1 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2026

Vehicle experiences repeated engine malfunction with power reduced condition while driving. Vehicle loses acceleration and may not exceed approximately 30 to 40 mph despite full throttle input. Condition occurs intermittently and is worsening. Vehicle has also developed oil odor after operation. Dealer has performed multiple diagnostics and repairs but condition persists. Root cause has not been clearly identified and diagnosis has included conflicting explanations involving egr system, sensors and turbocharger. This condition creates a safety risk due to sudden loss of power while driving in traffic.

2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2026

On 02/22/2026 my 2022 Nissan Rogue began sputtering as it was being driven. Was able to finally get pulled over where the engine died and would not start. Almost hit another car because did not have brakes or power steering. Was taken by tow truck to local Nissan dealer where the tech confirmed the egr valve was faulty and possibly caused severe engine damage. No warning lights were displayed just the engine sputtering and running rough.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2025

I was advised by the dealership that my egr cooler needs replaced due to it failing. My car was acting like it was going to stall out on several different occasions and the malfunction warning light would also come on. The car would have no heat due to all the antifreeze leaking out. I have white smoke coming out of the tailpipe with a strong odor. I’ve had the car maybe 6 months! there are a lot of complaints regarding this issue that have been fixed under the latest engine recall but I’m being told I have to pay for it to be fixed. I find it odd there’s so many people with the same issue and is being rectified due to the engine recall.

4 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2025

The vehicle intermittently loses power and displayed “engine malfunction/ service now” warnings beginning several months ago. Diagnostic code u0652 (lost communication with egr system) was recorded. This failure was later confirmed by a Nissan dealer, who identified a faulty egr valve and differential-pressure sensor, with low coolant and internal coolant loss (no external leaks). During review with Nissan’s regional case manager, engine contamination was noted as a factor, yet this information was never disclosed to me by the dealership. The egr valve, cooler, and sensors share coolant and exhaust pathways with the engine, meaning contamination within those circuits can block sensors and cause drivability loss or limp-mode events — exactly what occurred. Despite these findings, Nissan classified the issue as “unrelated” to recall r25a8, which involves internal bearing debris and coolant contamination capable of circulating through those same systems. Nissan offered to cover only 50% of repair costs and refused to provide their decision in writing. Nissan’s recall inspection procedure requires removal of the oil pan and inspection for debris, which was never performed. I was provided an oil sample after diagnosis - proof that the pan was not dropped. This raises concerns that Nissan failed to follow the prescribed recall diagnostic process. Additionally, I have been forced to personally pay hundreds of dollars for a rental vehicle because Nissan stated rental reimbursement would not be provided until the repair is completed, despite the vehicle being undrivable due to the recall-related defect. I do not feel comfortable proceeding with the repair or continuing to drive the vehicle in its current condition, as the underlying recall issue has not been properly addressed or resolved. This defect poses a serious safety risk due to potential engine failure, sudden power loss, and internal coolant contamination that could lead to further mechanical damage or fire.

8 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2025

Originally I took my vehicle into Nissan of gadsden due to issues with the egr system failure in April 2025. The egr system was already replaced once a year before, but due to past recalls they replaced the system without appropriate diagnosis/scanning dtc codes. They had the car for 2 weeks and after picking the vehicle up the motor shattered itself while traveling at interstate speeds almost causing accident due to rapid declaration. The motor was diagnosed as no reparable and gave no solutions. After 4 months of calling and making complaints, it was determined that the vehicle fell under the recall 25v-437 / r25a8. It took them a month to get approved and install the new motor and turbo at hallmark Nissan of birmingham. I was called to pick the vehicle up 09/22/2025 after repair. Upon returning home, vehicle would not exceed 60mph from its own power, engine light and engine malfunction light came on, and vehicle would slow to unsafe speeds on the interstate when trying to overcome hills. I called the service department and notified them of this and they told me to drive the vehicle over 50 miles back to the dealership at speeds not safe for highway travel. They diagnosed that the turbo that they just installed went out again. I also received a letter that hallmark Nissan would pay off the car note the day I picked up the vehicle. Upon retuning to the dealer and asking to accept the offer, they refused and stated it was just a marketing tactic. All of this has been documented by audio and video recording.

9 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2025

Related to pe23-023. 2022 Nissan Rogue with 77,000 miles first lost heating ability and then would stall and not start. Problem was diagnosed by an ase certified shop/tech. Diagnostic inspection revealed 2 quarts of coolant missing and contamination in the cylinders. To start the recommendation was to replace the egr cooler and turbo, after reviewing similar complaints, I have chosen not to do the repairs as it doesn't sounds like it will fix the root cause and I am not inclined to replace the motor, turbo, egr etc only for this to occur again. I plan to trade out of this vehicle at a significant financial loss and replace it to ensure the safety of my family. I would like to be a part of the investigation, if in the future Nissan is held accountable for this engineering failure I may be able to recoup some of my financial hardship.

10 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2024

Subject: urgent safety complaint - 2022 Nissan Rogue (VIN: xxx) - recall remedy failure I am filing a formal complaint regarding a life-threatening defect in my 2022 Nissan Rogue. This vehicle has experienced three (3) total losses of motive power at highway speeds, nearly causing multiple accidents. I am now afraid to drive this vehicle as it remains a substantial safety hazard. Recall & repair failure: the vehicle is subject to recalls r25e2 and r25e3 for engine bearing and throttle body failure. The dealership performed an ecm software update which effectively removed the "open recall" status from my VIN history. However, the dealer refused to perform the mandatory physical oil pan inspection for metal debris required by the recall protocol. The car still exhibits severe bucking, hesitation, and gurgling noises. By only performing a software "fix," the manufacturer has cleared the safety alert while leaving a catastrophic mechanical defect unaddressed. This is a complete remedy failure. 30-day out-of-service & misdiagnosis: in January 2025, the dealership retained my vehicle for over 30 days. During this stay, the service department initially informed me via text that the engine required a full replacement. The following day, they abruptly changed the diagnosis to spark plugs. I have text records of this contradiction. This 30-day stay meets the statutory presumption of a "lemon" under florida statute 681. 104. Unresolved issues: despite replacing the throttle body, egr valve, water pump, and various mounts, the engine still stumbles, especially from a stop. The dealer manager previously discussed a vehicle swap but attempted to force a new credit application, treating a safety-defect remedy as a new sale. I am seeking a substitution of collateral (swap) on my existing loan terms for a reliable vehicle. Below, I put the date this all started, last service was a 3/9/26-power loss/throttle current mileage: 55,000 dealer: Nissan of cape coral, florida information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act.

12 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2024

My Rogue had an engine failure in 2024. This caused the car not slow down and not accelerate on highway and could have caused an accident. Entire engine and turbo and replaced at 71276 miles. In 2025 another incident happened where the car lost power on the interstate in left lane, I had to move my car to right side of road in busy traffic. This could have also been a major accident, and put my family at risk. I left the car at another dealer as I was on vacation. This time the egr valve, egr sensor had to be replaced as well as all catalytic converters at 97018 and 97282 miles I received the recall notice after all of this in the mail about the engine recall on this Rogue and Nissan is failing to reimburse me for any of the repairs for the engine and other parts replacement. They are saying that the repairs are not related to the recall. I have heard from my dealer and other sources that several of these Rogue engines are failing similar to what mine did. I do not believe Nissan is doing enough to resolve the issue with these cars.
