1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2025

No warning light. Going down the freeway at about 70-80 mph then the accelerator stops working. It goes down to about 44 mph with my foot floored in gas pad. I have to get off the road and then let her set to cool . This went on over and over on a recent 15 hour trip I had the transmission sensors evaluated and it was indicated they were no good replaced one but need 2 and one reordered. If was . Waiting on replacement and the outside parts so I'll keep up with the changes we do to if they are wrong. Also replacing outside transmission filter.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2025

Vehicle has a habit of losing speed, even on cruise control, when going more than 70 mph for extended times and dropping below 60 when doing so on interstate with no warning lights or system notifications. The most recent occurence was on Saturday, June 7th when driving on the interstate and cruise control engaged at 73 mph when it cut off, dropped to just below 60 without warning and would not accelerate back when pedal completely depressed and then ac system started blowing hot air and compressor would not kick back on. First attempted to check freon and those levels are not the issue- air blows but blows hot without cooling at all. This did occur in sustained temps in the low to mid-90s.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2025

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 70 mph. The contact stated that the vehicle decelerated and stalled with a whistling sound coming from underneath the hood. The contact coasted to the side of the road to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The dealer was contacted; however, the dealer was unable to inspect the vehicle until the impact bar was repaired due to the vehicle being rear-ended by another driver, and because the vehicle had a salvage title. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,490.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2024

I was driving my car to appointment up a hill and the transmission completely gave out, additionally, since I bought it, it has consistently had problems accelerating, and getting above 45mph. The problem cannot be pinpointed.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2023

A friend and I was driving out of town we drove approximately 3 hrs before vehicle stalled on us at a stop sign. The car had no power after driving 60-70 miles on highway. We exited access road & once we stopped at stop sign car acted as if it had no power/gas. Although foot was on pedal all the way to the floor. Transmission has been replaced a year ago. Vehicle did not want to go over 50 mph after car stalled. This is so dangerous we turned around & went home we did not feel safe or comfortable driving this vehicle out of town.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2023

Dangerous and terrifying vehicle malfunction. I have done extensive research on the vehicle and I am beyond upset that this has not been resolved for everyone who owns any Nissan vehicle experiencing this problem. While driving either on the highway or local streets after approximately 10-15 minutes of travel time at any speed there is a loud whining noise while accelerating and total power loss. My 2013 Nissan Rogue sv has almost complete power loss while driving just a few minutes at any speeds and especially during or immediately following highway travel. While driving with my 3 year old son in the back, operating at the posted speed, the vehicle suddenly loses power and the ability to maintain or increase speed, the accelerator can be fully pressed and there is little to no response. We have nearly been involved in multiple accidents with semi trucks, other cars/suvs, and objects due to this issue. This has created a massive risk for us while driving daily routes to school and work. I have read hundreds out of thousands of forum threads, youtube comments, and tweet, etc. . And as a whole every single post has the same issue for many Nissan models but little to none have been fixed or addressed. This issue is extremely hazardous and life threatening, I am terrified to have my child in this vehicle for any reason. I am extremely disappointed in the fact that there has not been a single positive response from Nissan to repair this problem and save the lives of the people and there families who paid extremely high prices to buy these vehicles to only be very tragically affected by these problems after the purposely designed warranty is expired and then cost in the thousands for repairs are being handed to the owners. I am not going to stand by and allow this to go unaddressed until it causes serious harm or injury to my family and I. The thousands of people who have experienced this can agree. There is a manufacturing defect related to the cvt transmission system.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2023

While driving home from vacation I started noticing my car wasn't letting me drive over 65 mph. It felt like the car need to shift but wouldn't. I pulled over and turned my car off. Opened the hood of the car and everything seemed ok. When I got back on the road and started to pass traffic my car wouldn't engage when pushing on the petal. I had multiple cars behind me that needed to brake for me to be able to get back over into another lane so they could drive past me. My engine light then turned on. I could not drive over 65 when pushing the petal all the way to the floor. I stopped by an auto supply store and they helped me read my engine light. The code stated p0744/ torque converter clutch circuit intermittent. I have made an appointment to get car looked out and have been told they believe it is my cvt. My car is just at 80,000 miles.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2023

