Driving 55 mph down road when my 2018 Nissan Rogue sl awd automatically slammed on the brakes by itself. Lights on the dashboard flashed and it made horrible breaking sound the force flung me forward but seat belt locked up holding me in place. There was absolutely nothing or no one fffcccffin front me. Luckily no one was behind me eor they would’ve hit me. Can’t figure out a way to turn off this safety collision feature because it’s a put hazard!.
Randomly when driving, the pedestrian crossing message will show in the dash and the brakes will kick on. It's happened too many times. The Nissan logo has been cleaned and the radar sensor does not have any fault codes showing. But the emergency brake will kick on and it has almost caused accidents.
There appears to be a problem with the automatic emergency braking (aeb), while driving on 2 occasions, my nossan 2018 roque automatically slowed down by itself and flashed a warning on the dash board and made an audible beeping sound. The tires also had friction against the road, showing the breaks activated on their own although there was no risk of an accident or obstacle in the way so t should not have activated. Thos seems dangerous because it slows the car down randomly and might actually cause an accident. It happened 22dec2025 and about 6 driving sessions before that so it's a recurring issue.
While driving at approximately 15–20 mph, my vehicle suddenly started beeping and displayed a quick warning message on the dashboard before the brakes locked up on their own. The incident lasted only a few seconds, but it was extremely alarming. This same issue has now happened twice, both times in the exact same location on the same road, driving at about the same speed. The first incident was roughly around [xxx], the second incident was [xxx]. On both occasions, I had my [xxx] twin daughters in the car with me, and it frightened all of us. Thankfully, there were no vehicles directly behind me either time, otherwise it could have resulted in a rear-end collision. I believe there were cars ahead of me, but they were far enough away that I don’t think they triggered the sensors. Both times it was sunny, dry weather, and the road conditions were normal—no rain, no slick surfaces, and no obstacles in front of me. I am not sure if sunlight could have affected a sensor, but it appears to be related to the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system or another electronic braking malfunction. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer, but I plan to have it checked as soon as possible. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, I experienced a sudden and severe brake system failure that created an immediate safety hazard. While driving at low speed, the brake pedal traveled to the floor with little to no braking response. The vehicle could not decelerate normally and required significantly increased stopping distance, placing me and other motorists at risk of a collision. Following the incident, the vehicle was evaluated by an independent service provider. Diagnostic results indicated a brake fluid level fault, and findings were consistent with a failing master cylinder and/or internal hydraulic brake system malfunction. Although the brake fluid reservoir appeared full, braking performance was critically compromised, indicating an internal failure rather than routine wear or maintenance. There were no warning lamps, messages, or alerts prior to the failure. No brake warning light or other indication of reduced braking capability was present. The failure occurred without advance notice, eliminating any opportunity for preventive action by the driver. The vehicle had recently passed a state safety inspection and was represented as roadworthy at the time of sale. A vehicle with an internal hydraulic brake failure or compromised master cylinder should not pass inspection or be certified for use on public roads. Due to the seriousness of the defect and the immediate safety risk, the vehicle was returned to the dealer. Prior to return, no tow assistance was provided despite the known brake defect, requiring limited operation of a vehicle with unsafe braking capability and further increasing public safety risk. The defective condition was confirmed by an independent source and was reproducible in that braking performance was unreliable. Although the vehicle has been returned, this incident raises concern that similar vehicles may experience sudden brake failure without warning, posing a serious crash and injury risk to the public.
There is a dash light coming on and warning saying “front radar obstruction” causing car to randomly brake, and cruise control not to work. Thought it was originally from a deer I hit March 30, 2025. Replaced sensors, cameras, emblem, checked wiring, recalibrated, multiple diagnostic test all done by more than one person. No one can figure it out even after replacing and testing it’s still happening. Insurance deemed it a coincidence that this started happening after I hit the deer and said problem is not from hitting the deer.
My car has been hacked electronically. I've reported this to Nissan, and to the Nissan dealership at the 60,000 mile check-up. My safety has been impacted through the brakes coming on automatically (I just had them serviced - hopefully this will help), but if there is an electrical component, it may be tied into the navigation system as well. I do door dash, and at certain times, I've had my phone navigation fail, and then my car navigation fails for no reason. If one system fails, okay, because I have google maps on my phone and also car navigation. When all three aren't working at the same time - it is a targeted effort. There are also loud noises coming from the car speakers, I'm unsure if there is an issue with Nissan connect? I'll give an approximate date, but these are happening multiple dates.
