general problems of the 2018 Nissan Rogue - part 2

On several separate occasions my brakes locked up while driving my 2018 Nissan rouge sport, including yesterday January 2, 2022, luckily I was trying to leave a gas station and not on the interstate like the prior incident. I didn't understand what was happening this morning January 3rd, when I started researching the strange orange indicator light that keeps displaying and why my brakes keeps locking and I can't do anything until they release themselves. I found several complaints of people having the same issue as I. This was a scary situation, I was 91 miles from home when this brake incident occurred again. I looked up recalls and there is no recall for the braking malfunction for my vehicle, I can't keep playing russian roulette with this vehicle and my life, I drive my 5 year old grandson in this car. Now that I know the issue I'm scared of driving for fear of having an accident and worst case scenario me or my grandson being killed if the brakes locked on the highway and someone slams into the rear of the vehicle. This is definitely a safely hazzard that needs to be resolved. I can't believe I had to research to find that this was an ongoing problem that's being kept quiet. Who has to die before major issues such as this are corrected, we are consumers who put their trust in the hands of automakers and manufacturers to ensure we are purchasing safe vehicles. Like myself and so many others, our intent is to purchase good quality vehicles, which includes safety as the number one feature. My vehicle is definitely not safe and I don't want to keep putting myself or my grandson in harm's way due to no fault of our own.

I was driving 50mph in a 50mph zone and the forward collision avoidance system activated emergency braking, bringing vehicle to an immediate halt in a lane of traffic. Conditions were wet from earlier rainfall; however, no hazards or vehicles were immediately in front of me. This activation tugged on my seatbelt and chest and collarbone resulting in pain while the vehicle lunged me forward. Due to the immediate breaking of my vehicle, vehicles behind me were forced to quickly break or make a lane change. If the vehicles behind me were not responsive enough, I would’ve been struck by a vehicle going 40-50mph. The problem has not been reproduced or inspected; however, this has happened 3-4 other times with no attention to the matter.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph when the vehicle suddenly seized due to the car safety sensor for the front of the vehicle suddenly activating with no vehicle's in front or on the sides of the vehicle to cause it activate. The contact had pressed the accelerator pedal immediately after and the vehicle functioned as anticipated. The contact had spoken the dealer however the vehicle had not been officially diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage is 41,000.

Every time I drive the vehicle, a "malfunction" warning appears after several beeps. It displays a collision icon, and states "see owner's manual". However, this does not appear in the owner's manual. Additionally, every time I drive the vehicle, there are several beeps and both a "warning (!)" and "collision" icon appear before a message stating that there is "front radar obstruction", despite there being no obstruction. The third and final, and most dangerous issue has happened once in the six days I've had the car so far: a warning appeared that there was a driver on my left that was too close to me despite there not being a vehicle on my left. The emergency brake immediately turned on and slowed my car to a near stop. This happened on the highway in a 65 mph zone. This put my safety and the safety of others at immense risk of collision due to unnecessary and unexpected stopping.

The emergency brake turns on automatically while driving, it pulls the car, so you can't drive. This is very dangerous and can cause an accident. It can be a life and death situation because the car just slows down automatically without you touching anything. Then the forward collision light goes on. When you take the emergency break light off, and turn the car off, the collision light goes off. It has happened to us twice and I have read online that it has happened to others as well. This is very dangerous as it puts everyone's life at risk.

The aeb system in my vehicle was upgraded due to recall in may 2021. On August 17th the aeb system engaged as I was driving down the road, there were no vehicles or obstructions in front of me to cause such action. I did avoid being hit from behind due to quick thinking and pulling to side of road. When the brakes engaged a malfunction warning flashed on my screen. No warnings were issued prior to incident. I called Nissan service they said they were unaware of a problem but I made appt to bring in to be evaluated, they did not find anything wrong and I was charged a diagnostics fee. After some research I did discover there are many other complaints of the same matter and also that there is an ongoing class action lawsuit against Nissan for this problem. I was also told by the dealership manager that this is a problem with many Nissan vehicles.