1) air bag light on indicating it doesnt work 2) horn sounding continusly, activate on a left wheel turn 3) cruise control doesnt work but is active in the screen panel 4) radio start automatocally increasing volume continiously driving me crazy.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2023

I was driving on the interstate when my car suddenly stopped accelerating. There were no warnings or messages on my dashboard. I was almost rear ended by a semi truck because the car rapidly lost speed. I pulled off of the road for over an hour before the car would accelerate again.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2023

Transmission failure was diagnosed. The car stopped accelerating on me on winding back roads putting myself and others at risk. Nissan told me there are no recalls so they will not repair it. This is the second issue I had with the car, however the first was not related to safety concerns. This one most certainly is! my life was at risk as a curvy road has blind spots other vehicles will not expect a car to be broken down when they come around a curve. This is due to the 2013 Nissan Rogue transmission failure my SUV only has 97,000 miles.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2022

There has been a issue with the transmission for 5 years at least and as of 2 weeks ago, the transmission completely went out.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2022

I was driving down the highway from the airport headed back home, and the car started to lose power. My foot was pressing the pedal to accelerate but the rpms went past 3-4k and the speed kept going down. No engine lights showed up on the dash or any type of warning. I pulled over on the brim of the highway, I called someone who said to let it sit for a while and try again - I checked my radiator fluid - it was fine and didn't over heat. All electrical components work - I could barely accelerate. I was able to coast for a while at 60 mph and then when I needed to accelerate nothing happened. I tried to call the dealership today and they said there is no safety recalls - but I can see there is a cvt extended warranty in place, but not until 2014 Nissan Rogue. I have a 2013 Nissan Rogue.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2022

The transmission is going out and the car is less than 10 years old and it just hit 119,817 miles. I looked at the information on the Nissan Rogue's and it states that the manufacturer had a extended warranty on some of their Rogue's transmissions but not all of them for transmission repair, only some of their Rogues, because they apparently build a crappy transmission. I've looked up this extended warranty and any recall notices here but there are none showing. How do we get Nissan to fix their mess? this is ridiculous! I was driving down the interstate with my 9 month old grandson, when my car lost power and started jerking; I had to pull over and wait until the traffic was cleared so I didn't cause an accident. The car wouldn't go any faster the 18 mph , not a safe place of the older lady and her grandson to be. . Stuck on side of the interstate. After giving the car time to sit for awhile, we were able to get going again, but every time the car went over a certain speed, usually over 60 mph, it would start to jerk again.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2021

Loss of power after driving for an hour or more and going uphill. Rpms will only go to 3000 and unable to accelerate. Driving in heavy traffic going through salt lake city interstate 15, had loss of power and was unable to accelerate as traffic slowed and then sped up again. Just returned from the 2245 mile trip and experienced the problem multiple times. One time was parked in a driveway at a slight decline and was unable to back out of the driveway until I waited for the engine to cool off. I did call my local dealer where it was purchased and they told me it was an underlying issue. Will be scheduling a diagnostic check this coming week. No warning lights on dash, just sudden loss of power.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2021

Vehicle does not accelerate once running for a period of time despite pressing down on gas pedal.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2021

Vehicle loses power/ability to accelerate on longer drives, especially when up/down hills are involved.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2021

When driving in approximately weather on the highway, we lost all power/pickup and the car wouldn't get over approximately 45mph. This was an extreme safety hazard as the road we were on had no breakdown lane. We were eventually able to pull off the highway and let the vehicle cool for about 20 minutes and then we went backroads for the remainder of the drive. This has happened at least 5 additional times, all when driving on the highway in high temps and when the rpms on the car are higher than 2k consistently. This is so dangerous and I cannot believe that Nissan isn't doing anything to make this safety issue right.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2021