For about a year now when starting my car I sometimes get a message that states no key detected. I have two keys in the vehicle with new batteries. I does not do it all the time but often. Yesterday the car would not start at all. I pressed the buttons on the key fob several times to lock and unlock the doors and the car finally recognized the key was in the car. Once I started rolling out the garage the brakes locked up and I could not turn the wheel. Thankfully, I was able to stop before entering the street. I feel this is a manufacturers defect because I have had several people with Nissans say they had the same issue and paid over $1000 to get it corrected. My CO worker was talked into trading hers in for another vehicle for the exact same issue. I made a claim with Nissan customer service. The case number is [xxx}. Since my purchase of my Rogue 2. 5 years ago, it has randomly given a warning and braked out of nowhere. With no cars around, in front or behind, it was alarming. Since purchasing the car, this issue has occured, at least 15-20 random times, with the scariest being on the interstate. When the brakes slammed (out of my control) on the interstate, I was terrified a car behind me would rear end me. Luckily the car behind me was too far back but I could tell they were aggravated that I braked out of nowhere on the interstate. Dangerous! I plan on getting rid of this car after only 2 years!.
The aeb braking malfunction light keeps coming on, I shut it off but it comes back on. I’m afraid it will do an emergency stop and cause the vehicle behind will hit me. No recall has been done by Nissan. I need help so I will feel safe driving my car.
The problem that the abs system suddenly applies the brakes is back depsite the recall a few years ago on the Nissan Rogues. This happens ont he highway and on back streets at whatever speed. Yes the car is availabel for inspection. It happends when alone or in traffic, no rhyme or reason. I have not had the time to take it to the dealer yet to investigate. The light may come on or the car brakes itself slightly causing the car to swerve or pitch. This has happened daily last week and this week. This can cause someone to have an accident and endanger the lives of others. There is no warning, the light either comes on or the brakes are applied all of a sudden.
While driving, the front collision warning activated, immediately followed by the automatic emergency brake system activating. This made my car break suddenly, attempting to stop in the middle of traffic without warning. There was nothing in front of me that could have activated the systems. This occurred twice in the past week.
Sudden braking while driving, with no reason or cause. No objects or vehicles in front to cause it to happen. It has occurred multiple times without warnings, putting my family and I in jeopardy.
My car is breaking on its own. I have a malfuction warning on the dash. I took the car to the dealership and they reprogrammed it the first time in December of 2021. The second time, they wanted me to pay $1800 to fix in October 2022. This is a major issue that keeps reoccurring and I am scared I will get rear ended one day. This has happened again today.
- automatic emergency brake malfunction. Was driving when suddenly without warning the vehicle started braking - flashing lights on dashboard. It all happened so fast and brief I did not see what the warning said. - at the time I did not know if it was the vehicle braking or a transmission issue, but after the event everything was back to normal. - my mechanic scanned the vehicle next morning and said there was an aeb incident recorded. - I have since turned the aeb feature off upon starting the car each time, but a warning will always pop up while driving - system malfunction.
My car braked automatically while driving 50 mph.
I am driving feel vibrating shake on brake front and rear 4 bad.
I was driving about 20mph or less on a street, there was no one in front or back of me luckily. But all of sudden my sensors started blinking my car started to break on its own like wheels starting to lock the sensors blinked so fast I couldn't see what it was as I was watching road to make sure no one is around. It did it a few seconds and I was able to press on gas pedal and keep driving. If someone was in back of me I would of got in a accident.
On Friday April 21, 2023 I was operating my vehicle with my toddler inside going about 30 miles per hour when suddenly out of no where with no warning my vehicle beeped rapidly 5 times and as it was beeping it intensely braked itself and/or slowed down immediately while at a speed of about 30 miles per hour. It was as if my car was getting pulled backwards and immediately slowing down I had no control of my vehicle. I was driving 30 miles per hour but I had no control of my vehicle, not until the vehicle was finished pulling all the way back and slowing down to about 5-10 miles per hour from 30. I had no warnings at all and at the times there were no vehicles directly in front or on the side of me. I feared for my daughters life and safety because we were on a busy road and just felt in the moment we were going to get hit from behind because my vehicle was out of my control it had a mind of its own, I couldn’t control it cuz it’s like it braked it self and at a speed of 30 it pulled back. I’m scared to drive this car now. I brought it for my growing family but it’s a danger to me and my family as well as other vehicles driving around or besides me; for these reasons I don’t trust nor want this vehicle no more. What component or system failed or malfunctioned? I believe the auto breaks/ emergency break sensors failed me how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? my safety and my toddlers safety was put at risk because we coulda got into a really bad accident injuring ourselves as well as others because the car dropped its speed and dragged and/or pulled my vehicle back intensely without warning. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance? yes were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure? no, I received no warnings prior to incident nor during or after incident.
