general problems of the 2013 Nissan Sentra - part 2

My car has around 78000 miles on it and the transmission completely died and I need a new one. I've been told by several mechanics that this is a problem with Nissan and normally transmission should last at least 10 years. It has been 4. . . I am extremely upset since I owe 10,000 on the car.

In very hot weather the car will shake when stopping or sitting at a traffic light and occasionally the engine will stop. The engine has also stopped while the car is moving. This only happens on very hot days.

First is was the a/c went out frist then the transmission problem when me my husband was headed to work one day the a eighteen wheeler almost ram into use because the stop in the middle of traffic and wouldn't go any where.

Takata recall. Driving from home from a road trip, I stopped to get gas about 300 miles from home when all of a sudden my car would not move when trying to leave the gas station to get back on he interstate! im furious ive only had this 2013 Nissan Sentra sr for 3 going on four years and to hear that my transmission has to be replaced is ridiculous!! ive only owned Nissans and for my transmission to go out on me in such a short time is terrible. These cvt transmissions need to replaced ASAP. I can not come out of pocket $4,500 to replace this transmission, the sad part is I still owe on the car!! help, please.

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Sentra. While driving at an unknown speed, the check engine and traction control warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the soy based wire cable harnesses had been chewed and fractured by rodents and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired with more soy based wires and the contact was concerned that the failure would recur. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,059.

Purchased a 2013 Nissan Sentra with around 45820 miles on it. 2 weeks later the transmission goes out. They replaced because it was still under warranty. Received it back with problems. Rpm would go up past 5 when acceleraring or passing. Complained and never received a call back was told that was normal. . Problem continues. Even had a supervisor test drive and was told nothing was out of order. Contact corporate they send me to a new dealer and its gears that are not shifting correctly. Solution another transmission this time they expect me to pay but they are willing to pay half. Unacceptable for a problem I been complaining about since receiving the vehicle back. Obvious defect in transmission for nisan or in mechanics that work for them.

The transmission on my car has now been replace twice, the car shakes, jolts and shut off. Now for a third time while driving on the street the car shock hard and the transmission and engine fell. The car was unmovable. It was so dangerous I was in morning traffic and 3 cars almost hit me because the car stop in the middle of the street. Had to get the car towed to the dealership and now waiting to see with what excuse the come out with. Car always shakes since I tog it new in 2013.

Purchased our 2013 Nissan Sentra sv in may, 2016. It came with a 7 year cpo, expiration may 30, 2020. Within 3 months of purchase I had what I thought was a shifting/transmission related issue. When going from 1st to 2nd gear the car tachometer would rev to 4500 rpm but nut go any faster, then shake/thunk, and go into 2nd gear. From that time until April, 2020, I went in to 4 separate Nissan dealerships in 2 states with this problem. Each one said they would not look at the vehicle because Nissan said they would not fix the problem until the transmission stops working. In April, 2020, my last visit, I explained a new problem occurred. The car could not maintain 65 miles per hour without going into overdrive or a higher gear, and was shifting multiple times into multiple gears. But still nothing would be done by Nissan as the transmission did not fail. Then, on July 22, 2020, the transmission stuck in 2nd twice. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs and explained my situation. A case sheet was developed and I sent in information to them. 8 days later they called me back and said my cpo warranty ended end of may, 2020, so there was nothing they would do. By the way, my case sheet number was 40830236. Transmission was replaced this week costing us over $4000. Very, very frustrated. I know our cpo ended end of may, 2020. But Nissan refused to look at transmission until total failure. I am sending you copies of our transmission replacement bill, a copy from Nissan noting transmission needing replacement, and our cpo warranty. Thanks for any help you can give us.

My car dose not accelerate right since a month ago. Car went dealer 3times. 1st time , I go to dealer with recall letter about cvt. Then problem still do it. 3days later,they did test drive and reprogram for transmission,,,,, still had problem. 2days later ,again 3rd time to go dealer. They gave to me car with no problem. That's Nissan told us. It doesn't do every time,yet. But it feels old car. I could not go after stop light ,could not go over 2000x while running sometimes. I still have payment,too. They should change car or change something.

