Gas gauge does not read correctly. When attempting the fill the tank it trips the nozzle at the pump not allowing the attendant to fill the tank.

The issue with the vehicle is that it is showing a quarter tank of gas, but in reality there is no gas at all. The car stops accelarting and eventually dies. I first had this problem christmas eve 2011. I took the car to the dealer and they added some gas after noting the gauge and the car started up. They told me because it was cold outside that the gauge gets stuck to the side of the can. Well this has happen twice more in 40 and 50 degree weather. The last incident had me stranded at 9 pm on March 10 on the side of i465 e. There is no specific recall on the rouge, but Nissan has a recall on several other models displaying the same issue.

The electronic fuel gauge reading is incorrect as to the actual fuel level that exists in my 2010 Nissan Rogue 360 awd SUV. Because even after more than 250 miles logged on after the last fuel-up of my vehicle, this defective fuel gauge still shows a full tank of gas. This is very dangerous because people may well run out of gas on the road, imagine being out of fuel and stuck in the middle of nowhere. The fuel gauge used to work before, although it has never been very accurate but now it has stopped working altogether. Please help, thank you very much. ## VIN passed ## Nissan/rogue/2010 ##.

Gas gauge failed to read accurately after turning 16,000 miles. Must fill tank to overflow level to be sure it is filled. Currently at 16,500 miles. Dealer contacted - had not heard of problem. I provided TSB # and service manager quoted the following costs to diagnose and repair: $119-diagnosis/ $420 for sender and sub-sender units (rogue is awd) / $263 labor. This problem is a dangerous defect and rather than fall under the TSB category a recall should be issued. Nissan should cover this at no cost to the customer.
Took my 2009 Rogue in November due to fuel gage not showing accurate fuel intake. It was released the same day with they didn't find a problem. Took it back in December because the car died out due to no gas but fuel gage showed almost half tank (my 2 year old son was me and when I called Nissan they said to tow it but I had to pay for the towing). Nissan ordered the part it came in and installed December 24 2011 but when I tried to fill tank up it only registered at half tank. Took the car back in they dropped the tank, emptied the tank check the wirings and said it was fine this was in Jan 4 2012 picked car up on Jan 11 2012 at full tank. Currently as of today, Jan 17 2012 car is at 250 miles but fuel gage is only showing half tank when is should be at least 3rd bar to the end. Called Nissan found out that it is not covered under my extended warranty but because mileage was overlooked they will try to fix it again. By the way I live in guam. Will update after I take it in again.
Vehicle was traveling north in the middle lane of a six lane intersection. The vehicle made it thru the intersection and slowed to a complete stop. The vehicle was inoperable in the middle lane of the street. The fuel gage read a quarter of a tank and the low fuel warning light was not on. A gallon was added and the vehicle restarted. It went immediately to the gas station where over 16 gallons were added implying the tank was completely empty. Nissan said it was most likely the fuel sending unit. Several other Nissan owners have complained about the same issue.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan rouge. The contact was driving 75 mph when the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who diagnosed that the fuel level gauge was defective and the vehicle did not have any fuel in the tank. The manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 84,000. Updated 05/04/11.
Every time I go to fill up my tank, the gas gauge bars never reach the full tank indicator. It always show that my tank is 80% - 90% full. I always wait until the low gas light comes on before I fill up, but because the gauge is inaccurate, I have to fill up more often for fear of running out of gas at night with my two young children in the car.
The fuel gauge system is not accurate all the time it is I believe defective and Nissan recalled on it, but when I took my car over they said it was not affected, although I had a problem a the time it wasn't this bad. . . This defective fuel gauge still shows a full tank of gas. This is very dangerous because people may well run out of gas on the road, imagine being out of fuel and stuck in the middle of nowhere.