Since I bought the car numerous times(over 50) the car stops or the brakes activate automatically for no apparent reason. Three times my daughter came extremely close to getting into a major accident being that the car behind literally touched the back bumper. I’m afraid of letting my daughter drive it as the car was bought for her, as I’m afraid she’ll get into an accident. Took the car three times to Nissan service as was told this problem is a normal occurrence with this car model and missn k owns about it but won’t do anything to solve the problem as of yet. I was told that they could replace the “laser” for $2100 which I would have to pay for but there is no guarantee that it would solve the problem. When I asked what are my options besides that I was told to trade the car in and buy another one as if I have the luxury of just buying another car. This issue was reported first in 2019 by other drivers who had the same issue and there are lawsuits going on at the moment by people that got into accidents because of this and still Nissan won’t do anything about it. We need help in order for them to formally recall these models so we can avoid more accidents. Please help!!!!.
On several occasions, my car has slammed on breaks on its on. There is a warning message that appears saying either there is a malfunction or the front radar has malfunctioned. Then the car will just stall or break on its own with a screeching sound. This has been terrifying as it has happened which driving on the highway.
Abs. Fault.
The brakes suddenly started acting funny and the car feels unsafe when braking. The brake shave been checked by two different brake shops and they claim the pads, etc. Are fine. The problem started when multiple warning lights suddenly went off on our dashboard. This included the aeb system malfunction light, traction control, check engine, and abs lights went on. The brakes sometimes have to be pressed down farther than normal and the abs breaks activate in normal braking situations.
Since I purchased my car in September of 2022, a 2018 Nissan Rogue sl awd, whenever I drive down to houston, TX, my aeb symbol (2 cars crashing symbol) flashes. This is consistent with me going to houston about once a month, and I've driven elsewhere fine. I've driven throughout north TX, and to louisiana, but every time without fail, my car gets the aeb sensor light. It flashes, and sometimes will go off for a day or two if I'm down there, but comes back on no matter what.
The emergency braking system on several occasions has beeped as though it was going to engage when no vehicles we’re around and on at least 3 occasions it has engaged when no vehicles were around. I brought it to the dealership to “update” the system, but the problem still occurs.
Aeb sensor caused the car to stop while driving full speed under an overpass while cars were behind me almost causing an accident.
The first time I was just pulling out of my driveway and my car, made this grinding noise and forced to stop and the braking system light came on. The second time we were going 30 to 45 miles an hour and the same thing happened made that grinding noise came to a stop that time was definitely more harder because we’re going faster. I brought this to the attention of Nissan in bayshore, and supposedly they checked a couple of things and said nope everything’s fine and like I said that was the first time and the second time they said the same exact thing that there could be some thing that triggered it. No I don’t think so. I think that there’s something wrong with the system because things like that just don’t happen both days that this happened to me it was a clear day one was daytime one was night time , so there was nothing near me. Nothing in the way. This could’ve been really serious if I was going faster. I think that they should be addressed because obviously they are not taking it. Seriously you see all of the complaints why is this not being looked into more the second time when we were going faster, and I told Nissan this it actually hurt me , my neck was killing me for a week. This should be taken very seriously because if somebody is driving faster and that happens or if somebody is a new driver and that happens and they can seriously hurt themselves or others because it comes out of nowhere n is very scary. Fyi- I had to put in a fake date of when it happened to move forward on the form. I’m unsure of the two dates but my car was brought into the Nissan dealership in bayshore for the problem n there is documentation there with the dates.
Was driving down the road and the aeb light came on. There was no reason for the sensor to go off. After about a minute, the alert came on my dash saying there was a malfunction. I’ve tried cleaning the sensors, turning the car on and off, and even turning the emergency breaks off. The sensor is still alerting after being in the car for around 5 minutes. The breaks haven’t abruptly stopped as of yet, however they have slowed the vehicle down while I’ve tried to accelerate to keep up with the flow of traffic.
The contact owns a 22018 Nissan Rogue. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 22v549000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
As you are driving down the road with other vehicle around my car will break itself as if I was about to hit someone from the back.
I was going to work on PA turnpike was driving 70 mph 6:30 am there was nothing in front of me the automatic emergency braking system stoped my car for no reason thank god no one behind me like tractor trailer or I would have been killed I know there are problems with this system this wasn't the first time like the third time it happened also my warning light came on said obstructed don't know but was not safe they need to recall this and find a solution how many of these automatic emergency braking system stoped other's it is very unsafe when your on a highways or any road.
Car stopped in the middle of the street. Two different screens popped up one was yellow the other was red and white one said malfunction and explanation mark.
I am driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue, currently has 65000miles on it. May 1st 2022 8 pm, while I was driving at 35 miles per hour, the car suddenly triggered its emergency brake and brought the car to a full stop in the middle of the road. There is no obstruction around me at all. Imagine this happens on a heavy traffic highway, I can be killed this way.
Automatic emergency braking engaged with no warning, slamming in the brakes with no obstacle around. I was driving to work and the car slammed on the brakes and flashed a warning light, there were no other cars or anything around luckily. It would have caused a accident if someone were behind me.
The vehivle itself locked up and stopped while driving in the middle of traffic.