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Sentra. While driving various speeds,the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for the acceleration failure and routine maintenance. The contact was informed of an air bag warning indicator recall. The dealer repaired the vehicle per the recall, but the remedy failed. The contact mentioned that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated after the recall repair. The contact was unable to provide the recall information. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.

Intelligent key fob intermittent start/stop of vehicle. Went to start my car after dinner and it would not start. No activity when pressing the intelligent key fob. Stranded in a parking lot ,called my spouse and then he came with a spare fob, same thing, no start. Turned fob around per owners manual and car started but key warning light flashed all the way home. Read manual and made sure all caveats were not the issue. Winter weather night outside, came home and pulled car in the garage, waited an hour and tried to start car, no problem started fine. Went out next morning and car started fine after two stops, at third stop would not start again. Used procedure suggested in owners manual and car started. Drove to final destination and no key warning light flashing. Went online and found many complaints of dealer related issues with replacement of a steering lock switch to cure problem, (at a cost of around 800 - 900 dollars), at the car owners expense. Found some other info online suggesting there is an extended warranty from manufacturer on this item. Have not yet researched that claim. Also some suggestions to inform NHTSA to start a recall process for this as it seems to be widespread with this make and other models of this manufacturer. I am submitting this complaint in the hopes that others will also and get a recall issued for this. Will contact a local dealer for more info on status of manufacturer. Twice in 24 hrs is not a coincidence. There is an issue with this system and it should be looked into by NHTSA.

With no warning, the vehicle applies brakes while in cruise control. Brake lights on the vehicle remain active continuously after this. Once this has occurred, the cruise control light flashes and the transmission is very limited on power at intermittent intervals. It comes and it goes without reason all the while the brake lights remain fully illuminated. This occurs while the vehicle is in motion. It tends to be while cruise control is enabled, but it has occurred while regularly driving.

After attempting to accelerate from stop at a stop sign, the Sentra would not accelerate higher than about 10 mph. I pushed the gas pedal to the floor, and still no acceleration. After a minute or so, it went back to normal. Over the course of an hour long drive, this happened at least 5 times. Abs indicator also came on when pushing the brake. Vdc and slip lights came on and stayed on for about half an hour. It will perform normally for a day or two. Then start malfunctioned at random. Two attempts have been made at the dealership to fix it according to diagnostic test which indicated the "brake switch code". Brake switch replaced and vehicle performed normally for two days the performed worse than before part was changed.

The vehicle was was destroyed and towed. The driver's died instantly. There was a police report filed the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 33,000. Bm.

Vehicle turns off by itself while driving, transmission needs to be replaced,and a lot of issues with the engine.

Takata recall on multiple occasions while driving on streets and highways, the vehicle seems to be stuck on a lower gear or not transitioning to a higher gear. The most noticeable issue is related to the rpm's getting extremely high with little or no increase in overall speed. The most recent incident occurred while on the freeway, as I was attempting to increase my speed the vehicle slowly accelerated up to 45 - 50 mph but the rpm's reflected 6,500+ before the vehicle would start to jerk at this point I had no choice but to move towards the emergency lane/shoulder fearing that it would abruptly stop working or lose momentum. This instance happened on two occasions during this drive while on the freeway and it seemed to stop after the second time I pulled over but only after I cycled through the park/neutral/reverse/drive/low gears a few times. Based on this second instance, I feel this issue is related to the transmission for the vehicle.

This vehicle was purchased on 12/31/2013, with 22 miles showing on the odometer. Approximately two weeks later, while at a stop light, the car engine cuts off, I was able to put the car into park and restart without further problem. The engine has stopped three other times since then, the others were while idling and driving at approximately 25-30mph. I should have taken it back to the dealer after the first incident, but thought it was a fluke, but after the fourth time, I'm a bit afraid that this will continue to happen and probably cause an accident. How do I begin to resolve this problem with Nissan?.

