general problems of the 2013 Nissan Rogue - part 1

I have already reported a crash due to sudden loos of power and submitted everything except the info that the air bags did not deploy and they should definitely.

My 2013 Nissan rouge looses power and makes a jarring noise immediately after stopping at every stop when I accelerate it suddenly losses almost all power its already caused a crash I got hit right after take off because its immediate deceleration.

I was in a head on collision going 55-60mph with no airbags deployed. Car started a dripping fire. I have seatbelt lacerations starting from collarbone/neck area cross my chest, breast and right side ribs including deep bruising on lower abdomen and pelvic area. Police would not let me in my car bc air bags could potentially go off at any time but car made it to the tow-yard still without airbags going off. No warning or recalls sent to me since I bought the car in may of 2022.

No warning light. Going down the freeway at about 70-80 mph then the accelerator stops working. It goes down to about 44 mph with my foot floored in gas pad. I have to get off the road and then let her set to cool . This went on over and over on a recent 15 hour trip I had the transmission sensors evaluated and it was indicated they were no good replaced one but need 2 and one reordered. If was . Waiting on replacement and the outside parts so I'll keep up with the changes we do to if they are wrong. Also replacing outside transmission filter.

Vehicle has a habit of losing speed, even on cruise control, when going more than 70 mph for extended times and dropping below 60 when doing so on interstate with no warning lights or system notifications. The most recent occurence was on Saturday, June 7th when driving on the interstate and cruise control engaged at 73 mph when it cut off, dropped to just below 60 without warning and would not accelerate back when pedal completely depressed and then ac system started blowing hot air and compressor would not kick back on. First attempted to check freon and those levels are not the issue- air blows but blows hot without cooling at all. This did occur in sustained temps in the low to mid-90s.

My car is a 2013 Rogue s with 118,000 miles. Two weeks ago I was on the I-95 at around 70 miles an hour and the car suddenly goes to 45 miles, despite my insistence to maintain my speed, I had to give up and pull over to the right . . . I was able to go home at low speed and this experience traumatized me. After that I consulted a mechanic who told me without joking that these cars have the worst transmission and I should contact Nissan. I contacted Nissan customer service to explain the problem, they told me no and gave me a case number (52135330). After checking, it turns out that following repeated complaints Nissan would have increased the warranty up to 120,000 miles, but not for me!.

Since about 100,000 miles the engine valve cover/gasket is leaking engine oil which has leaked below and caused deterioration on other parts below like the tie rod boots etc. Vehicle is currently in the shop and I can send any documentation once I get it back.

Purchased a 2013 Nissan Rogue with 95,000 miles on it back in the summer of 2021. Currently has 102,00 miles. While travelling on the turnpike at 75 mph, the engine suddenly shut down and I began coasting until I stopped. Being in the left passing lane, I had to get over to the berm without getting hit by passing vehicles (2 nearly rear-ended me) because I was coasting slowly across two other lanes. Once stopped, the car would not restart. I started doing research as to why this happened. I needed a new part for the transmission per the Nissan dealership. Nissan said I also needed an "engine cooler" for $1500 or it will happen again. This situation is a very well-known issue with this year of vehicle. It can happen with minimal mileage on it but usually when the tempos are in the 90's. Nissan knows about this because later models have these engine coolers installed. I could not afford $1500 and the extended warranty I purchased in 2021 did not cover it. This is a known issue and there needs to be a serious look at a class-actions lawsuit. I paid for this part already and the car has been running fine.

