear door, both sliding side doors have a recurreng rattles, squeaks and clunks. Noticed the problem after driving the vehicle a few miles, dealer try to fixed, but after a fews days the problem come back. I want the Nissan to replace the vehicle, I'm convinced the problem will not go away.
I purchased a 1997 Nissan Quest from bell Honda August 30,2003 at 9:30 pm. By 1:30 pm the next day (16 hours later) the check engine light was on and the back suspension sounded like it was 100 years old. The windshield washers did not function properly and it was monsoon season. The switch for power windows was not working, I had a brake light out, no sun visor, and no dash lights to illuminate my gauge cluster at night. All within 16 hours and 15. 5 of those hours it was sitting in my driveway not even being used. I drove it 5 minutes down the road when I bought it and then 8 minutes to the church the following morning, and then 15 minutes back to the dealership to report the problems. I asked for my trade in back and they refused. They placed my Quest in the shop and left it there for 10 days. Of which 2 of those days they did not even give me a loaner car knowing that the Quest was my only vehicle for me and my husband to go to and from work and take my daughter to school everyday 20 miles away. They contacted me and let me know the car was ready and had no problems and within 5 seconds of turning on the car and driving just a few feet I knew the car had not been fixed it was malfunctioning the same way. I asked them to refix and they told me they could not duplicate the problem. I then demanded to see the owner and asked yet again for my trade in back this was now the third time asking for it or my money. I met the owner some days later. He told me I could keep the Quest or he would put me in a new car. He never gave me a choice just threw another vehicle at me and even charged me more money to do it. I hate the new vehicle and will not drive it not to mention I am fearful of my safety as I do not trust this dealership nor their vehicles anymore. I just want my old car back or my money and never see this dealership again. I hope you post this loud and clear.

Doors lock and unlock by themselves randomly.
Engine light on - computer code: anti-knock sensor estimated repair @$350. Did not repair; reset system, light did not reappear for 3,000 miles, reset again. Door locks intermittent problem, esp. With slider. Airbag light flashing, cannot afford repair. Read light burning out bulbs (twice within 3 mos. ) after market repair caused different problem.
Weird electrical problems,I have taken to 2 different people, 1 of which specializes in transmissions, the problem is that when the vehicle is warmed up the transmission doesn't know what gear it is in, on initial investigation the problem appears to be the trottle position sensor but that was replaced and still no fix. They hooked up computers to the car while driving and say the computer doesn't read the tps being operative during driving but no problems can be found with the wiring and computer board. When the engine transmission starts to mess up the locks start to lock and unlock by themselves while driving, the check engine light is on and the overdrive light blinks off and on. At one time the air bag light come on for no reason it was checked and problem found. The sliding door latch broke within a couple of months of buying. The back windshield wiper motor would also come on by itself, we ended up taking the fuse out for that.
The passenger's side automatic window started making a grinding noise, slowed and eventually stopped working. I had to pull the window up while working the button. The same day the driver's side window was making the same sounds and also failed. I took off the inside of the passenger's door, I noticed that a plastic piece holding a metal cable on the window regulator had broken in half. When I checked the driver's door I saw it had broken in the same spot. I was lucky enough to catch the problem before both motors burn out. The failure caused the cable to tangle around the regulator's wheel assembly, it kinked and frayed the cable. I went to the dealership and purchased both assemblies at a very steep price. This is obviously a design flaw and should also be considered a safety recall for the manufacturer.
Power window in the 2005 Quest rolled up on driver's head while it was out of the window. The windows have and automatic roll up feature. The consumer accidentally hit the switch while head was out the window and the window rolled up. The rear passenger side automatic door sliding door closed on the consumer's finger. The consumer as taken to the emergency room. The finger was not broken.
At any speed even stopped the locks lock and unlock without even touching the button. The van can be sitting still, the keys out, and no one near the car and you can hear the locks locking and unlocking. My children have been locked in and we have had to break a window to get them out. I could not unlock with the keys or the remote. It would not let me. Also the sliding door pops open at various speeds and conditions even on level surfaces with no bumps. This causes the interior lights to come on and the door ajar light to come on. It happens even if the doors are locked.
When trying to unlock car from inside using power locks on both passenger side and or driver side , power locks would automaticlly re-lock doors making exiting van impossible. Also after heavy rain I would get in van and find carpet soaked in front passenger side. Also would get soaked if driving in rain. Passenger side door or window was not opened to let water or rain in.