I only had my car for about 10 months. I keep my car updated with the maintenance. I drove to las vegas, nevada Friday afternoon. My car was running great I get to las vegas nevada I here this loud grinding crinkly noise coming from my engine or transmission. I take it to planet Nissan in las vegas nevada. They took forever to even take me as a customer. Then they come out and say you are not eligible for a rental and your transmission went out. They proceeded to tell me that I will be responsible for the car as far as picking it up when its fixed. This is the worst experience I had with cars. This is the third time something bad happens to this car and its supposed to be brand new. I bought it with 32 miles on it. Mind you all this was on a trip I took to vegas with my family. My two year old son was drained from this experience having to spend 6 hours at planet Nissan. They even try selling me a another new Sentra.

The contact pulled over to check under the hood and discovered that the engine was on fire. The fire department was called to extinguish the fire. The fire department was unable to determine what caused the fire. No one was injured. The contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer regarding the fire. The failure mileage was 11,110.

I bought my 2013 Nissan Sentra sr from towne auto brokers 03/2013 I test drove it and it had no shifting problems at that time. 2 weeks later while I'm driving it the Sentra started jerking and idling erratically, the rpm tachometer red lined 3 times without the gas pedal being depressed!! while redlining the Sentra's transmission shudder with the erratic jerking all the while decelerating before catching 3rd gear at 4,000 rpm. I was in rush hour traffic 3 miles from home so I decided to try and making it home. While stopped at the stop light the Sentra idled normal, then at the green light when I depressed the gas pedal nothing happened( no power at all and the rpm didn't rise) I was literally stuck in the middle of an intersection not able to move my Nissan Sentra under its own power!!! I'm afraid that this is a transmission issue that the manufacturer was well aware of before installation in Nissan Sentra and all other models with this cvt transmission. I believe the Nissan corporation should recall all cvt transmission due to mechanical failure resulting in lack of power.

I was traveling on the interstate on 4/6 headed to SC at 5 am when the car started to decelerate by itself. With the gas pedal to the floor the car would not go past 45. Then suddenly it will take off. The car does this at random and it cannot be detected on the computer according to Nissan. Friday night the car did the same thing. This time was worst and I was in traffic with people behind me. As I started to pull off from the light the car would not go past 25. I immediately put the flashers on prayed that I did not get hit from behind. I am afraid to drive the car and I am currently paying for a rental because Nissan lithia springs refused to give me a rental or loaner. I am very distressed about this car. Nissan lithia springs said they would trade me out the car but wanted to treat it as a trade. Why would I pay for two cars when my Sentra is obviously a lemon. I am otally frustrated I have a brand new car that I cannot drive and know one seems to care. The car was purchased on 3/18. Went to service 4/8 picked up 4/9 they said that it was a idle program. Returned to service 4/11 and was picked up 4/24. I took the car back on 4/26 and it is still there. I have tried contacting Nissan consumer affairs and they don't return phone calls or emails.

I purchase this as a brand new vehicle last month from a Nissan dealer. Today morning when I left home at 5:40am the temperature was around 25f and when I switched on the car and pulled it to the drive mode suddenly the engine stopped by itself. I then pulled it back in the parking gear and reigned the engine and left home. I reached outside my house stopped to take a left turn and the car stopped again! I feel scared driving this car now on freeway as I feel it may stop anytime and I might get into a big crash. There is a recall letter I received on this car yesterday and it said the first problem I stated above when the car is moved from p to d sometimes it stops but not that it would ever stop while in motion which is very very scary. My name is edgar woltkamp I purchased this vehicle for my wife joey ann stagaard the vehicle is 73,000 miles with frequent oil changes and check ups. The transmission went on this vehicle and I took it to my mechanic. After my mechanic did a diagnostic report and extensive research he found that this particular make and model has had nothing but problems with the transmission. I took the car to a Nissan dealership who advised me that Nissan said they are at fault and will pay for half the price of a new transmission. I am a disabled, retired veteran and cannot afford $3000 to put in a vehicle that Nissan knows they are at fault for. Vehicle only has 73,000 miles on it and my mechanic said that it should definitely not have any of these problems . I would like to know if there is anything I can do about this issue.