Purchased this car in 2015 from. Nissan dealership. The car randomly loses power when I'm on the highway. It's happened 3 times within the last 3 months. The car smokes a bit when this happens. Took it to my licensed mechanic who's owns a shop and was told my transmission was fine, the fluids in the car where up to par and he couldn't find anything wrong with the engine. Was told Nissan Rogue has many issues with the cvt and its worth seeing if there are any open recalls on the car. So I checked by VIN number and nothing came up. But as I do my research into other owners that have the same make and model as well year of my car, they are having the same issue. Wondering why hasn't this been looked into.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2021

I was driving in the morning, on a somewhat busy road that acts as a small two lane highway that leads to the freeway, and all of a sudden it felt like I had gotten a flat tire and was driving on the rim. No sounds, just dramatic loss of power. I was able to pull over on a very narrow shoulder. Inspected tires and all were perfectly fine. I waited a few, turned car on which started just fine. Put car into gear but absolutely no engagement!! nothing. With foot pedal to the floor, just didn't move. Rpm's were normal along with speed odometer. This was not only a scary situation to be in knowing that while in motion this vehicle lost all ability to function but a huge safety concern for me and others. I truly hope this doesn't happen anymore! something needs to be done about this. Not okay Nissan not okay.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2021

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, while driving the vehicle inadvertently decelerated without warning. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 185,000.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2021

This vehicle hesitates when accelerating which can be a deadly hazard when crossing an intersection or anywhere driving. This problem is very dangerous and Nissan needs to repair this potentially deadly problem.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2021

The vehicle is not shifting correctly on highway or city, the rpms fluctuate when hitting the gas and and speed does not match the rpms. Which getting to 60mph the car starts to shake and will down shift and which makes the vehicle harder to accelerate and in some cases wont accelerate at all even with the rpms continuing to raise. I have gotten it looked at by certified mechanics and the said they cannot tell the issue especially with no warning lights and no faulty codes. When sitting at a stand still the rpms continue to raise over 2000 even with the vehicle in park.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2021

Vehicle will not get up to speed when driven for a 45 minute period of time and won't allow me to pick. Up to state speed I noticed there's been complaints about this issue due to a low temperature governor on the vehicle and that makes it dangerous for the other people traveling due to that issue I was on the interstate 25 traveling south.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2020

Driving at highway speeds for about 40 minutes when the vehicle loses power. I stepped on the gas pedal and nothing happened. I had to pull off the highway to avoid getting rear ended.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2020

On our return trip from miramar beach, FL to our home in vestavia hills, al the car's speed abruptly reduced to approximately 45 mph after driving at approximately 60 mph on a state highway (for approximately 1 1/2 hours) but the vehicle would not respond to the accelerator other than to "vroom" when I pressed it with my foot. The problem with acceleration did not correct itself during the remaining 75 miles of the trip. We also smelled an odor like burned oil when we stopped. Very dangerous as all other cars passed us on this alabama state highway and the subsequent distance on interstate-65. Based on what we have read on the internet, including settlements of class action law suits and extended warranty awards for earlier model years, we believe the problem is related to the Nissan's cvt transmission and it's factory settings.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2020

Transmission needs replaced due to cvt problems which Nissan is aware of and has never issued a recall. Some issues include: loud/whining noises when accelerating, difficulty accelerating, sudden loss of power, and increased rpm even when speed is decelerating.