Car flashes a warning display on screen red brake light appears and car slams on breaks for no reason nothing around or in front of car. Has happened 3 times.

While driving wheels locked up once with flash warning, one with sound warning. Happened twice within one week of each other. No obstructions in front of or behind me. Wheels locked up with no injuries. Took to dealer for diagnostic testing ($149. 00) with no findings/codes to explain locking of wheels.

On June 10, 2021, I was driving my vehicle preparing to merge on the interstate to go home when all of a sudden the aeb warning light activates and I cannot not safely drive my vehicle. My vehicle speed would not increase above 3mph. I had the vehicle towed to my home. Today I contacted the dealership requesting that they have my vehicle towed for service and a loaner (as this is my only means of transportation) and was informed that I would be responsible for the tow, that it would be 3 to 4 days before they could run diagnostics and they have no loaner. My reality is if I had merged onto the interstate and this happened, I could either be dead or lying in the intensive care unit.

While driving at speeds between 30-40 miles per hour my 2018 Nissan Rogue suddenly brakes with no warning. I did not touch the brakes and there was no other vehicle in front or behind me. These incidents really scared me. This sudden braking has happened six different times between November, 2020 and June 2021. I took it to the dealer(nashville downtown Nissan) to repair it when it first happened. They said that they fixed the problem free because it was under the 30,000 mile warranty. Four months later the the car suddenly braked at 40 miles per hour twice within a 3 day period may 27,2021 and may 30, 2021. Around June 1, 2020 I took my 2018 Nissan Rogue back to nashville downtown Nissan to repair the sudden braking problem again. They wanted to charge me $2,000 because it was no longer under warranty. I said that I did not have $2,000. So they told me to pay $182 for checking it. Now I drive my 2018 Nissan Rogue in fear of someone crashing into me. Nissan should be ashamed for letting this problem persist without offering a recall.

My 2018 Nissan Rogue has had the auto brakes (aeb) kick in and cause my car to come to a complete stop on multiple different occasions when there was no hazard, car or pedestrians in the road. It has happened on at least five separate occasions and the last three times I was barely able to avoid being rear ended. It has happened on side streets, highway and on interstate roads on various speeds from 30 mph to 75 mph. This is a very dangerous situation and needs to be remedied without charge to customers. We purchased this vehicle so we would have a safe car to drive our children in and this is impeding on the safety standards of this otherwise great vehicle.

The air bag light keeps coming on and it stays on. Along with the forward collision light. That lights comes on whenever I try and brake.

Just bought 2018 Nissan Rogue. While driving at speed of 35 mph , suddenly forward collision warning started flashing and automatic brakes went on . There was no other car in front .

Car just stopped automatically when coming slowly into the garage several red light blinked very fast . . . I had never experienced this before.

The failure mileage was 47,984.

Vehicle made full stop while driving locally about 20 miles per hour. There was no obstacle yet the automatic emergency brake was initiated.

When approaching an intersection, the brake pedal was unable to be used, locked up. With no brakes, the result was a collision. The front collision detection that constantly warned falsely on the dash. This failed to work prior to the collision at this time. Automatic brakes did not engage either resulting in a serious crash. Nissan dealership is inspecting the brake booster, and brake system.

There were clicking noises while applying the brake at the previous stop before the collision. About 100 yards before a red light I was pushing on the brake pedal but it would only go half way down. There was no response on the brakes. Ended in collision with another vehicle.

Since purchasing this vehicle used in Dec 2019 there has been many occasions of the forward alert for collision activating and there was no other cars near the front of the vehicle, it flashes on the dash so quickly and goes off before we can see what it's saying. There has also been many occasions of the automatic breaking activating and auto breaking while driving at various speeds including on the interstate and leaving the interstate onto off ramps as well as normal city driving. Just recently found this reporting site and as we are afraid of a rear end collision happening if this is not addressed with Nissan.

While driving the abs randomly brakes and a malfunction warning comes on while on the highway which can cause an accident Nissan will not fix it without charging 1300 dollars when there is a class action low suit on this issue. You can disable the feature but a malfunction warning still comes and beeps loudly.

