Nissan Rogue owners have reported 40 problems related to exterior lighting (under the exterior lighting category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Rogue based on all problems reported for the Rogue.
Very poor lighting when using low beams. Makes driving in winter or rainy conditions difficult. Also no light to sides of vehicle in low beam mode makes sharp turns on dark roads almost blind. I almost hit pedestrian that I couldn't see until I turned toward him. Dealer has checked vehicle and reported lights were working correctly.

I was driving on a straight path on a city road about 35-40 mph hour around 7:30 est on a clear day. I had stopped at the red light and noticed smoke coming from under the hood so I pulled over and lifted the hood. The smoke was coming from the drivers side and when I looked in that direction I saw that my head lamp had fire coming from it. I placed water on it to put out the fire and there was a loud pop that immediately followed that sounded like a gun went off. I waited for my eardrums to calm down and waited to make sure no additional fire or smoke was coming from the car before approaching it.

In February 2016 I purchased a 2016 Nissan after having owned muranos or Rogue for about 9 previous years. The headlite system was changed to a led computer controlled system. The headlites were now very focused with no light escaping from a heavy direct concentrated beam. If the normal headlites were turned on and directed toward the back of another you can distinctly notice the clear area from the ground up to the height of the Rogue's hood. The rest of the light would appear to be tinted. If the high beams were turned on you would have more light on the object in front of the Rogue. The main problem is when the Rogue is headed down hill. The bottom of the hill would be lit up but the area directly in front of the Rogue would be like a black hole especially if travelling on an unlit country road. An accident waiting to happen. I returned to demo this condition to the Nissan dealer who confirmed my feelings about the headlites. I then reported the same info to Nissan who took my comments but did not indicate whether anything would be done. I urge you to investigate as it is another indication that headlites are a defect and should be corrected. Thank you, the vehicle performs the same way whether stationary, in motion or on any type of road but is most dangerous on a dark country road. Thank you burton welte 212 831-0540 burtwelte@gmail. Since April of 2011 (vehicle was 4 months oold) I have had my car into Nissan for auto lights not functioning (not shutting off whenin daylight), my ipod turns on when the audio is off and the electronic driver seat moves forward by itself. This has been reported and "serviced" more than 10 times already and each time it is "cannot reproduce although they see it happening. The last incident was Saturday, 12/14/12 when the setting on the dash changed by themselves and my trunk would not open with the ignition on. On Sunday morning, my car engine was locked and my Smart key nor the regular key would unlock the sterring column. I was out of state when it occured and had to have it towed to a dealer in CT, I live in NY. Now they claim that all the above was caused by a undersized battery. They installed a 700amp in my car now standard battery that came with the car is 575 amp. What is wrong with this picture? how can they say this is the issue. How can they manufacture cars with undersized batteries and not have it on a recall or issues list anywhere? even the dealer in connecticut was puzzled. I cannot say iof this is going to fix the problem, but I can tell you, I will not take this lying down. Nissan consumer affairs is totally useless and there is no consumer in this department, they are a waste of time. I filed two complaints 8 months apart regarding the same issues # 7274639 and 10257638. Both went unresolved and ignored. , they keep claiming they are within their warranty guidelines. What guidelines - the vehicle is an obviuous lemon. Not sure how to file for the lemon law or act on this as this car is unsafe and unrelliable. Any help would be apprecaited.