Known issue with engines overheating and the vehicle stopping. Purchased a 2014 Nissan Rogue with 95,000 miles on it back in the summer of 2021. It currently has 102,00 miles. Along with the purchase, I purchased the “extended” warranty for $2400 to cover the drive-train. All was running well until the temperatures starting climbing into the 90’s consistently. While travelling on the turnpike at 75 mph, the engine suddenly shut down and I began coasting until I stopped. I tried restarting the car but to no avail. I called a tow truck to tow me back home 35 miles. I started doing research as to why this happened. It’s two-sided. The good part was that it shut the engine down before it overheated. The bad part was that I did need a new part for the transmission per the Nissan dealership. Good-bad there too. Though I had the extended warranty with protective asset protection, I still had to pay the labor difference between what the dealership charges and what the third-party would cover. That was a $400 difference which I discussed with the warranty company. They are in agreement with the dealership on the amount of labor they would pay “per hour”. The difference is that “based on a national average”, they say the job would only take 9. 7 hours x $150/hr. However, Nissan said it would take 12. 3 to complete. The difference in time is where the $400 discrepancy comes in. Not sure how the warranty figures all that out, but that’s a scam in itself. I spoke to someone at Nissan consumer affairs and all she could do was escalate. While talking, she sent a message to the two gentlemen working on my case (richard garrett & mark avery) and they told her to tell me t have the dealership call one of them and they can help. Sounded very positive. I contacted the deale.

#1 I have been completely affected by the known defect in the Nissan transmissions with the first instance being my on the interstate, 4 hours from home with my child only, and we lost power while driving the interstate. The losing power issue has happened multiple times over the last 5 years and all that I can find online is that Nissan is aware and owners can buy something and have it added to the transmission. . . . If we purchased the vehicle I think Nissan should at least be responsible for the issues with something that they are aware is an issue with the products they sell. I am now putting oil in the car every few weeks because of a leak that there is no explanation of how it happened and will cost a fortune to fix; and most recently I came out of work and when I went to get in my car the handle came off in my hand. I've researched and apparently this too is an issue with Nissan Rogues. . . . . . Everytime I search for a recall there is nothing for the 2013 Rogue but there are for the ones years prior and after??? whoever thinks that the perfect line came out in 2013 needs reevaluate their information!!!!.

-vehicle will stop accelerating in traffic -accelerate suddenly even when your foot is not on the pedal.

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph. The vehicle noticed a strong smelling coming the vehicle in addition the vehicle caught on fire coming from the driver’s side footwell. No warning message illuminated. The contact was able to exit the vehicle safely and no injuries were caused. The fire was extinguished by the charlotte mecklenburg fire department no repot was given and cause of fire is unknown. A police report was filed with the mecklenburg police department, but the incident report was not available by the contact. The vehicle towed to a salvage junkyard. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and made aware of the failure and no assistance was provided from the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 260,000. The VIN was not provided.

While driving up a mountain with no guard rails, my car lost power and failed to accelerate. The car was still running and I had the gas pedal pressed all the way to the floor but we weren’t moving. I then had to reverse my car down a narrow, no guard rail mountain road, while also directing traffic coming at us and behind us to go around my vehicle. All with my 68 year old father and 62 year old stepmom passengers who were terrified; I was also but had to hold it together to get my family to safety. I finally reversed us to a switchback that had enough pavement for me to carefully turn the car around and drive down the mountain road to safety. There were no warning lights or symptoms before the failure occurred. Then while driving home on regular highway, the check engine light came on (solid, not flashing). I drove to my house and haven’t driven or started car since. My car is available for inspection upon request. This vehicle had the cvt transmission replaced under warranty around 30,000 miles and I suspect it has failed again.

While driving home from vacation I started noticing my car wasn't letting me drive over 65 mph. It felt like the car need to shift but wouldn't. I pulled over and turned my car off. Opened the hood of the car and everything seemed ok. When I got back on the road and started to pass traffic my car wouldn't engage when pushing on the petal. I had multiple cars behind me that needed to brake for me to be able to get back over into another lane so they could drive past me. My engine light then turned on. I could not drive over 65 when pushing the petal all the way to the floor. I stopped by an auto supply store and they helped me read my engine light. The code stated p0744/ torque converter clutch circuit intermittent. I have made an appointment to get car looked out and have been told they believe it is my cvt. My car is just at 80,000 miles.

