1 Seat Belt problem of the 2006 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 06/20/2025

Bought a 2006 Nissan Sentra from an individual as a first car for my grandson. Drivers seatbelt does not retract. Took to body shop and they said it was a safety issue and we would need to take it to the dealer. The Nissan dealer in chattanooga said that they could not repair it as the part was discontinued. Did not give us an alternative other than to to google it and fix it ourselves (but it's a safety problem that even a body shop won't touch). So now my grandson has his first car but it's worthless?.

2 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/28/2024

? incident I would like to report involves the crash of a 2018 Nissan Sentra (VIN: 3n1ab7apxjy277851) that occurred on the morning of November 28, 2024, coinciding with thanksgiving day on highway 270 at the eisenhower memorial (is-270) location. It is very concerning and puzzling how, in rainy conditions, after the vehicle collided with the highway barrier, the airbag of the Sentra failed to deploy, resulting in the driver’s head hitting the steering wheel and the driver’s neck colliding with the seat. Furthermore, the driver’s seat shifted from its normal position to a horizontal one, making it impossible for the driver to control the car. After two complete spins of the car, it crashed again into the highway barrier from the rear. The failure of the airbag to deploy resulted in severe bruising and pain in the driver’s head, neck, and back. Despite the driver being an athlete with a strong physique, this led to a minimum of one month of being bedridden and unable to work. Additionally, despite undergoing physiotherapy, pain remains in the head and neck area. The car was declared a total loss and could not be repaired after the crash. Do you not think that if the airbag, which is designed for the driver’s safety, does not deploy in such situations, then when will it deploy? if the driver’s seat, in such situations, bends and turns horizontal, depriving the driver of control over the car, how can one drive safely? aren’t these instances indicative of a malfunction in the vehicle’s safety system? does this not raise questions about the safety standards and build quality of a brand like Nissan, which is an International company? if the airbags or other safety systems fail to operate in emergency situations, this could jeopardize people’s lives. These safety features are designed to protect drivers and passengers, and it is expected that they function correctly in all circumstances.

3 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/28/2024

On [xxx], my 2018 Nissan Sentra was involved in a severe accident on [xxx] in maryland. Despite the high-impact nature of the collision, none of the airbags deployed. The driver’s seat collapsed completely, causing total loss of control, and the seatbelt system applied excessive pressure, restricting movement dangerously. Nissan north America refused to inspect the vehicle and redirected responsibility to the insurance company without addressing the obvious technical failures. Additionally, I have provided video footage and photographs documenting the extent of the damage. My son, the driver, suffered serious physical injuries, emotional trauma, and financial loss due to post-accident disability. I respectfully request an immediate investigation into the safety defects of the 2018 Nissan Sentra regarding airbags, seat structure, and seatbelt system. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

4 Seat Belt problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 06/02/2023

I have a 2019 Nissan Sentra with only 17,000 miles. The seatbelt indicator light stays on even while wearing the seatbelt. There is no warning chime just the light. However, if there is a passenger the seatbelt indicator light will go off. My concern is for the passenger's safety. I'm concerned if everything will work like it should especially if there happens to be an accident and the airbags deploy.

6 Seat Belt problem of the 2017 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/10/2023

My driver door opens while I'm driving, the first time it happened in Feb 2023 had I not have my seatbelt on I would have fell out of car. It has happened severals more times, it feels like the lock or the pin is not engaging. Now my front passenger door is starting as well. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs the woman was arrogant with no concern over my safety, maybe it's a defective door or lock or something and the mgr ashley said Nissan can't help me, I asked a question if this fell under the NJ lemon law and she said no. I also complained that a dealer will not fix my stop light recall pm971 -21v-135 they put me on a waiting list 1 yr ago, I merely asked if this caused an accident what would happen? she sent me an email stating this I should have my attorney contact them. I never even mentioned an attorney and when I asked for the transcript of our conversation she said she cannot release it to me, I asked if she had one and she said yes. . Why wouldn't they release a convo I had with them, can it be used against them? my life is not there concern, I have had Nissans for over 40 years with no issues, I have an issue now and they merely shrugged it off. I would like help regarding these matters as Nissan refuses to help with the safety of my being and to save a buck!! please contact me ASAP the doors are a major concern.

7 Seat Belt problem of the 2014 Nissan Sentra

The check engine light keeps coming on with a p0101 indication mass or volume air flow curcuit range/ performance problem. The filter was changes, the mass air flow sensor was changes, and the pcv valve was changed but the light keeps coming on. The vehicle also will not accelerate as fast and sometimes will not go over a certain speed. The vehicle sometimes startes to rolls backwards when in drive when idling. The vehicle also shakes when slowing down from a higher speed I. E. When you are on the freeway and then have to slow to lower speeds no matter how much distance you give. I have almost been rear ended and run backwards at the light because the vehicle goes backwards then goes forward. This is not safe for 2014 nissian owners.

At the beginning of June in 2021 my car started showing signs of failing to start. This led to some problems with it driving and the automatic braking system causing problems. The dealer ship fix the piece that connects under the brakes. It was some kind of sensor. This on June 12 of 2021. March 28 2022 I had the problem my car was not starting. I took it in to the dealership they replaced my battery March 29th my check engine light came on I got to codes po 101 and po 315. I paid to get the sensors repaid and was told that my crankshaft should be all right if I clean it or I can replace it. I took the car in again April 20 because it was failing to start. The individual who help me in services had the same problem. They brought out their mechanic and the mechanic said no codes were shown. She explained to me that it might be an issue with the battery that they replaced. I have taken the car to the same dealership to get everything fixed I have also worked with the same person in regards to my problems.