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

During a 600 mile road trip on interstate and 2 lane highways, our 2013 Nissan rouge began having acceleration issues after about 4 hours of driving. Car would not accelerate past 60 mph even with gas pedal pushed all way. This would happen several more times. We found a mechanic in a small town who could not identify any specific problem. In a larger town the Nissan dealership was closed so we took our car to the local tire and oil change to check fluids etc, no issues were found but we went ahead and had oil and filters changed. Problem occurred one more time on our way to our destination. We did not travel on highways for a few days. About 5 hours on our way back home we had the same problem and could not accelerate on the interstate beyond 55 mph, even worse on hills. We pulled over and allowed car to rest for about 45 minutes. We managed to get home. This problem did occur once or twice over the years during daily city driving but never to this extent. Our normal day to day driving does not require highway/freeway driving. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2020

My daughter was driving my car 4 days ago with heat about 90 degrees. The engine light came on and unable to accelerate even with foot on gas pedal. She was able to pull over and let the car rest for several hours and was able to get home safely. My local mechanic said code po744 torque converter clutch circuit needs repair. I brought to Nissan dealership today and report no recalls (which I know is incorrect) as also 500,000 vehicles are affected. If Nissan does not pay to fix these obvious cvt transmission defects, I will never purchase or recommend anyone waste a penny on this bs company. Never again! why isn't us protecting our consumers against this unacceptable product?!.

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2020

When driving the vehicle for 2 hours or more it looses speed. I was driving back from tenesse to chicago and it started loosing rpm. I started loosing speed and had issue going up hill. Rpm wouldn't go higher than 2. I was in a 70 mile open road. Eventually I had to pull over as I kept loosing speed. I googled the issue and saw complaints in sites about the same issue. I waited 10 minutes turned it on and it ran fine. 2 hours later I had the same issue. This is a risk especially for people who have families like myself.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2020

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 60-70 mph, for approximately 30 minutes, the rpm revved up however, the vehicle started decelerating independently and was making abnormal whining sounds. There was no warning light illuminated. The accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond and continued to decelerate. The contact veered to the side of the road for a moment. The contact continued driving however, the failure reoccurred after driving for 30 minutes. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring increasingly. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that she needed to pay for a diagnostic test and repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

31 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2020

When accelerating the vehicle it will stall even while on the interstate and I did a google search that stated this issue is common to most make and models-.

32 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2020

I've had numerous problems with this car. While driving with my family on the highway for over 1. 5 hrs. The car would not accelerate above 60 mph. Another time while highway driving on the OH turnpike 1 hour away from home I lost acceleration while going uphill and coasted to an area to stop. While I was stopped the car smoked and it would not start until after 30 minutes. I was able to make it to a mechanic who informed it may be my transmission and he advised to not go over 60 mph and to take the back roads home.

33 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2020

Would not accelerate forward or reverse with no warning while driving or from a stationary position.

34 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2019

Lost speed driving on highway, all of a sudden vehicle lost power and I was stepping on gas pedal and vehicle would not go, I almost got rearended due to vehicle slowing down.

35 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

When driving my 2013 Nissan Rogue further than 30 miles going speeds of 60mph or greater the rpms race out of control, the car dangerously reduces speeds on freeway even while the accelerator is still pressed. I have to turn off car on the side of the freeway for 10-15 mins before trying to drive again, only to have the speeds reduce and rpms race out of control again. If you are trying to go up hill for a short distances or go up hill on entrances ramps, exit ramps, or up hill on bridges there is the same lag in transmission. The rpms race out of control and Rogue dangerously reduces speeds. There is also a loud whining noise when you press accelerator beyond 60mph or going up hills, ramps, or bridges. I'm frustrated with Nissan they know about this issues with this model 2013 Nissan Rogue. They've even extended the transmission warranty for 2008-2010 with the same issue just under a different name. They also acknowledge its a problem for models 2008-2013 through there 2015 Nissan service bulletin. My frustration is Nissan wants me to pay thousands for a known problematic safety issue with these models and years. But refuse to do so. If they can extend the cvt transmission warranty for the 2008-2010 they should also extend the ctv warranty for the 2013 model that's having the same issues with the cvt sensor and valve. I've only had my 2013 Rogue since 08/2019. The Rogue was fixed once but all was done is transmission fluid was changed in 08/2019. Now it's one year later and same exact issues are occurring and they are refusing to fix again as a customer satisfaction.