Transmission is the issue. It is available for inspection. I have to have my transmission fluid changed every 8,000 miles - my car will stop at red lights/stop signs. The rpm’s will go up but the car will not move. This has almost caused multiple accidents as the car behind me thinks I am going when I cannot move. If I stop, I may not get going for several seconds. It’s taken up to a couple minutes at times. This has been looked at by our mechanic and it does this for him as well. There are no warnings. No check engine light, no change in the car. No signs of this happening. It is terrifying not knowing when this may happen. The transmission fluid is black when we get it changed after inly 8,000 miles.

Transmission failure was diagnosed. The car stopped accelerating on me on winding back roads putting myself and others at risk. Nissan told me there are no recalls so they will not repair it. This is the second issue I had with the car, however the first was not related to safety concerns. This one most certainly is! my life was at risk as a curvy road has blind spots other vehicles will not expect a car to be broken down when they come around a curve. This is due to the 2013 Nissan Rogue transmission failure my SUV only has 97,000 miles.

I was driving down the highway from the airport headed back home, and the car started to lose power. My foot was pressing the pedal to accelerate but the rpms went past 3-4k and the speed kept going down. No engine lights showed up on the dash or any type of warning. I pulled over on the brim of the highway, I called someone who said to let it sit for a while and try again - I checked my radiator fluid - it was fine and didn't over heat. All electrical components work - I could barely accelerate. I was able to coast for a while at 60 mph and then when I needed to accelerate nothing happened. I tried to call the dealership today and they said there is no safety recalls - but I can see there is a cvt extended warranty in place, but not until 2014 Nissan Rogue. I have a 2013 Nissan Rogue.

The transmission is going out and the car is less than 10 years old and it just hit 119,817 miles. I looked at the information on the Nissan Rogue's and it states that the manufacturer had a extended warranty on some of their Rogue's transmissions but not all of them for transmission repair, only some of their Rogues, because they apparently build a crappy transmission. I've looked up this extended warranty and any recall notices here but there are none showing. How do we get Nissan to fix their mess? this is ridiculous! I was driving down the interstate with my 9 month old grandson, when my car lost power and started jerking; I had to pull over and wait until the traffic was cleared so I didn't cause an accident. The car wouldn't go any faster the 18 mph , not a safe place of the older lady and her grandson to be. . Stuck on side of the interstate. After giving the car time to sit for awhile, we were able to get going again, but every time the car went over a certain speed, usually over 60 mph, it would start to jerk again.

When stopped at a stop sign or red light car losses power and almost stalls.

My 2013 Rogue is having electrical issues and power transmission problems.

Only a month after I bought the car I was going normal highway speeds(around 70mph) and it felt as if my car slipped into neutral, I had 0 acceleration and continued to slow down on the highway, I shifted into low gear and back to drive and it picked up again. This has happened four more times where the cars automatic transmission has slipped.

Vehicle loses power/ability to accelerate on longer drives, especially when up/down hills are involved.

When driving in approximately weather on the highway, we lost all power/pickup and the car wouldn't get over approximately 45mph. This was an extreme safety hazard as the road we were on had no breakdown lane. We were eventually able to pull off the highway and let the vehicle cool for about 20 minutes and then we went backroads for the remainder of the drive. This has happened at least 5 additional times, all when driving on the highway in high temps and when the rpms on the car are higher than 2k consistently. This is so dangerous and I cannot believe that Nissan isn't doing anything to make this safety issue right.

Purchased this car in 2015 from. Nissan dealership. The car randomly loses power when I'm on the highway. It's happened 3 times within the last 3 months. The car smokes a bit when this happens. Took it to my licensed mechanic who's owns a shop and was told my transmission was fine, the fluids in the car where up to par and he couldn't find anything wrong with the engine. Was told Nissan Rogue has many issues with the cvt and its worth seeing if there are any open recalls on the car. So I checked by VIN number and nothing came up. But as I do my research into other owners that have the same make and model as well year of my car, they are having the same issue. Wondering why hasn't this been looked into.

After driving on the freeway in hot weather the car car decelerates and will not accelerate. Car goes from 65 mph to around 40 mph. This is a very dangerous situation in traffic. This has happened several times every year since we bought car. I have 'googled' this and it seems to be quite common with this Nissan model. Also other Nissan models. I am afraid to take this car on any road trip. Nissan will not address this issue. Something needs to be resolved before someone gets killed in this car!.