15 Seat Belt problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/15/2020

Hello my name is [xxx] . I have a story I would like ran. On Jan. 23, 2020 I bought a brand new Nissan Sentra. The car cost over 18,000 dollars. It had 24 miles on it when I pulled off the lot. On the morning of Feb. 15, 2020 at less than a month of ownership my teen daughter's and I was heading into town for breakfast. We were running down the highway at 55 mph when the curtain airbags deployed at random. No wreck or accident of any kind. My left ear drum was busted and my daughter was massively bruised. I took the car back to the dealership and they issued a rental. 5 days later they called and told me the rental had to be returned and Nissan was not going to give any financial assistance of any kind. I called consumer affairs to see why the rental was being taken back. I was informed rudely that they would not be helping in any way and airbags were a complex machine that did not deploy without cause. And then went on to accuse me of fraud. The car finally got inspected at Nissan of cookeville by a consumerinspector who stood with me and confirmed that the car was not wrecked and the malfunction was not my fault. I just today heard back from consumer affairs today for them to tell me that Nissan would not be helping me in any way. And velocity had something to do with the random deploy and that's what airbags are supposed to do. So he literally told me that airbags are supposed to deploy sometimes without any collision. They have forced me to drive this car for a month and a half with my view obstructed and seatbelts not working with my children and now tells me they will not stand behind their vehicles malfunction and it is on me to deal with. They will also tell you they have never had trouble with airbags but there has been a huge recall about unsafe deploying airbags for a lot of Nissan vehicles. Please help me. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The airbag went off and it didn't stop her from hitting the windshield either. We was on an interstate doing 70mph. In a 70mph zone. She has ended up with a concussion and I feel like both these safety features should have stopped her from hitting the windshield. Please check into this.

25 Seat Belt problem of the 2014 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/07/2018

I was in an accident April 7th at 9:30 pm. I was driving down having a problem with keeping my windows from fogging up and had taken my eyes out from the road to look at my defrost knobs to make adjustments. When I looked back up, there was a truck stopped at the intersection which I hit dead on at a speed of 40mph. I believe I had enough time to take my foot off the gas pedal and start to apply my brake before colliding into the rear of the truck. Although I was wearing my seatbelt, it did not lock up , allowing my body to be thrown into the steering wheel & dashboard and thus fracturing my lower back and tibia on left leg. In addition to the laceration on my liver and bleeding ( internal bleeding) around my pelvic bone. My seatbelt restraint did not lock and my airbag did not deploy until after my chest hit steering wheel. These 2 malfunctions could have easily caused much more serious injuries, even death. I have a couple items that demonstrate the force in which chest hit steering column, gayle copenhaver 832. 729. 8789.

27 Seat Belt problem of the 2007 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

The driver's seat-belt on this Nissan Sentra cannot be applied when parked on a hill. There are only solutions that work: place the seat-belt over the steering wheel when parking, and remembering to sit-back down without allowing the belt to return to the unused position when buckling back up. The other solution is to drive without wearing your seat-belt until you reach a surface flat enough that the seat-belt mechanism disengages enough to allow you to buckle up. Obviously, both solutions are unrealistic and represent a real safety risk for motorists. Many motorists may give up and assume the seat-belt is broken if they see this.

30 Seat Belt problem of the 2015 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/27/2016

My car had a recall on the passenger seat belt, I took it to the dealer to be fixed and after they did, they told me that the airbag light will stay on until someone over 100 pounds sets there then it will turn off, and they told me that the red seat belt light on the dash board will stay on all the time, and yes I still have this problem with my car, both lights are on all the time and the dealer is not doing anything about it. If my car dose not detect any one hows less than 100 pounds on the passenger side that means my car is not safe at all.

31 Seat Belt problem of the 2015 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/08/2016

I had my oil changed @ Nissan of grapevine & they took my car through the car wash with the windows down. Drenching & damaging the inside of the car, seats, floor board, electronics all got wet & no one ever informed me, they tried to cover it up by drying as much of the inside. It was only when we sat in the car & put my purse on the floor board that we realized it. Water was seeping out of the door handles inside the cup holders & arm rest, dashboard, etc. I immediately contacted the service dept. I spoke with asst mgr brett, I also took the car right back to the dealership & there showed the service mgr mark topham how water was pouring out of the bottom of the seats, and throughout the car. The screen on the radio was very dim & the seatbelt light kept flickering on & off, the airbag issue. Mark stuck he apologized & said they will make this right. I also spoke with sam street, sales mgr, who agreed, that they did serious damage to my car & said he would be speaking to owner mr. Johnny cantrell about a new vehicle replacement & have johnny contact me directly. I left the car there & took aa rental car. I received a call from mgr mark topham, next day advising me, that all they are going to do is replace the seat belt because they can't get the seatbelt light to quit flashing & replace the inside bottom cushion of one of the front seat. I advised mark, that they destroyed my new car by water damage & they owe me a new vehicle replacement, especially because they tried to hide the fact & never disclosed it or changed the oil to begin with. He said he would let the owner johnny cantrell know & have him call me. I never received a phone call from the owner johnny cantrell, nor is the company willing to make right what they did wrong. I need help in resolving this issue, please!!!! this should be illegal!!!.

34 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 06/24/2016

I received a recall notification regarding the front passenger seat occupant classification system(OCS) software defect requiring reprogramming to detect a passenger in order to deploy the airbag in the event of an accident, and the child restraint system(crs), in particular the seat belt bracket deformity also in the front passenger seat requiring reinforcement. On 6/24/16 I took it to a local Nissan dealer which informed me that they could not complete the recall because they did not have the required part, therefore it would have to be ordered. As a result my appointment has been set for 1 month later. I checked with another Nissan dealer closer to where I work and they also confirmed that there was no eta on when the part would be available but would place me on a waiting list and contact me when it became available.
