Side/rear Glass problems of the 2026 Nissan Rogue

I have a 2026 Nissan Rogue. The back window spontaneously "popped" and shattered. I understand there is an issue with 2025 Rogue doing this. I purchased mine in October of 2025. I was in the drivers seat and had pushed the rear hatch button to open it. It went up approximately 1/2 way and there was a loud "pop", to the point my neighbors came out to see what happened. I called my dealership and they had me bring it in. They informed me there was no recall for the glass and could not cover it under warranty because they had no "proof" it was spontaneous. I paid 100% to have my window replaced by safelite at a cost of $374. 00.

The rear tailgate window shattered while parked in the driveway. It occurred overnight and was discovered first thing in the morning. Glass fragments were propelled several feet away from the vehicle. Our 2020 Rogue spent five years parked in the exact place without any windows shattering. Our new 2026. 5 Rogue had only spent 3 months parked there when the window shattered. We brought it to the dealer who said there was no warranty on broken windows so we had it repaired on our own and our insurance covered the replacement.

The contact owns a 2026 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact entered the vehicle and there was a loud abnormal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact exited the vehicle, walked to the rear of the vehicle, and discovered that the rear glass had exploded. No warning lights were illuminated. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,332.

The contact owns a 2026 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that after entering the vehicle and looking back to reverse, the contact became aware that the hatch glass had shattered. The shattered glass fell inside the trunk. There was no object found inside the trunk of the vehicle to indicate that an object had struck the glass. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and the contact was advised to file a claim with the insurance company. The failure mileage was approximately 1,300.

The back window shattered. I could not find an impact spot, nor was there any weather that would have caused the window to shatter.