This vehicle hesitates when accelerating which can be a deadly hazard when crossing an intersection or anywhere driving. This problem is very dangerous and Nissan needs to repair this potentially deadly problem.

I have had one problem after another and this started right after purchase. A/c compressor went out first, driving down the road, cost $600 to fix. After that, the blower motor burned up while warming up one morning. I started smelling burned plastic, $300 repair. 6 months later, I am spending $4000 to replace the burned up transmission. I went into fail-safe mode while I was attempting to make a turn against traffic. Then I could smell something burned after driving. Now I have just spent another $500 on a new battery and cables and new alternator, only to hear my vehicle still not starting. As I write this, I'm waiting for a call from firestone to now tell me what's wrong with my car and how much this will cost! it is only February, and I have already used my 2 weeks vacation because my car is undriveable. Meanwhile, I still have 2 yrs left on my auto loan agreement. Please help us 2013 Nissan Rogue victims.

My transmission has started sounding as if I have a manual transmission instead of automatic. It acts as if it is waiting for the gear to be shifted at low speeds and high speeds. Also, driving to austin last week, I notice that I was not able to accelerate past 60 on multiple occasions. I had no idea what the issue was. My mpg also flutters back and forth. After arriving back home I looked up so information and found out that there are numerous other rodgers owners with the same issue. If this is the case, I am confused as to why they are still selling them. And why there has not been a massive recall. Had I known this, I would never have gotten this vehicle. If it is a known manufacturer if issue, the company should be fixing these problems. I will not stop until, I get my car fixed or money back.

I believe the transmission is no good.

The vehicle radio goes on and off, the dash lights and gauges go on and off and the vehicle jerks and then stops this all while driving.

My vehicle continues to go into limp mode when driving on the highway. A mechanic states that it the cvt, transmission issue. I just went over my warranty and now I'm going to have to pay out of pocket 3,000-5,000 dollars to have fixed. I have spoke with many others that have the same make and model, 2013-2018 with the same issue. I was in the fast lane and my vehicle would not take the gas and ended up on the side of the rode three times during my trip. Once I turned my vehicle off, it would drive normal until I drove for another hour or more.

Vehicle loses power on occasion after being driven for more than a half an hour.

Similar to other Nissan cvt transmissions our 2013 Rogue has lost power while drive on more than one occasion and often struggles to keep speed. One instance�we were at a red light on a steep incline when the car lost power. The car started to roll back toward the car behind and we nearly avoided a collision. � we noticed this issue the day we purchased it. We have taken it in to our local Nissan dealership right away and several times after to report the issue but they kept saying nothing was wrong. We have been following the recommended�maintenance schedule and other recommendations from Nissan but now after the warranty has ended�they informed us we need to repair the transmission. �Nissan has been acting very unethically and are not taking responsibility�for this issue that could be fatal to other drivers. �.

After cruising the car at highway speeds (70mph) for around an hour the car begins to slow down on it own and even floring the gas pedal won't increase the speed, it will just rev at high rpm and start slowing down. The can barely speed up to 30mph after that after continuing to floring the gas pedal and reving the car at it's highest rpm. There are no engine lights. The car has to be turned off for 10-15mins but sometimes even that does not help. When taken to dealership they offer to put a new transmission which cost around $4000. This is a major issue for all Rogue cars.

Vehicle starts running hot after on interstate for approx. 30 min, temp will return to normal if heater is being ran on high. Diagnosis was thermostat needed to be replaced. Vehicle runs hot after thermostat was changed. While on interstate for approx. An hour vehicle still running warm. Temp returns to normal while heater is on high. While on cruise control rpms increased suddenly to 4500 with a speed of 70. Slowed down to 60 and rmps continued to climb to 4500 until I pulled over on the side of the road. Torque converter clutch solenoid failing. Temp fix, sprayed connection cleaner on torque converter clutch solenoid, rpms are still slightly elevated from normal, but manageable for now.