The front crash light started flashing out of the blue and then the car slammed on the brakes and brought it to a complete stop and it was a completely clear night with no traffic around me. There was zero reason for it to do that! I was going almost 70 mph on a country road and there was not an animal or another car anywhere in sight. It happened twice that the light came on and the first time, I pulled over, killed the car, opened my door and reset it and started driving again. It came on again and then slammed the brakes on. Luckily there was no one behind me or I probably would have been in an accident! I took a video just prior to the car slamming on the brakes.

I was sitting at a light with a car in front of me. The car in front of me started moving so I accelerated slowly and my car started beeping and then the breaks locked up. I was not too close to the car in front of me so I am worried as to why this happened. If there had been a car behind me, they probably would have hit us my car stopped so quickly.

I am driving forward at 55 mph on a main road in the city. There were absolutely no cars in front, on sides, or behind me. Then warning flashes on dash quickly and immediately after warning display my car slammed to a stop. I was slammed forward into the steering wheel. It was the automatic braking system that is malfunctioning apparently.

The breaking system on my 2018 Nissan Rogue driving 50mph slammed on the breaks and caused my car to stop without warning, a red light came on and I was whipped forward. There was no traffic in front of me and 2 cars behind that would have hit me as I was able to get off side of road. This would have been a fatal accident. We have contacted our Nissan dealer who said they have never heard of this,.

My car has automatically breaked on its own while driving twice, with no car in front of me and without me (the driver) pressing on the breaks while attempting to get on the freeway once and once while driving down the street.

I was driving on a city street, came up to an intersection to make a left hand turn and all of a sudden the car put on the brakes and jolted me and my passenger forward. There was no car in front of me or behind me at this time. I seen the warning come for no reason. I am a little nervous about driving the vehicle at this point.

The automatic emergency braking system constantly activates while driving. I am worried I will get in a wreck. I have had Nissan look at it and have had the update done and I still have the same issue. I have spoken with the region representative and Nissan will not do anything about it and I am told I can take it to the dealership to have it looked at. It has happened hundreds of times since I have purchased it.

I would like to report an issue with the vehicles automatic braking assistance system. While driving the car on an avenue, the car just stopped completely with no other traffic in the area. No one in front or behind. The car came to a complete stop and I and my passenger where thrown forward with the seat belts tightening around us. As I was driving on a city street on 09/03/2020 my car decided to stop automatically by itself in the middle of the street. The breaks locked up and the steering as well, I was thrown forward almost hitting my head off the steering wheel, I didn't because I had my seatbelt on, thank goodness. If there was another vehicle behind me I would have most likely died. This is completely unacceptable and should not be happening. I called the dealer where I had purchased it from, performance kia in moosic, PA and they can not get me in for a whole week which is also unacceptable because I have to drive it in order to get my children around and myself to work, this is scary and needs to be resolved. I noticed plenty of other people complaining about this issue as well!.

Happened about 6 months ago while driving home from a friends house. Suddenly the car made an awful sound and the brakes locked. Scared the crap out of me. Took it to the dealer and they checked the brakes-saw nothing. Was driving yesterday down the street going about 25 miles per hr and the brakes suddenly engaged with that horrible sound again, everything in the middle seat flew to the front, flung me into the steering wheel-chest first and the car behind me barely swerved around me to avoid an accident. I am terrifed to drive this car again! I cannot believe it. I paid a lot of money for my car and to be afraid to drive it again for fear of an accident or losing my or anyone else's life is scary!!! please help us who purchased these cars!!.

I was driving on the highway doing 60 mph and all warning lights sounds and the breaks came on and stopped me without me touching them.

On four occasions my car has randomly started flashing a light on my dash and than grabbing the brakes as if someone or something was in front of me, on all four occasions there has been no one in front of me, but there has been people behind me that have had to swerve out of the way. The vehicle is brand new with less than 40k miles and is becoming more and more dangerous for my children and I.

I was driving my Nissan and a sudden stop happen. No cars or anything in front of me. The car just stop. This can cause an accident, I was reading others owner are going to the same issues.
