The contact owns a 2001 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle jerked and stalled and the service engine warning light illuminated. 2 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2005

Nissan Sentra 2001 se. Motor stopped on freeway at once, failure was crank sensor. Cost me 500 parts tow and labor, no dealer around or open. New sensor failing now I think, service engine soon light on again. Ecm problems , also front rim broke and caused the car to go in ditch, needs body repair now. Bad vibration in steering. Have tried to get this car fixed at dealer no luck also tried Nissan consumer aff. They also had no luck getting car in for safety fixes. They don't have parts and never return my calls.

3 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2004

I took my car to the dealership to have the sensor replaced due to a recall. Prior to having the recall repairs done my car had no major problems except the service engine soon light would not go off (it has been on since 40k miles). Now my car stalls every time I slow down to stop. If I had an automatic transmission I would have to pull off the road to restart my car. Since I have a clutch I can pop the clutch to restart the car because I am still drifting. The dealership also tried to tell me that the service engine soon light was not on due to the recall but because the catalytic converter was not working properly. The service engine soon light no longer comes on, but my car stalls consistently. I will never buy another Nissan. I thought they were reliable cars. But after having to deal with the service department and having a service engine soon light come on soon after the warranty expired I have learned my lesson.

4 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2002

While I was driving down the highway the engine stopped running and the service engine warning light came on. It was very hard to steer while traveling that speed and to get acroos the traffic so I could pull off of the highway. I had to have it towed to pat peck Nissan in gulfport, mississippi. They fixed the car and said that it was the crank position sensor. I asked if there was a recall on this and they said no. After I got home I looked on your website and found that there is a recall on this for the 2001 Nissan Sentra manufactured on January 2000 through may 2001. The manufactured date on my car is April of 2001. I called Nissan and they said that my car did not qualify for the recall. I do not understand if my car is in the manufactured date why it does not qualify. This could have caused a serious accident, not only me but the other drivers around me. Please take a look at this and see if the recall was overlooked before someone is serious injured. Thanks for your time. Kevin carpenter dt.
