Hatchback/liftgate Lock problems of the 2016 Nissan Rogue

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the hatchback was not working as intended. The contact stated that the hatchback opened correctly; however, the hatchback closed automatically, without warning. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, and the contact was informed that the spindle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 178,000.
