Whenever you open the rear passenger door on the drivers side the trunk opens on its own, I found out about this because the light on the dashboard would turn on at first I couldn't understand why but soon discovered that the trunk door was open and it happen every time you open that specific rear passenger door on drivers side. It is unsafe because I do carry items in the back like groceries and such and if I wouldn't of found out about this someone behind me could have been hurt due to this. Where I bought the vehicle I did let them know and they fixed it but not even a year has passed and it started to occur again I'm not sure if there is something wrong electronically or how these two doors are connected but it occurs every single time you open that specific door.
While relocating from MD to TN (approx. 11 hours) in July, traveling the interstate vehicle began losing acceleration after about 2 hours of driving. Vehicle never stopped not overheated. After brief resting periods (15 mins or more), vehicle's performance improved but never returned to normal. Upon arrival to TN, vehicle was checked for clogged fuel injectors and oil/battery levels and functions. All were fine. Changed gas from regular to premium to minimize/correct possible problems. A few weeks later, a 3 hour trip was taken and the issue recurred. Took the car to carmax where it was purchased and they tried to recreate the issue and had the vehicle all day without duplication. In August, relocated from TN to GA, approximately a 3 hour trip, and the same problem occurred again. Took the car to the Nissan dealership for evaluation, car was there for almost a month as the root cause was a faulty transmission setting that prevent the vehicle from accelerating if the transmission got too hot. Turns out the setting was so low that the above-mentioned problems occurred. I ended up having to have a transmission replaced in a relatively new car (3 yrs old).
Two months prior to burn out, vehicle was taken to local Nissan dealership for cvt fluid flush. Was not aware of recall until after incident occurred, after contacting nna. Also was experiencing loss of power when driving up hills or speeds above 70 mph. I mentioned to dealership, they advised to get cvt tranny fluid flushed and refilled. Recall was never addressed to me at previous Nissan service visits. Nna has denied "product liability. " my sister and I were fortunate to make it out of a flaming, rolling fireball. Firefighters pinpointed explosion and fire to power steering electric control. Vehicle is a total loss and incident is yet to be investigated, insurance currently in beginning phases. Be careful in the Rogues people!!.
I bought this car in 2013 used with 38000 miles after about 60000 miles I noticed that at a stop light it would not go when I accelerated and after a few seconds it would go, this happened a couple of times. There was no warranty on the vehicle so I purchased a extended warranty. The next incident was when I was driving all of a sudden the rpm's started going real high and then the car slowly lost powe,r at this time I had about 2000 miles left on my warranty took it into the shop where they could not find anything wrong . I continued to drive the vehicle which by now the warranty has expired. The car was getting to the point that when it happened I would have to pull over to the side of the road to wait and after a few minutes it would gain power again, I then took it to Nissan where the told me it was my transmission, I took it for a second opinion where they confirmed it was the transmission which they say is crazing for as little miles and being a some what new car. It cost me 2600. 00 compared to Nissan which wanted 3800. 00. The problem I had was that I drive about 84 miles from home to work and it stared to get where I couldn't trust that car. From what I read and was told from Nissan is that the altama has very similar problems to where the see a car a day with transmission problems which is not right, why should we consumers get stuck with costly repairs on a fairly new vehicle. My car never had a engine light that came on they only way I knew something was wrong is when the rpm's went real high.
